These characters, this story, is so dear to my heart - so very special to me. I hope Jake, Chelsea and the kids make you laugh, and make you teary-eyed. I hope they leave you smiling and thinking of them long after you're finished reading. And I hope Sustained becomes as special to you as it is to me. Thank you for reading! They had to know what happened. They had to understand that I couldn't be blamed. That it was all her fault. Prosecutor: Where were you last Thursday? Me: I never left my house. Prosecutor: How did you spend the day? Me: Well this is going to be embarassing. I planned to wake up early, run on the treadmill for an hour, study case law for my essay and later at evening visit my cousin who celebrated her name day. *hesitates* Prosecutor: But? Me: But I overslept, ate more candies than I dare count, didn't actually study because I checked Goodreads every 15 minutes, faked illness to avoid the visit and spent the rest of my day on my comfy chair reading Sustained. Talk about life goals, right? *nervous laughter* The chair is now decorated with the imprint of my butt. Prosecutor: The visual was not necessary. Tell me, why did you choose to spend the evening this way? Me: Many reasons. The main one is named Jake Becker. An intimidating and cocky defense attorney, a coldhearted bastard and control freak that never showed any emotion because he never felt anything. But when he met Chelsea McQuaid and her orphan nieces and nephews he showed a softer, sweeter side that made my heart dance paso doble and butterflies hosted a disco party in my stomach without my permission. Witty, delicious, smartass and wicked in bed, Jake melted my heart along with my panties. Oh boy, sweating, steamy Jake with his lickable abs and tattoos and his dirty thoughts made me-what was the question again? Prosecutor: *clears throat* I think we got your point. But you don't expect me to believe that your butt imprint is the result of ehem, Jake's hotness alone. Me: No it was team work actually. Sweet and caring Chelsea who sacrificed everything for her family played an important role. And of course her awfully loud but adorable nieces and nephews that made Jake a family man as soon as they started puking and he took care of them. *dreamy sigh* Prosecutor: What you're saying confirms that you are indeed responsible for Social Life's death. Your Honor, I think- Me: Wait, wait, wait it was not my fault! I couldn't help it, you have to believe me! The actual murderer is Emma Chase! Prosecutor: *gasps* Why on Earth is it her fault? Me: Because her writing erased everything from my brain except the want, no not want, the need to turn the pages! Because Sustained was so much better than Overruled, because she combined tender and sexy and funny in a way that left me craving for more! The entire book was narrated in Jake's POV and I didn't mind one bit because being inside his head the entire time was so hilarious that I almost peed myself. And snorted. I mean come on, he sang One Direction to a 7-years-old! Jake and Chelsea and the kids stole my heart and since she created them she stole my heart. Last time I checked stealing was illegal so you have to add theft to the charges. Prosecutor: Are you seriously saying that there wasn't even a minor flaw in this book? Me: Actually there was a time towards the end that Jake made the stupidest decision ever and I kept yelling at him but I also found it realistic, because we knew who he was from the start, his fears and his shortcomings. Of course this didn't stop me from desperately wanting to collaborate with the Dark Powers and- Prosecutor: *stares suspiciously* Me: I plead the Fifth! *sighs* You have to understand, I am the victim here! Narrator: And this is pretty much how things went on for the rest of the trial. Now it is your turn, dear readers, to determine who is to blame, the evil author who turned Katerina into a puppet, or Katerina for not resisting the temptation? Unfortunately, this was not the last time I dealt with legal troubles (and I don't mean studying for my LL.M.). If you want to find out why the Law was not done with me yet, you can click here.

It was hilariously funny, sexy, romantic, heart-warming, and kinda badass! If you love reading stories about heroes and heroines with kids, then this is definitely a must-read recommendation! Jake is the kind of guy who plays by this own rules. As a high powered criminal defence lawyer who can get just about anyone out anything, who is on top of his game, and who lets nothing slow him down, he never attaches any strings to the never ending slew of women who come through his bedroom. But everything in his life changes when a chance encounter crosses his paths with Chelsea, a twenty-six year old who dropped out of her college life when her brother and wife were killed in a tragic car crash leaving her as the sole guardian of their six young children. Almost against his own will, Jake found himself drawn into their lives. He couldn't stop thinking about Chelsea, found himself growing attached to the kids with every passing visit, and even though it went against everything he'd planned for in life, suddenly he was attending One Direction concerts, Googling how to change a diaper, arranging a babysitter so he could take Chelsea out on dates.... and let me tell you, it was absolutely hilarious!!!! Guys, I was laughing SO HARD!!!!!! Okay. I can do this. I’ve been arrested — spent time in lockup with genuinely dangerous guys. I’ve been in street fights without rules where no one was coming to break it up — and I’ve won. I’ve conquered the insurmountable challenge of earning a law degree and dealing with the self-centred jackass who are my clients without committing aggravated assault. It’s a diaper. How hard can it be? I carry [the baby] to his room, lay him on the pad on his dresser, and look him in the eyes. “Work with me, buddy, okay?” Then, with one hand on his chest so he doesn’t roll away, I Google it. Gotta love modern technology… I get the diaper off, get him cleaned up with the wipes. I squeeze some white pasty shit out of a tube onto his ass, because I’m not sure if he’s red, but it’s there, so I’ll use it. I lift his kicking legs and slide a fresh diaper underneath him. And then — without warning — a hot stream of piss, like a fireman’s hose, arches in the air, coating my shirt with expert aim. I glare down at the baby. “Seriously, man?” He just smiles around the hand he’s chewing on. Fucking Google didn’t mention this. Ohhhh between the adorable and uproariously comical antics that the kids got into (which he subsequently would often bail them out of), the sexy swoon of the building romance, the downright badass lawyering, and the fast-paced story, this book kept me laughing, swooning, and flipping pages like crazy!! You can read it as a complete standalone novel. Technically this is the second standalone in a series of standalones but you do not have to read the first one first. I read this alone and loved every word! It was also really nice that despite being a very 'light' read, this book also had quite a lot of depth and character growth too. Both individually and collectively, this unlikely group of characters came a long way over the course of this book and it was pretty heart-melting to see them slowly become a family unit. The whole book is told from Jake's POV and Emma Chase is an absolutely genius at writing from the male perspective. It's so on point!! It feels like you're literally right in his head!! PURE GOLD! Heehee, oh and I have to share one more quote from the kids. Gotta love 'em!! “I think he’s dead.” “He’s not dead — he’s still breathing.” “Can you breathe if you’re dead?” “No. Well, maybe. But you’d need a ventilator.” *Sniff, sniff.* “He smells like he’s dead.” There’s pressure against my eyelid. And then it’s pried open — revealing Rosaleen’s blurry, peering face. “Are you dead?” she yells. Apparently she suspects I’m also deaf. I reclaim my eye with a jerk of my head. “Yes, I’m dead.” I roll onto my side, away from the voices. “Let me rest in peace.” LOVE IT!! :D This book was definitely one of my favorites of the year. I highly recommend it for anyone looking for a fun, light-hearted romance to swoon over and fall in love with! Trust me, this one's a winner!! Rating: 4.5+ stars. Standalone Adult romance. _______________________________________ For more of my reviews, book news and updates: ✦ Main blog: Aestas Book Blog ✦ Facebook Blog Page ✦ Twitter ✦ Subscribe by email

