Oh wow! The proverbial s**t hits the fan in this sequel! We start off with our MCs on vacation, relaxing and enjoying themselves and cementing their feelings for one another. This time, John’s world and Vince’s collide more succinctly as a vampire is causing trouble in the human world and John has to try to catch a murderer at the same time Vince tries to keep things under control. I was frustrated a bit by John’s reluctance to fully share his feelings, but the pace of the story moves us along quickly enough so that we are compelled by the drama of the criminal investigation so deeply as to not perseverate on that hang up for long. For me, things get the most interesting once John finds out about Vince and his family and spends time in Vince’s world. That’s when the relationship really deepens and all the “magic” begins. While Chip Wood does an amazing job with the accents and the Italian words, he sometimes comes across a bit woodenly in the non-dialog sections. However, he is still really good and this is definitely the best way to enjoy this amazing sequel. Highly recommended to fans of the first book, I think this was even better than book one! Overall 4.5 of 5 stars

Oh yeah! This was better than the first because we get such great progression of Vince and John's relationship and whew, it's h-a-w-t! The world building continues strong here, as do the secondary characters, especially Angelo. The only bad thing about this book is book 3 isn't out yet! Oh yeah! I enjoyed this book. I liked the development of the two main characters, and the audio version has good narration. I wish some of the reveals had had some setup to feel more satisfying, but overall it was a fun, hot, entertaining read and I look forward to the next one in the series.

For Vampire & Cupcake Lovers eARC Series Review: Orbus Arcana #1 & #2 ~ For the Bite of It & A Bite In Time by Viki Lyn & Vina Grey When I was asked to review this series I immediately thought: what a delicious blurb! In For Vampire & Cupcake Lovers eARC Series Review: Orbus Arcana #1 & #2 ~ For the Bite of It & A Bite In Time by Viki Lyn & Vina Grey When I was asked to review this series I immediately thought: what a delicious blurb! And just like the promise of said blurb, it was a delicious read indeed. I not only loved the cupcakes and the ideas of them, but the vampire world that unfolded? Now that was a delicious idea too. This is the Orbus Arcana series, story about vampires and the drama of their world. In this world, however, we have Vincent Kamateros, Lord Heir to his father's kingdom, accused and found guilty of killing another vampire, stripped of his powers and exiled from his world hidden from human eyes. It was a human world he now lived in, as a cupcake baker of all things. Then again, it was his only way to forget what he had lost - until a car crashes into his shop and Officer John Reeder walks in. John is the typical closeted cop and he does not disappoint in his closetedness if there is such a word. Try as he might, he could not resist cupcake nor baker and it does not help that said baker was unusually charming and handsome. There was just something about the man's eyes that glittered his imagination crazy. That he was a tentative suspect to the accident turned murder, it was hard to ignore the man. As for Vincent, it was difficult to resist the cop of his dreams for this was a relationship that was frowned upon by his world. Then again, his world had him exiled so he could have one, right? Wrong. Apparently, his world is calling him once more to try to put a stop to a supposed rebellion by the other exiled vampires. Should he accept their terms, he could get back his powers and his position as prince but that would mean he has to forget his thoughts of loving a human. This was such a fantastic read for although the blurb prepares the reader to a formulaic vampire-loving-human-mate plot, it is definitely not that. Yes, there is that plot but it is not the focus of this read. Instead, we have a relationship that would best be described as a star-crossed love affair but because of the murders that keep happening with Vincent in the middle of everything so to speak, this read turns more like an action-suspense-thriller-mystery. Of course there is the romance and it just keeps getting hotter, but it is not in-your-face. The story of the men, their personal and separate lives, their angst and their adventures into the paranormal is a developing plot that does not cease nor stagnate in any way. Each book just adds more to the intrigue of this romance and it just keeps getting better. Note that this is a series best read in order for the second book opens right after the first one closes and the promise of a third book will open to where the second closes. I cannot wait for that third book especially after having been teased of it. Recommended for vampire and paranormal lovers who also love cupcakes.

