Norman Waters wants a new life. He wants out of his insurance job and his rumpled suit. The opportunity for change arrives when he discovers an NYPD uniform. A replica, but almost perfect. The only flaws are an odd-looking shoulder patch and a badge that says 'Officer Tequila Shots.' He wears it out of the store. It feels good, really good. He is an enforcer of the people. A terror to those who prey on the weak and destitute. An alcoholic that stumbles through the streets and vomits in trash cans. It's exciting, and he hasn't known that feeling since youth. Policing becomes an escape from depressing routine and everyday worry. This eventually leads him to the aid of a boy being abused by his father. Excitement fades as he's thrown into the criminal underworld, suddenly entrenched in a war with a local gang of cutthroats, dealers, and pimps. On the line is an innocent teenager, his drug-addicted mother, Norman's blood, and a chance at starting over. *Disclaimer - Swearing and semi-explicit sex scenes.

OFFICER TEQUILA SHOTS is a quirky novel written by James Dearling who, I suspect, is a quirky author. I received the book from the author as a free giveaway together with a typrewritten letter (yes, I meant written on a typewriter) personally addressed to me. Not only was his letter delightful, but so is his book. Having just completed reading the tenth and last book of a historical series, OFFICER TEQUILA SHOTS ended up being a light-hearted and welcome change to the type of novels I had been r OFFICER TEQUILA SHOTS is a quirky novel written by James Dearling who, I suspect, is a quirky author. Not only was his letter delightful, but so is his book. Having just completed reading the tenth and last book of a historical series, OFFICER TEQUILA SHOTS ended up being a light-hearted and welcome change to the type of novels I had been reading. One can identify with Norman Waters, who is sick of his job. Initially I had trouble understanding what motivated him to do what he did, but that resolved itself as the story played itself out. Although Dearling doesn't delve much into the psychology of Norman, his actions somehow explain themselves by the results. The reader can't help but feel endeared to Norman who not surprisingly faces danger and possible death at the hands of some very nasty characters just because he wanted to help a boy being abused by his father. Almost in spite of himself, Norman saves the day - the boy and his mother - and, in the process, saves himself. Funny, well written and a quick read, a book that I enjoyed. Thank you James Dearling.

"Officer Tequila Shots" by James Dearling is a somewhat inspiring crime story. Norman is a man frustrated in his love life and bored with his job. A costume party uniform incites the idea in him to become Officer Tequila and walk the streets as an alter persona. By doing so he becomes someone bigger and better than his previous mouse existence and does some good on the way. Helping a young boy and his mother and saving them from abuse Norman comes into his own and turns his own life around, howev "Officer Tequila Shots" by James Dearling is a somewhat inspiring crime story. By doing so he becomes someone bigger and better than his previous mouse existence and does some good on the way. Helping a young boy and his mother and saving them from abuse Norman comes into his own and turns his own life around, however, not without some complications. This is an original story that combines a action driven crime story action with psychological eleements and moral aspects. Inspiring in its message and warm in its style the book is a very pleasant read that goes beyond a one dimensional short. It contains some erotic scenes and some moderate violence but not to an extent that should deter many readers. A well rounded novel.
