Want a good series for beginning readers? Here's a nice one. This entry in the "Short Vowel Adventure" series focuses on the short vowel sound of the letter "a." Gram Mouse is making jam for Ann, Fran, and Stan. Unfortunately, some rats want the jam, and try to get it through disguise and stealth...without success. Finally Ann, Fran, and Stan find a solution that scares off the rats. What makes this series stand out, however, are the illustrations. They are crisp and colorful staged photographs with adorable old-fashioned stuffed animals. There is much here to see, and young readers will enjoy both reading the simple tale, and exploring the delightful pictures.

This was an incredible awesome read! The illustrations cover the full page and are colorful enough with the cutest characters to catch and hold your attention! The stories are cute, simple, clever and short enough for young readers to wade through themselves or for reading by an adult maybe at nap time or bed time! At the end of the book, to encourage your imagination the author leads with a sentence that you can make your own story up! Books will be read and re-read many times as the children a This was an incredible awesome read! Books will be read and re-read many times as the children actually learn their vowels, without even knowing they’re doing it! Wish we had had books like this when I was little! Most enjoyable, even had me laughing out loud and thinking of what my story would be!

I read this book with a student who needed extra help reading. This book is part of a wonderful series, the BraveMouse Readers, which highlights short vowel sounds. All of the character's names and many other words have the short "a" sound. The pictures are so adorable as well as creative and fun to look at! My student loved the action in the story and laughed at the funny plan the mice had to rid the house of the rats! I thought this book was well written, educational and fun! The pictures were very detailed and held my attention, not to mention the story of the short vowel adventures. Now my 5 year old son LOVED this book, we laughed together at the pictures, and of the story. He read the book to his older sister who wanted to know who made all the things in the pictures. (My daughter is very artistic and loves to create scenes, people, animals.) A wonderful book that I can't wait to share with his teacher, s I thought this book was well written, educational and fun! I received a free copy in exchange for an honest review.

We loved this book! It is a great book for children. The short vowel adventure which emphasizes how to correctly pronounce a word is a wonderful and interesting way that teaches children how to read. The illustrations were darling and the story starter at the end of the book really gets the children talking. The children like to read the book to Gosig Mus and Gosig Ratta (Ikea mouse and rat Characters).

Part of the BraveMouse Readers series, Rat Attack works with short vowel "A." Gram is making jam, when the rat appears as a bandit, a monster, and a magician. Rat is finally frightened off by the mice who pretend to be a cat. The illustrations are charming, bright, tiny felted animals in handmade clothing. The vocabulary is limited. Sharing and cooperation are themes that run throughout the book. Part of the BraveMouse Readers series, Rat Attack works with short vowel "A." Another volume in Molly Coxe's BraveMouse Readers series is Rat Attack. Obviously, this one focuses on the "a" sound in rat. Again there is a moral and teaching. However, once again the adorably crafted figures and their surroundings are the highlight of the book for me. I also like how at the end there are prompts for the reader to create their own stories based on a given situation. Another volume in Molly Coxe's BraveMouse Readers series is Rat Attack. Great Books

Gram is making jam when she hears a tap on the door. Rat attack. Can Ann, Fran, and Stan save Gram - and the jam? Story Starters at the end of the book will encourage early readers to tell a story. The beautiful and creative pictures are cleverly arranged photographs. (reviewer #7)

Another easy to read book for young children. I think they're great for introducing children to reading, and for having them read along with a parent.