But one scare makes him want to change his ways and start to date before sleeping with girls. Jake is the type of guy who isn’t planning on settling down. He doesn’t do commitment or relationships. Then he meets Chelsea and the six nieces and nephews she’s recently been given custody too. Chelsea’s entire life was changed when her brother and his wife died leaving behind six children between the age of baby and teen. Now instead of grad school, she’s changing diapers and taking kids to practices and school events. Guys aren’t even on her radar right now. Until Jake comes into the picture. Chelsea and Jake were wonderful together. I loved the build up when it came to their relationship. “Do you want me?”
“All the time. I can’t remember not wanting you anymore.” Jake really is the best. He’s so likable and seeing him with the kids was fantastic. That was probably my favorite part of the book. Whether it’s getting the kids kicked out of piano lessons, playdates, teaching them how to fight or giving some unsolicited advice, it’s guaranteed to have your heart melting and have you rolling with laughter. “Riley, boys your age… are really not worth your time. They’re selfish and stupid. It’s not their fault; they’re just programed that way- by they’re still a lost cause. I think you should stay away from all of them until you’re at least… twenty-five. Or… have you considered being a lesbian?” She looks at me blankly. “That is so offensive.”
I raise one hand. “Just trying to be helpful.” Jake and Chelsea’s story is one I would highly recommend to anyone who’s looking for a story that will make you laugh and make your heart happy! I love books with kids in them and Jake with the kids made this story. All Emma Chase fans should check this one out. This is her best work since Tangled. One of the most entertaining books I’ve read lately! “You just make everything… better.”

Fortunately for the character that situation resolves early in the book but it leaves him making some lifestyle changes. Emma Chase knows how to write the male pov. I don’t know how she does it but I love Jake even more than I loved Drew from her Twisted series. Jake is ‘harsh, cynical, brutally honest, yes - but never sappy.’ Reading the story from his pov was EXCELLENT. He’s met his match with Chelsea who’s kind hearted and strong-mind. She gave up her life to keep her six nieces and nephews from becoming orphans after their parents were killed two months prior in a car accident. Sweet and Salty Mixing a ‘Mother Teresa’ with a defense attorney gives you that hard to put down flavor of something extraordinary. I didn’t want SUSTAINED to end. The overall chemistry between the couple and the six kids kept me captivated. ”HI!” the two-year-old replies with a deceptively sweet smile. The six kids ranging from baby to teen years had me running the gamut of emotions from heartbreak to laughing. Ms. Chase nailed the kids and their mannerisms and behaviors. The two year old and her one word of “Hi” was hilarious. There are books where I think why did the author create ‘so/so’ character because they added nothing to the story. This is not the case with these children - each one had a distinctive voice and part in the story. I'm seriously impressed with how entertaining Sustained was from the start to the end. RELEASE DATE: August 25, 2015 pre-order | order: http://amzn.to/1MotUYy SERIES Each book can be read as a standalone. **Complimentary copy in exchange for an honest review.**

Their joy, their laughter, their love. I want to come home to it, bask in it, be the reason for it. But even more than that, I want to deserve them. Emma Chase has another hit series on her hands!! I absolutely LOVED the "Tangled" series and this one got off to a fabulous start with Overruled. I know some people had issues with book one but that one knocked my socks off!! We met Jake Becker in book one. He was Stanton's roommate and co-worker at the same law firm. Jake is a bonafide ladies man. He doesn't date. He only has casual sex and usually it's never more than two times with the same woman. Once the sex is over with, he can't get away fast enough from the women that he brings home. Until he gets the scare of his life from one of his one night stands. He realizes that casual sex is like playing Russian Roulette, and that maybe he needs to start dating and being a little more particular about who he picks for sexual partners. Chelsea McQuaid is a young woman who finds herself suddenly the sole guardian of her six young nieces and nephews. Her brother and sister-in-law were recently killed in a fatal car accident. One of her nephews, Rory, is acting out and becoming a bit of a juvenile delinquent. He tries unsuccessfully to pick pocket Jake. When Jake sees a bit of himself in the kid, he decides not to press charges but to bring him home to his parents. Instead he comes face to face with Chelsea and he is instantly attracted to her. So you can pretty much guess he is going to form a bond with all the children and vice versa. That there will be many cute moments between Jake and the kids. One of my faves, was when he sings a One Direction song to young Rosaleen to help her sleep. Also I swooned a bit during the scenes between Jake and his mentor, Judge Atticus Faulkner, who is suffering from advanced Alzheimers. Yes, Jake was pretty perfect for most of the story. I think I didn't fall madly in love with this one because of the heroine. I didn't hate her at all. She just wasn't that special in my opinion. She seemed to be a very dull character. I didn't feel like she was really into Jake or had any fire within her until I got to about the 75% mark in the story. Then I was thinking this book might turn out to be a five star read after all. But, then she went back to being a bit flat for me again. This lady needed a little more spunk. I didn't think she was good enough for Jake. The story ends perfectly for our couple and for some familiar friends from book one! I also loved that we get the prologue and first chapter of Appealed, Brent's story, at the end of this book. I am so very anxious to get to Brent. I have a feeling it's going to be amazing!!!

