2.5 - FOR CHRIST’S SAKE STOP BLOODY CRYING – Stars And that’s being generous, and only because of the writing style and because of Brooks! If I had to rate for Brooks alone, it would be Five Stars – but unfortunately we have to contend with the MC, Katy Michaels. How I thought I was going to feel reading this How I actually felt reading this Welcome to a new level of STUPID from a female character. Katy Michaels. What? You thought Bella Swan was stupid, or Anastasia Steele, or Ava O’Shea (This Man)? Well, you have yet to meet Katy Michaels. One thing that REALLY drove me mad about this book was how often Katy would cry. Seriously, it was on almost every damn page. She would either cry, sob, or both ON ALMOST.EVERY. DAMN.PAGE. I cried. I sobbed. I began to cry. I was crying so much. SO WAS I. SO.WAS.I. Crying, sobbing, soaked in tears. I cried. I sobbed. I cried again . . . Oh, where to start. The story. Ok, well, it had promise, the blurb was interesting and although I hate love triangles I was prepared to like this because it didn’t seem like your typical love triangle scenario at all. The story centered around Katy, and started off with her at age 12. She had always lived next door to identical twin boys Brooks and Branch (Branch? Seriously? WTF kind of name is that???) She has a massive crush on Brooks. He’s the more romantic and kinder of the two. Anyway, she practices French kissing with both boys, and it is definitely sealed that she has feelings for Brooks. And so, it would appear, did he have for her. However, events take a tragic turn the very next day when both of Katy’s parents are killed at the Pentagon during the 9/11 terrorist attacks. The twin’s parents, who were life long friends of Katy’s parents, become Katy’s guardian. The story then skips 6 years and we have Katy visiting her parent’s grave on the anniversary of their death, and she is with Branch, with whom she is now in a serious relationship. Whooaaa!! Did I say Branch??? Yep. That’s right. It seems that Brooks didn’t come forward with his feelings for Katy, so she decides if she cant have him, she will have the next best thing –his identical twin. Hmmm. Not really fair on anyone that, I would say. And here we have the very first example of Katy and her ingrained stupidness. She is angry when Brooks shows interest in other girls, and yet she flaunts her relationship with Branch in front of him all the time. Not surprisingly, Brooks, who still so obviously has feelings for Katy, feels he has to leave home. So he enlists in the Army. A year later and Katy and Branch are living together and engaged to be married, but whilst on a visit to Branch’s parents, she discovers a letter from Brooks, addressed to her, that he wrote on the off chance she and only she would find it and read it. She does. It changes things. But not enough it would seem – Katy still plans on marrying Branch, and on the wedding night some serious shit goes down, and Katy does just the most illogical thing she could do. Seriously, it defies any logic of any kind. This next bit is more or less in the blurb so I'm not really spoiling anything putting it in here without a spoiler tag; Branch shows his true colours towards Katy when he gets drunk. Katy and Brooks finally tell each other how they feel. Katy and Brooks have sex, and lots of it. In the morning they again profess their undying love for each other. Katy then tells Brooks she is going to get some stuff from her apartment, but actually gets in her car and drives a thousand miles away because, and get this, she cant face Branch or his parents over what happened with Brooks. SO SHE LEAVES BROOKS WITHOUT SO MUCH AS A WORD, KNOWING HE IS GOING TO AFGHANISTAN, AND TELLS NO-ONE WHERE SHE IS GOING??? Katy makes bad decision after bad and you finally understand why the title is Love’s Suicide, because really Katy does EVERYTHING she can to kill it. I’m not giving anything away by saying that Katy is pregnant with Brooks child (it tells you this on the blurb) but still she doesn’t