I appreciate the consistency as it adds to the upbeat aspects of the novel. I enjoyed how the mystery was worked into the novel, without interrupting the flow of this novel. And this novel did have a definite flow and progression from beginning to end. The mystery also worked in tandem with the romantic aspects of the novel, neither overpowering the other. The characters themselves were quite well developed and absolutely adorable. I enjoyed the fact that each character was an individuals and each had real life issues that they were dealing with. The friendship and camaraderie between the characters was also very natural and apparent. I must say that I would have liked a bit more family history about some of the characters. It would have helped to round out the story a bit more since family connections were talked of so much throughout. This novel is so different from anything that I’ve ever read and I thoroughly appreciate that fact. It was such a warm, fuzzy, fun type of story and I was thoroughly immersed in it by the ending. I definitely wanted to keep reading after the last page. Please note that I received this book from the author in exchange for an honest review.

I was a little disappointed that there was not enough romance in the book, despite there being ample opportunity between the four couples. There are also a witch and a fairy who were main characters... their ‘powers’ were mentioned, but did not contribute much to the story line, and could have been expanded in much more detail. I am hoping that there are more books in the series that can explain why they were mentioned but not expanded on. I also felt as though the book was a little rushed at the end. But all in all it was an enjoyable read, and a great book. Well done

Andrea (Andi) Morgan flew to Germany from Atlanta after her personal life fell apart, to be with her aunt Susi, and pursue her real passion, as a paranormal romance writer. And what better place to stimulate and inspire the writing process, but to live in Germany with the scenic setting and haunted castles, and old folklore, to inspire her to write another novel. After touring the Heidelberg castle, Andi was told of a legend about the cursed mason, who is still haunting the castle. The tour guide speaks of a mason who was innocently accused of theft, thrown in prison, and then cursed by a witch. The mason is still believed to haunt the castle, still looking for the princess' jewelry box and the heirloom ring. Then at a Halloween ball set at the Heidelberg castle, everything changes, and Andi is right in the middle of it. Is it possible to fall in love with a spirit? A very entertaining adventure story, a supernatural romance that is sure to please. Sit back and enjoy.

I would have liked a longer story with the 'real' characters fleshed out a bit and maybe a little more alone time for Andi and Volker to fall in love, more conversation to reveal more of themselves to each other and the reader. Still, I enjoyed the story and applaud it as a first novel. I wouldn't mind reading Ms. Cochran's second.

Heidelberg being one of my favorite cities in Europe, I knew I had to read this story. It did not disappoint. A very light and amusing read. The prequel focused on Peter and Belinda however this story is about Volker and Andi. A ghost and the girl who falls in love with him. How that is possible is truly where the fun in this story lies. An interesting batch of characters that introduce you to this folklore/fairy tale type of love story. The kind that seems impossible unless you believe. It's a fun, light and engaging read which was helped along by a good set of characters and a love story which was just a little out of the normal - it was also nice to have a book set somewhere other than the USA!! I'd certainly recommend this book and I will definitely read the rest of the series as they are published. I just finished this book and it was great! I love the scenery description and also the fun banter between Volker and Andi and her friends . I did get a little worried toward the end when the curse was ended and Volker didn't come back but there was a nice twist and had a happy ending. I had trouble with this book. The story was light and shallow, no depth. The women could have been interchangeable. If they didn't indicate who was speaking it could have been anyone. There were multiple viewpoints but again no depth. They didn't show things, they told things. And one thing they didn't tell was anything about Andi's family background. It alludes to a father who had to return to the US for tour duty and they stayed there, yet Andi refers to being German and coming home. No mentio I had trouble with this book. The ghost story was light fluff. Sorry this just need to be completely edited to fill in the holes.

Haunted Castles This is a lovely paranormal romance of the ghostie kind. Andi leaves the U.S. to return home to Germany after her jerk boyfriend dumps her. She moves in with her aunt who is five years older than her and on Halloween they attend a party at the local castle. Is there a ghost haunting the castle? Read if you love curses, prophesies, fated love, old world castles, and the paranormal. This is a wonderful romance!

Cute I choose four stars and not five due to the ending. But that just my taste, when I read a fiction I look for the kind of "typical" ending I guess. All in all it was a cute story. Teenagers would be ok with reading this, romance is very tactful and there are no steamy scenes or blush scenes. Cute I choose four stars and not five due to the ending. The author develops the beggininig of the story with great detail, and an even pace but the ending was too fast and I felt rushed to the end. I met different characters that were very different from each other and I noticed their individuality, there were some already built relationships, and some new ones were created through the story, I think that there were some details and distinction of the romantic couples in the story, the relationships lacked of romance and passion, I believed that those characters had been hurt in the past and rush to start a relationship way too fast. Andy and Volker, even thought they were destined to fall in love, I think that she was too quick to open up to a person that she could not even touch, there was a physical attraction between them, and some teasing to each other, perhaps there should have maybe been a litle more of connection. The romance between Susi and Ralft was non-existent, there was a date or get-together but after that no much, then the story was more focused on Shai and Mandy than Susi and Ralft's. Pete and Belinda's story was too quick and short and I felt like I just got a glance of their romance. I really liked the story, maybe it was too short or the author intentionally is trying to leave it for a second book, hopefully, Markus is still around and Fred, even thought I really did not like him at the beggining, he changed my mind at the very end!!!

Peter is an anthropologist whose specialty is debunking sightings of mythical creatures. His wife, Belinda, and he, make friends with Andi, an author, and her aunt, Susi, when they ask him to help them investigate an age old legend for Andi's next book. Finding a ring the night of the annual Halloween ball that's held at the Heidelberg castle, Andi embarks on a quest to reunite the ring with the box it was stolen from. With a group of supportive, but quirky friends, and a ghost that's attached to the ring, she throws herself into solving the mystery. The action intensifies once Andi realizes she's in love with the ghost, and finds out there's a possibility of bringing her ghost back to life. Mixing a bit of fairy tale with a smidgen of legend, Nickie Cochran weaves a charming, romantic ghost story that's filled with history and intrigue. Unexpected twists and turns will keep you on your toes and the satisfying ending will having you wishing you hadn't read it so you could start all over again.

I received this in a goodreads giveaway which was nice. While the plot was a cute idea for a romance and for bringing in the ghost angle, it didn't really work for me. The novel did not seem to take off for quite awhile. I didn't like the gullibility and implausibility of some of the characters and their situations. As far as developing the typical romantic tension that makes these kind of reads interesting, it was nonexistent. However, some people might enjoy such a simple read. Think ghosts floating around in a German castle creating havoc. A fun paranormal love story that'll make you smile. Charming characters you can't help but to fall in love with. If you like authors like Cindy Miles or Lynn Kurland, this novel is for you. This is the first book of the Haunted Love series. Easy read.