Jake is Washington D.C.’s up and coming defense attorney and effectively does the one night stand pattern until he gets scared straight. Jake’s world is never the same when he meets Chelsea McQuaid. Chelsea is a twenty-six year old raising her SIX nieces and nephews after her brother and sister-in-law’s death. Jake’s attraction to Chelsea and his interactions with the children was so very well done. I found myself reading sections to family members so they could enjoy Emma Chase’s fantastic sense of humor. I conveniently left out all those steamy sex scenes keeping them only for myself. The secondary characters were fantastic especially Jake’s mother and the Judge. Jake and Chelsea learn how to handle the children and tackle several obstacles including themselves. The story was so very entertaining in the fact my staying up into the early morning hours goes to prove that the storyline delivery was so very well executed. This novel is definitely as enjoyable as Tangled and can be read as a standalone! ”Everyone else in the room can see it…”

But this book sent me OVER THE MOON. Ahhh, I’m SO happyyy you have no idea!!! If there’s one thing defense attorney Jake Becker doesn’t need in his life, it’s complications. That is until Chelsea McQuaid and her six orphaned nieces and nephews come along and complicate the ever-loving hell out of his life. I loved this so much. It was stinking cute and super sweet and adorable and funny and heartwarming and all the other synonymous adjectives you can think of. I was all smiles and giggles, but then I was also brought close to tears. I swear I was the happiest for the duration it took me to finish this book. Sustained was told from the perspective of the male lead. So that was unusual and interesting to say the least. Jake embodied all the brooding alpha hero qualities you often find in your run of the mill romances. He valued his work above all else, functioned on casual hookups, and didn’t do relationships. He was cocky enough to say things like, Exhibit 1: I move forward, bracing my hands on the arms of her chair—caging her in. “ ‘Soft’ isn’t in my vocabulary—I’m still as hard as they come.” I smirk. “And after.” Exhibit 2: I’ve heard similar compliments before. What can I say? When God was passing out dick, he gave me extra. He was a bit of a manwhore. His immediate reaction upon meeting Chelsea was to get into her pants. There was also this make out scene with one of his colleagues (don’t worry, it didn’t escalate into some nasty OW drama), but thank God they were interrupted before things got too far. Basically, he was a jerk. But whatever right? Cause when he was with Chelsea and the kids . . . that’s THE BEST part! He got them out of trouble, gave them advice, took care of them, accompanied them to One Direction concert, and a lot more. The kids were my everything. Rory (9), Rosaleen (7), and Regan (2) were my favorite. “Oooh . . . Aunt Chelsea called Jake the D-word!” Rory’s voice carries into the kitchen. “Dipshit?” “No.” “Dumbass?” “No.” “Douchebag?” “What's a douchebag?” “Rory!” Chelsea and I yell at exactly the same time. There was nothing out of ordinary about the romance. Looking at Jake, his history, and his “I don’t want your baggage. You deserve better.” BS, you could probably tell how the relationship went down. I mean, you’d get frustrated with him, think he should’ve pulled his head out of his arse sooner, and that Chelsea should’ve let him grovel some more. But it was all good. “Is that what you want?” she asks quietly. “Do you want me?” I lose myself in those clear blue eyes. Endless and cerulean, like tropical seas. And my voice is barely a whisper. “All the time. I can’t remember not wanting you anymore.” Honestly, that cover is a little misleading. There’s so much goodness in this that don’t just involve two people getting hot and bothered with each other. Something inside me crumbles, under the weight of all the things I want. I want her—this fearless, stunning woman. And I want the kids. Those perfect, awful, amazing children—whom she loves with every inch of her soul. I want them to be mine. Mine to hold, mine to protect and teach. Their joy, their laughter, their love. I want to come home to it, bask in it, be the reason for it. But even more than that, I want to deserve them. This is an old release, so it’s possible you’ve read it. But if you’re like me and your idea of sexy is watching some selfish bastard get domesticated by six wonderful kids and her aunt who as cliché as she might be (beautiful face & perfect body) is also capable and loving, then Sustained is right up your alley. PS. Massive thanks to konstantina avouri (@greekmuse) for the recommendation! You just gained me my new favorite book and made my weekend. (Read as an Audiobook)

No one, and I mean no one gives male POV quite like Emma Chase. The woman is the queen of male POVs and nothing beats her. While Drew from Tangled is still my number one, Jake is now right there alongside with him. I want to tell you that I liked this book, but that'd be an outright lie. Because I didn't just like it. I fucking loved it. Hard. I had the immense pleasure to meet Emma at an author signing earlier last month, and hearing her talk about this book alone let me know that I'm in for a heck of a treat. Why? Because when an author is clearly so passionate about a character and book that her entire face lights up when she talks about it, you just know that it will be transferred to the writing. And you know what? It's so true. The writing and the characters practically leap off the pages at you. The romance, the MCs, the secondary characters, the story, the kids, EVERYTHING about this book just did it for me. It was absolutely fabulous. You don't have to be an asshole." I shrug. "I don't HAVE to be...it's just easier that way." Yep. That'd be Jake and he's one of those. You know the type I'm talking about. The womanizing, successful types that thinks that relationships are for suckers. But then again you also know what they say about "the bigger they are." And when Jake falls, he definitely falls hard. Jake was a character that I fell for hard in just the first chapter. The man is a successful defense attorney but there's just something so sardonic about him that he endears you to him straightaway. Criminal defense really isn't so different from proctology. In both fields, it's one asshole after another. He's the asshole at work and outside of it and he's just fine with that. But then a chance meeting with a woman tilts his entire world on it's axis, especially when the woman's six orphaned nieces and nephews steal his heart right along with her. I have to say that Jake's "manny" relationship with those kids absolutely melted my heart. It was easily one of my favorite parts of this book. His banter with them never failed to put a goofy smile on my face. I honestly couldn't get enough of it. Riley, boys your age....are really not worth your time. They're selfish and stupid. It's not their fault; they're just programmed that way- but they're still a lost cause. I think you should stay away from all of them until you're at least...twenty-five. Or...have you considered being a lesbian?" The romance, while almost secondary to the story, was perfectly balanced with it though. I'm not sure if that makes sense but it does in my head. What I mean is, it wasn't ALL romance, but there was just the right amount of it to bring this book from good to absolutely fantastic. There's nothing better for me than to watch the "asshole" fall and fall heard for a woman when he least expects it, and watching Jake fall for Chelsea was perfection. Now I'm going to make you come. And it's going to be ever bit as fucking good for me as it is for you. Probably better." Don't get me wrong, both Chelsea and Jake are far from perfect and I wanted to shake them for their stupidity more than a few times. But at the same time it just worked. I adored these two together. It wasn't instant and I loved the burn of their sexual chemistry until they finally ignited together. Sustained was just one of those laugh-out-loud, feel good romances that I never wanted to end. It was funny, and sweet, and oh so sexy. It reminded me exactly why I fell in love with Emma Chase's writing and heroes to begin with. In a word, it was perfect. It was everything I've come to expect from this incredibly talented writer and yet so much more. I loved the absolute hell out of it. I can't recommend this book enough. You will fall in love with Jake, you will absolutely fall head over heels for the kids, and you'll adore Jake and Chelsea together. It's simply impossible not to. Now I'm anxiously awaiting Brent's book in Appealed. ARC courtesy of author in exchange for an honest review For more reviews visit

