But that all changed when her ex Ryan a DJ decided that there was nothing left of there relationship and wanted out , he wanted the free and single life that came with his DJing and music which he,d always put before Jessica and there children , so she was off to college to do a administration course , at 31 years old Jessica had to retraining and have a degree under her belt so she wouldn't have to rely on their Ex for money , That where she meet Clarissa and forged a really loving friendship with her a caring bond that would help Clarissa and herself to become stronger people , Clarissa was a very talented machinist and made lovely one off items , but she also lived with Peter her only love (teenage sweethearts) in a very abusive relationship and suffered domestic violence in her daily life , that was until Jessica thrown her life line and took her under her wing , Jessica's first day at college she pulls up along side a civic type R and see,s for the first time Trent Archer a tutor really good looking beautiful blue eyes dark hair a gorgeous tan and a smile to stop traffic ,a sexy smirk and a cute dimple , Jessica's first meeting with Trent is when she's in line wait to enter her class room , while she's telling Carissa about this hot guy she seen that morning in the parking lot and how sexy and gorgeous he is , but gets the shock of her life when she turns to hear the door being unlocked by the man she's been talking about. Trent Archer , Trent's not used to having mature students in his class there more teenagers , as the days and weeks go by trent forges a relationship with Jessica from meeting in the parking lot in the morning and walking to class Jessica as a crush on Trent but knows that it's all one sided until one day she sees him checking her backside out on the way up the stairs and is shock when he tells her that he thinks she gorgeous and wished she wasn't A student at the college , has they learn to keep their relationship platonic and save Trent from getting into trouble with the faculty things get more and more serious between them , but all they are wishing for is that the college turn will hurry up and end so they can start there relationship , But with Day to day Life, children, ex,s ( I don't want you ex but know one else can have you )bitchy teenagers , tutors and the faculty getting mixed up with them plus new friendships how will they survive and cope and share this new relationship with each other ? I've awarded this 4 and half stars has I loved it and for a first. Time writer and self publisher I think the few spelling mistakes and a little grammar , doesn't throw you off the storyline , or impairs it , in any way I would highly recommend it and I have recommended it to other people.

This book was like a drug, once I started I couldn't stop. Even though I have a hectic home life I made time to read a couple of chapters every night because the story flowed so well I just had to find out what happened next. Jessica Stark is brilliantly characterised. Usually female leads are either weak and predictable, or so headstrong you can't warm to them. Jess had the perfect mix of being caring and strong; she was there for her friend at all times and held together her family singlehandedly. She was a bit of a superwoman really; if I became a single mother I hope I could cope as well as her. This story might not be a literary masterpiece but you know what? It felt real. There was no billionaire CEO fronting it, just a normal (albeit gorgeous) college teacher who isn't completely perfect, and a student trying to better herself after a tumultuous break up. You could imagine it happening to yourself or a friend, the characters were so down to earth. Trent was a great character, even though I'd like to find out more about his past (hopefully in his POV). He was totally selfless and most of all just a good person. The contrast between him and Ryan was stark (pardon the pun!). I loved the fact that it was Jess who made a mistake and had to win Trent back, usually it's the other way round, so that was refreshing. I could totally understand why she did that as well, not giving anything away but it did seem like something that might happen in real life, so I felt for her. I loved to hate Ryan, he was obviously put out that Jess had got her life together and was showing some independence, like most men do they try and tell you you've changed, just because you've finally got some backbone. They don't like it. It's difficult when you've got children and have to be civil for their sake, I think it's something a lot of women will relate to. It was good to learn a bit about Admin along the way, as it's not something I know much about. You could tell the author had knowledge in the field as I felt I got a good insight into what a college course would really entail. There were a couple of bits where I was genuinely shocked at the twists, and others that were a bit obvious (Clary's situation). I can't wait to read the next installment to find out what happens with her & Daniel, but what I'm most wanting to read is Trent's POV, especially when Jess makes her mistake as I imagine he would be completely broken. Overall it was a really enjoyable, easy read, and a very good first try from a brand new novelist. I hope there are lots more books from Helen to come in the future :)

Helen is a new author and this is her first book. I was given an arc for an honest review and I have to say I was highly surprised with how bloody good it is. Thankfully we don't get the stereotype millionaire. We get a more realistic character that many can relate to or know of someone who has been In a similar position. As a parent myself this hit home. I'm not a single parent but this book shows how divorce affects family's and each other. And how jealousy can finally hit home. I loved Jessic Helen is a new author and this is her first book. I'm not a single parent but this book shows how divorce affects family's and each other. And how jealousy can finally hit home. I loved Jessica. How she managed to hold herself high and carry on. She kept home even though she was destroyed at the beginning of her break up. Jess had so much going on, her life had changed dramatically. She had her new course, a new best friend, a new relationship on the horizon and an ex who wanted her back. Her emotions on what to do for the best was all over the place and sometimes mistakes are made. Mistakes that have drastic consequences. Mistakes that can haunt you and have you questioning what was going on in your mind. I have to say I seriously took a dislike to Ryan. He was good at playing his mind games. Lets face it, it was his decision to walk. But when he sees his ex and his family happy and moving on things happen. And with Christmas around the corner he wanted his family back. You could say he was jealous. But to me he was nasty, he knew what he was doing and he played the game. Trent is hot. And I love him. He risked everything to be with her no questions asked. He put everything into her and the children, even though we know it will be hard for him. Especially with his past problems and Ryan on his tail. But he is such an adorable man. What was not to love. Can old love rekindle or can mistakes be made? This story flowed beautifully and had me addicted from beginning to end. Well done Helen. I will be looking forward to more of your work. Chicks Looking For A Book Fix

