I know that I am here for a reason. Stonehart abducted me, starved me, and left me in the dark... all for a reason. He is a cold man, but he is not irrational. He has his purpose. I have not yet discovered what it is. I should despise him. I should feel nothing but disgust when I think of him. And yet... yet sometimes, I don't. Because there are those precious moments I know that I am here for a reason. Because there are those precious moments when he makes me feel magnificent. Treasured. Like a real person. One who actually matters to him. I know those fleeting displays of affection should not sway my resolve. But I am not him. I do not possess his self-control. I cannot stay unaffected forever. Bit by bit, my stand is wearing at me. Do I still want revenge? Do I still want vengeance? Yes. Yes, of course I do. I want revenge. I want retribution. But Stonehart wants something from me, too. And the terrifying question that lurks in the back of my mind is: In the end, will it be his retribution, or mine?

With each book, this series just keeps getting better and better. Jeremy Stoneheart is cold and diabolical. I never know which side of him is real, or what he has planned next. My love affair with Jeremy is officially over. In UNCOVERING YOU 4: RETRIBUTION, he showed just how cold and depraved he can be and I don’t see how someone can come back from that. Jeremy has successfully isolated Lilly to the point that her every thought revolves around him. His Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde personalities are at a peak and she finds herself losing focus on her goal to seek revenge. But just as she becomes complacent in her new life, Jeremy’s darker side once again takes the reigns and reminds her once and for all that he is not her friend—he is most definitely the enemy. In UY3, I even found myself lulled into a false sense of security with Jeremy. But in UY4, I never had to worry about making that mistake. Even Jeremy’s nicer side is dark and self-seeking. I am at a complete loss as to what his plan is or why he does the things he does. While Lilly quickly discredits any chance of a bipolar disorder because of Jeremy’s complete control over himself throughout either personality, I couldn’t come up with a better reason he seems to want her in his life as much as he wants to break her. I am rooting for Lilly to find a way to ruin Jeremy before he does the same to her and finding solace in the prologue I vaguely remember from UY1. Scarlett Edwards has once again written a flawless story of darkness and cruelty, despair and survival. **Complimentary copy provided by the author/publisher for an honest review. **Reviewed by preppea on I ♥ Bookie Nookie Reviews.

I may be in the minority here, but I still think Jeremy will turn it around and we will see that he is not such a monster.....he wants Lilly to see him as monstrous. Yes he is a complete prick in Retribution, but I think there's a lot to his actions and lashing out..... So here are MY thoughts and suspicions on the story and the characters. The more appealing side of Jeremy, I believe is unintentional. He is confused when he enjoys Lilly and their time together. So he becomes infuriated with Lilly for causing it. He "needs" control of every aspect of his life and of his world. Lilly is evoking things in him that make him feel as if he is losing that control. Jeremy has plotted out exactly what will happen once he "possesses" Lilly, and she is causing him to deter from that. So when he begins to experience actual feelings, due to her, he lashes out to the extreme. It is his way of cutting off his emotions and making her hate him so that he can revert to being heartless and unaffected by Lilly. But it's not working for him so his reactions are getting more and more intense. He becomes the "monster" to try to conceal the man that she is unknowingly sparking to life. Lilly can tell the difference in his temperaments and is learning how to pacify the monster and how to behave with the man. Jeremy wants her to see him as the villain so he can succeed with his plans that have been in motion for so long. The secretary was him trying to make himself feel better. I think he was trying to prove it was just sex and it didn't matter who he was with. I think when he heard Lilly outside that he felt guilty for it. That pissed him off so he retaliated by degrading Lilly and making her stay in the room and getting back to it. Then he would prove to himself and to Lilly that he had no feelings or emotions towards her. He wanted to hurt her again and put up those barriers keeping emotions out of everything. I think he left her alone to isolate her and make her humiliation and anger fester to cause her hate him again. I also think he left her because HE needed the space and time to get his head back into his "game". He is trying to be in control and break Lilly down in every possible sense. But her strength and ability to take everything he has thrown at her is unexpected and messing with him. I think those qualities in Lilly intrigue him and that they are also the very way she is going to break him down bit by bit. His walls are crumbling. His outbursts have been getting more and more extreme. They are coming more frequently and intensifying and I think he's close to his breaking point and I think we will see it soon. And..... I. Can't. Wait. I will DEFINITELY be getting Uncovering You #5 on June 20! Thank you for another great read Scarlett! I can't wait for the rest of them! Here is a timeline that I have come up with from the 4 different books. Some of these dates are accurate but some are from Lilly's POV and are not correct because she is guessing since she had no way to confirm the dates at the time. October 2013 (Lilly gives this date - but the Contract requires her to maintain her physical appearance as it was on October 1, 2013) Lilly wakes up in the dark by the pillar November 10, 2013 Jeremy gets STD Tests Done - Lilly discovers she has been captive for 5 weeks (she thought it had been 2) November 2013 (Lilly gives this date - so we don't know for sure when it is) Lilly is punished again - Jeremy puts her back into the "dark" and now visits her every night June 2014 Lilly is back in the dark again. December 6, 2014 Lilly & Jeremy are making love and she "takes control" pulling him into a kiss by his hair --Lilly says she knows there will be "consequences" for her actions . . . December 20, 2014 An "old woman" is nursing Lilly back, says her body is "weak" and refers to Lilly as "Miss Ryder" When the woman says "Mr. Stonehart is going to be so pleased!" (due to Lilly accepting the water" - Lilly instantly locks up and refuses the water and the woman sobs and Lilly blacks out. --Is Lilly in this state of weakness due to her "consequences" that she received from 12-6-14? --Where is Rose?! Who is this "Old Woman" with the "Motherly Voice"? December 21, 2014 Jeremy pleads with Lilly to "wake up" and says, "Don't leave me. Don't do this. Not now. Not Now. GET UP!" --Not now? What changed to cause him to be so upset by her condition? 12-20-14 He has someone else caring for her - her refusal to accept the help has caused her to deteriorate. Apparently, she is now in a state that threatens her life so extremely that Jeremy is now involving himself because he is so desperate for her. 11 Years Ago Paul rescued Lilly from the cellar --Lilly saw a body in the cellar - where does that tie in? I think it must have some reason for being mentioned either the body or Paul are linked to Jeremy & Lilly somehow . . . ?