tell him or contact him at all. Instead, she marries Bobby, some local guy where she has landed because he seems kind and offers her his medical insurance. It is at this point in the story that you know Katy is determined to head in completely the *****SPOILERS – SPOILERS AHEAD****** Okay, I can kid of get why she married Bobby, but after the baby is born and he turns on her, showing her what a bastard he is, and she leaves him, what I don’t get is why does she take him back?? OK he was injured, but that wasn’t her problem was it? The guy was a brute and a jerk and she should have just left well enough alone, but no, this is Katy we are talking about, so she takes him back. At this point she decides to contact Brooks and tell him she still loves him, hiding his return letters from Bobby. I mean, if she wants Brooks at last why take Bobby back into her house? MAKES.NO.SENSE. And then, Katy does the most stupid thing yet. Brook’s letters stop suddenly, so she phones her best friend back home to see if she knows anything, this best friend btw is now in a relationship with the jilted Branch. When her friend answers and realising it is Katy after all this time, she says “are you calling about Brooks? How did you know?” But instead of doing what you or I or anyone with more brain cells than a damn leaf would do and asking WHAT HAS HAPPENED TO HIM Katy - for some reason known only to the stupid - just throws and smashes the phone and ASSUMES HE IS DEAD !!! WHAT?? WHY? WHY? WHY? Well, you see, by this point I realised that Katy’s brain, is, well, Anyway, she then decides that she might as well make do with brutal Bobby and tells him everything about the letters and says that now that the love of her life is dead she will stay his wife and have his children. Except Brooks isn’t. Dead that is. Of course he bloody isn’t – he was just badly injured. And when Katy realities this as the letters appear again, she pulls the rug from under Bobby and unsurprisingly he beats up on her. I say unsurprising cos he had already hit her before, not cos its deserved or anything, Although at this point, I wanted to bloody well beat Katy up myself!! Anyway, Brooks plays hero and protects Katy and their Daughter, whom he adores, but the stupid doesn’t stop with Katy. When Bobby comes looking for her she gets in his car like a fucking dumbass even though he is drunk and then proceeds to him across the head with a bottle of vodka WHILST HE IS DRIVING- and DUH the car crashes! What's that,Forrest? Yep. I guess so. At this point I wanted Katy to die in that crash, and leave Brooks the hell alone better off without her and bring up their daughter with the help of his family. No such luck. Anyway, on and on, it goes, and Katy cries on and on, and sobs, and cries, and cries more and more, and more . . . Rinse and Repeat. Rinse and Repeat. Rinse and Repeat. Rinse and Repeat. Rinse and Repeat. Rinse and Repeat. Rinse and Repeat. Rinse and Repeat. Rinse and Repeat. Rinse and Repeat. Rinse and Repeat. Rinse and Repeat. Rinse and Repeat. Rinse and Repeat. Rinse and Repeat. Hey Katy!? The story was saved by Brooks. He was such a lovely character. I totally adored him, and what he does for Katy at the end? A.D.O.R.A.B.L.E. If it weren’t for the character of Brooks I would have given this no stars for story. Brooks totally saved this story for me. Five stars for Brooks !!!!! I would say though that this book is worth seeing through to the end, because the ending was lovely. But for life of me I think Brooks deserved better than Katy. This book is also very long – 587 pages – that’s an awful lot of crying!! How I felt when I had FINALLY finished this book Would I recommend this book? Yes, to those of you who love loads and loads of angst and running around making life difficult and all the drama and who doesn’t mind a weak wimpy whiny wretch of a female lead. All my friends who have read this TOTALLY LOVED IT. So once again I am in the minority, but it was yet another sHell No! for me. Thank you for reading!