Jessica Stark's life has changed drastically over the past year. Now being a single mom with 2 kids, she decides it's time to focus on herself. She decides it's time to go back to school so she can get the job she has always wanted. To Jessica's surprise, she finds that her new tutor is very good-looking,and can't help how much she is attracted to this man, Trent. Just maybe he might find her just as attractive. Unfortunately school policy keeps them from being able to pursue any type of relation Jessica Stark's life has changed drastically over the past year. Unfortunately school policy keeps them from being able to pursue any type of relationship other than tutor/student. How long can they keep temptation at bay? Jessica also has a new found best friend Clary who she can confide in about her and Trent's situation. The more Jessica and Clary hang out the more questions arise about how much she truly knows about her new friend. Finally being happy for once since her life has changed, Jessica's ex Ryan seems to take notice. He starts acting a little strange, like maybe he has had a change of heart. Can they overcome the past and have another go at it? I thought this was a great story, it seemed so realistic. I usually don't care for lead female characters because the typical ones are weak and whine a lot but Jessica wasn't like that. She is like any other single mom trying to make a better life for herself and kids. Even though she was trying to focus on herself she couldn't help but to be there for everyone else and trying to make sure everyone was happy. There was some humor is this book, seriously one part I laughed out loud and many parts I couldn't contain my cheesy grin. Trent was very yummy and I so want to go back to college hoping I could find me a Trent. Ryan was...well ok hot but I had mixed feelings about him, I went from feeling sorry for him to he needs a good kick in the balls. I'm looking forward to reading more from this author.

It was a breath of fresh air reading this novel, I loved getting to know Jessica who has become a strong, independent and very determined mother of 2, but I did want to climb into the book and slap her at one point, but I could totally understand because situations like that do actually happened ( you'll just have to read the book to understand that comment). I was hooked from the start because of the normality of the story line. What a pleasant surprise! I absolutely loved this book. Wow! From the first page to the last it keeps you so engrossed you actually forget to make your kids lunch and maybe even dinner. Jessica is starting her life over again after a split with her ex. She is finding out how strong she can be on her own. She strives in making it and has a little incentive with Trent Archer. (Yum). The Learning Curve by Hellen J Barnes So, I was asked to review this book and I'm so glad I was asked. Firstly I'd like to say that I really loved this book. Jess is the one of the main characters in this novel and she is a breath of fresh air. She has come out of a relationship and is now starting a new chapter of her life with 2 children, a new love interest and a jealous ex that's determined to get back what is his and is willing to do anything to make that happen. Jess is a real character, maybe she isn't perfect, maybe working a job, trying to better her career AND single handedly raising her 2 beautiful children isn't your idea of a female role model. Well, you'd be wrong. Jess is strong but caring, she is always there for the people around her, even if that sometimes means she neglects herself. This is the 'everyday' type of character, she's someone who you can imagine is out there somewhere, muddling through her life, making mistakes, but growing stronger with every step. That's my kind of heroin. Ryan is Jess's ex husband. He's obnoxious, narrow minded and egotistical. He decides he'd rather live the single DJ life that he loves and basically tells Jess to hit the curb. As lovely as all this is, Ryan's jealousy is the most prominent of all his traits and as soon as he gets a whiff of the 'other man' whose sniffing around, he soon fluffs his feathers and starts to win back 'his girl'. There's so many great characters in this book, Trent is swoon worthy, Clarissa is vulnerable and jess's best friend. I'd employ everyone to give this a go. It's an encapsulating read and if you can look past the minor errors, I'm sure you'll love it too xx

A forbidden romance that doesn't actually appear to be all that wrong. Two people attracted to one another, even though Jessica is 31, she has gone back to college and unfortunately for her the man that has caught her eye happens to be her teacher so in the eyes of the facilty they can't date but some attractions you just can't deny… The subject of domestic abuse is mixed into the storyline and is written in a way that is sensitive to the subject but doesn't necessarily dwell on it, I think it w A forbidden romance that doesn't actually appear to be all that wrong. There was nothing phenomenal about this book. I do like the forbidden romance element, teacher/student relationship but this story was just to slow. When stuff happened it was good stuff but it took too long to get to the get down and the good stuff was too few and far between
