The Trojan Horse: The Fall of Troy was a good book. It showed the reason why the battle for 10 years started and also why Troy was defeated. The war started because of Queen Helen of Sparta was taken from her husband by the Trojan prince Paris. So the king of Sparta wanted to send his brother Agamemnon to retrieve her, he was joined by Achilles, Odysseus, Nestor, and Ajax and they all went to go look for her with more than a thousand ships. In the end when the Greeks were crossing the ocean Poseidon cursed them and they didn't get there until a few years later

While the illustration in this book was fairly good, the dialogue was pretty plain. There was a lot of telling versus showing. If it hadn’t have been a read for my push to finish my 2020 reading challenge, I would regret reading it. One saving point: I learned more about the context of the Trojan horse story.

These graphic novels remind me of the Classics Illustrated of my childhood. Good introduction to a classic story.

Tried to be too funny throughout with dorky comic relief that made the story too whimsical.

This is a perfect book for teachers to use during any Greek mythology unit. It starts from the beginning detailing everyone that will play a part in the book and goes into detail about how Paris will bring down the empire as he chooses Aphrodite to be the most beautiful woman and later sees Helen of Troy and makes Aphrodite even angrier saying that she is the most beautiful now. Pitting the two brother's army's at war when he wooed Helen to be with him starts the war that ends with the Trojans believing this massive wooden horse is a statue bestowed upon them by Athena for their spirit in the wars, but it ends up being packed full of soldiers from the opposing side ready to strike once the word came. Once the towers of Troy fell Helen was reunited with her husband Menelaus and as they rowed home they came to find out they angered Poseidon and he will take his wrath out on them in another story. It's great to see a story as it was intentionally written and not what Hollywood would like us to think a better story line for them. Great details but a bit long for the younger crowd but still a great book for kids to see pictures of everything and follow along to great folk stories and myths.

The myth of the Trojan Horse is one of the best myths and an integral part of the epic poem “The Iliad.” There seems little doubt that there was a lengthy war between Greece and Troy that took place around 1200 B. Whatever actually happened, some of it was preserved in the poem “The Iliad” that was verbally passed from generation to generation before it was finally put down on parchment. It is a true classic of Western Civilization that all educated people should be familiar with. While this graphic novel gives some historical context for the war as well as the system of gods worshipped by the Greeks, the emphasis is on the myth of the wooden horse and the role it supposedly played in the defeat of Troy. It is a compact and entertaining introduction to one of the foundation stories of the western world. I have long been a proponent of using educational content in whatever form it exists, including graphic novels and comic books. This short book is an excellent way to introduce young students to one of few myths that may have some factual justification as well as what may have been one of the first great wars in the western world.

It was a great overview of the Trojan War, though brief, from beginning to end. The artwork was great and suited the subject matter. All in all it was a great, and as said brief, overview of the war itself with some extra focus and the end result with the Trojan Horse.

After reading this I realized why know one really knows much about the story of Troy. The whole thing STINKS. Okay, so it's mildly interesting, but there is no clear good guy or bad guy, lots of people die for no very good reason, weird stuff happens that doesn't make much sense. I guess this could be an illustration of the stupidity of war. This comic is a little graphic for young readers. After reading this I realized why know one really knows much about the story of Troy.
