He wants Cory and when she runs away from him, he just runs right after her. Cory is a professional thief whose only priority is to support her younger sister. Unfortunately, when self appointed team leader Jade finds out about Cory's new rich admirer she demands that Cory betray him. I really enjoyed all the action, and the sex between Cory and Van was scorching. Cory is bi-sexual and before she meets Van she has been having a casual affair with a woman. We do get a short FF scene right at the beginning but it was tastefully done and I'm pretty sure that now the H and h have met we won't be getting another. I can't wait to see how this story pans out. Run with me.” From the moment I started reading Volume 1 I fell in love with this series and once you start reading you really begin to understand just how damn perfect the covers are. I have never come across a book about Parkour or base running as it is known and the way the author describes the activity was absolutely breath taking. I felt the thrill of the run and with the added vivid descriptions and imagery your heart couldn’t help but thump, thump, thump. By day Cory is a bike messenger, but this is more as a smoke screen because by night she is part of a team of thieves who target electrical stores. These thieves are like no other, they have their MO down a pat and by using Parkour as a means of escape are virtually undetectable and cannot be followed. Cory was a beautiful character inside and out despite her nocturnal activities. Cory had been running all her life, never feeling loved or fitting in at home, just merely surviving until she was old enough to get out. She always felt like a mistake and her parents made sure she knew it. Cory had nothing to live for until her sister was born and then she became everything. Determined not to let her sister live the life that she had Cory does what she does so that her sister can have the life she didn’t. Cory pays for everything for her sister including her education, hence the activities that she currently finds herself doing. “What are you running from? My answer: Everything.” One night while running from their latest heist the crew are all being chased by another gang of Parkours, Cory is really good but the guy on her tail is even better. He eventually runs her down thoroughly impressed by how far and for how long she managed to evade him. With the adrenaline running high these two have one hell of a “on top of a building scene,” seriously hot!! But one time will never be enough and once their paths cross again, neither will be able to look back. “His body was a silhouette against the lights of the buildings that stretched up around us. He was a god or a superhero, something out of a myth or legend, too good to be true. Too good to be mine.” Van Collins is a professional photographer and has used his love of Parkour to get some out of this world shots that have elevated him to super stardom, insanely rich, he cannot believe that he has found the perfect woman. Someone that gets him, someone that loves Parkour as much as he does, someone that is just as good at it too and someone that he shares some intense chemistry with. Knowing the company that Cory keeps you know that the fact he is insanely rich is going to cause problems and when Cory is blackmailed to betray him, huge choices and sacrifices are made. “You don’t know anything, Van. If you did, you’d never want me. That’s the honest truth.” I loved the plot of this story, all the characters had their place and reason for being and all played a massive part in this tale. As I said above the way the Parkour is described has you salivating and if I wasn’t my age or build it is something I wouldn’t mind trying…well actually being afraid of heights probably not, but if I didn’t have a fear of heights this is something I would definitely want to do. Seeing a city from a totally different angle than anyone else, the peace and quiet, the burn of the chase, the adrenaline rush all these factors so vividly described that I lived this series. The romance side between Cory and Van had me swooning, neither character had really opened themselves up to love before and you could really feel their chemistry. From that first scene, you knew what they shared was powerful and I couldn’t help but champion these two along. Just a note Cory was bi before she met Van and there is one small F/F scene in the first book. “…how I feel about you, how you feel about yourself. I wanted you to fill that space on my wall. In my heart. In my life.” You certainly find out who your friends are the hard way and this is no different for Cory, I loved the way that the good ones stuck together and helped each other out when times got bad. This is a book about friendships and family, betrayal, forgiveness, second chances and living life to the max. This book is also about love, how when you find “the one” you know and will do anything and everything to make it happen even if your heart rules over your head. You’re good, Cory. Even when you’re bad.” This was my first Staci Hart read and it certainly won’t be last. Cannot wait to read what else this author has written. If this serial is anything to go by, I am in for a treat. www.theromancecover.com

Hardcore is a fast paced, fun read that breaks away from the typical erotic shorts. The book is told through Cory's POV, and starts with her running along roof tops in NYC. Cory is the "bad guy" in this series, which is a nice breath of fresh air from the typical innocent main characters. She's had issues with authority her whole life and makes a living stealing and getting a cut of the re-sales. On a job she literally run into Van, a rich photographer. Van is a nice guy through and through, believing in the best in people and is surprisingly optimistic. His good-guy personality is a good match for Cory's rough exterior, and they are drawn to each other right away. Without giving too much away, I'll just say Cory's relationship with Van ignites faster than she expected and comes with a lot of complications. You'll need to read part two and three to know how this one ends! I'll be grabbing Hardcore II as soon as it comes out!