Sustained, the second book in her Legal Briefs series was Perfect because...it really. fucking. was. Jake Becker is a criminal defense attorney and likes things organized his way - neat and easy. He's Mr. No Strings, definitely a playboy and has no shame in admitting it. “A woman’s mind and personality don’t turn me on. It’s her other parts that hold my attention.” He gets a wake up call when a past one night stand tells him he may have a STD and he has to get tested. Jake in discussion with Stanton, Sofia and Brent considers dating so he’s getting regular sex from one partner rather than many. “I wonder if the pussy is better if you actually know the girl’s name.” Then one day, Jake's life gets real complicated and messy when he meets Chelsea McQuaid, recent guardian to her 6 nieces and nephews. Chelsea's smart, funny, beautiful and has a huge, caring heart. Even with all the chaos around them, Jake and Chelsea just click. I loved how Emma let Jake and Chelsea’s relationship gradually grow as she took us through their natural progression from friends to lovers. Chelsea and Jake were so real and had my tummy a flutter with all the great feels yet there was also a fragility to their relationship. Jake still had so much to work out and Chelsea's life had dramatically shifted to a place where she doesn't have time for games and uncertainty. And Jake with the kids was simply adorable. He’s honest, says it like it is but he’s also caring, protective and has their best interest at heart. Oh man, Jake... “I want her – this fearless, stunning woman. And I want the kids. Those perfect, awful, amazing children – whom she loves with every inch of her soul. I want them to be mine. Mine to hold, mine to protect and teach. Their joy, their laughter, their love. I want to come home to it, bask in it, be the reason for it.” I highly recommend this book and this series! Absolute tingles of joy, laughs and all over feel good read! Just writing this review makes me want to read it again. Emma, thanks for another fantastic read! Simply the best! I'm so hooked on these sexy, hot lawyers and really looking forward to Brent's! ***An advance reading copy was generously provided by Emma Chase in exchange for an honest review. 4.5 stars!! One of the most amazing and unique things about Emma Chase is her ability to write an authentic male POV, and this book is straight up told in Jake's POV. And no one writes a male POV in romance better than Emma Chase. Her heroes are straight shooters and funny and sometimes a bit inappropriate. But in a good fun way! Jake Becker is one of DC's up and coming defense attorney and a proud bachelor. He doesn't want complication in his professional life and personal life. Chelsea McQuaid i 4.5 stars!! One of the most amazing and unique things about Emma Chase is her ability to write an authentic male POV, and this book is straight up told in Jake's POV. Jake Becker is one of DC's up and coming defense attorney and a proud bachelor. He doesn't want complication in his professional life and personal life. Chelsea McQuaid is the very definition of complicated. After being named guardian to her 6 nieces and nephews, Chelsea uprooted her life and California to become a full time guardian to her brother's kids. The moment Jake saw Chelsea with her nephews and nieces, his first instinct was to run away. But instead, Jake found himself getting tangled up in Chelsea and the kids. It was so adorable how Jake dealt with Chelsea and the kids. No matter how he protests or say to himself that he's not a knight in shining armor and has nothing to give to them, he keeps doing the opposite. He was there for them and Chelsea. For those readers who don't like kids being featured heavily in their romance books, this book might not be for you because this book is overrun with kids. All six of them. And Emma Chase captured their personalities so beautifully. From the fights to the tantrums, to trips to the ER--it felt like I was reading my own life. Granted, I don't have six kids but Ms. Chase was able to capture the chaos of having six kids under one roof. I was torn between laughing and crying at their antics throughout the book. Kids' shenanigans aside, the romance between Chelsea and Jake was delightful in and of itself. It's different from her other pairings because Jake and Chelsea had to sort of take a lot of shortcuts because the circumstances that were out of their control. But it fit perfectly with the whole book. I loved their banter and their chemistry. I loved how even though Jake tells himself he doesn't want complication, he did allow himself to get involved with Chelsea. His stubbornness did get in the way of their growing relationship but when finally confronted with the thought of not having Chelsea and the kids in his life, he wised up really fast. I also enjoyed the snippets of Stanton and Sofia and Brent. I definitely want a (view spoiler)[wedding novella for Stanton and Sofia! The wedding was mentioned but I need details! (hide spoiler)] Please make it happen, Emma Chase. Anyway, Sustained is definitely a huge winner for me. I mean, I would have loved to read Chelsea's POV but I really can't complain because the author did such a phenomenal job with Jake's POV. Loved it! "How many kids live in this house exactly?" "Who's One Direction? C'mon, the world and its mother know who One Direction are ... It's a diaper. How hard could it be? "That was awesome," Raymond declares as Cyndi Lauper sings over the rolling credits. "Is there a part two?" Riley asks. "Nope," I yawn. "In the eighties they knew not to mess with perfection." Ain't that the truth, Jake! The sex was hot! And I blink at the ceiling, seeing stars. "Holy fuck." And somewhere Freddie Mercury sings "We are the Champions." Look forward to the next in the series. And I might just go and read book 1. “You’ve got this whole knight-in-shining-armor vibe going on.” I shake my head. “My armor was tarnished a long time ago, Brent.” “A knight in tarnished armor is still a knight.”

