While these books are formulaic, kids seem to love them, and they are all subtly different and they aren't too much of a chore to read aloud. While these books are formulaic, kids seem to love them, and they are all subtly different and they aren't too much of a chore to read aloud.

This is the fourth book of seven in the "Weather Fairies" series by the group of authors who go by the name Daisy Meadows. It's a fun series, especially for young girls who are starting to read chapter books. Our oldest is addicted and I am encouraging it since I am confident that these books will help her develop a love for reading! She reads them on her own and will sometimes read aloud to me. We will discuss the plots, her favorite parts and what we think will happen later in the series.

My favorite character is Goldie (the sunshine fairy). It's about Kristy and Rachel and goblins and Goldie the fairy, they were loking for the sunshine feather and they found the goblins sitting in a mud pool. This is the bets weather fairy book yet, and i like the rainbow fairies too. My favorite character is Goldie (the sunshine fairy). Great one to point to advanced readers to read through the seasons we are currently experiencing. They can then build on connections on the type of temperature and activities they do for that type of weather.

The part where everything gets hot is mildly engaging but only lasts a few pages. The rest of the time is a solidly dull march through what feels like the duty of the author to remind us which characters are involved in this series and who wants what. This was a good book to read with my six-year-old. She is going into first grade this coming school year and did well with it. There were few spots she had trouble with. The plot was challenging enough to make her have to think about what was happening when I asked her questions but not too difficult for her that she got lost. We both enjoyed reading this together. She has decided she wants to read all of the Weather Fairies series after reading this book.

I enjoyed this one more than the book before it, though I didn’t like the pigs talking to the girls. In all previous books the animals didn’t speak to the girls without magic

My four year old daughter loves these! And SURPRISE! my two year old son will actually sit and listen to one at a time. There are small pencil drawings on most of the pages and every few pages has a full length picture, similar to the Magic Tree House books. She loves them and that is all I care about. I do wish the fairies didn't dress so........trashy. (Really? a cocktail dress and thigh high boots on some of them? These are for young girls!) But I usually skip over the descriptions, or edit them, and we don't spend a lot of time investigating the covers like we would with another book. The rest of the stories are very appropriate for young girls and just magical enough to prompt role playing and imagination. More importantly, we are branching into LOTS of other books due to the realization that she can sit through and enjoy a chapter book like this. YAY!

I am just giving this a lower review, because it took me longer than I would have liked to finish reading this book (it really is my own fault, I don't know why I am blaming the book). There was a funny part where the sun was getting so hot that the corn was popping and making pop corn - that got me thinking if that could actually happen (I doubt it). Overall, just like any other Rainbow Magic book, predictable but good to read when your bored.

Goldie`s feather is missing, and now the sun isn`t setting at the right time. It`s seven thirty, and for Rachel and Kirsty, the sun still hasn`t set! It was really funny when the goblin was snoring in the mud. If you didn't read this book you should really read this book. "My favorite part was when the goblin couldn't see the sunshine feather and he thought it was broken." - Ingrid I find the Rainbow Fairies pretty insufferable, "written by committee" type books, but Ingrid has read a few from the library. Good for independent reading, miserable for reading aloud, in my book! These Rainbow Magic books are so popular with young girls in our library, I needed to read one. I can see why girls suck them up: they feature young girls like themselves that save the day and are full of fairies and fairy dust. The story was very simple and formulaic and the language very average. Overall poor literary quality.