So while I wait for the 2nd book in the Bad Habit's series to be released I went on a Staci Hart shopping spree. Because parts 2 & 3 were waiting for me! In the first installment we meet Cory, she's a little damaged and a lot lost. Between her day job and her nights running atop the city she and her gang of friends make a living breaking and entering. When escaping from a close call, a pack of fellow Parkour... Parourers...? (you know those folks who run, scale buildings, jump over shit.... yeah, them) spots the girls and give chase. But only one seems to be able to keep up with Cory and when he catches her, the pull is too much to deny. But Cory is nothing like her stranger. She does the wrong things (even if for the right reasons) but for the first time in forever, she's given hope. Until it's all torn away. This was a quick, fun read. The whole thing was very original and we even get a little f/f action for good measure. I am quickly becoming a Staci Hart junkie and am so glad that a friend recommended her books to me. I finished part one and knew that I'd be up for at least two more hours finishing this serial series.

I've had friends tell me for a while now that I would enjoy Hart's books and I have to say...they were right! WoW! From start to finish my adrenaline was pumping and my panties were on fire (in a good way)! I haven't been this excited about a series for a while. I liked Cory right away, but seeing how she interacted with her sister showed me a softer more vulnerable side to her. I also liked her sister. I think she's much stronger than Cory gives her credit for. Maybe we'll see more of that in later volume's? The fact that she jumped buildings for fun gave me a rush and a curiosity that surprised me. I was intrigued from the start and every time she started running, I wanted to join in! Maybe not the thieving part, but the high from jumping/running must be amazing! My most favorite part was when she meets Van and the events with him that follow. At first, I thought Van was just a fellow thief, but he's a really good man. The chemistry they have is off the charts hot! Their sexy times definitely had me riled up. Not only is Van sexy, but he is sincere and genuine. He's looking for someone who can give him the same. And for the first time in her life, Cory can't help but fall. Of course, Cory is forced to make some decisions that could ruin everything. Oh the drama! Hart has delivered the book that I've been waiting for. The book that I needed. I got originality, passion, adventure, and a craving for more! Bring on the next Volume! Seriously...get this book. After, Cory runs home to her friends and she has a relationship with this girl Erin. Now, it seems serious but Cory doesn't really take it as serious. Then after we learn that, we also learn that Cory has a younger sister and the money she makes goes to her sister's education because their parents don't really care for them. So when the guy that Cory had a one night stand with finds her and wants to get to know her. She learns that he is a famous photographer and has a painting worth millions of dollars and of course her friends want to steal it. But Cory might have feelings for this guy, so can she con him and get the money to pay her sister's tuition for high school and college?? I love this cover so much and I have been dying to figure out what this story is about based on the cover. This is a little outside of my comfort zone where I don't like F/F or M/M, but it isn't that wild. There is a small sex scene (Oral sex) between Cory and Erin. Though I am intrigued because this is a topic that hasn't been explored. Parkour and a group of girls that work together to steal hundreds of dollars of electronics. Heading off to Volume 2 and see what happens.

