'Boys South of the Mason Dixon' is a series of short books featuring the loves and lives of the Sutton brothers... Asher – the eldest, the protective brother Bray – the moody, angry, dark horse Brent – Bray's twin, his total opposite Steel – all round good guy Dallas – the youngest at 17 years and the biggest, Momma's boy BLURB:Asher has been away at college for two years. When he left, he left Dixie his girlfriend, and she has no idea why. They had been the 'golden couple'. Asher was a Football star and loved by the girls of the town. Now he's back, his momma is ill and... Dixie's been dating Steel for 9 months. Asher has been suffering all these years, he's never truly stopped loving Dixie, he had to leave, he had to protect a secret, but he never thought Dixie would fall for his brother. - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - Well it just goes to show how much can be done with 80 pages. For such a short read I was sucked right in, dying to know the secret, eager to learn more about these intriguing young men. Though I really enjoyed it, there were a few things that made it less than perfect for me. I was a little confused whether Asher been away 2 or 3 years, at different times he was gone 2, other times 3. I didn't understand what made Dixie loveable, she is what what I like to call a 'blank canvas heroine'; acts as a normal woman would, but no defining personality. Like I said, I loved the brothers (my fave is Dallas at the moment), but I also really liked Dixie's Dad, Dixie's best friend Scarlet and the Sutton boys' mother. Though they weren't in it for long, they came across as good characters quickly. Was I happy with the end? Not totally. I hope that by the end of the series there will be more of a HEA for the main characters than that was given in this book. Loved the sneak peek of the next book, which features another love triangle with Scarlet, Dixie's wild best friend, looks like the series will get hot too!

Before taking my review to heart, Keep in mind, if you can't tell already, that I despise serials....they're IMO a sneaky way of tricking readers into spending more money, ....when I buy your book I want a whole damn story, not a little bit, then get a cliffhanger, just so I have to buy the next book. And the next one, and the next one......that's rings too much of calling a phone sex line or a psychic hotline....you get to a certain point, but oh no! If you want more, you gotta pay up! ( no offense to anyone who uses either, if they're your thing, enjoy:)) I don't call phone sex operators, I don't call psychics, and I sure as hell don't buy stories that aren't even fucking finished. If I had registered the episode one bit I'd have avoided this like the mother fucking plague.... So having said that.... There's way to much melodrama in this, and there's little to no buildup, we're just tossed into the deep end, with little to no preparation. Also, there's a trope I freaking hate (view spoiler)[ The H thinks he and the h are related. His solution? walk away after being her first. Oh and promising her forever. And he doesn't even bother to tell her why he's leaving and treats her like she no longer exits! or anything else for that matter...*sigh* spare me, from men ( and romance novel Heroes) who think lying and/or deceit is the way to protect their women Blech!! (hide spoiler)] . Also there's way too many characters, and too many pov's, the only sex scene was thrown in at the end, between characters that are the focus of the next book( and iirc, was supposed to come off as kinky/ bdsm-y, but for me anyway, fell short of the mark), and there's no resolution to any damn thing. (Which is why I stay the hell away from fucking serials! Grrr!) and the southern stereotype was a little over the top. So yeah, now that I know it's a serial I won't be reading any more. Maybe if I'd have been pulled in more, maybe if I'd actually liked any of the characters, I'd give the next one a go, ( but probably not, I really hate serials, dammit!) but this wasn't for me. To be fair, the writing itself, minus the typos, wasn't all bad. Had this been a full story, I wouldn't have hated it. Also if you're a fan of serials, you may like this, like i said, it just not my cuppa.

