While I liked the idea of a book aimed at my particular subset of horse enthusiasts, I didn't feel like this book was giving me anything any other basic book about horse care and choosing a horse-loving lifestyle (from casual lessons to leasing to owning) would give, which was disappointing. But you can only narrow the fans of a particular subject so much before you run out of fresh things to say. Horses are horses, no matter who cares for them. Yes there are some considerations, such as the physical fitness of a middle aged horse lover but those can be addressed in fitness books. This is one of those books that has a great title but feels done after the first chapter (though I went further looking for more, before I bailed.)