I am pondering on how to rate this book. Generally when I go into a book it starts at 4 stars then it can go either north, south, or stays at 4. I was nervous when I saw this book and this is when as an avid reader, I should always trust my spidey sense. I'm not going to put down this authors work or deter anyone from reading it. I am just going to put my honest thoughts out there because it's what I would want someone to do for me if I was reading their review. I am just going to put my honest thoughts out there because it's what I would want someone to do for me if I was reading their review. This book had many highs and lows. For the first part of the book I was hooked. There was a triangle of delicious twins wanting the same girl. This girl loved them both and then she made a series of wrong decisions .... This is when the book headed south for me. I am not a fan of cheating or triangles or white lies or lies by omission and I hate double dipping and then triple dip. In one book ? Oh hell no. If these things are not your cuppa Steer clear But I took the risk because it was very clear early on which brother she should be with and which brother was shining brighter. The author definitely wrote his character beautifully and flawless ..... Now her character .... Not so much. She made bad decision after bad decision and then more bad decisions. It was literary whiplash. You will get angles where you will be like WTF is happening and then angels where you'll be ready to launch your kindle. I was at various stages in the book where I was ready to DNF. This was as far in as 80%. I just did not care anymore ..... So why invest the time into this whopper of a book to not see the end through ??? So I pushed on. I needed closure in some situations which thankfully I received and then luckily every dog in this book had it's day, again thankfully. Still I closed the book and was thinking if this and that and that changed then this book would have been shelved as a favorite. Again this is just my opinion. I am just one reader. The hero in this book was very memorable and he carried this journey. His HEA was what I committed to. Everything else ....... I'm purging from my memory bank or doing an anna-style fantasy mental re-write. Starting now.

When I rate a book highly, 4-5 stars, I don't always feel the need to review it at length or give reasons. It was hailed as wonderful with all the five star reviews. Even though I noticed a large number of those were Beta and ARC readers, I decided I liked the love triangle premise. At 25%, I was ready to text my fellow book club members to get on this book! It was an interesting premise, it flowed well with interesting characters and emotions. The author did a FAB job pacing the book and growing relationships of the three principles through junior high, high school, and college. The turning point for me was when Katy moved to SC. Spoiler Alert! But I don't think you will mind this book being spoiled.... Katy fled the twin brothers, Brooks and Branch she was in love with, and met Bobby in small town America. Bobby was a true friend to her and helped her through her heart break over the twins. He was patient and caring for her through her pregnancy from another man, even willingly marrying her so she could get added to his health insurance. He admitted his love for her and she was honest with him that she cared, but wasn't in love with him. Bobby did become abusive on a couple occasions and they separated. He entered counseling and still helped her, treating her child as his own. When he was injured, she moved him back in to help him out and they reconciled. All the while, Katy was still harboring emotions for another. She was so incredibly wishy washy I started to hate her. Long story short, she reaches back out to her true love and baby daddy, Brooks, through letters. She never tells him she is married to another, she never tells him about his kid. She never tells her husband she is doing this. Brooks letters stop and she assumes he has been killed in action as he was in the Army stationed in Afghanistan. She comes clean to her husband about her pen pal habits and he helps her through Brooks' death. She even goes so far at this point to promise Bobby she is over Brooks and in love with him and she wants to start trying for a baby with him! Brooks comes back from Afghanistan to finally be with her only to see her with Bobby and a toddler. He assumes she has moved on and realizes she lied in her letters about still loving him, so he walks away. She receives a delayed letter from Brooks in the mail that tells her he was only injured and shipping back to the states to a base very close to where she is, doing this in the hopes that they can reconcile. Katy immediately goes to see him at the base throwing herself at him and admitting she kept his kid from him. Brooks starts a relationship with his daughter that Bobby fully supports, even though it pains him to think of losing the child he accepted and treated as his own. Bobby is heartbroken, but leaves Katy and tells her to think about what she wants. If she is still in love with Brooks, as much as it would kill him, she should then be with him. Katy calls Bobby begging him to come home, professing her love for him alone. Stupid Bobby goes back. Her first time chaperoning a visitation between Brooks and their child ends with her kissing him and telling him he is the only one she ever loved, with poor Bobby waiting for his family at home alone! After overhearing Katy professing her feelings to Brooks, Bobby smacks her around a couple times and she has him arrested! What? This may be the only time I have ever cheered on a man hitting a woman. She was jerking him around so badly, yet we are supposed to feel bad for her? I wanted to beat her ass for the head job she was doing on Bobby. Now after this, Brooks saves the day whisking her and their baby away. The author really needs to clean this story up so she turns Bobby, who before was willing to let Katy go be with Brooks, into a crazed stalker. He attempts to kidnap Katy, and after a car accident he dies. She feels responsible and is sulking. Again. This book had so much potential, but about a third of the way through, I wanted to choke Katy! The book also became heavy with inner musings and monologues. I don't think I have ever experienced a more immature and selfish character as Katy Michaels. I awarded this book two stars instead of one, giving the author credit for the first quarter of the book. Avoid this book, don't believe the hype.