Yes, it's multiple. It's not only 2 people but 4. But mostly dual. HEA: (view spoiler)[No (hide spoiler)] MY REVIEW The Sutton Boys consist of 5 hot brothers who live in a small town of Malroy, Alabama. Meet the boys: Asher: the eldest, protective, a very good big brother. Bray: only a year younger than Asher. Moody, a loaded gun guy, rarely smile Brent: Bray's twin brother, totally opposite from Bray. Steel: all round good guy Dallas: the youngest, he adores Asher so much, Momma's boy. Asher is a very kind, protective, wise guy. He's a right figure for big brother, or Japanese usually say he is お兄ちゃんらしい. It's like he's born to be a good protector. Protecting people he loves is a natural thing for him. It's what he does to this girl, Dixie Monroe. He loves her so much and promised her forever. But then suddenly he leaves her alone without any words. He ignores her for 3 years and acts as if there's nothing happened between them in the past. And Dixie doesn't know the reason why he did it to her. Asher actually has reason for that. He wants to protect her. But he just can't explain it to her or to anyone else. Until he finds out that Steel, his little brother is dating her. Seriously this part was really making me curious I couldn't put it down until I figure the secret Asher keeps by himself. So when the secret revealed... (view spoiler)[3 years ago when Asher was still dating Dixie, he found the letters Dixie's mother sent to her father saying that Dixie is his daughter. Dixie's mom and Asher's dad had an affair when Asher's mom is pregnant with Steel. Asher didn't tell this secret to anyone. Because he didn't one anyone suffer, especially his mom and Dixie. So he thought the best thing he could do is leave her alone in order to protect her. (hide spoiler)] He wants Steel to know this secret too. So he told him but he should promise that they won't tell Dixie about that. But then Steel broke his promise. He told Dixie. But actually (view spoiler)[their mom and Dixie's father already knew about this affair. And Dixie is 100% her father's daughter, not Asher's father's. Apparently Dixie's mom is a mentally ill beautiful woman who uses her beautiful face to seduce men, including Asher's father. (hide spoiler)] Asher and Steel had a big fight when Steel broke his promise. But after another facts revealed Asher decided to give up on Dixie. He wants Steel who makes her happy, since he has proposed her too. If you read Abbi Glines' book, I think you actually will notice that this novella is written by her. Because the plot and writing style are so Abbi! Love story with complicated fucked-up family problems background.. This is short. I liked those boys. Especially Asher. Since I'm an oldest one, I've always wanted to have a big brother that can protect and love me the way Asher does What I don't like from this novella is, the story is not focus on 2 main characters (one hero and one heroine). The story between Asher, Dixie, and Steel is still hanging and there's another characters pop up.. And I don't like the girl.. Dixie has this redhead best friend, Scarlet. She's dating Brent but then she also fucks his twin brother, Bray just because she thinks Bray is more mysterious and it turn her on when he's talking dirty and controlling during sex. WHAT THE FUCK??! I HATE THAT BITCH SO MUCH! This is what I actually don't really like from Abbi's books.. Too many characters pop up in the middle of main story that make the story becomes too long and complicated, and end up with too many spin-offs, like Too Far series I know this novella is not a stand-alone story, but if I see from the teaser, the next episode would be focused on Bray and Brent's story, aka another brothers-love-triangle story. So what'd happen to Asher, Dixie and Steel then?! I actually prefer if this one is only focused on Asher, Dixie and Steel love triangle then the next episode is the twin's.. Because I might won't read the next episode since I hate the girl so much!! LOL I hate the unfaithful love!

There's a wide range of diversity in the personalities of the brothers that keeps things jumping. One thing stands strong: they love one another without question and are momma's boys. There's plenty of good old soap opera drama and lots and lots of hot, sizzling romance. Well-written and without a bunch of editing problems. The story stays true to southern roots and is a mixture of emotional angst and fun-to-read as well. The plot is nothing new and one that you've probably read more than once -- but it still comes across refreshingly well done.

Go ahead and try to dismiss their southern charm. You won't be able to! But my favorite character? The mother. She is a riot and I love her! She doesn't put up with shit, but best of all her boys respect her. She is awesome. This is a serial series, meaning the books are fairly short but will be released one after another. Think novella size, but doesn't read like a novella (which is a good thing). Never have read anything like this before, I quickly became intrigued and couldn't put it down. I absolutely loved southern dialect! It rang true and kept the story authentic. I had assumed each book would be about a different brother, but it's not. We follow the lives of each one through a different point of view for each chapter. But don't let that scare you a way! All the point of views work perfectly for this story and very easy to follow. I was pleasantly surprised considering the length of the book. Trust me! However, I will say one thing... YOU. WILL. WANT. MORE. I am dying for the next one to come out now! I have no idea which path these boys will take, but I do know one thing for sure- I can't wait to go with them!

I was concerned at first about paying $.99 every two weeks in order to complete the story, but was assured that the overall cost will be within the going e-book rates. Told in multiple POV’s, it’s a story about the Sutton brothers, who are the stereotypical corn fed country boys. Asher, who is the eldest of the boys, comes home unannounced to take care of some family concerns. Once he’s home, he finds out that he’s been out of the loop and discovers that another family member has to endure something that he tried his damndest to protect his family from. There is already betrayal in the mix, love that is forbidden, and the unfortunate expectation of future heartbreak. Since this is episode 1, the story leaves you hanging in all measures. Which is why I cannot wait until the 21st! Who knows, this may be a clever, refreshing way to read books – I’m hooked. It kind of reminds me of Fiction Press or fanfic stories that I read, but I’m not held to the mercy of when the author has finished another chapter to the story, this Author has set dates. Fun read!

