The year I was born was the same year Harry Potter & the Philosophers stone was published. This has always been something that makes me smile because I have not existed on an Earth sans Harry- and that’s exactly how I like it. I’ve read the series over ten times and it is and always will be a series that has defined and changed my life in many ways. Not only am I a fan of Harry, but I have always devoured anything this magical author pens. These factors considered, I was totally excited to get into this when I found it at my library. However, it’s quite unfortunate that the author seems to be lacking some basic writing skills and readers were made to suffer through paragraphs of almost word for word repetition, off topic descriptions, and poor writing in general. I carried on and didn’t let these things faze me because it was J I was here for. In the end, I can say I enjoyed it because I did learn some things I didn’t previously know about our favorite English Witch. Another downside is this bio only goes to 2001- a time when the last three HP books were not yet published. I am interested in searching further for a better bio that extends to our present day and covers her penmanship as Galbraith.

It is interesting to read that our role models make mistakes and have struggles too. I also liked how the timeline went from being born to present. I liked learning where and how one of my favorite authors grew up. It is a little slow in the middle, however. I wish it had told us about the publishing process in more detail. Also, it kind of gets a bit boring, but otherwise, I enjoyed it.

I really enjoyed it! It was really interesting, it gives you a different point of view in Harry Potter and also of a different time. Since it's from 2002 you can read about what the Potter phenomenon was like when it was truly happening. I also loved reading about her life and what Harry meant to her when her life was crambling. I totally recommend! I really enjoyed it! It was really interesting, it gives you a different point of view in Harry Potter and also of a different time. ¡Ah! This is still the best of the myriad Rowling biographies, even though by now it is widely outdated. It is well-researched, nuanced and well-written too. There are some repetitions, but overall this is very readable still. Most of the other biographies are either straight hagiography or sensationalist bullshit. Maybe Rowling is still too young a writer to have a really good biography written about her.

THis is the best biography for the Harry Potter author that I have seen. It provided lots of information about Jo's life while keeping the story interesting. Very good, thorough bio of Rowling, rags to riches story, it took a long time to read as the print was very small (8 or 9 point.)

This book showed that there was a different side to the multi-millionaire author. Who would've known. Connie Ann Kirk is referenced in my book. This book showed that there was a different side to the multi-millionaire author. Who would've known. Connie Ann Kirk is referenced in my book.
