Tidal Falls by Jacquie Biggar is the first book in her Wounded Hearts series, a romantic suspense collection of books with passion, sex, emotions, mystery, and drama. Typically, this isn't a genre I often read, but Biggar's books cross that line and appeal to the masses. It's not all about falling in love and having romantic dates or sexual tension. Typically, this isn't a genre I often read, but Biggar's books cross that line and appeal to the masses. It's not all about falling in love and having romantic dates or sexual tension. There are complex plots, historical mysteries, and a bunch of carefully orchestrated scenes to show why life is never easy... but it can bring a ton of happiness when properly balanced. Sara leaves her abusive husband. He wasn't always bad, but he's far worse now that she'd ever realized. Nick was in the military, and he had a rough go when his unit was ambushed. After many surgeries and years to recover, he's emotionally still upset, especially after what happened when he returned home. When they meet while Sara is on the run, she decides to trust him. But is it a mistake? Connections to her husband suddenly appear, and Nick might not be who she thinks he is... will love win out? Or will the nastiness of vengeance and anger spew like a volcano? Biggar's writing is so accessible, and by that, I don't mean light or simple. She strings words together effortlessly and breathes beauty and life into her characters. I enjoy her style and approach to telling the stories of people who are real and deserve happiness. While I might not have military experience or children, I could feel the pain and hope Sara and Nick have in this book. Fury erupted over how Tom treated Sara. Great smiles came when Nick's dog and Sara's daughter bonded. There's such a sense of belonging in this book, and I found myself eager to read more and hopeful to find a happy ending. I don't see myself becoming a major fan of the genre as a whole, but with writers like Biggar, it helps bring more and more intrigue... and that's probably my key point here. Sometimes it's the quality of the writer and not necessarily the genre that can make a book a success. Kudos to the author for showing easily why we should always have an open mind. I see myself reading more in this series, curious if a few characters cross over from time to time, or it's a new set in each book. Either way, definitely one to recommend to others when it's got some steam, tenderness, and shock value. Bravo!

(This is a reread for me. I reviewed the Wounded Hearts #5 novella, Summer Lovin’ earlier for The Romance Reviews.com and was lucky enough to get picked to review the #2 full length novel, The Rebel’s Redemption in this series, so I wanted to refresh. The main novels can be read as standalones, but they are worth reading the whole series in order.) TIDAL FALLS is the start to the Wounded Hearts romantic suspense series. This book sets you up with all the characters in the small town of Tidal Falls, and you meet the returning SEAL friends that become involved in this and future plots. Sara Sheridan has fled to hide in Tidal Falls with her daughter to escape a powerful and abusive husband. The copies of computer files she took to trade for her freedom are too important and her ex will do anything to get her back. Getting involved with the hot male across the way will mean revealing her secret and learning to trust again. Nick Kelley and his war dog are in Tidal Falls to escape memories of a lost best friend and a failed op as he continues to heal. There is something about his neighbor and her daughter across the way that call to him and he just can’t ignore them. His protective side comes out and he calls on his old friends from his team to help when he realizes the scope of the danger Sara is in. This book is a fast, easy read that has all the aspects I’m looking for in a romantic suspense. The characters are all well written. The plot moves at a steady pace to the climax. The sex scenes are well written, not explicit and well placed in the story. I am looking forward to more stories in this series.

Tidal Falls by Jacquie Biggar is the first book in the Wounded Hearts series. It has everything I love in a great romantic suspense: sexy alpha male, strong independent heroine, slow-burning romance, intense action, a really bad guy after both H/H and a happy ending. I highly recommend this book (and the whole series)! My Rating: 5+ stars

However, it was just not executed as well as it could have been. First off, the book required further editing, it still had several spelling and grammatical errors throughout. The book also had some errors within the actual storyline - it was confusing determining the sequence of events regarding how long Sara's marriage had lasted and how long she had been in Tidal Falls (several different time periods were mentioned here). Secondly, this book just contained cliche on top of cliche on top of cliche. And if the book had been further fleshed out i could have dealt with this but this book just dumped new cliches every couple of pages. Parts of the storyline were just completely unrealistic. Sara and Nick fall in love like within a couple of days, they have barely known each other more than a few months yet the neighbour has time to have a photo of them all together in her house, his Navy Seal friend grew up in the same town and his mother is one of Sara's friends and, I can only assume, the father of Annie's son Chris and... that's just for starters... I also struggled with some of the dialogue, especially when it came to Sara's daughter Jess, some of her dialogue just did not seem realistic for an 8 year old, i have a 7 year old niece who doesn't talk anywhere close to how Jess does. Tom as a villain i had some real issues with. He just did not make sense to me, he was supposed to have these redeeming qualities and these totally awful characteristics but he was just not believable at all.. all the scenes with him i just really struggled with. Also, the ending felt really rushed, the whole book is leading us to this big showdown between Sara, Nick and Tom and then the whole thing only lasts about 20-30 pages. Overall i thought the book had good bare bones but needs a lot of work.

Can Nick and his friends save her? This is a really good, cute book. I liked how while Nick's PTSD and injuries don't themselves faze Sara, while his career as a Navy SEAL and therefore alpha personality give her pause. My only complaint is that I wish his PTSD and injuries had played a bigger part in the book. I feel like they were brushed over, and barely played a part. Overall though, a good book and one I will likely read again.

Confusing and lack of flow between chapters. One minute your reading about Nick and Sara in Tidal Falls the next about Nick 's military buddies in Vegas with absolutely no lead in. I enjoyed the story with its suspense and romance. There were even a few unexpected turns. Tidal Falls is the first of several books involving veteran SEALS from the same squad, now civilians. I had difficulty putting down the book. The main characters (the good folks) are strong, caring, and honorable. Best of all, the ladies found in these pages are stronger than they appear and the small town they live in welcomes one and all. I am looking forward to the next book in the sequel, to find out more of the story.

"Tidal Falls (Wounded Hearts 1)" by Jaquie Biggar I read this novel when it was first released (Sept 2014) and just finished re-reading it. I remember truly enjoying it the first time. That didn't change; I truly enjoyed it this time; maybe more so. I always loved the two main characters, Sara and Nick. And of course, the other two, Sara's daughter Jessica and Nick's dog, Jake. The camaraderie of the Nick and his SEAL team buddies also adds a great addition to the novel. There is a bit of mystery, intrigue, history (the past of the characters), friendship, love, hope for finality for Sara, and an expectation that they all will be able to move forward. Those last two are left a bit up in the air... I absolutely love the characters and truly enjoyed the main storyline, as well as the back story of the characters. The author has written a very well told novel, one that is enjoyable, fun, heartwarming, yet serious and one that addresses multiple difficult issues, both personal to the characters and overall to the public. (An aside that has no reflection on the novel: The male characters had been part of SEAL team 5 together. Yet one had his history of being a Marine touted a few times and another one was with the DEA while also being on the team and it was unclear how these two roles coincided. These do not affect the novel in any way, but for those with military knowledge, they may stick out.) ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ http://amzn.to/24rPkIQ
