This is a short, entertaining read that could get you in a lot of trouble. As an avid reader and reviewer, nobody roots harder for authors than I do. I REALLY want them to succeed, but writing is and always has been a precarious occupation. I read mostly memoirs and many of "my" authors simply want to tell their stories to help others. Obviously, this author addresses those who want to make money. As Bill Bryson says, the "secret" to being a professional writer is finding someone willing to pay for your stuff and Amazon reviews DO seem to attract sales. The best way to get reviews is to write an outstanding book with an appealing title and a cover that reaches out and grabs the potential reader. Then sit back and let nature take its course. I think this author's advice to write reviews on books similar to yours as a way of drawing attention to yourself as an author has some merit, but ONLY if you're a good writer. I've read TERRIBLE reviews by people claiming to be authors themselves and it certainly doesn't inspire me to seek out their work. Her advice to buy "honest" reviews on Fiverr is absurd. Sometimes I spend up to an hour on a single review, not counting the time to read the book. Who would do that for 5 bucks? All you'll get is someone reading the book description and writing a short, generic review that says nothing and does nothing. Save your money. I agree with her that a few well-written, thoughtful reviews will do all that's possible to sell your book. I'm constantly surprised at the authors who seek me out for a review on a book that already has a ton of them. What can I add to the conversation? I also think that her advice on video reviews is probably worth the price of admission, although I've never done one or looked at one. Cover all the bases, if you can. So read the book and use what you can, but proceed cautiously and don't put all your eggs in this particular basket. I always recommend Nick Vulich's KINDLE CASH SYSTEM because it looks outside the box (i.e. Amazon.) I also like the advice of author and marketing expert Diana Loera (WHAT I DID TO SELL MORE KINDLE BOOKS ON AMAZON.) And (PLEASE!) consider FOOLPROOF KINDLE COVERS by Dee Ankary. Your book cover and title are vitally important if you want to sell books, so don't neglect them.

When I initially read the title of the book, I was under the impression that it would be like most non-fiction books. That it would be a dry read with a great deal of facts. In some aspects, this is so. The book does contain a ton of information. It isn’t dry though. There is a ton of humor mixed in with the facts. It basically lays out a plan for gaining book sales by using reviews. It tells about who to send books to, what types of promotions to offer, and how to keep from getting bad reviews When I initially read the title of the book, I was under the impression that it would be like most non-fiction books. One good point in the book was that it told how to write a good review. I have always used the same format when I write them, and seeing it written down was really nice. I like that others feel the same as I do. No book is all bad. Everything has something good about it. The other thing about the book that I liked was that the book told about ethical and unethical practices. It labels the unethical ones, which I found nice. I like seeing both sides. You get the whole story that way and know what to stay away from. Great job for including both. The only part of the book that I wasn’t super thrilled with was that the author advertised her websites several times throughout. I can see that this information could be helpful and would probably do the same. I am just not used to seeing this in books, and it wasn’t something I was looking for. Overall, I can see this being a must have for anyone trying to sell their book. There is just too much information here to overlook. This is definitely a must have reference.

Some great marketing tips, but disappointing too This book has some useful marketing tips for getting reviews on Amazon. There's no BS, in that marketing takes time and work. The author is completely honest about the rather shady areas that exist and what Amazon thinks of these practices. I was surprised to learn that some authors leave negative reviews on other author's pages with a completely erroneous notion that this will somehow affect their own book sales in a positive manner. I was surprised to learn that some authors leave negative reviews on other author's pages with a completely erroneous notion that this will somehow affect their own book sales in a positive manner. What a waste of their precious marketing time! Some of her tips were the "wow, I never thought of that" variety and were completely ingenious as well as completely on the up and up. Others were tips I would not chose to follow, even if it did increase sales. The reasons I only gave three stars: -There were more typos than I like to see. -Almost NONE of the links worked (and there were a lot of links.) These were links I was very interested in checking out. And might even have paid for other services the author talked about. (So she lost a customer.) -The images were terrible--cut off, some completely blank. These were examples that needed to be seen in reference to the text. -some sentence structure issues arose in a few places. I found myself thinking (huh?) or re-reading due to awkward wording. All in all, it was worth the time to read for the tips, but skip the links and know you are on your own... None of the future help she promised on her website actually exists.

I've been brainstorming ways to get more reviews, so I thought this book would be a good fit. For the most part, it was. I would say that 80% of the tips the author gives are good ways to get reviews. Most of it is tried-and-true advice, but the author writes in a clear and concise way. There were a few spelling errors, but nothing distracting. The last part of the book was not good, however. There were a few spelling errors, but nothing distracting. The last part of the book was not good, however. I didn't agree with the "you decide whether or not it's unethical" slant that the author took with this section. For example, I don't ever believe that an author should try to influence the way reviews look on a product page. This is manipulative, and while it may or may not help with your sales, you're abusing the system, and thus readers' trust if they find out. Therefore, I don't believe an author should ever toe this kind of line. The only exception I would clarify would be honest reviews. It toes the line, but as long as it's clear that you're not paying for reviews themselves (like with a raffle), then I think that's fair. Overall, this was a quick read that I finished on a 30 min airplane flight. The price was right, too. I would have given the book 4 stars, but the ethical stuff rubbed me the wrong way. Still, I would recommend it to anyone who wants to know where to start in finding reviews.

Book reviews on Amazon not only allow customers to make informed decisions, but play a vital role for authors in getting their books noticed by the Amazon algorithms. Authors who want to maximize their sales should spend a good amount of time trying to get a large number of good reviews. In Get More Reviews So You Can Sell More Books, E.T. She gave great tips on how to optimize profile pages and spelled out a unique review “giving” strategy that can lead to authors getting their book discovered and hopefully reviewed. This book offers much more value than its low price tag and is short, to the point and worth a read by the beginner and veteran indie writer alike.

Straight forward tips I liked how this book was really practical and to the point. There wasn't any long winded explanations like in other books, it just went right at it throughout. There were a few typos but it's not a grammar book and they weren't enough to throw me off too much. If you're looking for a quick read into the world of getting reviews this will do the trick. Wonderful I learned a lot of great tips in this book. The author mentioned the websites she runs. Which is funny I just submitted a book to one today. Anyways most books give a lot of the same stuff, but this one has new information and was extremely helpful for us seasoned put publishers and beginners

Solid advice but. . . Solid advice but. . . Some really good advice here, some of which I already use, and some other tips I need to implement. Serious problem with pix in my copy though. All were tiny, many were sideways, and a number weren't even there. Solid advice but. . . Solid advice but. . .
