Scandals, affairs, stealing money from the empire duck business, this isn't your typical read from the Duck Dynasty family. But then again, you wouldn't understand the redemption that God has done in Al and Lisa's heart, let alone their marriage. They are far from perfect, but perfect for one another and saved by grace. This book is a testament that God can and continues to use evil for good. It comes with a cost, but it is worth the cost. I also loved how honest Al and Lisa were throughout the Scandals, affairs, stealing money from the empire duck business, this isn't your typical read from the Duck Dynasty family. Very quick read that made me squirm more than once because it felt like I was invading the private lives and struggles that this couple had endured through the years. It is a book of respect and love that came very late to two very broken people. Hard to read but knowing that in the end God has plans for us for good if we will only listen.

I read this in one Sunday afternoon. It was an excellent, excellent story of brokenness and redemption. I really appreciate the authors' humbleness in telling the entire story of their past in order to reveal God's mercy and power! I think this is an important book for couples to read together as well as singles such as myself. The main reason I loved this book was for the testimony of God's mercy and salvation in finally saving Alan and then Lisa after years of brokenness and sin! I would never have read this book without Naomi having recommended it, but I'm glad she did. Al and Lisa Robertson (of Duck Dynasty fame) share very candidly about their marriage struggles in a way that was helpful and encouraging to me. Their journey through betrayal, repentance and forgiveness felt very real, genuine and imitable. The chapters at the end where they capture lessons learned and principles for strong marriages rise above the triteness you might expect. This book was hard to put down once I'd started. Their story gives hope to people dealing with any sort of problems, not just marital. There's not as much of the hunting/fishing/backwoods stuff as some of the other DD books. Highly recommended This book was hard to put down once I'd started. Alan and Lisa Robinson of Duck Dynasty fame write of the trails and tribulations of their lives from growing up through the television reality series. They openly discuss many topics and also spend time tracing their paths of spiritual development and their efforts to save their marriage.

This book is one that you need to read if you are struggling with something in your marriage. I am a teenager that really likes that back story of the Robertsons so I read this. You learn some problems in their marriage and how they overcame them. I really enjoyed this book because it was a book I could read to keep my hopes up about anything. You learn that Lisa had an affair that really tore up the marriage and almost affected the lives of their kids. In addition to their marriage problems, Alan and Lisa are very good at explaining how to solve other themes that are problems. Their connection started in middle school that started a little rocky. Alan turned out to be a pastor in the church where his family started their “Christian way of life” after helping his father start the famous Duck Commander business. It explains how their families came into play about the affair and tried to resolve a problem. One of the biggest things I really enjoyed and give credit to Alan is that after the affair, he didn’t just give Lisa divorce papers. He decided to spend time apart and think about what happened and if he could continue their lives together. He and Lisa were planning to go on a mission trip to Europe together before he knew about the affair, but his mom went with him and his kids. He told Lisa that if he doesn’t miss her on this trip, they don’t need to be together. But if he really misses her, that means they could work their problems out and stay together. It turns out that he did miss her and decided they were going to work their problems out. They went to counseling and eventually they got back together. Now they counsel couples themselves that are having problems sharing their stories to them to help. I recommend this book to anyone having problems with their marriage or wanting to learn about the Robertson family. I loved this book and I want to go read the other books by the Robertson family.

They strongly believe in and use this saying frequently in the book, 'Faith, Family, Ducks. Faith, because they needed God's power to get them through this time. Family, because they strongly relied on family's support and love to assist them on the road to redemption and Ducks, because their family has a very successful duck hunting business and a TV show called Duck Dynasty. What’s the book about? The book "A New Season" explained Al and Lisa's situation in depth and detail. It went over all the struggles, all the decision making and included all the tears and heartbreak the couple experienced. They are seen on TV as a happy loving couple and they are now, but before they were featured on TV and before their family's business was so successful Al and Lisa had some issues and the book really keeps you hooked there's so many climactic parts in the book and I never stopped reading, I really enjoyed it. Lisa and Al have crazy lives, anything from abortion to affairs to living in the woods!! It's crazy, but it's an amazing piece of writing. What are two things you liked about the book? What’s one thing you disliked about the book? Did you dislike the ending? Was it too long? Two things I liked about "A New Season" was, one, the book was constantly wanting you to keep reading, honestly there isn't really a boring page in the entire book, it's one mistake after another and it's very intriguing and never leaves you bored. Another thing I like was the spiritual take on the whole situation. I am Christian and I really liked how they included how Al and Lisa used God to get them through hard times, it's really inspiring to someone of my faith and it's empowering to know someone has the same beliefs as I do during rough times. I would say I disliked the llittle slurs they have on the side, for example it says a sentence in the book then puts the same sentence on the side just to take up space. I actually really liked the ending it was a perfect summary and conclusion of the book and really tied it together. Lastly, the book was a prerfect length not to long for young adult readers but also not to short and easy for adult readers either!! Discuss specific readers you think would like this book. I feel fans of religious, climactic or dramatic books would really like this book. The spiritual aspect of it is really interesting to those who have any sort of relationship with God. It is very interesting the whole book so if you don't cope well with parts of books being boring (like me) it keeps you hooked the whole time. It keeps you interested the whole time because it's so dramatic, the book is really, really spectacular because of all the drama included and all of the interesting, sad and scary times in their lives. I highly recommend this book!!