There aren’t enough words to explain how much I love Love’s Suicide. I’ve been a huge fan of Foor since her Mitchell Family series, and that craving for more of her books has never wavered. However, Love’s Suicide wasn't just another one of her books I adore... no… it was so much more. It had me falling in hardcore love all over again on her genius. It’s not easy for me to say this… but I really feel like this is her best work to date. (Please forgive me COLT MITCHELL!) I don’t say that lightly because her other books are still on my top reads list. There was just something about this book that touched me so deeply I felt every emotion she created. I loved, grieved, laughed, mourned, celebrated - - hands down FELT with each character to a point that it wasn’t healthy. LOL. Even the ones the characters that are so clearly created to NOT love, you find a way to … even if it’s just a little tiny smidgen. These weren’t just characters for me and it’s been a long time since I was able to feel so deeply for a cast that they became REAL. They are all so well developed that you get the feeling that you’re living this life right along side of them. It becomes something past fiction. Something bigger than just words on a page and with all honesty, it becomes something that you just know could really happen to someone. That feeling of reality is what pushes this past a 5 star book and on my list of 6 star reads. I don’t want to make this a review that details WHY I loved it so much. I feel like for Katy, Branch and Brooks… you need to go in blind. You need to feel what they feel to understand how powerful the emotions are that Foor is able to pull out of you. I challenge you to make it through this book without the need for some tissues too. ☺ I HIGHLY recommend everyone reads this book. Get lost in the Foor world because I know it’s a world I never want to leave. #FoorWhoreForLife

Review Well…. this was action packed story full of drama and angst – every page was another mess that Katy got herself into. Every time I thought the story was finally going to be full of love and romance – another glitch was thrown into those plans. I honestly have to say that Katy pissed me the hell off! Between making all the wrong choices – her whining and always putting her problems first without the consideration of how her actions would affect others – just rubbed me the wrong way. All of the drama that surrounded Katy was made by her own hand but then she had the audacity to cry and whine about it. It was Brooks that saved the book for me. The love that he had for Katy was beautiful and how many times did this boy constantly forgive her for past transgressions. How many times could this man be rejected – wanted – rejected – wanted etc etc?? I will tell you though – even with Katy getting me angry – I still had to turn the page to see what was going to happen next. My curiosity had me walking around with my phone in hand and head buried in the book waiting for Katy to redeem herself. Did she? I can’t give it away ---- you will have to find out for yourself. But please – make sure when you want to throw your tablet after Katy makes a stupid decision – it is against a soft surface! Re-Cap We follow Katy through her life starting out as a child along with her two best friends; Brooks and Branch, the twins who live next door. She loves them both but there is something special with Brooks that she feels. As they get older, Katy feels that Brooks isn’t interested but Branch shows her all the attention that he wants more to their relationship. Katy gives in to Branch which pushes Brooks further and further apart from her. She feels that she made the right choice especially with Branch constantly telling her that he is the right one for her and that Brooks left her to join the army. Just as Branch and Katy are about to get married, Brooks shows up at the rehearsal dinner and Katy is blown away with the feelings she still harbors for him. One night of passion between the two – breaks up a marriage and forces Katy to run. She hides out and starts a new life for herself, but then is met with another challenge – she is now pregnant with Brooks’ child. After a marriage of convenience with Bobby and continued secrecy about her baby girl “B” – Brooks comes storming back in her life. Wrap-Up If you love stories filled with drama, angst, heartbreak, abuse and much more…then you will love this story. We not only have a triangle….but we have a square with this bad boy!

