How to reduce your food cravings, so you can lose weight by eating less Today's most successful weight-loss programs rely on "behind the scenes" tools to help you resist food temptations, resist snacking, and lose serious weight. Here are the main tools! Here's how this book helps you lose weight and overcome overeating: 1) It gathers for the first time, in one place, 20 of How to reduce your food cravings, so you can lose weight by eating less Today's most successful weight-loss programs rely on "behind the scenes" tools to help you resist food temptations, resist snacking, and lose serious weight. Here are the main tools! Here's how this book helps you lose weight and overcome overeating: 1) It gathers for the first time, in one place, 20 of the most effective tools ever discovered for losing weight 2) It simplifies them into easy-to-follow tips you can actually use, to lose 25 pounds or more (depending on your weight) 3) It WEAKENS the food cravings... and MAKES IT POSSIBLE for you to resist them 4) It helps with the emotional danger points that threaten your weight loss, like when the opposite sex starts noticing you 5) It guides you through your weight-losing days from waking-up to falling asleep 6) It arms you with dozens of tried-and-true tips and hints and psychological tools that make dieting less painful than with traditional diets This isn't another "eat this, not that" guide. You won't read about "no carbs", "low calorie" or "low fat" here. No, instead, The Mental Diet helps you by doing this one crucial thing: It shows you how to cut down the AMOUNT you eat... the AMOUNT!... by using powerful tools that make the food cravings weaker. And your ability to resist them stronger. Does it seem impossible to resist, when the urges and temptations hit you? The urges to snack and overeat? Hundreds of successful dieters lost major amounts of weight using these proven tools. These tools are the little-known, "behind the scenes" power that makes successful weight-loss programs work (such as some of the most effective parts of Overeaters Anonymous, Weight Watchers, and other programs). The author lost over 30 pounds using these powerful psychological tools, even after believing it was impossible to do so. The author shows you how to do it too, in a compassionate but extremely-effective way. This can be the end of dieting as you know it. Stop the frustrating cycle of losing weight then putting it right back on. It hurts too much! It makes you feel hopeless! The Mental Diet can help you lose weight for real!

Optimistic Gave me ideas I had never thought of before. Hoping to start in my new role soon. Glad I took a chance and read this with an open mind.

Great sense of humor. This book is in my top three dieting or dieting related (spiritual) books. I have been hitting glass floors or plateaus as my weight goes down. Two other books were helpful in getting me unstuck but this one's information looks very promising. I wish I had read it second. McLaurie makes it very simple and discusses common pitfalls and tips or strategy and tactics to avoid them and get out of the rut. Sort of like Roberta Flack felt in the song "Killing Me Softly." McLaurie makes it very simple and discusses common pitfalls and tips or strategy and tactics to avoid them and get out of the rut. Sort of like Roberta Flack felt in the song "Killing Me Softly." I've been wanting to write this book but McLaurie already has so I don't have to. I don't see how anyone could rate this with less than 4-stars. Especially for $3. My gosh! He/she writes much like a guy possibly with a military background? but I think the primary audience may be females. But I found it very helpful. I'm able to plug in my own spiritual orientation. McLaurie also sounds like an Overeaters Anonymous (OA) attendee and psychology expert but he puts it all in layman terms. OA folks don't like the D word, i.e. diet but I think McLaurie uses the word for the wider audience which doesn't overreact to its use. I think he compiled a lot of info from other dieting resources and included some of his own experiences. OA has gaps and doesn't adequately define food plans which is what they call diets. McLaurie makes it real clear: three meals a day with a definite start and finish and that's the key. I made some minor adjustments for myself with great success. OA doesn't totally cover resentments and their impact on dieting but McLaurie helps a lot in this area. More could be added perhaps. I only say that because it's a real challenge for me. SM also speaks against the tendency of OA to avoid sugar and flour. He mentions trigger foods once but I don't think he defined the term. He does talk about giving up a food which may have been related in his designed for layman approach. A couple of psych terms that McLaurie explains are cognitive dissonance and operant conditioning. I personally needed a Christian spiritual perspective and more detail on foods that reduce cravings or create satiety but maybe I wouldn't have if I had started with McLaurie. Anyway I found that info elsewhere. This book should be "required reading" for OA even more so than the AA book. It puts teeth in the plan especially for people that are hovering on a plateau while talking the talk but not walking the walk and getting into real recovery. Success breeds success. Happy dieting and thank you S. McLaurie.
