Full disclosure: I am a friend of the author, I assisted him (in my professional capacity) in his research, and I'm listed in the book's acknowledgements. As more than one reviewer mentions in the flyleaf of the book, this is a very well-researched volume. The extensive end-notes alone are worth the price of admission, and the book is filled with photographs, newspaper articles, and Caniff's artwork. The author does a very good job of covering this interesting aspect of the Steve Canyon comic str Full disclosure: I am a friend of the author, I assisted him (in my professional capacity) in his research, and I'm listed in the book's acknowledgements. It's definitely worth reading for fans of the strip, as well as those interested in the history of the University of Missouri and its hometown, Columbia MO.

In compliance with FTC guidelines, I have won this book through the Goodreads Giveaways. I had read the Steve Canyon comic strip in the 70's and 80's, but had never paid much attention to Miss Mizzou. Learning about the character and the creator Milton Caniff was a fun and informative experience. I'm glad I won the book and will be keeping it in my reference shelf. My Rating System: * couldn't finish, ** wouldn't recommend, *** would recommend, **** would read again, ***** have read again.

2015 Reading Challenge I enjoyed this book. Since I am not a Columbia native, I don't know about many of the historical quirks this town has to offer. I enjoyed reading about Miss Mizzou.