This has to be hands down the BEST book she has written to date. And that is saying a lot since I love her Mitchell Series. Love's Suicide is so different from anything she has written before. It keeps you intrigued from the start all the way to the finish. I will say that this book is a twisted version of a Love Triangle, but it worked well for this story. Jenn truly knows how to pull out every emotion a person has while reading a book. I laughed, I cried, I swooned, I blushed, I got pissed, and I fell in love. The characters are so well developed that you truly feel like you are a part of their world. Now normally I like a book to be told in dual POV, but this one worked so much better coming from Katy's POV. Throughout this whole story I kept wondering how this book was going to turn out to have a HEA, because there were so many things that kept standing in Katy's way, but have no fear Jenn Foor did it. The way this story was wrapped up and concluded was amazing. What is revealed in the end was quite a shocker that I didn't see it coming, but I loved it and it totally summed everything thing up. The main characters of this book are Katy, Branch and Brooks. They have grown up together being neighbors and all 3 kids were close. As time moved on Katy was forced to choose which brother she wanted to be with, this choice would change her life. I am not going to tell you who she chose, you will need to read the book. But just because she did make a choice, things aren't always what they seem ;) I liked Katy…she wasn't an annoying, indecisive person. She went through something very tragic as a child, but she was still a strong person. All the decisions Katy made in this book, she felt were for the best for everyone involved. There was one decision I thought she was dumb to make, I realize she felt she had no other choice because she was alone, but I really wish she would've just stayed true to her feelings. As for Branch and Brooks…..They are identical twins, but couldn't be any more different when it came to their personalities. I will say that I really didn't like Branch from the beginning, it wasn't until the end that I started to warm up to him. We find out some shocking things about Branch along the way. Now as for Brooks…..I LOVED him!!!!! He was nothing short of AMAZING. This is one character you are going to want to experience for yourself. We are also introduced to quite a few side characters. Some I liked and some I hated. Each one of them held a special spot in this story. I don't want to say to much because I don't want to ruin this book for anyone. I know that this review is vague, but this is a book I really think everyone needs to go into blind. There were so many twists and turns you will be on the edge of your seat. Even though this was Jenn Foor's longest book to date, it moved along fairly quickly. To me this book was like crack….I couldn't get enough of it. As much as I wanted to get to the end to see how it all worked out, I didn't want the book to end. I would definitely recommend this book to everyone. This book had a little bit of everything so any reader would fall in love with it. If you are a Jenn Foor fan you CANNOT miss this book!!!!!

A man with an undying love, willing to sacrifice anything to be with her, waits for her to be ready. He has absolutely stolen a piece of my heart. The prologue in this story brings us back to a day that we all remember- a day we will NEVER forget. Katy has grown up next door to Branch and Brooks Valentine her entire life. Best friends from birth, they are all 3 inseperable. Their parents are best friends and when the unthinkable happens- Katy is left to move in with the Valentines to be raised as their own. The connection between Katy and Brooks and Katy and Branch is undeniable. Although she loves Branch, it's not the same magnetic pull she has to Brooks. Brooks will never admit his feelings to Katy and loses his shot with her pushing her straight into the arms of his brother. This story is a love triangle like none other. Katy must decide if she will take the safe route and marry Branch or tear apart the only family she has and follow her heart to be with Brooks not knowing if he even feels the same. With Brooks enlisting in the military- time is not on her side. SOOOO many spoilers that I can not talk about happen through out this story. The secrets and twists are continuous and I never saw *that HUGE spoiler* coming... The one that shakes Katy to her core giving her the reality check she needs to move on with her life. I wouldn't necessarily say it was the writing or the underlying storyline, but it was the most annoying female protagonist I have ever had the displeasure to meet. I have always either connected or not with a character; if not, then not really having much of an adverse opinion...it's not me...I'm not easily riled. But this chick just about had me shouting out loud, showing myself for the mad woman I was! Her whining, her bad decisions, her mind changing and continuous self deprecating internal monologue had me checking my % status. Even she knew she was a pain in the arse.. "I wondered if he was rolling his eyes at my latest attempts at feeling sorry for myself" I think the saving grace was Brooks..he was a loyal, sincere, romantic military hunk, and he carried the story for me...