5 Stars! One of the best rom-coms ever! When Emma Chase writes a book, she really means business. I loved how she did it this time. This book is now my new favorite! Sustained is the second book of The Legal Briefs series. It can be read as standalone. This time it's Jake Becker's story. A successful lawyer, he doesn't do relationships and commitments as they just complicate his career. That was until he accidentally ran into a 10 year-old boy named Rory and met his gorgeous aunt named Chelsea 5 Stars! That was until he accidentally ran into a 10 year-old boy named Rory and met his gorgeous aunt named Chelsea McQuaid. Chelsea, by the way, is an artist and she was living a fabulous life. But when her brother and his wife met an accident which cost their lives, she left everything behind and wholeheartedly took care of the six children of his brother and acted as their guardian. Several problems happened in the household which led to her constant seeking of Jake's help. And as Jake spent most of his time helping Chelsea solve her problems, he became closer to the family and his feelings got deeper not just to the kids but also to Chelsea. The best thing about this book, of course, was Jake. He's literally perfect. I loved his character development. He first resisted attachment with anybody just to avoid commitment, but when he met those cute and adorable McQuaid kids-- everything just changed. He's so husband and father material. The book was also unique in my opinion. I rarely meet a romance book that basically covers an important family aspect, with funny and adorable kids being the center of it. What particularly impressed me was how Jake's profession became a huge part of the story. This tall, smart, and sexy attorney... He is so adept in his profession that he can really defend the poor little kids against the people who are trying to separate them from Chelsea. I can never get enough of him! I also loved Chelsea. She's the kind of heroine that will quickly make her way into my heart. I loved her simplicity and her passion to the kids. She's also adorable in so many ways and her chemistry with Jake is spot-on! Best of all, I loved the kids. Riley, Rory, Raymond, Rosaleen, Regan, and Ronan. They are all so lovable! My favorite is Regan. Let her say "hi" all the time and it will make you giggle. Lol. This has been a fun book. It offered tons of enjoyable scenes which were also blended with drama, sexiness, and all kinds of cuteness. It really deserves all the praises it gets from everyone who also enjoyed it. :)

It’s the first book I've read by Emma Chase and I absolutely adored every single moment! It's the second in a series but works superbly as a STANDALONE. The characters are lovely, the themes beautiful, it's witty, overflowing with personality and an abundance of love and romance that completely carried me away. It’s a story about choice, hope, sacrifice, love and having the courage of your convictions. I smiled and I sobbed, I swooned and I loved. There's so much heart in this story that my emotions were to the point of bursting in a totally wonderful and heart-warming way. Emma Chase is renowned for writing the male point of view and in Jake Becker I discovered that she executes her signature style with a dash of writing perfection. Jake is a highly successful defense attorney in Washington DC whom appreciates the hardships of life from both his personal and professional experiences. He’s proud that he’s reputed as, ‘being cold, callous and intimidating...’ a necessity in aiding his rise to the top and ensuring a lack of complications in his personal life where sex is the only offering he’s willing to make. I love the admissions of his character traits that may be considered negative but from him they’re totally endearing. His personality shines through his witty and completely honest inner thoughts and the way he reflects on his life-situations. I immediately warmed to his personality, admiring his realist approach to life, his sincerity and integrity coined with his sexy man-style ways. Chelsea McQuaid, our heroine, turns his world upside down. She's sensible, strong, courageous, self-less and shows an immeasurable amount of integrity in her character as she rises to the challenge of her unexpected and life changing responsibilities. The initial meeting of Jake and Chelsea is innovative and unique ensuring my attention was captured from the very beginning. Their banter and sizzling attraction had me smiling and swooning through so much of the story with their coupling totally glorious, passionate and worth the wait imposed on the reader. I keenly felt their frantic and intense love making and admired the way our female lead owns the situation. The way the story arc unfurls is highly engaging. The layers of depth tinged with their turbulent individual histories showcase their character traits, their vulnerabilities, their hopes, fears and sadness. There's a moment with a judge that felt delicate and beautiful with heartfelt emotions that made me burst with book love and brought unexpected tears to my eyes. Jake has a genuine heart and cares deeply about others leading me onto the stunning dynamic of the large supporting cast of characters who made my heart melt several times over. The way Emma Chase showcases the personalities of the children, their adventures and intermingling relationship with Jake and Chelsea is effortless with seamless transitions making the intelligent and witty writing glide gracefully through the mind. Sustained made me feel so much that certain peeks and pivotal moments of the story made me sob, juxtaposing perfectly against the witty thoughts and dialogue. Jake's inner struggles are heartbreaking and beautiful and essentially captured my book heart, my attention and raised me angst levels to perfection. It's a story I highly recommend to all who love romance stories laced with depth, oodles of witty personality and characters that have the overwhelming capacity to make us feel an array of emotions. CHANGED. so basically this story is about ⤷ Jake Becker (H), a defense attorney by day, a ho by night. after he gets mugged by a 9-year-old kid, he meets the kid's parents but meets Chelsea McQuaid (h) instead and finds out that she has to take care of her niece's and nephews (6 in total) all alone after their parents, died. honestly best thing about this book is the character development , i mean watching a former man ho get domesticated with cute adorable kids is >>>> but okay so first, obviously we had to start low right? well thank god this level was only in the beginning where we were introduced to Jake in the prologue waking up after a one night stand, then 4 weeks later he has a scare because one of his hookups had syphillis AND THEN after meeting Chelsea (h) twice already and thinking about her while doing the you know what with his hands, he plans to meet up with his former friends with benefits to obviously have sex with her and then made out with her for awhile until he gets interrupted with a call about one of the kids... ... then all of sudden his asshole self pulls a Houdini act because it. just. disappeared and after all this, his character development just went 📈 he went to a One Direction concert with Riley (14 yr old), saved Raymond from getting expelled by completely obliterating the parent of the kid that bullies him that acts like a "Karen", the baby peeing on him and he doesn't whine about it, watching The Goonies with the kids, threatening to beat up Rosaleen's piano teacher because he was an asshole, using Regan (2 yr old) to race against another toddler and won 50 bucks, Rory (9 yr old) hugging him (AAAWWWWW x1000), and helping Chelsea win custody of the kids. all these scenes made me feel some type of way because 75% of the time i was just- IT WAS SO FUCKING CUTE OKAY?? my baby fever while reading this book was at an all-time high. i couldn't handle the cuteness sometimes because apparently i wanted babies all of a sudden but i powered the fuck through like a true champ and i made it out alive. although i really liked this book, i just found the romance a little meh. i didn't really feel Chelsea and Jake's chemistry in the beginning because of the OW drama and how he was still down to hook up with OW just because he hadn't had sex in 2 weeks. this drama was unnecessary because it's never even discussed and Jake never thinks about the OW again later on, like it never happened. and honestly, i wasn't interested in their romance until he broke up with her at the end because he was all like i don't deserve you, you and the kids weren't part of the plan, im a bad man because im defending an abuser blah blah blah. i liked Jake's relationship with the kids and his character development more than the romance. i was waiting for a good grovel but Chelsea just kept on forgiving him so easily all the time so ugh. i guess i just want more grovelling scenes, for me, specifically. and if anyone knows me, y'all know im spoiled when it comes to grovelling scenes. thank you arini and lien for the recommendation 🖤