I have to remember how young she is. She is somewhat naive at times, which gets her in trouble. After all this time, there is not much she can count on or depend on to help her escape. She should know by now that Stonehart will do his upmost to prevent her from finding anything out about him that will give her the upper hand. Yet she still tries, I guess out of desperation. Let's get real, do you think he is going to leave town for 15 days and not lock his office? He is no fool! It was somewhat surprising to find that he is messing around with his secretary in his office at home while Lilly is there. This is the most demeaning part of the book. Poor Lilly, she is going to need a lot of self esteem and strength of character to remain sane with this man around. Just one other note...at the end of Chapter 5... the sex they have? I am sorry, but that was a turn off for me! If you use the back entrance, there is no way my mouth is going to go anywhere near you! Just had to say that. Looking forward to the next installment. We need to move on at this point to a meatier plot. I think we are ripe for Stonehart and Lilly to reach a point where the punishments are not so extreme and she begins to be at his side in the real world. This will be in tune with her plan to gain his trust. I think it would be smart for her to tone down her desire for revenge and gain Stonehart's trust. Only then can she begin to gather intel on how best to take her revenge and understand why he picked her. She has to now grow up and become a great actress in order to pull this off! Am I still invested in this series? You betcha!

In Retribution, Jeremy Stonehart continues to disgust me. Immensely. He's not likable at all! What's more, his unpredictable character is so hard to read. One day he's this sweet guy but most often than not, he's this monster beast who seems to enjoy punishing Lilly. He is a nominee for the ultimate jerk of the year award. And because of that, I don't know if his character is still redeemable in the end. I guess all these would depend on how the story would progress. Or... Who knows? I mean Jeremy's character remains a mystery. No secrets are revealed as to why he's doing this and that. So technically, after reading 4 books, I'm still left clueless. I actually understand Lilly with her confused feelings towards Jeremy. Who can blame her? Especially since the only person she has contact with most of the time is him. But despite it, I like that a part of her still wants to rebel against him. Every time I read this series, I ALWAYS read the prologue of book one because I want to understand Jeremy. If he seems to really care about Lilly that much, why is he acting like a monster? I hope I would get some answers to my questions soon... I'm so glad that the book is a bit longer than the first three, and I'm to expect longer in the succeeding books. I just hope some part of the mystery will be unravel soon. Can't wait for the next book.