And there is one in particular that I am hoping gets a good beat-down later in the series. Van is also a runner, but he has embraced his running and has turned it into something beautiful. Like a superhero, he too bounds up building and scales skyscrapers. He is someone who always gets what he wants and right now he wants Cory. What happens when two people from different worlds but with the same soul get together? Something that maybe beyond fireworks? Only time will tell because Cory is faced with an impossible situation that she needs to attempt to figure out. This was well written and extremely fast paced. It was like a roller-coaster ride, quick and leaves your heart pounding. There was little down time, a lot of steam, and a whole number of scenarios that still need to play out. This was definitely a "hook, line and sinker" I'm caught up and want more. ~Jess

I fell hard for both Cory and Van. Each has something that just radiates with me. Cory has such a clear, raw, authentic voice, I couldn't help but immediately connect with her. I felt every thought, every emotion, as if it were my own. I wanted nothing more than for her to walk away from her current life and run off into the sunset with her perfect match. Van is absolutely it. I don't care what happens next. They MUST end up together. This man is perfection. Sex on legs. All that and a bag of chips. Whip cream and extra cherries on top. Oh, yes, he is F.I.N.E. BUT, as you can guess, things are complicated and it's not gonna get better anytime soon. Slide in, jump up, and hold on. HARDCORE is one helluva ride. Staci Hart doesn't hold back and that's what makes this story so fabulous and fresh. She's officially found her niche. Trust me when I say, HARDCORE will send your adrenaline sky high, have your face flushing, and your ladybits on fire, and your soul thirsting for a HEA. But more than anything, it will leave you begging for MORE.

I genuinely don't know where to start with this review. There's so much sexy goodness going on here it short circuited my brain. Bzzt. All gone. Beyond the sexy (and the sexy is really REALLY sexy), the character dynamic is so outstanding. Plus, there's a story here. A STORY. A freakishly engrossing one. Freakishly. Like, to the point where I had to walk away from the book for a while because I was so enraged over what one character was threatening to do to Cory. I don't rage often. I snark. The Good I love a book that starts out with a pure adrenaline rush, and what's more of a rush than a thief jumping, running, and clawing (parkours) her way across buildings in Hell's Kitchen while being chased by a hot guy, right? I also immediately liked the author's phrasing and writing style. Example... She thinks she gave the hot guy the slip and thinks: "I mourned my relief as I ran through my options." I love an author that can say in ONE concise, potent sentence what most authors take two The Good I love a book that starts out with a pure adrenaline rush, and what's more of a rush than a thief jumping, running, and clawing (parkours) her way across buildings in Hell's Kitchen while being chased by a hot guy, right? I also immediately liked the author's phrasing and writing style. Example... She thinks she gave the hot guy the slip and thinks: "I mourned my relief as I ran through my options." I love an author that can say in ONE concise, potent sentence what most authors take two or three paragraphs worth of musings to convey. It's a "The Real McCoy" meets adrenaline junkie parkour type of story that's certainly unique, but it does have a fair amount of problems in the details. Erotica: Disclosure of Female/Female Sex Scene and Bisexual MC I don't appreciate being blindsided by books that have sensitive, taboo, or trigger topics. The author specifies the book is erotica in the blurb, but doesn't warn that the female MC is bisexual and that the book contains a female/female sex scene. "erotica : works of art or literature that deal with sex and are meant to cause sexual feelings : erotic works" Authors need to stop using erotica as a catch-all disclosure label! This book's blurb should warn readers so they can gauge their comfort level with the content. Not all readers of erotica are comfortable with f/f, m/m, m/f/m, or f/m/f sex scenes AND should be warned of such inclusions before they BUY. It's about ethics and transparency in what we, the readers, are BUYING from you, the author! You've Got To Be F'ing Kidding Me! So female MC is chased by a random stranger across the city parkouring. He catches her and she just DEMANDS he screw her on a rooftop. Didn't see that shit coming at all! ^ Okay, a lota slutty, but hey, get in where you fit in. She runs off after the sex and they remain anonymous. The stranger asks around, figures out who she is, and arranges for her to deliver a package to him (she's a messenger). She's pissed; okay, fine, she wanted to remain an anonymous one roof stand... I get it. But WTH is with her calling him a creep over and over just because he wanted to meet her? She just stops and fucks some random guy chasing her BUT she thinks it is creepy for him to then track her down and ask her out. Good Gawd ... A series wtf book moment. Suspended Reality There are some elements that kinda take your basis in reality and kick it into deep space orbit. I mean he has a 15 million dollar painting and 1) he's a parkour photographer that got his big break on social media ~oookay~ 2) his apartment is just run of the mill shit on an average floor with limited security ~ he's a millionaire, right? ~ 3) he dialogues about having trust issues with people only interested in his money/status but turns around and trusts this woman he doesn't even know into his home with a 15 million dollar painting just hanging there ~TSTL? Idk?~ . Female MC describes herself as being out of high school 10 years, making her at least 28. I have a hard time fathoming a gang of chicks that've known each other since high school just running around through the night like Catwoman stealing shit FOR 10 FING YEARS! Bottom Line I'm at a loss of wtf to rate this book. Apparently, my peers like it. I liked the writing style and premise of the plot, but I wasn't crazy about any of the characters and had a hard time believing/imagining a lot of the details in the plot points. If it's free for you, then MAYBE give it a chance. If not, then I'd skip it. I don't, however, think I'll be reading the rest if the series.