2.5-3 This serial #1 frustrated me to the max. I did not feel invested in the characters even though there was great potential. Dixie annoyed me. I understand having to move on and wanting closure... But if you have that deep, heart devoting love you cannot just settle (especially if your feelings have not changed). "Bros before hoes"!!! Nope, not here. Every brother (literally blood related brother) for themselves. Just freakin' wrong. And not just one but multiple backstabbing and confusion. Well I love Abbi Glines so when I saw something was posted on her blog about this I had to read it. And man! The end is just....The story is intense right from the start. Asher and Dixie were meant to be together forever. Then one day, three years ago, Asher just stops talking to her all together. She doesn't know why, no one does, and he runs off. She has not really seen him since, though she has started dating his brother Steel. Steel has proposed, but Dixie hasn't given him an answer. Her heart still belongs to Asher is the problem. Now Asher is back. And he has to tell Steel what happened three years ago, what he learned, that made him break up with Dixie. The whole time it is just like what is it?!? I just...when you find out it is like okay well this is going to get resolved quickly. When it does it is just like why did Asher's mom never say anything? She suspected, but didn't think that the sudden shunning of Dixie by Asher, and Asher's subsequent hurt because of it, was worth even asking about? Really mom? Really? I just didn't get that. Then Steel...poor Steel. I didn't like the ending. I think Steel deserves way more, and has probably always deserved way more, than someone who tolerates him because he loves them. I mean how can he just sit by and try to marry a girl who obviously still has feeling for your brother? How is that supposed to work out? I hope this gets resolved in the next installments as...no one deserves to be second best. And Dixie deserves more also. She deserves to be with someone she truly loves with all her heart. I mean it is Steel's brother who hurt her so much. How is that going to work? How will seeing him at family events and stuff ever be okay. At least she should talk to Asher since everything came out. I don't understand Asher's reasoning for not going for what he wants, who he wants, when he knows she wants him too. Dixie needs to at least talk to him before she should try and move on. So frustrating the ending, but I still loved it and can't wait to read more. This review was originally posted to Jen in Bookland

HOLY SHIT. That was pretty much the only thing I said throughout this episode, but the thing is, I don't really cuss. I'm able to keep my cool with most books I read but holy shit I couldn't with this. I don't think you understand, this books took off my training wheels, and I was all over the place with this book. AND I FREAKING LOVED IT. This is NOT your typical book. The way it's set up is unique. It's a lot like fanfic. Instead of chapters it's episodes that come out, I want to say, every two HOLY SHIT. Instead of chapters it's episodes that come out, I want to say, every two weeks (I need that week here.. and when I say NEED I mean it with a passion). I felt like I was watching one of my novelas (Spanish soap operas). And, just between you and me, I get really crazy about my novelas. And now we move on... This whole world is amazing. If you've read Abbi Glines' books before, be prepared for something totally different but nonetheless just as fantastic. The setting is southern, and you feel the southerness (if that's a word) of this world. And holy fudge is it intriguing. There is no build up to the story; you aren't eased into the story; you are tossed into this world and you can't leave. I really don't want to get into too much detail of this episode because you really have to read it yourself and make your own conclusions. Just now that this episode is DRAMATIC, HOT, SEXY, PAINFUL, ENJOYABLE, and FUN. It'll have your heart pumping for so many different reasons. It's the wildest roller coaster you'll ever get on, and you're never going to want to get off. I can't tell you enough... read the episode (click here for episode) and PLEASE talk to me, I need someone to vent to.

Oh, boy. As soon as I knew that Effy Vaughn was actually Abbi Glines using a different name to write this story, not to mention she let us read it for FREE, I grabbed and started reading it immediately. And boy, her writing style was so addictive. It was easy to read and the storyline always captured me. I was dying to know what was the reason Asher left Dixie. As soon as Asher hinted it, I had a feeling and I guessed it right. Though, I didn't panic. I assumed that Dixie's mother had a miscarria Oh, boy. As soon as Asher hinted it, I had a feeling and I guessed it right. Though, I didn't panic. I assumed that Dixie's mother had a miscarriage and Dixie wasn't their sister. (It wasn't the first time I came across this plot.) I was with Steel that Dixie deserved to know. Protecting her from knowing wasn't a long shot. She was going to find out someday. And it would hit her harder. One thing didn't add up was why Asher's father kept the letters. If he was truly sorry and loved their mother the right thing to do is destroy them. Not hide them in a house where there were five boys living in it. They were bound to be found someday. Another thing I didn't like was Bray and Scar. I don't like cheating storyline. I didn't like the way Bray treated Scar. And the way she accepted it was even worse. Even knowing all the truth Dixie decided to be with Steel again but it was just because he was a safe net and that she thought Asher didn't want her anymore. So as much as I say that I didn't like it, I need to know how Dixie is going to be with Asher because I know she would. Abbi always gave us a happy ending and she knows which pair her reader love to end up together. Thank you Abbi Glines for letting we read it for free.

