This book of Christian baby names is awesome! I like looking up friend's names to see what it means and where the name came from. Sometimes I will see if that person's character or behavior fits them. It is fun. I will share this information with them, which strikes up a great conversation. This book is really worth its weight in gold, a great conversation starter, and really nice to own! I received this book through Goodreads giveaways. Firstly, I want to thank Goodreads and the author, Catherine Uler for this lovely book. The "Complete Book of Christian Baby Names" book absolutely loves up to its claim. The thoroughness of this book is quite impressive, from the moment I first looked at the cover with what looks like a baby in "the thinker" pose, I was struck with how comprehensively this book covers the all basics you would expect of a baby names book. The thoroughness of this book is quite impressive, from the moment I first looked at the cover with what looks like a baby in "the thinker" pose, I was struck with how comprehensively this book covers the all basics you would expect of a baby names book. What makes this book exciting is the extra steps, from the outset you have a sense that the book aims at being more than a simple list of names. The book is organised very well, which allows you to scan the pages, look up the index, and flip through very quickly. There are lists of name popularity of course, but also classical, traditional and meaningful names alongside those more trendy, stylish or even quirky. The Top 100 list of Girl and Boy names - very useful for expecting or new parents or those who might be interested in learning about their own name. The book itself is broken into Girl names, and Boy names, but does contain some Unisex. In each respective half there are chapters dedicated to names from The Old Testament, The New Testament, Christian Concepts and Virtues, Early Martyrs and the Saints. Each chapter has information, helping to tell the story of where the name originates in the bible, and also little nuggets of insight from the author on how she came to compile the names and sometimes even listing why. All names are listed within the respective chapters are broken down by Origin, Significance, Popularity and, where possible, Spelling variations and Related names. Allowing you to easily research and review names you like, and easily disregard any you don't. This book would be a valuable reference for expecting or new parents, allowing them to make an informed decision, whilst also having a little fun.

This is one of the most comprehensive books on baby names that I've seen in a while. The author begins with an introduction and a brief explanation on how to use the book. The girls are first, followed by the boys. She first begins with Old and then New Testament names. But also listed are Christian concepts and virtues, Martyrs, and Saints. Each name has several aspects - Origin, Significance, Popularity, and also things like related names, or spelling variations. First I loved the cover. But the depth and layout of the book was also great. I love looking at baby names and learning of their origins and meanings. While soon to be parents are obviously the target audience, this book would also be wonderful for authors who are trying to name their characters. Definitely a fun book to own. I received this book free of charge from Goodreads in exchange for my honest review.
