Royal Navy: My Life On The Ocean Waves

Douglas Freeman was in the Royal Navy from 1966 to 1976. Is this the funniest Royal Navy Auto-biography ever? Well my family and friends seem to think so. The people I loaned my book to said they were in stitches with all the funny stories I had to tell about my journeys around the world and "My Life On The Ocean Waves". It was the best of times.... This book bought back many memories of my time in the RN. My time in the mob didn't just consist of me staggering from bar to bar, brewery visits, questionable ladies in even more questionable bars ( don't tell my mum ), but lots of my naval memories do. Those who complained about spelling errors or errors of grammar, well if that floats your boat, dig out. I liked the book and laughed lots. Finally, to those who obviously confused the author with Douglas Reeman, real It was the best of times.... This book bought back many memories of my time in the RN. I have a great mate and this book sounds very much like his time in the Royal Navy. Made me laugh and at times sad as things have changed in our armed forces never to return. Dougie served his time and really enjoyed the journey and the book takes us through the years and places he visited. All round a very good read.

10 years in the Andrew' does not make you a particularly good author!! The book is written like a bad diary with a few second hand jokes thrown in. I am sure that he has been encouraged by friends and family to put his memories on to paper but it is not a very good effort. 10 years in the Andrew' does not make you a particularly good author!!