I had to rate this book higher because things just got interesting. If you don't wanna know, please don't read further because my review might spoil it for you. Is Jeremy serious??? I know it isn't technically cheating because he and Lilly aren't in a relationship, but c'mon!! He's riding her bareback! That right there is reason enough not to involve someone else's privates!! And then to further torture her by forcing her to listen to them was a step too far, even for me. I felt so bad for Lilly. I had to rate this book higher because things just got interesting. Here she is thinking that maybe she and Jeremy share a connection, but he's having sex with a "free" woman and it even involves loving murmurs (something she doesn't share with him). I just couldn't believe him because I honestly thought he really wanted Lilly underneath it all. But she seems expendable :(. I really wonder what his motives are now after this shocker. He treats her really disrespectfully and I'm not sure if there is even a potential HEA for these two. How could there be? The things he's done are pretty unforgivable. Now he's subjecting her to the same mental torture as he did in the beginning (leaving her in one spot in the dark), and he still expects to take advantage of her body. WTF is going on???

I will not rate for now because I don't know how many stars to give, but I will tell that I feel disappointment right now mainly in Lilly, in which direction she goes. I don't want her weak and starry-eyed toward Jeremy. Jeremy Stonehart you make Javier from Sins and Needles look like a Sunday School teacher. I personally would like to dive in and save Lilly from your monstrous clutches and get that horrible collar from around her neck. Honestly this book through up more questions than answers but OMG I think I seriously need to question my sanity, because I fancy the pants of Mr Stonehart. He is one evil pig either that or with his dual personality he has an identical twin brother hiding in that mansion. So as this is a 10 book series, I thought it best to read them all before reviewing. Which this one did. So Lily is a self made Junior at Yale when she wins a contest that has her receiving numerous summer internship offers before her senior year. Being fully self-reliant since she left home for college, disowning her alcoholic mother and never knowing her father, she is overjoyed to receive a job offer following the internship. But suddenly it falls through and she is left with nothing, too late to go back to school, no apartment, no money. She takes a strange personal meeting with the CEO of one of the most successful companies in the country. Next thing she awakes in a dark room tethered by a string to a pillar with some type of collar around her neck. She is starved, electrocuted, and raped by her captor until she relents signing a contract of servitude. She discovers her captor to be Jeremy Stoneheart, the dashing and successful CEO she met with before being drugged and kidnapped. The author loves three things: to hear her characters talk to themselves in rambling inner musings that make absolutely no sense, she loves the word discomfiting, and owns a thesaurus. Some of the words she uses make no sense and are utterly ridiculous, if not misused altogether. I stayed with this series until book 9. 9! I kept hoping there would be a crazy big shock or reveal that would redeem all of this silliness. But honestly, by book 7 I was kind of voting for Jeremy to screw her over well and good because Lily is too stupid to be allowed to live. The only thing to know is that this series will cost you $28.92 in its entirety, so maybe it's not Lily who is really the idiot, but me for spending $24.93 on this crap. And maybe the author is really a genius after all. Spoilers to follow...SPOILERS BELOW...Spoilers! ******************** ******************** Now, Jeremy rapes and humiliates her at every turn. Molding her and forcing her into his service. He is very mercurial, actually more like schizophrenic with his moods. Not long into this, he declares true feelings for Lily and then calls it love after she suffers an accident and nearly drowns. Now, he removes the collar and slowly gives her space and freedom, on,y at every turn she finds out he's watching or something similar. Not really free. He cheats on her, blind folds, gags, and kicks her into a closet so she can hear him have sex with another woman immediate,y after sharing a tender and seemingly emotional day with her that had convinced her he may be changing to the better. All along, our idiot Lily convinces herself she is staying and playing this game to get back at Jeremy. But she spends so much time trying to convince herself of this, it's boring! She tells herself she needs to gain his trust and get close to him to "ruin" him for her revenge, and bides her time knowing this will take a while. Except when she has the chances to learn more about Jeremy, even if there just rumors and speculation, she turns her nose. Once with her best friends fiancé, an investigative reporter! Who was begging her to listen to all he had uncovered about her new boyfriend! Seriously. The second was from Jeremy's own father. She justified this because Jeremy and dad were adversaries. Still, who better to get dirt from?! And all this was after Jeremy admitted to drugging her and trying to make her think she was insane. What did she do? Verbally spar with him and then had sex with him! Now, why her? Well Jeremy admits early on the reason, revenge. Apparently, Lily's father, whom she never knew, had an affair with Jeremy's mother and broke her heart. His mother died in a house fire at Lily's father's home waiting for her lover. That's it. Jeremy manipulated and stalked Lily based solely on this, and has made all these covert plans to destroy her. Even knowing her father had never had any role in her life and she did t even know who the hell he was! Lame. He kidnaps her. Starves her. Rapes her repeatedly. Electrocutes her repeatedly. And even admitted to doing it because he could, not because she broke one of his rules. Cheats. Slaps, pushes, and kicks her. Drugs her. Repeatedly. And tells her every time. So really shame on her after the first time, right? Hires someone to get close to her mom. Remands her father to a mental hospital where he is now insane and is also collared and shocked repeatedly because Jeremy feels like it. Breaks her arm. Isolates her from her friends. Hires someone to rob her. Admits to her his plan was to make her fall for him and be completely dependent on him and then drop her ass on the street. Plays Russian roulette with her. Gun was absolutely loaded! I know I am forgetting some other stuff, but this is enough. Or you'd think this would be enough that you or I would be DONE. This idiot goes back to him.