A New Season: A Robertson Family Love Story of Brokenness and Redemption is by Duck Commander's "beardless brother" Al Robertson and his wife, Lisa. Al and Lisa Robertson tells how their lives were like growing up and during their school days. They tell about the heartache they experienced during those years, which led them far from God and turning to drugs, alcohol, sex and other evil lifestyles. Al briefly describes what it was like being Phil Robertson's son in the early years and how he took care of his younger brothers while Miss Kay tried to make ends meet. Lisa tells of being molested at a young age and her relationship with her family. She also shockingly reveals that at age 16, she has an abortion. Al and Lisa met while in middle school. Lisa was quickly smitten. They began dating in high school where Al introduces her to fast cars, alcohol, drugs, and sex. Al was not a very nice young man and treats Lisa horribly, leaving her heartbroken. He later turns himself around, leading back to Lisa. They marry and endured many obstacles for the next thirty years. Including the early birth of their daughter, Al going to preaching school, loneliness and infidelity. Lisa is very honest when she discusses her emotional affair with one man and then a sexual affair with another. This led Al to make important choices regarding his marriage and what was best for his family. How he deals with it is truly inspiring. After many problems in their marriage, Al and Lisa proves that any marriage can endure anything. Every chapter in the book has a section called "Seasoned Reflections", which includes scripture for inspiration and encouragement. At the end there is an Appendix: Two Keys to a Dynamic Marriage and Questions for Individual Reflection or Group Discussions. Great book married couples. 5 stars. I received a free copy of this book from Howard Books, for my honest review. The opinions expressed here are my own.

If you only take away one great idea from this book it is worth the time invested. I suspect you’ll find several ideas to make your marriage. My favorite idea is that once an action has been forgiven it becomes neutralized – not forgotten – rather no longer used as ammunition in a fight – how powerful it that idea?! We have shared this idea as a family (including with teenagers—this is the ultimate forgiveness – not using the action against the person later). This book would make a wonderful bible study course book. A great book to share with those contemplating marriage and a delightful gift for someone you love. Enjoy. NetGalley and Howard Books provided an advanced review copy of this book in exchange for an honest review!

I enjoyed this book by Al and Lisa, like I have liked all the other books from this great family.. I don't need marriage advice but I wasn't going to not read this book. But you got to see a relationship go from bad to good to worse and then back on track to great. Forgiveness is a powerful thing... So thankful for this whole Robertson family for opening up their lives and showing people what God can do!!

The person said that this was a sinful book, in so many words. The entire point of Jesus dying on the cross for us is to take our sins away. He forgives our sins if we repent and it's clear that Al and Lisa did.

Lisa and Al Robertson share their story of love and redemption and how they overcame infidelity and other trials through their marriage. They are both so transparent and honest that others will be open to listening to their story because they are so non-judgmental. Lisa also shares how she never addressed her childhood sexual abuse which led to promiscuity and her dependency on seeking mens' approval instead of Christ's; and how she finally overcame this by surrendering her life to Christ. I imagine this book was very difficult for both Al and Lisa to write. I am thankful that they did as it showed how working together with God's help they were able to save their marriage. I picked this book up multiple times from the library and never cracked the spine. Predictably, I was not as motivated to read the lesser known Robertson couple's book than I had been previous Robertson family books. Wonderful and enlightening read This is an amazing and well wrote book. Al and Lisa shed light and hope for almost any situation a relationship could encounter. They share very intimate and personal experiences from their lives together as well as before they were together. I admire these two and thank them for being so open and honest about real life, and yet show how the grace of God and his wonderful loving, and forgiving way is truly the only way, and how blessed believers truly are.

Excellent book brought tears to my eyes many times. Forgiveness is a wonderful thing, to be able to forgive one another as Al and Lisa did is fantastic, but as Lisa stated she also had to forgive herself. That is something that is and would be hard to do. God's Blessings to this amazing Couple that loved each other and with the help from God to make it work.
