The attraction is electric and instant. Where Nash is confident and ruthless as the hero-in-pursuit, Iris suffers from poor self-image from failed relationships and a painful incident as a teen. The upside is some of the pleasant surprises formed from their characterizations and mutual values. Pros: Both Iris and Nash are hard-workers who value family and love their careers. They are intense and passionate about their causes. Each one has suffered loss. Nash came from a loving two parent home. Iris ended up in foster care with a wonderful foster mother. This lends credibility to their relationship and the bond they form with their mutual goal to save Nash's niece, Tania, from a bit of trouble she's gotten herself into. They are surrounded by loyal friends, relatives, and supporters. In the midst of their set-backs there is always someone offering the 'voice or reason', experience, and wisdom. I appreciate they were both willing to listen. Mostly. Once Iris and Nash come together intimately it is explosive, sexy and romantic. There is a deep connection. Nash is a male who is sheer alpha and knows what he wants. He makes up his mind and adheres to it. Never leads Iris on, doesn't manipulate or tear her down. When he makes mistakes, he is quick to rectify the matter, take accountability and humble himself. Nash is no cheater, so when the OW keeps coming at him hard and relentless, he handles it like a gentleman and then the alpha male that he certainly is to the max. The best part is you gain an authentic sense of the characters without stereotyping and just enough flavor from their respective backgrounds. For instance, Nash was from Compton, and although he is polished and affluent, there is an urban edge that comes across in his assertiveness and confidence. He is a genuine article without being a caricature. I love the physical descriptions. There is a load of diversity and variety. Iris has deep tone rich skin and wears her hair natural and curly. Nash has honey-toned skin and hazel eyes, and his niece resembles him. Iris' close friend and co-worker, Noelle, is a stunning blonde beauty. Cons: Iris is downright annoying in her insecurity. I was frustrated at how she made the best of losing her mother so tragically. She was a positive force in that way. Yet she could not get past an embarrassing moment as a teen? The loss of her mother was far more difficult I would say. Lastly, why is there no mention of a father in Iris's life? If there was I don't recall it while reading this book. It was dismissed, or glossed over. Also, the author discredits her work and Iris by using colorism as an explanation for Iris' hang-ups. This is a sad excuse that needs to be chucked out of writings featuring women of color. Everyone goes on and on about how lovely she is and yet, she is insecure about her dark complexion? Comparing her skin tone and body type to fairer and thinner women Nash dated? Iris is described as fit and wearing a size 8. That is hardly full-sized. If she is fit that is her actual size and ideal because she is tall. I guess the women Nash dated were size 0 and less than 50 kilos. Iris loves that Nash is one of the few men who towers over her. I much prefer the insecurity about her height which is a problem teen girls sometimes experience. The author could also have used acne as a problem with her complexion. Lastly, Iris' inability to trust Nash when he proved himself time and time again became a broken record. She really got on my nerves and I found myself almost hoping that Nash would get fed up and leave. Although Iris's adoptive sisters, Janna and Macy, are in the story and actively involved with her, I was disappointed that she didn't spend time outside of work with Noelle. The author stated they were close so why wasn't Noelle in the picture more unless it was work related? That didn't feel real at all. Next, the old tired trope with the crazy stalker OW. The fact that this OW fit the 'ideal' of so-called beauty didn't fly with me at all. I got sick of her coming back and showing up to run her mouth. She does get her just deserts but Iris is a door mat. In another scene, a woman at the youth center where Iris volunteers, blatantly disrespects her by asking Nash out in front of her. I wanted Iris to have a chance to assert herself though I did appreciate how it was handled. Mostly I liked this book despite the predictable twists and the tropes. Nash and Tania were my favorite characters overall. I also enjoyed Nigel, Nash's best friend who added extra flavor to the story because he is happily married and in love with his wife. It was a pleasure reading this. What I enjoyed most was reading a novel by an author I was unfamiliar with.