Katy Michaels definitely has not been dealt a fair hand when it came to life. She lost her parents at a young age, fell in love with a set of handsome twins when she was young. Was unable to be with the one her heart really wanted and had to run away from everyone she loved when she felt she hurt them all and live on her own after being caught in bed the day of her wedding to avoid all the turmoil. Oh the pain never seems to end when it comes to poor Katy's life. She learns she's pregnant with her ex-fiance's brothers child but chooses not to tell him. Raises this child on her own, marries a man who seems to love her yet only has hidden issues of his own. Years later, Brooks Valentine is back in her life. Which her current husband does not accept well. The problems that are caused for Katy and the family are ones she doesn't expect to happen. Her love that she shares with Brooks has not ended and is stronger than it was years before. Bobby's drinking and abuse resumes and Brooks is not going to accept this for Katy or his daughter and will take them away from this life. Katy deserves her happy ever after. This book is another Best seller for Jennifer. This is a must read!! 5 STAR!!!!

I had the honor of beta reading this book and I have been blown away by it. Can I give it 10 stars. This book is one of the best I've read. It's so different from anything Jenn has done before. It has many twist and turns and will keep you on the edge of your seat waiting for what happens next. Brooks is a wonderfully written character that I fell in love with. It's a must read and one you will want to tell your from friends to get. Excellent job Jennifer Foor. I had the honor of beta reading this book and I have been blown away by it. 3.5 STARS I would have loved more from Brooks and Katy's childhood/adolescence. They spent so much time apart and I wanted to feel how strong their connection was without just hearing the words. Lots of story lines taking place...way too much drama dealt for one lifetime. I loved Brooks. Katy, not so much. I felt awful for her as a child losing both of her parents, but as an adult, she was too wishy washy and made so many poor decisions. She definitely needed a life coach... 2.5 stars. This book started out so good and I just knew I was going to love it, then it was just a train wreck. It's a shame because I really loved Brooks. The 2.5 stars were for him. If Katy flip-flopped any more, she'd be an Olympic gymnast. Ay caramba, this book was highly rated by friends, so when I realized early on that I wasn't enjoying the book, I thought it was me and not the book. The deeper that I got into the book, I knew that my displeasure was valid. I haven't seen a female flip-flop as much since Mary Lou Retton at the Olympics. Katy has spent much of her teen life living with her deceased parents' best friends. Katy decides that she is in love with her foster If Katy flip-flopped any more, she'd be an Olympic gymnast. Katy decides that she is in love with her foster brothers, and chooses one to be her love and future, while secretly desiring the other brother (this all took place while still in high school). So we witness her repeatedly proclaiming that she loves the one brother, Brooks, yet she says she is making the right decision of dating the other brother, Branch. They are all living in the same house, and no one seems to be bothered with the situation or that it's weird. Maybe I'm weird, especially when she unknowingly sleeps with the wrong brother twice. Brooks goes his own way after graduation, and Katy grieves after him in one breath, then in the next breath, she is relieved that she picked Branch. A few years pass, then on the night before her wedding night, Katy makes a big ole mistake. I don't want to give away any spoilers, but throughout the book, I read where Katy is so worried that she will make her family mad and she couldn't bear to lose them, so she hides from them. On one hand, she is in love with Brooks, but she won't have any contact with him, but she professes that she'll never love another man. She finds another man, Bobby, tells him that she'll never love him, but enters into a relationship. She says she knows that she'll never truly love Bobby, but then is determined to stay with him and make the relationship work, while secretly contacting Brooks. One day when she meets Brooks, that evening when Bobby finds out, she professes that she'll never leave Bobby for Brooks. By the end of the next day, she is back with Brooks. It's a reoccurring theme throughout the book. The citizens in Sumter,SC are written to look like backwoods hillbillies. When dealing with domestic abuse, the abuser's family and friends tell Katy that it's her fault. Throughout the story, Katy is stating that she doesn't deserve his abuse, but then in the next breath, she has caused the abuser to become violent. I could almost get her reaction if she grew up in this type of environment, but she didn't grow up around abuse. Katy recognized that the abuse was wrong in the beginning, but she stayed in the relationship because the hillbilly friends and neighbors that she has known for less than a year or two have convinced her that the abuser deserves a second, third, and fourth chance. I thought in the beginning that maybe the story was good, but the book and I just weren't compatible, but the more that I read, I realized that I was justified in being pissed at all the crap being said and then a sudden reversal in the next sentence. Katy did so many reversals and flip-flops that she should have been called Nadia Comaneci.