This is the 3rd serial I have read this past week and this by far was my favourite, hands down. A new episode will be released every few weeks and will focus on each of the Sutton Brothers. You will meet the twins Bray & Brent, Steel and the youngest brother Dallas. Each instalment will centre around them individually but all of the stories will be intertwined into each others lives. Why did I love this? It was different from anything I have read in a while and had me right from the first few pag This is the 3rd serial I have read this past week and this by far was my favourite, hands down. It was different from anything I have read in a while and had me right from the first few pages. Dixie lives next door to the Sutton farm and was high school sweethearts with Asher Sutton. One day he up and left town with no explanation or goodbye and completely broke her heart. Three years later and she is now dating Steel Sutton, Asher's younger brother. When Asher returns home to help out on the family farm he is gutted to find out about Dixie & Steel. He reveals to Steel the secret reason he left town and devastated Dixie. A secret that will tear the whole family apart. There is a lot of sexy Southern charm and freaking hot gorgeous boys - what more could you wish for? I'm really looking forward to reading more and feeding my desire to know more about these brothers :-) Reviewer at Reality Bites! Free http://www.abbiglines.com/2014/06/eff... Effy Vaughn is a pen name for Abbi Glines. Its hard to form an attachment when you are dropped into the middle of a storyline. A very...different storyline. I knew this would be short as its a novella but it's not a complete story. More like several different points of view in a section of a story. I didn't feel like Asher's viewpoint was the predominant storyline. Which leads me to the storyline. Asher finds out something 3 years ago that causes him to walk away from the love of his life, Dixie. The crappy thing is he never tells her what caused him to run away. (And I'm not going to either because that will spoil the WTF moment you have when you read this.) Asher finds out his brother Steel is now dating Dixie. So he tells Steel the truth. And then he has the nerve to tell his brother that he must be the one to tell Dixie the truth. When Steel finally does tell the truth to Dixie Asher punches him in the face.

OMG. I am in love. I literally just finished ASHER a few minutes ago and couldn't wait to write a review for it! I think I'm in love.......with 5 Southern Boys. Is that even possible in real life? Well, all that matters is that its possible in ASHER. Effy Vaughn, why have you kept these boys all to yourself?! Every book ("episode") in the Boys South of the Mason Dixie Series will be released every 3 weeks. This series is special because Effy doesn't only focus on one brother's story, you get to OMG. They are all very family oriented and they are unreservedly good with with their mouths, in more ways than one. They are so lovable and completely real and I was left yearning for so much more of their stories! I can't say much without giving away the plot, but you should honestly read it! I congratulate Effy Vaughn for her new series and can't wait to read more of the Sutton Brothers!

*sighs* I just looooove doing this to myself and I don't know why. I know I hate serials and episodes and I really did try to stay away from this... But... The synopsis. The cover. I just had to try. I'm glad there's at least some content to it. It was good... I liked it. It just ended so unresolved (thought it was one serial per bro) and in such a random, abrupt manner. I mean, I guess to what the author is doing by not resolving all the issues. How the outline of the whole plot needs to be divi *sighs* I just looooove doing this to myself and I don't know why. And for a short serial, there was at least a good amount of content packed into it - some scenes that were worth reading. Some serials ... You have quite a while to go before getting to some good scenes >_< not here, thank goodness. I liked what I got but .... Why not turn it into a full novel? Series? :0(

These Sutton brothers are panty-dropping fun and this series is so full of drama and angst that it makes for a truly compelling read. Every novella leaves you wanting more, and Abbi leaves us with some serious cliffhangers that had me on the verge of shouting "No" and/or a string of curse words out loud (I seriously had to fight that impulse, as I was sitting on a public metro while reading them). Why she ever doubted that we wouldn't love this story I don't know. All I can say is that if she wrote a phone book, I would gladly pre-order it, wait for it (im)patiently, and devour it, just like I do with anything she chooses to publish. This is definitely a must read series for fans of Abbi and the New Adult genre. It will leave you hot and bothered, tied up in knots, and begging for more.