This story was a nice read, the chemistry between Nash and Iris was obvious from the first time they met it was nice to see how the came together and made a family. This was a great story line and Sharon Cooper delivered it perfectly. There was a few issues with the story, like Iris and all her insecurities were trying to irritate me but I like how the love they had for each other couldn't keep them apart for long. That Eve was a crazy little something but she kept the story interesting. This was a great story line and Sharon Cooper delivered it perfectly. I'm on a mission to find at least FIVE consistent Black authors who release well written books about Black love and Black excellence...So far that number is at One, has been at One and looks like it will remain at One for now. Legal Seduction is presented as a book about a successful defense attorney Iris, crossing paths with a successful business mogul Nash, after his niece gets into some legal trouble and he seeks Iris out to help them beat the case. Pretty promising and interesting plot however it was severely undeveloped. The characters were barely explored, their relationship was glossed over and rushed and the plot device used to bring these two characters into each others radar was discarded after it did what it was meant to do. I found myself rolling my eyes throughout the novel and I actually stopped reading 18 pages before the end of the novel, to read a DIFFERENT book just to get through the last couple of pages. I simply did not enjoy this book. ********GOING FORWARD, THERE WILL BE SPOILERS ******** I think what bothered me the most about this book is the fact that a decent story line and plot was pretty much thrown to the wayside for a relationship that basically sprouted out of nowhere, consisted of sex, doubt and breaking up and didn't really make much sense. Iris is introduced to Nash when his niece Tania is arrested for having drugs on her that she claims were planted on her. Nash seeks Iris out because she is apparently this great defense attorney who specializes in helping young kids who are more times than not, in the wrong place at the right time. The attraction between Iris and Nash is obvious from the moment they see one another which is fine, but somehow this story about Iris defending Tania, turns into a convoluted story where Iris is now Tanias guardian and no longer her lawyer, Nash who isn't interested in a relationship and never has been is suddenly head over heels for Iris and Tania who has previously been acting out and getting in trouble both in school and out, is all of a sudden this amazing and brilliant, well behaved and adjusted teenager. It was like...there were issues and clear conflicts that needed to be addressed and then BAM! All of those issues were fixed and it was just about Iris and Nash chasing after and running from one another. You don't get to see Iris BE this amazing defense attorney she is praised for being. Instead you get to watch her go on a roller-coaster ride of insecurity and uncertainty about why a man like Nash would want to be with someone like her. The extent of Nash's business acumen is explored by him attending fund raisers and grand openings, being stalked by a crazy ex who poses no real threat and has no discernible point in the story other than to cause conflict that feels contrived and unnecessary. Then there is Tania, this smart and beautiful young girl who seems to be struggling with the fact that her parents died when she was young and has no female role model to guide her, so she acts out and is getting into trouble. Only for her to make a complete 180 when she moves in with Iris, who is a complete stranger to her. Nothing was explored! Things simply happened and you as the reader are expected to either ignore the fact that all of these changes are happening with these characters with no catalyst or fill in the blanks for yourself. I'm sorry but I am not a writer so I do not want to read a book and have to come up with my own back stories and motivations for someone else's characters. Iris is supposed to be a powerhouse of an attorney. WHERE?! Nash is supposed to be this mega star and genius business man. WHERE?! It's very possible that Tania and Iris bonded and Iris gave Tania some very wise words and guidance to cause her complete shift in behavior, but we don't get to SEE that. It was as if Sharon C. Cooper just needed a reason for Iris and Nash to get together and then once they were, nothing else mattered. Honestly Tania could have been taken completely out of the story, Nash and Iris could have remained a Businessman and Attorney and they could have met at a club and the end result of this story would have been the same. Legal Seduction was just dissatisfying. And I know this is a romance novel, but I'm not going to insult romance authors or myself by lowering my expectations when it comes to character development and exposition or accepting when those things are sub-par or completely lacking. If anything, those two things should be the PRIMARY focus in Romance novels since that is where the focus is as opposed to a Fantasy or Science Fiction novel which has world building or magic systems to distract you with. There just seemed to be little effort in exploring these characters, their lives and their relationships on a deeper level. I didn't really feel anything for them and found it hard to care about what was going on because you don't really get to know them and all real issues that any of them had was so easily wrapped up and resolved. SO!..It looks like my search continues... Recommendation: This is the only book I have reading by Sharon so I can only go as far as saying that I wouldn't recommend LEGAL SEDUCTION...

She is a partner in a law firm and she believes in making sure the youth are not railroaded into life sentences and having to sit behind bars fighting for appeals. As much as Iris is powerful attorney and successful, her love life or lack there of is in complete contrast. She comes home to a beautiful place and has no one to share it with. Nash Dupree is a multimillionaire businessman who is a beast in the corporate world, he is shrewd, savvy and brilliant. He is also a single parent raising his teenage niece with the help of his mother's best friend Ms. Dalton. Nash has no desire whatsoever to settle down with a woman, he is enjoying his singleness and once he is done with dating a woman, the understanding is, he moves on and so does the woman. Now he finds his niece in trouble with the law, Tania insists that she is innocent and the only person she want to represent her is Iris Sinclair. Nash seeks out the attorney that his niece insists on and when he comes face to face with her, he can not believe who she is, the attraction that these two exhibit towards each other is nothing short of explosive. But just as Iris doesn't have it in her heart to turn down a teenager in trouble, she does have in heart to turn down a man whom she will not allow especially playboy Nash Dupree to break her heart. What Iris doesn't realize is that Nash is not a man who is easy to turn away nor will he accept no for an answer. Join Nash, Iris and Tania as they embark on a journey that nobody could have foreseen coming. It is a wonderful story that will keep you reading to the very end. Author Sharon C. Cooper has written another winner. Well Until My Next Review Ciao Bellas!

Now she and Nash have to navigate the attraction between them while not doing anything to jeopardize his custody of Tania. Oh, and did I mention there's a crazy stalker ex-girlfriend who's looking to get back at Nash any way she can? What really makes this story work is character. Iris is so completely sympathetic, a heroine you can really root for. Nash is hot, but multilayered. Tania is a spunky teen, and Mrs. D is the perfect sitcom housekeeper. Even Janna and Macy are surprisingly well drawn for the minor roles they play. The chemistry between Iris and Nash sizzles, and Legal Seduction is, simply put, a lot of fun.

Yeah to Sharon Cooper for penning a love story that had me on edge of my seat from start to finish. Tania was definitely a godsend not only to her uncle, millionaire Nash Dupree, but also to his lady love Attorney Iris Sinclair. This story for me relayed how insecurities can ruin a relationship while also relaying that true love has to be earned and comes at a time when neither person is looking for it. Trust is what makes true love last forever! Awesome read!!!!!!