I'm still really enjoying this series. Jeremy has a serious case of split personality. One minute he's finally showing some humanity then he goes back to being a sociopathic lunatic. I CAN NOT PUT IT DOWN and it's seriously an issue because i'm fucked with my studies ... the writing style was absolutely a perfection , it's suited for a fantasy Novel .... oh man if i knew all dark romances are like i should've tried it long time ago i feel like Lily is fighting a dragon or something not just a human lol the writing style was that good ! Bravo Scarlett ! i'm a big fan you made an amazing art , not just a trashy romance with no meaning every word , every line was in its place and yet it was unexpected ,it makes you cringe for more and you never get bored with it i'm so eager to read the rest if the series

Well, book 4 did not give that many new revelations. I was hoping for more. I love the story line, I love the characters, but I'm not sure if I will purchase the next 6 books. Jeremy you sadistic son of a bitch … how is it that I have fallen head over heels in love with you? More so, how is it that my trust in you is always questioned and I fear that all I have hoped for is nothing more than a game of cat and mouse. The Uncovering You series is a dark series. You think you have read all there is about evil and then you pick up the first book in this series and you realize how wrong you were. Torture and pain with a twist is what hooked me. I had to know why. I had to know who. I was addicted, hungry for any little detail the author shared. The characters within the pages of these books are extremely well-defined physically and emotionally. The author breathes life into these characters with her words making them explode on the pages with such intense realism. If you are a lover of dark, suspenseful erotic reads you will enjoy that the storyline is very unique. Mystery, intrigue, shock, surprise, lust, anger, hate, passion, deceit, contempt and revenge are contributing factors throughout the story. The intensity of the passion, the willingness to survive, the helplessness of giving in and the feeling of being so broken you doubt it will be possible to mend. The arrogance, the calm, the secrets, the lies, the uncertainty and the deep-seated anger wrap themselves around the words making this a story that is impossible to put down. While reading this series I found myself lost to the outside world. The only thing that existed lived within the pages of the books. I was owned by the author. Helpless to control my mind. To stop the screaming I heard inside of my head. I felt compassion, fear and anger. I felt hunger, mistrust and confusion. I felt shattered and spent. To say that I found these 8 books compelling would be an understatement. The pages hold mystery and intrigue, confusion and clarification, interest, hope and despair. The author never allows us to figure out the next step. She plays with our minds making us believe one thing only to surprise us with something else. Within 3 days I had read all 8 of the books in this series. I was hooked. I needed to know what happened next. This series became like an addiction to me. I found that I would pick up a book even if I only had a few minutes to read. This series was my introduction to Scarlett Edwards. One of the things that I really like about this author is she is fan driven. While reading the author’s thoughts in each book, it seems that she listens to what her fans want and attempts to accommodate their wishes. I will admit, that this made me like the author even more. If you enjoy dark reads. Stories with a leading male character who goes beyond evil but at the same time can fulfil some of your most intense darkest fantasies. If you enjoy stories with strong, smart and determined leading women. If you enjoy one of the most intense games of cat and mouse. A game of the hunter and the prey than you will love this series.

4.5 stars. I shouldn't continue to be surprised by Jeremy's dark and diabolical nature, but yet I am. Perhaps he would benefit from medication? However, Lilly rules that possibility out because beyond the rage and cruelness is a tight exterior of control exhibited by Jeremy. However, despite all of Jeremy's attempts to own Lilly in every way, she seems to be someone capable of making him become unglued in a split second. Of course I feel a lot of empathy for Lilly, she has no choice but to abide 4.5 stars. I shouldn't continue to be surprised by Jeremy's dark and diabolical nature, but yet I am. However, despite all of Jeremy's attempts to own Lilly in every way, she seems to be someone capable of making him become unglued in a split second. Of course I feel a lot of empathy for Lilly, she has no choice but to abide by the rules even when her mind wanders to consider the alternatives because revenge is tempting, if not necessary, even if it is only to be subtle in a passive-aggressive way. She's beginning to test out the mentality of keeping one's friend close, but keeping one's enemy closer. I still admire her internal strength. She is a true survivor and she lets herself enjoy the good moments, as displaced as her feelings might seem. Jeremy is a vile person, he might actually care for Lilly given all the trouble he has had to go through to get her and to keep her, but his way of expressing that is obviously unacceptable and totally depraved compared to a healthy relationship. Jeremy's got some serious issues stemming from his childhood that have yet to be elaborated on, otherwise I'm not sure what other explanation there could be. Yeah, I hate him, no doubt about that. He seems to enjoy the power trip and force over Lilly and well, to be quite frank, offering her these baby step rewards towards increased independence is so incredibly juvenile. The way he lashes out at her is extremely childish laced with dangerous adult malice. I have to hand it to Lilly in accepting this arrangement as her new frame of normal while she tries to anticipate Jeremy's motives because to consider otherwise would break her and she refuses to let that happen. Still so many questions linger, I honestly don't know what to think except to wait patiently for the next installment.