Cory has a day job but not the kind that will provide the life she wants for her sister. She wants to see her live up to her potential and give her every opportunity that she was never given to do just that. Even if it means living a life of lying and stealing. Van- I have to say I loved Van. Cory and Van met under unique circumstances and their one night of no names exchanged rooftop sex was hot but not enough for either of them. When they are brought back together, Cory finds herself feeling things with Van that she hasn’t really felt before. She feels like she might be able to let him in and that is not something she is able to do with anyone else- not even her sister. Van doesn’t know who Cory really is and once he finds out- it will all be over. My only downfall to this storyline is that there is a bit of “cheating” happening. Well, kind of. So far it could be considered as that but not in a real emotional way. Cory is bi- she is in a sexual and comforting relationship with one of her best friends who happens to be a member of the gang. She does have one f/f encounter with her partner in between times with Van but she didn’t think she would ever see him again after their first time together so I’m not sure if it could really be considered cheating. I’m interested to see if Cory continues both relationships or if she stops her sexual relationship with her friend. This is a first book is a series of novellas and it did end on a cliffhanger. I am looking forward to the next book because I really loved Van. He is sweet and interesting. He really wants to get to know Cory and enjoy whatever time they can spend together.

ARC provided by author The first volume of Hardcore had me riveted from the very first page, throwing me straight into Cory's life as a runner and thief. It opened my eyes to the interesting sport(?) of parkour, something I knew of but never really understood until now. All the running, climbing, and jumping is described vividly, it was so easy to picture everything taking place. Cory is an interesting character. You'd think she's a typical bad girl but that's not the case. Yes, she's a thief but she has her reasons for it. She has some pretty high walls up, not letting anyone in. Until Van. At least he has the potential to take those walls down. But everything she has with him could come crashing down when he learns certain truths about her. "I can scale any wall in my way, and I never give up on what I believe in. You never stood a chance." Hardcore is an erotic serial, meaning the sex in this hour and a half read is plentiful. And freaking HOT. There's a particular shower scene in the beginning that I want to high-five Staci for. But even with the multiple sex scenes, it doesn't overshadow the actual story and for that I am grateful (I'm not a fan of erotica with no story.) This is a fantastic start to this three part serial. It's unique and edgy. It's action-packed, drama-filled, and quickly paced keeping you glued to the pages and let's not forget, it's off the charts hot. And after that epic cliff, I can't wait for the next volume to see where things go next! "His body was a silhouette against the lights of the buildings that stretched up around us. He was a god or a superhero, something out of a myth or legend, too good to be true. Too good to be mine."

