I really wanted to love this story from start to finish, but there were a few nagging hang-ups that just couldn’t be ignored. Firstly, it was very predictable. It moved quite quickly in the beginning, and there was a lot of hinting at the past that haunted Carlene, and the reason she found herself in her current position, which meant I never really connected with her character. Things accelerated even more when Nick entered the picture, and then suddenly the brakes were applied and that’s when I I really wanted to love this story from start to finish, but there were a few nagging hang-ups that just couldn’t be ignored. Things accelerated even more when Nick entered the picture, and then suddenly the brakes were applied and that’s when I really started to enjoy this read because I finally understood the characters a bit more. This story had a Cinderella feel to it as Carlene stepped out of the shadow of her past and into an entire new world of riches, diamonds and the limelight. But, unlike Cinderella, Carlene didn’t quite find her fairytale ending…or did she??? I’m not a huge fan of novellas and short stories, only because I find that they are either crammed with too much info, or there’s just not enough to the story; It’s almost like someone just chopped a full length novel in half. So, even though this was a great book, I felt a little cheated when it ended so abruptly. The ending, as sudden and unexpected as it was, was a great set up for the next book, though. I am looking forward to finding out if Carlene will get her fairytale moment, or if her past will continue to stand in the way of her happiness.

I really loved this novella! Carlene has never had an easy life, but she has really wonderful friends, and works in a homeless shelter. After a happenstance meet with Nick, she feels a connection to him she hasn't felt in a long time but life has thrown a few curveballs at her so she's cautious about who she lets in her heart. She later decides to step out of her comfort zone, and leave the shelter and look for job, start life a fresh. Nick is confident, so gentle with Carlene and really hot at the same time. *swoon* Wohoo! I can't wait to read the second novella in this series, Rekindled Moments, when it releases in February.

I hate cliffhangers and I don’t like mini stories that I have to wait to find out what happens next. I am very frustrated!! Ok, now that I vented I feel better! We don’t get privy to all that transpired in that tragedy, but learn about what she does with her life now. She goes to the church where his funeral was on an anniversary of his death. She sits in the pew in the back and cries. There was a man lighting a candle in the front and he comes up to her and as they talk and share a kiss, she is awakened from living behind shadows. She gets hope and moves on and finds a job and then becomes a model and gets an apartment. She has come a long way in a short amount of time. She runs into this man, Nick, again several times. When he comes to her sometime later and things really start to happen for them, they both realize that they both know her exboyfriend/ exfiance. Then he walks right out the door. Then poof, the end. That’s all I can tell you without any spoilers. But, I want to slap him silly. I enjoyed reading about Carlene and how she didn’t want to, didn’t feel like she could get rid of the guilt over her ex’s death but Nick helped with that and then fate brings it back down on her. Not sure how I feel about leaving such a vulnerable person until February when the next book comes out. I mean that is cruel. She needs some happiness and it seems she is brought down again and we can’t be there to encourage her along. Yeah, I know it is just a book but it is sad.

I received a copy from the author in exchange for my honest review, so here it is. WOW, this one threw me for a loop. A very sad and heart-wrenching story. On the anniversary of that fateful day, she stops at the local church to light a candle in Chris' memory, as she has done since his death. Only this time there is someone else there too. The gentleman hears her crying and asks if she is okay and she says she is fine. He ask her to have coffee with him. She does. He tells her his name is Nick and after the coffee she gets up to leave and slips and the stranger catches her and they are so close, and he kisses her. She has feelings stir that she thought were long gone. Then he leaves and she knows she will never see him again. With help and a shove from her best friend, Melisa, Carlene moves out of the shelter and starts a new job. Things are beginning to look up for her. After she returns a purse, the lady offers her a job at her jewelry store. Carlene is doing well at the store and making enough money to move into an apartment of her own. One day she looks up and sees Nick standing there with a stunningly beautiful lady. They are there to buy an engagement ring. Carlene is heartbroken. Things change for them both. What will happen when they learn who the other is? Can Nick forgive her for what happened? Will Carlene be able to explain what happened after she realizes who Nick is? This is a first for me by Dori Lavelle and I loved it, so much I quickly bought book 2, I have to know what happens between Carlene and Nick.

