Vastly inferior to the previous books, both in the trilogy and in the entire series.

And who locked Nancy and her friends in a freezer and put a snake in Nancy's kayak? A nice diversion and a good way to round out the series.

Easy read. Not as bad as book 2 in this trilogy but the unfortunate Kardashian knock-offs are back for some reason. The mystery isn't terrible although the mystery man can be and is the only person possible so that was a downer. Also, who is Scott? George disappears to take him to the dentist after he cracks his tooth on a popcorn kernel. I do like that Nancy doesn't hog all the glory in these novels. Bess and George are equal to her. Still, not great not bad. I'm yet to read a ND that I've loved.

Even though this was still way too modern for my taste (Nancy Drew should not have a cell phone and Wifi and know the "Kardashians"!) this was probably my favorite one in the series so far. Unfortunately, looks like this is the last book in the Girl Detective series. Hopefully I can track some earlier ones down, as I do really like this spinoff. This was the worst of the three books. This issue had the most grammatical errors. The story started out slow compared to the others and didn’t pick up where the other left off despite the huge cliffhanger. Questions were left unanswered and people didn’t seem to be in character.

Book 3 in the Malibu Mayhem trilogy, part of the updated Nancy Drew series. While the characters and setting of the original and beloved Nancy Drew remain the same, the series has been rebooted with updated technology, slang, and media (Nancy drives a hybrid, for instance). It is an odd mix of old fashioned, small town values and present day reality TV obsession and it simply doesn't work. The many things that made the original Nancy unique and delightful are gone and what is left is a one dimensional character and an unbelievable and uninteresting mystery to solve. Nancy, Bess, and George are trying to figure out what is going on with the mysterious leader of Camp Athena and why the mean girls at camp are getting away with everything. To complicate things, the famous reality TV sisters Mandy, Mallory, and Mia Casabian are in town and making things worse. Unimaginative and predictable, the original series and other, present day, non-Nancy Drew mysteries aimed at kids are much, much better.

In River-Heights, Nancy drew wants to find out who is behind the mystery of the missing Casabian sister from the Malibu reality show, but when the camp is turned upside down by midnight phone calls and other mysterious behavior Nancy isn't sure if it's too late. So, she and her friends decide to investigate the camp in person and then someone, you would have never expected, is found out for kidnapping one of the Casabians.