Amazing. Really enjoyed this story. Cory is a strong female lead and I enjoyed how tough as nails she can be. Usually i like a lot of build up and back story before we really get down to the nitty gritty. I felt like Staci nailed this aspect while still having her fast paced crazy start. We just right into the story and it is a crazy ride from that point on. The characters in this story are Fabulous. Cory and Van weave a hot and enticing story for you that simply doesn't allow you to NOT fall in love with it. Cory is struggling with er life in ways that I don't even think she sees. She is doing her regular work as a messenger, and her other work with her runners. Throw in the complication of her sister and then Van into this mix and her life quickly becomes quite complicated. I loved when everything kinda of started to get complicated. I know that is terrible for the characters, but I was in the zone reading and seeing the build up begin. This story is expertly written. It flows wonderfully and the character development in such a short time was astounding. By the end of this volume I was hooked on both the story and the characters. I had SO many questions at the end of the book that I will definitely be reading the next one! SO GOOD! Amy's Review:    Well, Well, Well ... what have we here? This was my first read from Staci Hart. Thank you Brooke for suggesting such an awesome read!     The first few chapters of the book I was so confused about what was happening. I love when a book doesn't connect all the dots right away! Immediately I was swept away ... Cory, I mean what a sexy name! I personally love male names for female characters, so I was all in from page one. And a strong, energetic, hard working, sexy named female .. hells yes.     Cory is a bad a** mamajama. She struggles daily with her internal battles ~ loving her sister, wanting to provide for her, loving to run, the need to run ~ I felt for her. Van (and come on here, another cool a** name), is her opposite. Set in life, knowing what he needs and wants, very driven. I can not wait to learn more about Van in part two of this series.    The writing in this piece is fantastic. I love the way the story lines between all characters are melted together like a candle. I love how modern this story felt to me, I could picture it playing out on the big screen. I felt suspense, love, sheer enjoyment while reading. My only complaint is I wanted more ... but I am confident I will get it all in parts two and three of this series. I can not wait to enjoy the rest of Hardcore! Synopsis: *** Part 1 of a 3 part serial *** Cory James has never known a life where she wasn’t running. Running from the cops, her home, her past. Running from love. The only time she’s free is when she throws on her hood and takes to the roofs to become a part of New York, to climb to a place in the city where she doesn’t feel alone. Stealing is nothing, lying inevitable, byproducts of survival. A way for Cory to provide for herself and for her younger sister, Jill, give her the life Cory couldn’t have. For five years, Cory set up a long line of teetering dominos, one by one, choice by choice. Meeting Van is the first domino to fall, and once they crash into each other, it’s only a matter of time before her whole world is in danger of falling apart. She can tell herself over and again that she doesn’t care, but it’s a lie. She knows it from the first time she says his name, but she can’t let him in, not when she has a job to do, a job that could rip her life apart at the seams. One that she’ll have to betray Van to finish. He’ll follow however high she can climb, but she can only run for so long before she has to choose.

From beginning to end this story was intense, I loved the idea of having a group of cat burglars who are all pretty good at parkour. What is Parkour? par·kour (pärˈko͝or/) noun: parkour; noun: parcour; plural noun: parcours The activity or sport of moving rapidly through an area, typically in an urban environment, negotiating obstacles by running, jumping, and climbing. I thought Cory was a really kick ass character, but a little confused, I loved that she had a big heart but at times felt she was just a bit whiny. Van was a dream, such a sweetheart and yes he was a bit creepy there for a moment but, Damn, he is a keeper. I am so worried so about these two. I love the chemistry they have and am just scared of what the outcome will be. The ending, WOW, I fucking HATE Jade, she is a major asshole and is need of a serious beating to knock her ass off that high horse. She rubbed me the wrong way through the entire book. Lets get to the story and the sex, because you know you want to know about the sex, for an erotica this was done VERY well, I don’t mind sex in my books, but erotica tends to have a lot more than I like, this I didn’t mind it having so much, I have to be honest and say my favorite is the shower scene, not saying what but you need to read it for yourself to find out, HOT. The story is fast paced and intense I had a very hard time putting this down, the end was one hell of a cliffhanger and I can’t wait to get my hands on the next one. I gave it the 4.5 stars because of my issues with Cory however, I really enjoyed this book a lot, and being a person who prefers a story with her sex this was an excellent example of the type of Erotica I enjoy and a great book for people not sure if they will like Erotica or not. Awesome Job Staci Hart as always <3 :) [divider] Thank you so much for stopping by to check out my review Hope you have a great day and Happy Reading! Love these little serials that have become popular in the New Adult genre lately! Each one is the perfect length to read in one sitting, and it makes it feel like the book is going by super fast when you have these three little chunks. Each one is the perfect length to read in one sitting, and it makes it feel like the book is going by super fast when you have these three little chunks. So far, after Volume One, I'm LOVING this series! First of all, the setting of New York City and the focus on the hobby/sport of parkour is absolute perfection. I love it when I get to read about something that I don't know too much about, and Hart does a really, really good job of writing the descriptions of the parkour itself. It was very easy for me to imagine exactly how it was happening, and it was just such a neat addition to the book's plot. It kind of reminded me of the Pushing the Limits series in that way, how each book in that series is a romance novel that also revolves around some type of sport or hobby. I also am kind of enjoying the fact that the main characters in Hardcore are thieves. This portrayal of them being criminals is done in such a way that's so far very different from other New Adult books in which there are criminals. Even though it's easy for me as a reader to point out the bad things they're doing, Hart also manages to make me understand and sympathize with each of them. Sure, they might be criminals...but they're nice criminals and nothing they're doing is hurting anybody. It's such a fine line! Another thing I really like about Hardcore is that the main female character is bisexual. YAY for bisexual characters!! As a bisexual myself, I love to read about girls with similar sexual preferences as me, and I also love it when (like in this case) it's not made a big deal of or is an important part of the plot. It always makes me so happy when non-heterosexual characters are portrayed as being completely normal in books and nobody ever brings up their sexuality as being "a thing." We've come so far in that specific way over the past couple of years, and seeing characters like that in so many books now is a really exciting thing for me. Finally, the only reason I'm not giving this five stars, and the one negative about this series so far, is that I'm not a huge fan of the romance element. The sex scenes have been alright, but I felt like the relationship between Cory and Van is going super fast and I'm not really into that. Sometimes that insta-lust thing works for me in books, but for some reason it didn't in Hardcore and I'm having trouble connecting to them as a couple at this point. I'm hoping that Volume Two changes my mind! As of right now, I'm still kind of shipping Cory and Erin.

