This is a ya novelization of the first part of the film. It doesn't add anything (which is something -all- such novelizations -should- do (in my opinion, of course) to the story, and stops at a fairly random place. So, it turns out this was a junior novelization. I downloaded the audiobook without much consideration, thinking it might be a separate story. I was wrong. It is a retelling of the first half of the Winter Soldier movie, rendered in minute detail. That said, for its intended audience, I think this would be a good book. I'm not sure how much kids are still excited about this movie, but if your kid is, this would probably help them to understand social nuance without having them having to think about it too much, which seems fairly valuable. I probably wouldn't have sought this out if I had known what it was, but I'm not upset that I did, and that's saying something.

The only reason I picked this up was because I'm waiting for another audiobook to come in and now I remember why I never read movie novelizations. I've lost track of the number of times it's used the word "quickly" and it just replaced the word "hell" with "heck." This is both precious and terrible please save me. Rather poorly written at times unfortunately. I was hoping for more background info from between the movie scenes rather than just less-apt descriptions of exact movie scenes and dialogue that wasn't as well written as the actual movie. About 1/3rd of the movie, faithfully reproduced, and then suddenly a janky, hastily thrown together ending, that cuts out the most exciting parts of the movie and entirely alters the original story.