My cheeks still hurt from all the smiling, LAUGHING, and swooning I did while I read this story. I am convinced Emma Chase can not write a bad book! Jake is a defense attorney who likes very little drama in his life. He likes order. He likes routine. He has everything planned out regarding his career and has no room for love or relationships. Chelsea is a sweet, selfless, 26 year old grad student with a heart of gold who learns she is now the legal guardian to her six nieces and nephews. After Jak My cheeks still hurt from all the smiling, LAUGHING, and swooning I did while I read this story. After Jake has a rather funny first encounter with one of Chelsea's nephews, Jake and Chelsea meet and hit it off rather quickly. Without much thought or effort, Jake falls into their routine and becomes a part of this new family and finds himself completely sucked into all their chaos. Between piano lessons, One Direction concerts, Mommy & Me Classes, he becomes fiercely overprotective of this clan. The scenes with the kids either had me laughing so hard or tearing up from the sweetness overload. "We need to add a piano teacher to the list.' Rosaleen tells her aunt as we walk into the kitchen. “What do you mean? You have a piano teacher.” “Not anymore.” The seven-year-old shrugs. Chelsea turns suspicious eyes on me. And I have no guilt at all. “That guy shouldn’t be teaching children. Sadistic son of a bitch.” …...... “He hit my knuckles with the ruler ‘cause I messed up.” “Exhibit A,” I interrupt. “What kind of sick fuck could hit her?” I motion to Rosaleen’s joyously precious face. “Rory? He’s another story. Her? No way.” Rosaleen continues. “So Jake went out to his car and came back in with baseball bat. Monsier La Rue asked him what he was doing and Jake told him, “You hit that kid’s knuckles again, I’m gonna hit you with this.’ ” Chelsea turns to me, her head tilted and jaw slack. I admit nothing. “So…he fired us,” Rosaleen concludes. I nudge her with my elbow and offer her a carrot “We fired him.” She pops it in her mouth while a smile. Jake and Chelsea's relationship develops naturally (thankfully no insta-love) and their attraction to each other develops into a more meaningful relationship. “Is that what you want?” she asks quietly. “Do you want me?” I lose myself in those clear blue eyes. Endless and cerulean, like tropical seas. And my voice is barely a whisper. “All the time. I can’t remember not wanting you anymore.” But of course with any relationship comes some drama. Jake finds himself re-assessing what he's always wanted in life and trying to figure out if he can play the family-man role. I want her – this fearless, stunning woman. And I want the kids. Those perfect, awful, amazing children – whom she loves with every inch of her soul. I want them to be mine. Mine to hold, mine to protect and teach. Their joy, their laughter, their love. I want to come home to it, bask in it, be the reason for it. And dare I say, I think Drew Evans has some competition. I didn't think Emma could ever top that hunk, but Jake is so FREAKING swoon worthy you will instantly fall in love with him. As always, Emma nailed the male prospective, wrote hysterical laugh out loud scenes, and of course added in a few steamy, sexy moments. I absolutely loved how quick witted and adorable the kids were. I loved the dialogue and the sweet, heartwarming moments. I loved how natural Jake was with all the kids and how easily he found it was to care for them like they were his own. So as I read I was waiting for the heroine’s pov but it never came and it was not needed because this book was so well written I was able to get a full ride without both pov’s. Jake Becker; a thirty year old criminal defense attorney; sexy, with tattoos under his business suit seems to have his life all put together. A total bad boy when it comes to girls and relationships. As a lawyer; he had no time for love and family, all he cared about was his job and random one night stands. He had a routine and didn’t consider himself a family man and didn’t have time to handle all the drama that comes with it. However; things changes for Jake very quickly when a “one night stand” shows up in his office stating that she might have spread a sexual transmitted disease to him. He freaked out and it was kind of like an eye opener. Jake decided to perhaps give dating a try and not just one night stands. I meet his friends the “gang” that were extremely supported and funny; and now I want to know more about them. Chelsea McQuaid at only twenty-six years of age; had to change her life around in a blink of an eye. Overnight her life came crashing down after an awful accident that left her to care for her six nephews and nieces. It was definitely a challenge but she never thought twice about taking the responsibility. She knew very well that she wall all these kids had and she was going to be there for them. I really liked her courage and how human she was having to deal with the death of her brother and grief; and then having to be strong for all the little ones watching and depending on her. Jake and Chelsea ended up meeting each other through one of the children. They are all going through a hard time and trying to figure out how to deal with their grief. Jake ends up spending more time with the kids and Chelsea. Little by little his heart starts getting soft without him even knowing. He protected and defended the kids like they were his own and I absolutely loved it. “There’s no monsters, Regan.” In real life there are, but not in this house. Not while I’m breathing. “I’ve got you, kiddo. You’re safe. Shhh…go to sleep.” Jake He was instantly attracted to Chelsea of course his man side turned on immediately but it was much more than that and he promised himself to try to see if the dating would work out. However; he was so afraid to accept the feelings he was having. They both gave in and just let it be and made it work for the both of them. He was fantastic with Chelsea, he defiantly showed her a good time. He made me cry yes I was mad at him for not accepting that sometimes you just have to let it be. I was also sad for him for everything he was doing and feeling. I just fell head over heels for him, totally bad ass. Jake and Chelsea relationship worked for both no strings attached and both working with the kids. I loved their relationship; I loved all the kids it was just so hard not to. There were so many funny parts on this book I was dying laughing. There was some angst it had me devastated and of course some heartache. But overall there was just so much heart and soul on this story; I loved everything about it. How Jake was able to grow over his fear of responsibility and be a family and support for all the kids. The kids were absolutely well “kids” wild, chaos, funny and I loved them. This book was so much more than what I was expecting; it was my very first Emma Chase book and I can tell you it would not be my last. I would recommend this book to anyone looking for funny read packed with emotions, and most definitely a sexy hero that is worth keeping. “Something inside me crumbles; I want her-this fearless, stunning woman. And I want the kids. Those perfect, awful, amazing children…But even more than that, I want to deserve them. To be worthy.” Jake "ARC kindly provided to me by Author via netgalley, in exchange for an honest review." So I fully intended to try to have a review for this fantastic book today, but I've misplaced my motivation, to do much of anything at the moment. Okay who am I kidding, I am definitely a procrastinator...oops. But seriously, this was a terrific, well rounded story, with great characters, humor and steam. I highly recommend it. My lovely, Jennifer gifted me a copy! She is the best! Thanks, babe! Woohoo! Not many authors can write laugh out loud funny and sinfully sexy in the same book, let alone paragraph. Emma Chase's writing continues to blow me away in Sustained, it's intelligent, witty and perfectly romantic. Jake Becker is a successful, sexy attorney and a loner. She is no longer the twenty-six year old graduate student, now she is the legal guardian to six children, her nieces and nephews. When her brother dies she doesn't hesitate to fly across the country to be with her family. She is committed to these kids and their happiness. Jake and Chelsea together was perfection. They balanced each other out and gave each other peace and stability. Physically, holy schnikies batman, this book is hot! Jake Becker is perfection. I loved seeing these two finally open up to each other. I liked seeing Jake open up and learn to trust. Now these children, they are complete handful, but they also show that the juice is worth the squeeze. This isn't the life Chelsea or Jake planned for themselves, but these kids add so much value and depth to them. They make them better people. I was so impressed with each of their characters and the development behind their personalities. So many times I had to stop myself from saying "this was my favorite part" because there are so many scenes/moments in this book I adored. I am not sure I can pick a favorite just to say this entire book is perfection. If you want a swoon worthy, sexy, sweet, funny - all of the above, read this book. Sustained is Emma Chase's best work yet, her characters are perfectly developed and felt real to me. I can't recommend this book enough! ARC kindly provided in exchange for an honest review.