I usually skip through most sex scenes because well... they can be downright boring. These ones aren't, but also it's nice to have a story that actually makes the book worth reading. If you skim reviews: If you like a couple good steamy scenes, solid writing, and great character dynamics, then give this a shot. 1. Characters: "Do we care?". HECK YES, WE CARE! Cory (the heroine) kindof sucks you in. She's a mystery. You see her inner conflicts and her struggles to do the right things. Development. Staci gives us a good set of clues that give us enough to start piecing who Cory actually is. Relationships between characters. Staci really knows how to show character dynamics. It's what makes all of her works worth reading. Everyone has a different and very clear dynamic. Seeing Cory's relationships with Erin, Jade, Jill, and Van over the course of what seems like a couple of days really does reveal a lot about each character. 2. Plot: "World-building" The world that Staci created was pretty straight forward. I could easily visualize everything. "Did it hold our interest?" Come on now. I basically love anything Staci writes. Each thing is better and better. I was never uninterested in the story, but my interest definitely kicked in about 75% in once (view spoiler)[ Cory resolved to tell Van the truth about everything that was going on in her world. (hide spoiler)] 3. Plausibility: Can we suspend our sense of reality while we read these and still have it make sense? Yeah, of course. It's set in our modern day without anything crazy going on. I really wish I knew where in Cory's moral compass she first decided to go on these jobs which is one of the only plausibility things I struggle with, but that really isn't anything. 4.Pure entertainment value. OH MY WORD. THAT ENDING THOUGH. The antagonist (aka. that bitch, Jade) is so awesome to hate. Van is really interesting. I kindof might be adding him to my book boyfriend list.