It's easy to say that he was one hell of an abusive monster and never is that ok! Was Katy to blame? Nope, victim... NEVER. Did her actions lead him towards looney~ville? I think so because I couldn't stand her myself! Even by the end I still couldn't. No common sense, she's a liar, a heart breaker, and selfish and I would smack her left and right if it were possible. I'm aware Brookes has his own story as well and never could I turn that down. I'd love more of him!

I am giving this book 3.99 stars.. It could have been a 4 star read for me, because I really did like the theme and the plot, but I found the delivery of this book a bit lacking and it could have been a 5 star if it had been done a bit better. The author of this story has a lot of books released, so I was a little confused how some of the grammatical errors existed, but I am not one who picks at that stuff.. I can look past it.. I have a hard time when I feel like the book dwells on certain point I am giving this book 3.99 stars.. The author of this story has a lot of books released, so I was a little confused how some of the grammatical errors existed, but I am not one who picks at that stuff.. I can look past it.. I have a hard time when I feel like the book dwells on certain points, or drags out parts in unnecessary areas. Take the introduction of Melissa, I felt the paragraph that introduced her was enough, she was a good friend, but then we had to know how they met and it felt odd the way that it was placed in there. I also felt at times that the writing seemed to be a bit rushed, and that someone much younger was doing the writing. The steam heated up towards the end, but the first half of the book felt very YA. Now that I got that out of the way. I loved the story.. I love a good love triangle.. I do.. I loved Brooks though right from the get go.. He was sexy even when he was a weird teenager playing video games and torturing Katy. Branch is who she dates growing up, after tragedy pretty much uproots her life, she decides that there is no reason for them not to be together, he is the twin that makes most sense.. right? The whole twist of the book is that she is VERY wrong. She ends up sleeping with the wrong brother as described in the description of the book on her wedding night, and runs from town and Branch and Brooks as well as their very loving family, because she feels that she followed her heart, but that in doing so she will be the cause of their family falling apart.. She ends up in a cozy little southern town and has every intention of starting her life over.. The only person she has any contact with is, her best friend Melissa, who she promises to contact once a month. She ends up pregnant and married to a man named Bobby.. I won't spoil that whole relationship, but I found him slightly sweet to begin with, and I wanted to like him, but like Katy I was still fiction crushing on Brooks, so it made it hard. Sarah was a woman she met and became a best friend for Katy while she was pregnant and just trying to move on with her life.. brooks comes back, again no need to spoil how or why that happens.. It just does, and from there the story really picks up and I really enjoyed it. I felt that them not being together was wrong, but I understood why everything was happeneing.. Everything needed to happen the way that it was. Life lessons do that to you.. I absolutely LOVED B, she is the sweetest little girl and Katy is such a good mom. It's nice to see that Katy even dealing with what she was, was a good mother and never let what she was put through get in the way of her doing her job as a parent. The ending was fast.. Or fast ish.. I felt that the Bobby thing ended where it needed to, but Brooks mother's confession really confused me and was a bit.. sad.. let me touch on Branch real quick. i thought he was a dick for what he did to Katy.. He lied to her for years, and i felt that him jumping into it with Melissa bothered me just a bit.. Melissa seemed to be a nice girl, and we were suppose to like her, but I felt that she was just looking for one of the boys to sleep with and she didn't care which one.. Branch's conversation with Katy near the end of the book was touching, and you could tell that he loved her, that it was all a competition in his eyes, but still the way that he did everything was just sad and wrong and caused a lot of people pain. I don't want to read a book about he and Melissa, so I hope the author doesn't lead with one.. But I would sure love more Brooks and Katy!!