The relationship between a human and vampire is a rocky one and in this latest installment in the Orbus Arcana series things between Vince and John isn't all roses as lies surround them. John still isn't ready to come out and Vince is tired of being his dirty little secret. Vince's hiding his being a vampire is also a barrier to their HEA as recent murders have John especially doubtful and repulsed by vampire myths. With personal issues weighing on them and a killer from Vince's past targeting him it's a pulse pounding thrill ride from start to finish amidst some hot and heavy sexual encounters. The relationship between Vince and John crackles with sexual tension. There's a constant push and pull for dominance that's intoxicating and makes their relationship even more intense. When they're alone everything is perfect and dream-like. When the outside world invades things become tense and lives are put in danger. The case John is working on hits close to him and puts Vince's life in danger as political machinations leave him a target and point to a rebellion just bubbling beneath the surface with ramifications that have me intrigued for the future. These political issues leave doubt as to who's really friend and foe but when he needs him most Vince and John's relationship enters a new stage and forges a deeper commitment that makes them a formidable team. With their relationship put through the emotional wringer due to their lies and secrets this is a heartbreaking story at times. Luckily there's the humorous, charming, sexy, and loyal Angelo. He's constantly by Vince's side supporting him and aiding him in discovering the truth behind the murders and the far-reaching consequences. We get more insight into his abilities and his closeness to Vince as a blood brother and as a protector to his royal line. He brings a breath of fresh air to every scene he's in and I look forward to him taking center stage as he too deserves a HEA. With such a strong secondary character and a compelling main couple this was an engaging read and great addition to the Orbus Arcana series. There's a perfect balance between romance and mystery and an intriguing set-up to the political issues surrounding Vince's becoming King one day. The rebellion looks to be dangerous and you can feel the tension building and an all-out war looming. For now, I'll treasure the new bond forming between Vince and John but I'm left worried for their future and the possible bloodshed war will bring. Fans of the paranormal will find this an exhilarating read and I'm counting down the days until the next installment.

As we learned in For the Bite of It, Vincent had previously been exiled there for crimes committed in his homeland. Ultimately the continuing story of the slowly, and I mean very slowly, developing romance between John and Vince. We find the lovers at odds as their emotional connection deepens but John continues to resist taking their relationship public and revealing his sexual orientation. When John begins investigating a series of killings that have ties to the hidden vampire community, Vince suddenly finds himself desperate to protect his lover, while at the same time maintaining his heritage. Trust is on the line as each senses the other is unwilling to fully bare their heart. While at the same time, the serial killer on the loose endangers more than their own personal secrets and physical safety. Another exceptionally well written and fast paced paranormal thriller from this talented writing duo, A Bite In Time continued to challenge everything I thought I knew about vampires. With deepening emotional content, sizzling sexual chemistry and exciting plot development, this is one sequel you won't want to miss! *This is not a stand alone story, Orbus Arcana is a series that must be read in order.* My OFFICIAL REVIEW written for Carly's Book Reviews

Book 2 picks up a few months after book 1 and Vince and John are trying to settle into their relationship. John still hasn't come out of the closet and Vince still hasn't told him he's a vampire prince. Once again Vince finds a dead body and ends up right in the middle of John's investigation. But this time it should be Vince's investigation because someone is killing exiles. This book takes us deeper into Vincent's exile and his vampire world. There is more steamy sex and romance in this book. Book 2 picks up a few months after book 1 and Vince and John are trying to settle into their relationship. I couldn't put it down I read it in one sitting. The ending of this book wasn't a HEA and it was sort of a cliffhanger and now I can't wait for book 3. This is definitely a book for 18+ and if you're looking for a M/M romance with vampires that don't sparkle then this is the series for you. 5 anxious stars.

Listened to the audio version. The narration was decent. I quite liked the narrators different voices for the different characters but during narrative parts his voice could be almost monotone in it's deepness. Still I would listen to him again. 4.5* This was really great! I really wish the next book was out already! I usually can't stand romances with a plot built around secrets but this one really worked for me. There were secrets all around -- John keeping his sexuality and his lover a secret and Vincent keeping the fact that he's a vampire a secret from John. It made for a tense read, but it also lead to some really great conflict and development of the relationship between these two guys. 3 1/2 stars I am enjoying the series. Secrets built up, and revealed this time around. The bond confused me a little. Drinking his blood forms a bond, human or vampire...but he drinks from Angelo in the past. Maybe I missed something. I like the relationship building, and learning more about the world. Hopefully John will come out to his family soon.

A really liked that Vince didn't revealed himself until it was absolutely necessary. I almost wanted for him to keep quiet completely. I do think the author passed too much time concentrating in John's broken heart. This book was definitely better than the first. Can wait for the next.