She's doing bad things for the right reasons, and has a lot in that head of hers that is messed up. I can't wait to see how this series goes because she has lots and lots of stuff to work on! Shel: Van is also someone I want to know more about...if there's anyway I could have that shower scene (actually EITHER shower scene) repeated with me as the main character, I'd be eternally grateful. Court: Hahhahaha. Those scenes were hot. As is this character, and his views on his art, his life, and his passions. Seeing people and things for their absolute finery and little things that artistic people usually get more than "normal" people...Van is just as intriguing as Cory. Their meeting alone, y'all...whoa. Shel: *ahem* ANYWAY. I'm interested in seeing what happens with Van, too. Will he remain as steady and good-natured as he seems? Is there more to him than what he appears to be? If he remains as is, I could totally dig it and if his story is more than meets the eye, I can get behind that too. Court: I would like to believe that he will always be the good guy...BUT...I bet there is some dirty grit to him too, considering how they met! Shel: The gang of girls Cory runs with also has me full of questions; I want to know more about them and how they all fit together. I really had no feel for this book before I started it and honestly I’m glad that I jumped in without having seen a bunch of teasers or excerpts for it. This is the first of Staci Hart’s books that I’ve read and I have to say it’s pretty brilliant. Serials are a huge thing right now in the indie world and I personally love them, but they are a lot of the same type of storylines. Hardcore is a stand-out among the rest. It’s a hybrid story of sorts; sports, crime, and erotic romance all perfectly meshed together to make one unforgettable storyline. A lot of reviewers will rehash the plot and characters, but because this is a novella I don’t want to give you even those small spoilers. What I will tell you is the character development is spot on, I instantly connected with Cory. She’s one of those that you can’t help but root for even as you want shake her a little. Van was the same way for me… instant connection and the fire between him and Cory was off the charts from the first moment they met. Hardcore Volume One is extremely fast paced, I swear I didn’t put it down until I got to the end and once I got there I immediately wanted Volume Two. I even enjoyed the evil Jade and her jerk wad brother. I loved hating them. The world building was done well and everything was easily pictured. I really liked how the scenery got described on the run. You can easily picture the walls that were climbed, the city, the fire escapes, the warehouse were the girls lived, Vans apartment building and the artwork that was beautifully described. This books has it all Great Story, Kick butt/ smart mouthed/ mysterious female lead, Gorgeous /knows what he wants male, A evil chick you’ll love hating, Hot sex scenes, Wonderful world building , female thieves and adrenaline pumping action. Volume 1 of Hardcore grabbed me and had me turning the pages non stop till the end and Oh what an end it was! I’m excited to grab Volume 2 and continue the story especially after what went down between Jade and Cory.

As I read, my opinion on the opener dwindled, for the most part. I get it. I understand the idea behind it and how it relates to the story. The story grew, and so did my fascination with the characters and where they were heading. This is a very unique story. I haven't read anything like it yet. That is quite rare. This isn't an "alpha" book or a biker book or a rock star book. Thank goodness! I love when an author gives me something no one else hasn't. Cory and Van are both mysterious characters. Staci slowly shows us who they are and what they are all about in this book. As the story kept building, so did my interest. I was curious what would come next. I read this book with ease and was curious to how everything would play out.... It should go without saying, there is a cliffhanger. This is a serial, after all. So all you ney-ers on cliffhangers, you should wait for all three books. I would hate for you to read it and get mad because of the wonderful, jaw-dropping, heart-pounding cliffhanger at the end. Let talk for just one minute on that cliffhanger I just mentioned... WHAT? Yes, I knew there would be a cliffhanger, but WHAT? Ugh. Staci, you left me hanging in the worst way! Thank you.

I love when the characters live a lifestyle so far-fetched than my own and the life of a youth running around new York rooftops and robbing electronics stores is something I have never quite experienced. Cory is exciting and a bit dangerous. She has secrets and regrets and when she realizes that she could actually feel things for Van she knows it’s best for him to stay away . . .but can she? “Van was living in a way I didn’t know existed in the context of real life. He was a hot match in a cold, dark room. Being near him was like being able to see for the first time.” Hardcore: Vol 1 was well-written and very exciting with it’s fast paced story, sexy characters and dangerous lifestyles. I absolutely cannot wait to continue Van and Cory’s story and see how far Cory is willing to go to protect those she loves. ~miranda **sidenote: This serial did have a f/f scene I wasn’t expecting. While personally I am ok with this I do know it is not for everyone and thought it should be mentioned.

I started reading this book, got a few pages in and decided that I really needed to go and clean up the kitchen. So I started cleaning it, but stopped so I could read this book. I couldn't put it down at all. There is action in this book. Not the blow 'em up kind of action, but running, jumping, leaping, scaling, that kind of action. There is also some thievery. Cory is a runner. She is a good one. No one has ever been able to catch her, except HIM. Van is a photographer. He gets those picture from high up that everyone has always wanted to take. He sees this person running, running like she stole something. He can easily keep up with this person, but was shocked to see when he finally did catch up that it was a girl. I really want to give this book more than 5 stars, but they only go up to 5. I was completely hooked with this book. There are some H.O.T. scenes in this book as well. The only thing that I didn't like about this book was Jade. I know that she was written as the bad guy. But, she is pretty evil. She has Cory by the hypothetical balls. If you do not get this book, you will be missing out!!

