The world will fail and all will have been for naught.” –Excerpt from The Genesis Project What would you do if you had the power to save humanity from the face of darkness and the seemingly sealed fate of ultimate death? Would you gather your courage to stand up and fight, or would you break down, buckling under the pressure of almost certain death? Reighlyn D’Crey lived a normal teenage existence until her eighteenth birthday – then everything she knew crumbled around her. It was a time that should have been filled with joy, it quickly turned into the fight of her life, the fight for her life and the fight for all mankind. Reighlyn is not like other teenage girls. Gifted, she possesses rare talents that most people couldn’t even fathom. She kept them a secret all her life, until her eighteenth birthday. Reighlyn’s mother received a letter from Reighlyn’s father – a man long thought to have been dead. The letter detailed a horrible truth: The world as they knew it would cease to exist if a group of powerful terrorists, The Militia, had their way. The Militia was planning a takeover extraordinaire. Their main focus was to capture all of the gifted on Earth. Reighlyn and her mother, Rowan, were left with no choice; they had to run. Escape was their only option so they fled to the one place where Reighlyn’s father said they would always be safe, The Sonora Caves. After an intense run-in with the Militia, sparks fly between Reighlyn and a dark, mysterious man with strange but alluring eyes. He does the unthinkable: Before letting Reighlyn, Rowan and her friend, Blaine, leave without reproach, the man promises to find Reighlyn again. Who is this strange, undeniably sexy man? Reighlyn’s entire existence is redefined once again in Sonora where she learns she is the leader of a prophesied group, they had waited patiently for her to find her way, to lead them all in more ways than one. The prophecy reads, “A group of seven will champion those in need. They will be the new beginning, the end to war; without them, all will be lost. To the one who is above all, none are more important than her. She, who is born under the full moon and been kissed by fire; she, who has no beginning and no end; she, who wields five will lead the Seven. She, who is marked with the seven stars upon her skin. Without the one, the six will fail. The world will fail and all will have been for naught.” Reighlyn must learn to come into her own as a woman as she learns to fight, lead and love with a fire emblazoned heart. Balancing love, the heavy weight of being a prophesized leader and learning to move forward in a strange new world can be quite a load for any girl to bear. As the war rages on, can the Seven defeat the evil Militia with Reighlyn at the helm? The Militia have efficiently and effectively destroyed modern civilization with their careless tactics and they will not go down without a fight. Let’s hope the Seven are not too late.

But Reighlyn and her mom receive a letter from her father telling them that the power is going to go out and about a group who is after the gifted. Reighlyn finds out that she is gifted but it's more than that not only is she gifted but she is also one of the Seven. A prophecy stating that the Seven are the ones to take back the world from the evil Militia. She is the supposed leader and will enter the fight of her life. Now Reighlyn must grow up quickly and find out who she is and what she's capable of to become the leader that the people need. Along the way she'll experience love, loss, and untold compassion. This was a great story concept. I loved the different kinds of powers and the story concept. It was a good vs evil type of story. The story was quickly paced and made for a fast read. Because it was quickly paced there were some things left out that could have made the story better. The characters didn't have much depth or emotion. There were a lot of times that the dialogue or interactions were not believable and felt too agreeable. The love story was one of those things that moved too quickly and wasn't all that believable. I didn't really like the main character that much. She never really knew of her powers but right away she excelled at them, that was kind of questionable. Another thing I didn't care for is how she treated the relationships situations. That being said I still enjoyed the story but it could have been so much better. I enjoyed the different characters and wished we could have seen more about who they are. Garrett and McKenna are probably my favorite. They both faced struggle and loss grounding the story in reality. The action was good and I hope for more of it. I am curious what the next story brings. I would recommend this book to YA fans who enjoy a quick paced and easy to read paranormal good vs evil battle. I rate this 3.5 fangs.