This book gained four stars simply for the excellent writing and my hope that as the author says in her byline that this story is led by her readers that she might listen to reason and give us something believable ! The secret to writing dark is to offer the sliver of hope that underneath it all there is romance building .It ceases to be fun when the anti hero jumps the shark so to speak and does things that can NEVER be forgotten and forgiven because it would take a miracle at this point for me This book gained four stars simply for the excellent writing and my hope that as the author says in her byline that this story is led by her readers that she might listen to reason and give us something believable ! As for Lilly ,well ....she is rather wet and pathetic at this point and at one point I just wanted her to head for the cliffs because (view spoiler)[ he raped her anally with no lube, threw her in to closet after dragging her on a leash gagged and blindfolded and made her watch him with another woman but she makes very little attempt to escape over 15 days ???Pleeease As you can see it's a love, hate relationship I'm having with these books at the moment but I'm appealing to the author ,we need to see Lilly fight back . This is the first book that has made me cry and feeling helpless. I really do not know how to rate it. I gave it a 4 because regardless of how I feel it does make you want to continue to read to get some closure. I do want to get to the end and hope for a happy ending for Lilly. I feel so bad for this poor girl getting rape and treated like an animal. I have a child who is going to college soon and it make me scare because even though this is fiction it can really happen. I am totally stress about this book and hope for a reward for Lilly's suffering. All the previous books had me stress but this one took the cake. I want to hurt Jeremy myself. Why her though? I even though that maybe he was Paul who changed his name and he blames her for the split between her mother and him. Or her mother did something and she is being use for revenge against her mother. There is just not enough in her pass to draw any theory. I just want to get to the end.

I raced through UY4 with great anticipation! I was most eager to learn more about the characters, specifically more clues about Stonehouse and his motives. I crave more! We are left wondering and waiting...heightened expectancy...to be continued...4/5 for this one! I was provided an ARC from the author in exchange for an honest review.

Love to hate it? I am obsessed with this series. It has me reading it in one sitting, which isn't hard when it's pretty short but even if it was double the length is read it through. Most of this series has me Hoping Jeremy isn't so evil, hoping he is more like the Jeremy taking Lilly on a walk. But I'm not so sure anymore. I closed this book and I'm pretty sure I said I hate him. I hate what he's doing to Lilly, how he is treating her and ummm hello??? Underage Secretary??? Why would he do that. Love to hate it? This book is a beautiful terrifying train wreck and I'm wondering in the end, if anyone will make it out unharmed!!

Book 4 of Lilly's disaster and the girl just can' catch a break. Her captor's moods swing from mild to violent, his messages and intents remain confusing, and we still don't know why it's all happening ..but I am starting to develop a hypothesis or two of possibility since we know she wasn't taken randomly. It took me a few book in to finally have the right words to say. This series has been so very different than I expected. It's different, it's dark, it's captivating and it keeps you wanting more. Usually when you read a novella it doesn't have much meat to the story in such little time. Not this series. This series is full of meat. It doesn't have the fluff you expect in a novella. There has been times throughout the series were I've questions Lilly's judgement. Is she interested in Mr. Crazy or does she have Stockholm's? I wonder about that. Who is Rose and how does she fit in? My question are starting to pile up so I'm really hoping to get some answers soon.

I found the beginning interesting and with suspense, is a story that is not for everyone, because it has sexual violence.I enjoyed reading the first 4 books. Already started the book #5. In my opinion the male character is definitely a sociopath and I want to see how the author will justify for everything he did.In my point all the violence promoted by him has no justification whatsoever. Even with all the physical and psychological violence I'm enjoying reading, because story shows interesting as I found the beginning interesting and with suspense, is a story that is not for everyone, because it has sexual violence.I enjoyed reading the first 4 books.