So I just finished reading this book a couple of days ago and oh my goodness, I don't think I have developed such an attachment with characters in a long while and I am an avid bookworm. First of all, you will definitely care about the characters. Cory has such a mystery enveloped around her that you can't help but search to figure her out. Jade is probably the most perfect personification of pure evil, but really. I absolutely hated her. Staci manages to make you care about the characters to the level of shouting at the page in frustration and feeling utter hopelessness in your inability to help them. The story arc is definitely interesting in that there is clear yet detailed side plots that constantly wrap around the central story and keep you interested and quickly devouring page after page. It is definitely one of those "losing track of time and space and reality because this book is the most important thing right now, screw priorities" stories. It is definitely something that should be explored if you love a love story with an appropriate amount of hot sexy scenes, marked with the adrenaline of action and explosive emotions by Cory discovering things about herself and Van in a much similar way that we all experience that fear and excitement of new deep love. Rating *****J’adore/Nous Adorons: World-changing, we could not put it down even if we dared to try. And, we might just read it again. We would recommend it to anyone. ~S

This book was a lot of firsts for me. I had to go look up the term "parkour" and I'm still not quite sure how to pronounce it. For others of you that may be in the dark (from dictionary.com) "the sport of moving along a route, typically in a city, trying to getaround or through various obstacles in the quickest and most efficientmanner possible, as by jumping, climbing, or running". Sounds pretty cool and something that would probably kill my uncoordinated self. The descriptions of this activity This book was a lot of firsts for me. The descriptions of this activity were amazing - you can definitely get a feel for the thrills of parkour by reading this. Cory is a criminal. She's a thief, and she's pretty good at it. Of course she has her good reasons to be doing this, and it gives a bit of a super hero feel at times. She has her own moral code and when she's asked to break it, she's not quite sure what to do. Her first meeting with Van is quite the memorable encounter, and I have to admit that he was pretty resourceful in tracking down this elusive girl. Volume one is just the beginning of the romance, and as a serial we do not see a happily ever after just yet. The romance is definitely beginning and I am rooting for them to be together - they would just be so cute running along the rooftops holding hands. We are left with a cliffhanger as Cory is put in a horrible position of having to make a difficult choice. I can't wait to see what happens next! *This book was received in exchange for an honest review*

Solid 4.5 Stars! Well, Well, Well ... what have we here? This was my first read from Staci Hart. Thank you Brooke for suggesting such an awesome read! The first few chapters of the book I was so confused about what was happening. I love when a book doesn't connect all the dots right away! Immediately I was swept away ... Cory, I mean what a sexy name! I personally love male names for female characters, so I was all in from page one. And a strong, energetic, hard working, sexy named female .. he Solid 4.5 Stars! Cory is a bad ass mamajama. She struggles daily with her internal battles ~ loving her sister, wanting to provide for her, loving to run, the need to run ~ I felt for her. Van (and come on here, another cool ass name), is her opposite.

Cory James is one tough chick who relies on herself in every aspect of her life. She leads a duplicitous life - doing what she needs to do to protect and support her sister. She's a complex character who allows no one to truly see who she is at her core because there's too much at risk in doing so. As a thief, Cory puts her life on the line every day, but her newest task may just lead to her downfall in more ways than one because she may have just met her match in every sense of the word. Sullivan "Van" Collins is not afraid to take risks and work for things that he wants, and he wants Cory, especially after one hot night on a roof. He's sinfully sexy and the complete package, and he allows Cory to be free when they're together - something that she never feels she is. Cory and Van are the perfect pair but Cory's back is to the wall and at the end of volume 1, she's put in a precarious position - one that could cost her everything. What a fantastic start to an edgy serial! Its fast-paced, raw, and off the charts hot. I can't wait to see where Hart takes Cory and Van next.