Rowan D’Crey (mom) was telling Reighlyn D’Crey (Reigh; 18; uncrowned Queen) her father Dillon D’Crey had not been killed in a secret military operation. He was an elementalist. Reigh had also inherited those traits + an Ecological Empath (psychic connection) & a Telekinetic. The mother & daughter had to move from their city in Tennessee because it had become a downward spiral. The military wanted Reigh. The 2 decided on Texas. But something unexpected happened Reigh’s ex-B/F Blaine was hiding in Rowan D’Crey (mom) was telling Reighlyn D’Crey (Reigh; 18; uncrowned Queen) her father Dillon D’Crey had not been killed in a secret military operation. But something unexpected happened Reigh’s ex-B/F Blaine was hiding in their garage. He/dad were also gifted (electricity). Blaine’s family was gone. Upon arriving the 3 were going to live in the Sonora caves. 7 according to the prophecy will have a birthmark in shape of a star & will be destined to become the new leaders that could eliminate war (Militia) & famine from the world (The Genesis Project). Reighlyn birthmark was a star surrounded by 6 other stars. Ben Brewster birthmark had a star with 2 adjacent ones. Jasper Corbin (25) birthmark also showed a different display of stars. Luke Juif also had stars. Battle training & preparation had begun. Seems like all the guy’s like Reighlyn, will she fall in love with 1 of them? Who are the other 3 gifted ones? Where does the dimensional portal lead to? Will the chosen’s ones & those that are not be able to overpower General Cora Wu, Buck Buchanon, Rolland Deutermont III, Zarah Raynes & the militia? I really enjoyed reading it, it was just OK for me but more geared for an older teen I think. A very awesome book cover, great font & writing style. Wow, a very well adventure even a touch of romance written book. It was very easy to read/follow from start/finish & never a dull moment. No grammar errors, repetitive or out of line sequence sentences. Lots of exciting scenarios, with several twists/turns & a great set of unique characters to keep track of. This could also make great adventure movie (Avatar; Hobbit Desolation of Smau), animated cartoon, or mini TV series. There is no doubt in my mind this is a very easy rating of 5 stars. Thank you for the free book Tony Parsons MSW (Washburn)

Now the only thing for them to do is run, find a safe place and hide. On their journey they meet other gifted people and eventually end up at The Sonora Caves where a group of gifted are waiting and planning. It has been prophesised that a group of seven will champion those in need and basically save the world. Reighlyn learns she is one of the seven and is forced into a leadership role. The Genesis Project is a fast paced quick read and promises to be a really exciting series. A totally fresh idea about people with supernatural powers and a war that begins when the Militia want to control the gifted and force them to become soldiers against their will. I enjoyed the story it kept me hooked from the start and I completed the read in one sitting, I found the writing style a little difficult to get into at first but I either got used to it or the author got into her groove as the story unfolded. I look forward to continuing the series. Copy supplied for review

People are dying and disappearing all over and all she wants to do is keep her mother safe and survive. Rowan, Reigh’s mother comes up with a plan of where they can hide. On the day they are about to leave an old flame, Blaine, shows up at their home. With little choices left he agrees to go with them and hopefully they can find safety and he can find some answers. Their journey is not without peril. They run into militia types and what they find when they arrive at their intended destination is more than they bargained for. Being told that you are a part of a prophesy that is meant to save the world is a huge thing to hear. How will Riegh deal with the things that are thrown her way? At such a young age can she truly lead these people to a better life? Will the militia get to them before they are prepared and stop the uprising before it can truly begin? This story sucked me in right from the start. I am left yearning for the second of this journey.

I received an e-copy of this book in exchange for a fair and honest review. Fresh. Original. Addictive. Thrilling. These are just some of the words that I would use to describe this novel. She possesses supernatural powers and she doesn't quite understand why or how to use them. It isn't until she is throttled into a seat of power that she realizes her true potential. It is a dangerous world, and when Reighlyn learns she is an integral component of an elite team that is civilizations last hope against the evil Militia. Reighlyn must rise up as a leader against evil and as a woman as she juggles war, love and a diverse range of powers that prove to be civilizations greatest weapon in the war against evil. There is not a slow spot in this book. Not a sentence where I was lost. I was invested from the beginning. Imagine a post-apocalyptic read without zombies. This read draws fresh blood from the paranormal romance and is definitely an author to watch in the future. This is an excellent debut novel and I look forward to De Leon's future works.

Prophecy of the Seven is an epic beginning to what will soon be (in my opinion) a favorite Fantasy/Paranormal Favorite Series, The Genesis Project. C.L. draws you into the story instantly in a fulfilling story that leaves room for so much more! This book held my attention from beginning to end and it is without a doubt a series I will follow through with until the end.

Good story. Definitely a promising start to a series, if the writer chooses to pursue that route. What struck me the most about this was the characters. They were all different ages - not like some other sci fi/fantasy stories out there where all the characters are young - thus offering various perspectives on all the situations. The only advice I would give to the author is to invest in a good editor. Other than that, I enjoyed this book very much.
