Fun little book that gives more explanation for the people that have not read the books and watched the movies (I have read them, but it's still fun) Fun little book that gives more explanation for the people that have not read the books and watched the movies (I have read them, but it's still fun)

This was actually a lot better than I was expecting it to be. It gives you a brief look into the history of all the different types of people and creatures who live in Middle-Earth, along with the places. Having not read the books, only seen the movies countless times, this book taught me a lot about The Fellowship of the Ring, and I really want to read the sequels Companions now!

A brief but adept insight into the various characters, places and events that occurred at the start of the Fellowship. Quite enjoyed it.

The lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring is about Bilbo a hobbit has to give the ring of power to Frodo Bilbo's son. Frodo has to destroy the ring with the help of Sam. The Lord of the Rings is one of my favorite franchises ever. The book is much more elaborated then the movie. The begging of the book was a little slow but after that the book becomes a lot better. The book becomes really intense in the middle and endish. Since i am a visual person i didn't think the book will be as good as the movie but i was wrong mostly. The book also wasn't as bad when it comes to time. The book went by pretty fast for a thick book. The book was great and full of action when you read enough of it. The book is great but has a few flaws. One of them is that the book is really slow at first. The book mostly talks about a party Bilbo sets up at the start. But it gets better the more you read.

I loved learning about the characters. My favorite character was Aragorn son of Arathorn.

The fellowship of the rings starts on Bilbo's eleventy first as he calls it or 111, birthday. He throws a huge party because not only was it his 111 birthday it was also his air Frodo's 33rd birthday when he would be coming of age. After Bilbo mysteriously disappears and leaves Frodo his home all full of furniture and things along with his most precious a golden ring with mysterious power. Gandalf the gray came and told Frodo the story of the ring and shows him the ancient inscription: One Ring The fellowship of the rings starts on Bilbo's eleventy first as he calls it or 111, birthday. Gandalf the gray came and told Frodo the story of the ring and shows him the ancient inscription: One Ring to rule them all, One Ring to find them, One Ring to rule them all and in the darkness bind them. Then Gandalf leaves for many years and only returns once he knows more, and Frodo sets off on his adventure. The main character in this book is Frodo Baggins. At the first he is a little over weight (as most hobbits are) and has never gone on any adventures or really missed a meal. All of the folks in the shire are amazed that at 50 he is still as young and lively as he was when he came of age at 33. Then he sets off with faithful Samwise Gamgee, and without his consent Peregrin Took and Meriadoc Brandybuck. As all of these hobbits go they all become thinner and wiser for it all. Frodo is in constant danger, and by the time this book is over h eis starting to feel the true burden of bearing the ring. I really enjoyed this book. This book was a great mixture of action and rest. Once you get into the old english feel of it it is a ton of fun to read! There was a few boring parts but if you stick out long enough then you can get to the really good and fun parts. Reading this book is time consuming but that can be a very good thing. It keeps you occupied and you can stay up late and not worrie too much about nightmares. I am so glad I read this book and can't wait to read the next!

This book is a good companion to the film. Large format pages allow the reader to linger on masterful photographs from the film, chosen carefully to show details one would otherwise miss in the original medium. And perusing the images for details of set, prop, and costume gives the reader many opportunities to appreciate the the substantial quality and care given in these films, as well as their needle sharp accuracy to the original source. Very good.

I found this book to be a fun and enjoyable companion to the first Lord of the Rings movie, The Fellowship of the Ring. It covers the history of the rings of power and the war against Sauron in the Second Age that was fought with a last alliance of elves and men. There is a section that describes each of the free peoples of Middle Earth: hobbits, men, elves, and dwarves. The book ends with a section on the dark powers of Middle Earth, which includes orcs, uruk-hai, and the dreaded Nazgul. The book is interspersed with enjoyable quotes from Tolkien's book that inspired the film adaptation. My favorite part of the whole book was Bag End. I would really love to live in such a warm, snug, and cozy hobbit hole in the Shire! Definitely a fun read that I would recommend for anyone who loves Lord of the Rings!

I didn't have nearly enough time with this wonderful book, but I had just enough to look over all the pictures. I enjoyed them! Though they should have included more of Aragorn (you always need more Aragorn) and more of the Mines of Moria (one of the coolest things in the whole trilogy) it had some nice pictures. Looked like it also had a sketch of each character, and was overall good. Worth $25? No. But I might pay $5 for it. (Note: I do my best to save money at all times. The first chapter totally got me into the book! so far it's about Bilbo Baggins and about him not liking the Bagginsies because they where rude and such, but his favorite(his nephew) Frodo Banggins loved to talk about Bilbo's travels, and all of his adventures. Frodo was soon going to become an Adult witch you become around 30? Bilbo Baggins is really rich and wealthy and well known in Shire, also throwing his "eleventy first" birthday! i cant wait to read on! This is a useful and enjoyable book because it provides illuminating descriptions of the places, people and creatures inhabiting Middle Earth. It does a great job of clearly explaining the history and status of all the main groups, with a special focus on each of the main characters. This is an excellent companion to the movies and the novels and features a fold-out map of Middle Earth. The book is suitable for older children up through adults.

The text is simple and offers no insights beyond what we can see in the movie, at best. Photo spreads aren't particularly spectacular and many of the photos seem to be taken halfheartedly - very few outstanding ones that apply the principles of photography effectively. Would make a good gift for young children as an introduction to LOTR, I suppose. The text is simple and offers no insights beyond what we can see in the movie, at best. Didn't take long to read, gives great insight into the some of the characters in LOR as well as the history of middle earth and the places Tolkien created. Great for those who want a taster of the book or those who love LOR. Also good to see how someone else imagined what LOL characters looked like and the places therein. Nice light read. Interesting overview of a number of characters and places in The Fellowship of the Ring. Definitely learnt some new stuff, and the photos are pretty cool. It's a visual companion and that's all that it is. It's photos from the movies with some explanations about each race and the characters. Some places too. That's all that a visual companion is, the photos were nice, the texts were true but sometimes repetitive. It's a visual companion and that's all that it is. A quick, photo-filled intro to the first film; although it succeeds as a lush visual companion, it lacks structure and ends as suddenly as it begins.