I really want to gave this book a 4 star. The first few chapters showed some potential of being a really good story too (*sigh*), but it all started to go downhill when Katy ran away from Brooks. The story started out fine, really. It's like any other typical childhood friends turn lovers kind of story. Brooks being Katy's first kiss (*and vice versa*) to Brooks supporting Katy when her parents died....etc. But then when the time for Katy to finally choose one of the brothers, she chose Branch j I really want to gave this book a 4 star. It's like any other typical childhood friends turn lovers kind of story. Brooks being Katy's first kiss (*and vice versa*) to Brooks supporting Katy when her parents died....etc. But then when the time for Katy to finally choose one of the brothers, she chose Branch just because Brooks didn't ask her or tell her he loved her. I was confused initially, as to what changed Brooks, even I know Katy is meant to be with Brooks. It was explained later in the story, the excuse...was kinda unsatisfactory for me. (view spoiler)[Apparently, Brooks step aside for his brother because his brother told him Katy does not love him, when deep down in Brooks heart he knew Katy did love him. In my opinion, if Brooks love Katy so much, he should have fought for her and her him. (hide spoiler)] Skipping through all the rest to the part where she ran away from Brooks and her "family". That was when I started to hate Katy. She made so many stupid mistakes that she could never take back. (view spoiler)[First mistake, running away and not facing what she did. Second, found out she's pregnant and STILL did not think that she should contact Brooks. Further mistakes, met Bobby (*future abusive husband*) married him, reunited with Brooks, had sex with Brooks without getting a divorce first etc..... (hide spoiler)] It's like one mistake lead to another. She's just not the type of heroine I would love to read in a story. Don't get me started on Branch. He is just....an asshole. If he is a real person I would slap/punch him and knee him in the balls so hard that he wish he's dead. (view spoiler)[How could he separate Katy and Brooks just because he is jealous of Brooks being the special one for Katy? He never even act like a boyfriend, say mean things, LIED about SOOOO many things. And he still act like he is the one being wronged when Katy confronted him. The nerves...... (hide spoiler)] Finally, when I thought everything is gonna end happily ever after. Brooks' mom dropped another bomb. I'm like.....WTF, haven't they gone through enough. "What's next?" was what I thought. I really wish that was not part of the story because to me it felt a little unnecessary. (view spoiler)[ Probably because I never like cheaters. Danica had to go ahead and add the fact that she really do love Walt even though she got into an affair. I'm like...WHY? WTF? I almost gave up the book then but I just opt to skip to the epilogue and just read the happy ending. Thank god it finally ended. (hide spoiler)]

I loved his character! Brooks was in love with Katy from the time they were little kids and it just never went away. Everything he did he did because he thought it was what was best for her. All he ever wanted was for her to be safe and happy. Even if that meant sacrificing his own happiness! He let her be with Branch, his twin brother, because he thought that's what she wanted. When he came back from war and saw her with Bobby and B he left her alone because he thought she was happy. Unfortunately, for both of them, those two men ended being horrible mistakes, but eventually they found their way to each other. Katy made mistake after mistake, cried about 75% of the book and wallowed in self pity just as much if not more and Brooks was always there to pick her up no matter how much time had passed or what she did. He was always her protector, her savior.... Basically, Brooks not only saved Katy, he saved this book.

3.5 The first half of the book I really enjoyed. I loved the characters, the plot, loved that it had a nice slow build in the story. The second half fell flat for me. I felt it dragged quite a bit and the dialogue was somewhat cheesy at times.