This was not what I expected at all after reading the first book in the series. If I could rate this a 6+ I would! I lOVED Jake, Chelsea and the kids!!! The growth in this story was phenomenal. I mean it was seriously well done with some very sweet moments along the way. Jake went from indiscriminate sex to family man and the transformation is art. lol Chelsea and her little family have gone through so much in such a short period of time and it seems Jake is just what they need to find themselve This was not what I expected at all after reading the first book in the series. Chelsea deserves big kudos for stepping up big time for her nieces and nephews and for doing her best by them no matter what. She is a great character with a huge heart who is genuine in all she does. The plot grasped and kept my attention steadily. There was always something interesting, meaningful, or fun going on. Let me tell you, I laughed out loud with this book, which is exactly what I wanted (Thanks for the recommendation, Sonya!!!) The lovemaking is HOT AS HELL to boot! Jake has his moment of internal conflict, and even then he's still a great guy with both the kids and Chelsea so let me tell you... Jake is NOT book boyfriend material. He is SO book HUSBAND material. My very FIRST one of those, ladies and gents. I am now a temporarily fictionally taken woman. :-p I seriously loved this book. It will go into my faves. Safety: They both try to date during their separation but neither does anything physical with the other person. No sharing. No rape/abuse.

It guarantees to entertain readers with its trademark Emma Chase laugh out loud-tongue-in-cheek humour, a straight talking hero, a wonderful supporting cast of characters, an angst filled plot, and last but not least; sexual tension that promises to singe your page-turning-fingers. The evidence: Exhibit A. Jake Becker, successful defence attorney with penchant for discipline. He works hards and plays harder. His regimented, no nonsense approach is reflective in both his work and social life. He knows what he wants, gets it and doesn't suffer fools gladly in the process. "Do it right, or don't bother." Exhibit B. Twenty-six year old, Chelsea McQuaid and her brood of adorable nieces and nephews. Legal guardian to her late brother's six orphaned children, Chelsea turns to Jake for his legal aid. As the hilarity ensues, Jake's legal obligations soon become more personal and the help he offers more that of friend than legal counsel. As much as he may not like or want distractions in his life, the McQuaid's soon take up a big part of it. “Is there something wrong with her?” I ask. “No,” Chelsea answers, sounding slightly affronted. “There’s nothing wrong with Regan. She’s two.” Exhibit C. The angst. The delicious, rub-your-hands-together-glee-angst. As much as Chelsea brings out his (I dare say) nurturing side, it's almost instinct for him to want to help her. He also plain old wants her and the familiarity in their friendship leads to much more. Like most Emma Chase heroes, Jake is not immune from his epic episode of douchebaggery. But ever the overachiever, he succeeds in redeeming himself in an admirable fashion. In summary, Emma Chase's Sustained is nothing short of a stellar read and delivered on all accounts. The Legal Briefs series has certainly made a fan in me and the wait for the next instalment, Appealed commences. I rest my case. FOLLOW SMOKIN HOT BOOK BLOG ON:

Until the day Chelsea appears unexpectedly in his life. Taking care of her six (SIX!) nephews after her brother and sister-in-law tragic death, her life is completely turned upside down. Jake is taken by her and he’s decided to help them with legal issues but soon he finds himself wanting more. He always lived with no strings attached and he doesn’t want to change, especially when said change comes in the form of 6 little demons he grew to love. But life has a way of showing us that sometimes what we need is not what he thought we wanted. I always said that Emma Chase does an amazing job writing male POV’s and this book was (once again) the evidence. Funny, sweet and emotional this book was yet another great reading from this author. There was some moments that I felt really frustrated with the course of the story, but it was so well written and wrapped up so perfectly that it’s impossible not to fall in love with this book. If you want a sweet and funny romance, this is the book for you. Rating: 4,5 Stars. Characters Development: Chelsea was an amazing heroine and I loved how she was with the kids, that were awesome on their own. Jake was really good as well, flawed, hilarious and adorably frustrating at the times, he is definitely one my favorites Emma Chase heroes. Steam: Hot. 3.75 stars This was such a fun time! I wanted something light and fun and this is exactly what this book delivered. My whole love and rating goes to the kids in this book and to the kids relationship with Jake. They were just so freakin cute and adorable! This was my first time reading a whole book from the male’s POV and at the beginning I dreaded being inside his head as he was such a douche with an annoying male mindset. Then things started to be more fun and sweet and I started to like him more. However, I kinda didn’t care about the romance so much. It was just okay? I just didn’t care about their relationship as much as his time with the kids. Overall, The book was really cute! It was so cute and filled with sweet adorable moments that made me so freakin happy.

