Alexandra Benedict has written another classic, historical romance full of passion, danger and entanglements. What hallmarks her writing is that it is very laid-back to read, her storyline is always fluent and her characters are appealing and very well fleshed out. Henrietta (Henry) Ashby has had an unusual childhood, her father raised her as a boy and calls her Henry, since he only has daughters and no sons. Therefore he has allowed her many more liberties than his other daughters and that is also the reason that she is still not married. Well, that and the fact that she has been in love with the Viscount of Ravenswood for as long as she can remember, but he only sees her as his sister-in-law. She is headstrong, opinionated, loyal to her friends and family, she knows what she wants and she is very smart. Now the Viscount has returned from his journey abroad she is determined to lure the hero of her dreams in her passionate embrace. She is fierce but also innocent and she soon discovers that the real world is not as romantic as she thought. Sebastian, Viscount of Ravenswood, has always been fond of the Ashby family, he is also very much aware of the fact that Henry is smitten by him. So he went abroad for a couple of months hoping that on his return she would be married and settled, but he has no such luck and now she somehow looks different but he seems to be the only one who has noticed, all of the sudden little, innocent Henry turns out to be quite a temptation. Sebastian’s heart is black and he is a real rogue at least that is what he believes. He does not believe in a blissful marriage for his parents did not give a good example. He knows that his brother will produce an heir so he shakes off his responsibilities as a Viscount and he indulges in all the vices he can think of, he drinks excessively, has many amorous adventures at the Hellfire Club and completely ignores the rules of society. But losing Henry’s admiration hurts more than he thought and now he wants it back. Sebastian’s brother Peter and the whole Ashby family make a great addition to the story, they all love Henry and Sebastian very much and you can feel their solidarity. Of course there is always a villain in a story and this one is quite deranged. But most of the space on the pages is filled with Henry and Sebastian’s relationship. You will see their characters grow, Henry’s change from an innocent girl into young woman and Sebastian’s belief that he truly can be a gentleman and not just a rogue and that he is worthy of true love. Henry gives Sebastian a run for his money in the seduction department and she drives him crazy with her stubbornness, so much that he, the rogue, seeks advice from a courtesan to win her back. Henry to Sebastian: “I am afraid we’re in a terrible fix.” Sebastian followed her gaze- and his heart shuddered at the sight of the mistletoe. “My lord, I do believe I owe you a kiss.” “But you and I are friends”, she said next, eyes slanted in demure innocence. “And it wouldn’t do a’ tall if I kissed you on the lips… instead I will kiss you where you’ve never been kissed before.” Alexandra Benedicts knows how to throw you into ecstasies with her stories and she provides you with a warm, classic but refreshing love story that will steal your heart. Curl up at the couch with Too Scandalous to Wed and you will disappear into the regency realm and enjoy many hours of first-class reading!

In a previous book, we met Henrietta Ashby, fondly known as Henry. Being the youngest of four girls she is her father's favorite, thus spoiled. Henry gets everything she wants, except Viscount Ravenswood. She has been in love with him since a child. She knows he loves her too, he is just too stubborn to realize it. No matter how much she chases after him, he will not give in. Even when she wears revealing gowns and flirts relentlessly, he only treats her as a younger sister. No matter how much she chases after him, he will not give in. Even when she wears revealing gowns and flirts relentlessly, he only treats her as a younger sister. Viscount Ravenswood, who's name is Sebastian, has just about had it with Henry. He loves her like a sister and wants her to be happily married, just not to him. As a young boy, Sebastian learned from his father about pre-destiny. He believes he was born wicked and no matter what he does, he won't go to Heaven. So, he decided to spend his life drinking and womanizing. A wife is the last thing he wants, especially one like Henry. In a fit of frustration, Sebastian decided to take a long trip away. Sebastian hopes while he is gone, she will fall in love with another, better suited man, and finally leave him alone. When Ravenswood goes on his vacation, Henry decided she needs help. She sets up a meeting with a famous recluse in town, who happens to be a retired prostitute. When Henry explains the situation to her, she gladly agrees to help and sets about teaching Henry the correct way to catch a man. Five months later, when Sebastian returns, he can hardly believe his eyes. While he was away, she had become a desirable woman. As Henry fights for her man, Sebastian fights it with everything within him. When an enemy of Sebastian's decides to enter the picture, everyone's turns topsy turvy. Due to the help of a third party, all tables are turned. Is it too late for Sebastian and Henry though? The characters are vibrant and humorous, and I cannot wait for the next book from Alexandra Benedict, a rising star.

It was like imagining me and my clumsiness attempting and miserably failing to seduce a seducer. In top of that he sees Henry clumsy attempt at seduction as nothing but a nuisance. When (thankfully) Henry realizes her attempts are not working (and with Sebastian being away) she seeks the help of a famous prostitute and learns how to subtly seduce Seb. So this time Henry's seduction plan is working! BUT (view spoiler)[ unfortunately Seb finds out and leaves a heart-broken Henry behind. Henry goes to apologize and tell him how she feels about him but instead all she gets is finding him getting a blowjob from a prostitute dressed in a nun costume! Thankfully for these two the story has a villain that makes sure certain love letter is spread and well... (view spoiler)[ now they have to marry! Which now is Henry's worst nightmare. See slowly realizes he misses Henry's adoration so he tries to be better and now he's the one seducing her (hide spoiler)] Can Seb get over the you'll-always-be-bad stigma and become the hero he can be (he already is, at least a little bit) and that Henry deserves? Can Henry forgive and learn to love the flawed Seb?

Okay, let's start with the good stuff. I really loved the book. I thought the story was believable. I think every girl has day dreamed about a guy, making him too perfect in her mind only later to find out he has flaws. I will say there were a few editorial issues that sort of bothered me. For example, if one more character "bristled" I was going to scream. There are so many words in the world there was no need for someone to "bristle" in every chapter. All that being said I have to thank Miss Ben Okay, let's start with the good stuff. I really loved the book. I thought the story was believable. For example, if one more character "bristled" I was going to scream. There are so many words in the world there was no need for someone to "bristle" in every chapter. All that being said I have to thank Miss Benedict very much. Because I was very close to my late grandfather, whose name was Henry and I was planning to name my child after him. I was a little disappointed when I found out I was having a girl for that reason. But now I'm not! After reading her book and hearing the name over and over I have fallen in love with "Henry" for a girl. I stumbled upon the book by accident and part of me thinks it was a sign from grandfather (who I called Hankie) we had a very similar relationship to Henry and her father. Then when Henry had red hair and brown eyes just like me I knew it was perfect. So thank you Miss. Benedict

I could not get through this book page 275 and I had enough. I really enjoyed this genre one upon a time but this book I could not really get into. Lord Ravenswood was the typical rogue who would not marry because he was bad and Henrietta was the usual character, falls for the rogue, who she has known since she was a youngster. with all the toing and froing we know how it is going to end.

I can't get over how Henrietta goes by Henry. I forget that she's a female which makes this a little more gender ambiguous than I like. Also Henry has been chasing after Sebastian since she was 12. Sebastian's younger brother of 36 is married to Henry's oldest sister...so he's at least 16 years older than her. Eww. Classic bawdy bodice ripper. Rather uninteresting. Call me crazy, but I need a plot.

Unfortunately this was a DNF. I've tried reading it a couple times now, and have gotten to the same spot and just stopped. Both paper copy and ebook copy! I guess the set-up just isn't my thing. We'll make this short and sweet: Fast read, fun fluff. Though I admit Ravenswood's dark secret was most unusual! We'll make this short and sweet: Fast read, fun fluff. Though I admit Ravenswood's dark secret was most unusual!
