Jordyna is hoping that she and Eminence can patch things up. After seeing and being with Keys, Eminence’s sensible world gets complicated since she neglects to tell Keys she has a boyfriend. Keys just wants one night with her and then they can go their separated ways, but it doesn’t go as plan. They both realized that they still have feeling for each other. And Eminence still thinks that Keys and Jordyna slept together. When everything finally comes to light, it is Eminence who is seen in a bad light. She realizes that everyone, but her, has their life straight and she has to stop running and face her fears from long ago. Bridget Midway penned a great story about old loves hooking back up. This pulled me in from the beginning to the end. I read it in one night, that’s how good it was. The sex scenes between Eminence and Keys are very hot, but I was a little disappointed when I didn’t find any BDSM elements in the story. Last Call is an enjoyable read and I would recommend it to anyone. -Reviewed by Tonni

Last Call by Bridget Midway is incredible. It's a roller coaster ride of emotional pain, trust, love, and excepting ones faults and failures. With all of the fantasy reads published, Last Call is not fantasy, it's life, real life! A love story that we all could, would, and have in live. This book is a refreshing read, makes one think about how life can get away from you, and how you can lose friends, and lovers by your actions. I highly recommend Last Call, which can be found in Scandalous Heroe Last Call by Bridget Midway is incredible. What I thought was going to be quick fluff read, but what I got was something much more intensely emotional. Eminence and Keys' story spoke of all the broken hearted, self doubting moments of our lives. Trying to keep one's self together by erecting wall around our hearts and settling for less than what we need and deserve. That is how Eminence Dutton had lived her life after highschool. Effected deeply by the scarring moment of the dissolution of her parent's marriage, coinciding with what she believed to be her best friend and boyfriend cheating together. She's settled into a boring routine and boring men. But a chance encounter with the only man who's ever owned her heart and broke it, as well as an invitation to reconcile with her former best friend. She drums up the courage to confront her. For Keys, Eminence was the one woman who owned his whole heart and soul, and when she left, he became a broken man. She had refused to listen to him explain that he hadn't cheated on her all those years ago, and now he's just trying to move on. He's become a business owner and a masterful Dom as he assuages his specific needs with no permanent submissives. But a chance encounter with Eminence at the grocery store brings up all the longing he's locked away. He and Eminence had a lot to has out, but the physical connection between the two of them was not one of them. And once she finds out the truth of what split the three of them up that day, she realises that she had her own part to play in the blame. Now she must decide and take a leap of faith for her career and in love.

I did not like this story at all. I wanted to, I truly wanted to but Eminence was so wish washy and just because she didn't like someone, they were always negative attributes associated with them that I thought it was juvenile though she was a woman in her 30's. Tanksley, was the guy that got away though his heart always stayed with Eminence. I can see little shards of why, but I still didn't like her. I even liked Eminence's best friend Jordyn better than her. I didn't want to finish the story I did not like this story at all. I didn't want to finish the story but since it was the last story in the boxed set of Scandalous Heroes, it almost felt like an obligation since I was so close to the "finish line". The story needs a major overhaul because the bones are there for a good story, it was just poorly executed.

Reviewed by Scarlett Roberts I would best describe this book as…meh. I could take it or leave it. It had some good points, and a few more bad points. I like the idea that the author had going; doesn’t everyone have that “one that got away”? The whole reasoning of how she got away though, was a little ridiculous, even for drama-filled teenagers. If I saw my best friend simply hugging my boyfriend, I would surely not flip-out, assume the worst, and never speak to either one of them again for 15 yea Reviewed by Scarlett Roberts I would best describe this book as…meh. I could take it or leave it. It had some good points, and a few more bad points. I like the idea that the author had going; doesn’t everyone have that “one that got away”? The whole reasoning of how she got away though, was a little ridiculous, even for drama-filled teenagers. If I saw my best friend simply hugging my boyfriend, I would surely not flip-out, assume the worst, and never speak to either one of them again for 15 years. I would need a little bit (just a teensy?) more hard evidence. One thing I did find hilarious? The reunion scene between her and her former best friend where they almost fight, and the author includes the taking off of the jewelry and shoes. Classic club-brawl actions! I couldn’t make a good connection with Eminence. Her library “boyfriend” from the beginning? Bizarre. I’m not sure what exactly was going on there. Was he a gay man in denial or hiding? I didn’t understand the relationship there of him not touching or kissing her? And why Eminence made such a big deal out of it and was allowing this guy to kind of treat her like dirt after only having 5 dates? I don’t know…I didn’t follow and found it weird. It was not a good way to set-up an introduction to the main character, it made me question and even maybe (just a little) dislike her. The chemistry between her and Keys at times, was really good…other times, so-so. I can be a little picky about amorous scenes and how they are set up, something about this author’s erotic vocabulary just didn’t mesh well with me. Even though I didn’t necessarily love this book, I think other readers might find it more enjoyable. It’s all about personal taste! While this book didn’t resonate with me, I can see where and how it could with a different reader. My rating for Last Call, 2 out of 5. Reviewer, Scarlett Roberts