Sustained is LIVE!!! Amazon  |  B&N  |  Kobo Type: Standalone book 2 of The Legal Briefs series POV: First Person - Male Rating: Jake Becker was a straight shooting lawyer. He always told it as it is, no matter if it’s his client or his lovers. He was a perpetual bachelor because relationships come with complications he didn’t need. Chelsea McQuaid was as complicated as it could be. As a legal guardian to her six (yes six! *shudders*) nephews and nieces she didn’t have time for social life. But l Sustained is LIVE!!! Chelsea McQuaid was as complicated as it could be. As a legal guardian to her six (yes six! *shudders*) nephews and nieces she didn’t have time for social life. But little angles (more like devils actually) tend to make her life even more complicated than she could handle. Before reading Sustained, I expect to have some laughs. I certainly got that, but unexpectedly I also shed some tears. Yes, I actually cried reading a light, funny book. (God please just kill me now… lol!) ‘Cause when it comes to fucking… like I said… the badder the better. I definitely love Jake. A suit wearing criminal defense lawyer with hard tattooed body underneath? Yes please! I am totally on Jake’s side even when he did things that I shouldn’t support. He could do no wrong in my eyes haha! I like Chelsea too. I respect how she uprooted herself to care for her brother’s children even if she’s way over her head. She was loving and patience with them, and took a lot of crap from them. “Riley, boys your age… are really not worth your time. They’re selfish and stupid. It’s not their fault; they’re just programmed that way- but they’re still a lost cause. I think you should stay away from them until you’re at least… twenty five. Or… have you considered being a lesbian?” I love how the children played a significant role in the directions of their relationship. They were certainly scene stealers. My favorite is Regan with her adorable “challenge”. If you missed the gang, don’t worry because Stanton, Sofia and Brent made numerous appearances in this book. They were part of each other’s lives. I’m never a fan of an epilogue but I actually love this one. I think it wrapped things up nicely without making it sickly sweet. I’m allergic to sweetness lol! Sustained was entertaining, funny and at the same time heartwarming (yes I got tingles in my chest instead of just uh… elsewhere :p ). Definitely recommended to those looking for a sexy funny hero with a soft side. How come I haven't read this one before is beyond me, because it was freaking awesome! Chelsea was great, strong, wise, level- headed but warm and affectionate at the same time. Kids, all six of them, were adorable!!! And Jake, don't get me started on him, what a guy, I loved him. Emma Chase kicked ass again with male's POV, sex was hot, there was a lot of fun and good kind of crazy with McQuaid's bunch. Overall, fantastic story, which I highly recommend. I was really disappointed with her books after Tangled but I’m so glad this one is a winner. Now I know there are so many friends saying that Jake is their new favourite from Emma Chase and even better than Drew – Well for me Drew Evans is still my NUMBER ONE by Emma Chase. Jake is cocky, smart, badass, witty and sexy as hell but I’m still in love with Drew… Style of writing : Praise the Lord, Emma Chase and her sexy swaggering pen is back – Yes, Emma Chase totally nailed it with this one. We all know that Emma Chase is kickass with male pov and I would definitely like to tell her that keep giving us male pov – because Emma Chase is the Queen of male povs. Characters : Jake is Ahh…So Yummy! He is everything that you’ll expect from an Emma Chase hero – Sexy, Witty, Smartass and Horny did I mention Horny! Chelsea on the other hand is different from what Emma Chase normally gives us – Chelsea is sweet and understanding – not quite badass which I loved. Favorite Part : OMG the kids – they were the ones who made me enjoy this one even better. Emma Chase is so good with child character; she should continue giving us more of these in her books. What did not work? Hmm…I will say predictability. There was nothing in terms of “Twist” in the story as far as I’m concerned… Similar books? Hmm...None that I have read so far! Recommended : Yes, this one was really well written and it definitely guarantees a good time. Click On The Color Splashes To Join Me ;)

Each book focuses on a lawyer and as much as I love Drew and Stanton, they need to move over, because JAKE is THE HERO. I love the way the book begins. We are exposed to Jake. Jake is good at his job. As a defense attorney, he’s harsh, a brute and very arrogant. I mean, he can defend me anytime, day or place. Yes. Please. He doesn’t do relationships and he’s perfectly fine with that. Not only I find Jake super sexy, but he’s so funny. Seriously, Emma is a writing genius. She made me crack up so many times. I never laughed so hard and my cheeks were sore from smiling. Chelsea is a young twenty-something and she becomes a parent to six kids overnight. Her nieces and nephews have no one except Chelsea and she gladly takes the burden. You know why I love it right? Throw me a single mother book and I’m just ALL OVER IT! I love Chelsea. I love how sweet, endearing and independent she is. I love the relationship she has with the kids and I love the kids! The kids were great, ages from fourteen to six months. There was never a dull moment. So you have an awesome Heroine, adorable kids and you throw in Jake, it’s going to be nothing, but fun times. I love the dynamics between Chelsea, Jake and the Kids. I felt like I was watching one of those sitcom shows and I just couldn’t get enough of it. Some of the kids run into trouble and Jake is there to save the day. Chelsea likes having Jake around. I completely understand Chelsea. Her world is now the kids and when she gets some attention from another adult, she is appreciative of it. As much as Jake loves the kids, he’s not sure if he’s a family kind of man. Jake has a bunch of Daddy issues and it makes me love him even more. Sustained is a beautiful story. I SUPER ENJOYED it. I laughed, and yes, even cried. The chemistry and banter between Chelsea and Jake just worked for me. The kids were an extra element and it made the story. If you love Tangled, or Emma Chase or both, you need to read Sustained. It’s a barrel of laughs and enjoyment. An ARC was provided Overruled REVIEW | AMAZON Sustained AMAZON

4.5 ⭐️ I loved this! It was told from the perspective of the male lead, so that was different. We have Jake, a very focused and somewhat insensitive lawyer who likes the order and predictability of his life. The book opens by introducing us to his routine in terms of work and personal life. (workaholic, commitment phobe, who loves to win his cases and sleep with anonymous pretty faces). We are privy to his thoughts throughout and well, he was a simple man, but a funny one. I loved being in his head because I was always gearing up for a laugh. The writing was smart and so funny at times. There are some scenes where I was laughing out loud, it was that good. The part where Jake meets ALL the kids.. OMG, it was hilarious! Also, all the children were such sweethearts with their own quirks. Jake’s interactions with them will honestly melt your heart! The love story between Jake and Chelsea was also nice and sweet (and steamy)but honestly I could have done without as long as I kept getting scenes of Jake and the kids.. Chelsea was portrayed only through Jake’s eyes and it was a weird experience for me to not have her point of view but I got over it. What was truly interesting was to see how much different it was to have an only male perspective to a love story. One thing was for sure, there was a whole lot less self doubt and insecurity. I mean yeah, he had his fears but he didn’t sit around worrying about sentimentalities all the time.. although, in all fairness, Chelsea was also a very self-assured, assertive woman. If there was any book I’d like to be made into a movie, this is definitely it. I need to read more Emma Chase.