The “Moments in Time” Series by Dori Lavelle caught my eye on Facebook because all the covers are just so beautiful and the titles appealed to me. Carlene has a dark secret to hide that almost broke her and makes a happy future seem impossible. She does deserve happiness, though, and her way toward it is fun to read. I like the way she rises from rags to riches and comes closer to her dreams. It is almost too good to be true, but believable. I didn’t see the twist in the plot coming, and the end is a huge cliffhanger. Looks like I’ll have to get the other books in the series, Rekindled Moments and Bittersweet Moments. This is a short read, but you won’t forget it easily. There’s enough potential in “Entangled Moments” that it could have been a full novel. If you like second chance stories, you’ll enjoy this eBook.

I was given a copy of this book to read and review and could not walk away until I had finished it. Now I want to read more! Entangled Moments by Dori Lavelle is a novella with a punch. It tells the story of Carlene who lives in a homeless shelter and is guilt ridden. From a sure and happy woman she became a shell of her former self with no goals in her life and always a sense of a heavy burden of guilt on her shoulders. It is in this state that she meets a stranger in a church, where she has gone to seek redemption, who somehow affects her like no one has affected her in a long time. The story starts slowly but soon picks its rhythm. Dori quickly builds an atmosphere of secrecy and tension between Nick and Dori with a simmering attraction in the background which both are trying their level best to ignore. The characters are beautifully woven and are able to touch the reader's heart with their heart felt emotions. The attraction between Nick and Carlene is sensuous and I was left fervently hoping a happily ever-after for them along with a killer curiosity about the dark secret that Carlene is hiding. This is a quick and fast paced novella that will keep you on the edge of your seats and like me hopefully you will also feel compelled to finish it in one sitting! :) The only downside or a disappointment for me was the cruel cliffhanger which left me hanging with an itch to read the next book which is yet to release! Dori gives the reader a passionate story of love lost and found with life destroying difficulties in between and introduces us with people who are flawed, have made mistakes in the past but are now trying to start a new life. A sweet story and a compelling narrative, Entangled Moments gets a 4 out of 5 from me and a recommendation that you read this book while I wait eagerly for the next book in this series. :) I received an ARC of this book from the author, Dori Lavelle and Grapevine Book Tours and I am very thankful to them. The above review is my personal and unbiased opinion. This review is also available on my blog http://njkinny.blogspot.in

She has committed herself to paying penance for the rest of her life to make up for the one mistake. While visiting a local church to light a candle for her deceased fiancé, she meets Nick. They go for coffee and shortly thereafter, kiss. This evokes change in Carlene’s whole outlook…maybe life can go on after Chris? From that time on, Carlene begins to reclaim her life. As the story is short, change is swift. Carlene cannot stop thinking about Nick. At her new job, Carlene flourishes and predictably, runs into Nick again. The sparks are there but timing is not right….Nick is picking out an engagement ring with his fiancé. Without going into further detail (don’t want to spoil the story after all), I found the story fast paced. In then end (which came MUCH too swiftly), I was invested in Carlene’s life. I was left with the desire to read the next book so that I can see how (or if?) the relationship between Carlene and Nick will play out now that the “big” secret was revealed. I enjoyed the story and would recommend it should you need a short, engaging read. Though….have the second book on hand….as I would have liked.

Carlene is just barely keeping it together each day until she meets Nick. They are both paying their respects at a local chapel and he asks her to go for coffee. In a perfectly quaint scenario she has an almost slip and fall and he catches her and leans in to kiss her good and proper in the middle of the coffee shop. After this inspiring event and with the encouragement of a dear friend, Carlene sets out to come to terms with the tragic past and take slow and steady steps forward. As the title suggest, the characters in this tale are entangled in each other before they are even aware of the how or why of it. The book is about 100 pages (i.e. shortish) so the characters develop quickly and events happen steadily. You won't be bored. Romance, a little heat, a whole lot of angst, and a really sweet tale (albeit with a wicked cruel cliffhanger ending)(*groans*).

How long is one expected to hold on to the feeling that a better life is undeserved? A month? A year? A decade? A lifetime? Carlene has spent the last four years filled with contrition for her part in a life-altering tragedy. Reading through the book, the author lays a thin sheer curtain to mask why Charlene’s life is where it is in the beginning of the book. All we know is that there was a very very bad accident that Charlene blames herself for. And we are left to assume what really happened. Did she kill someone? Did someone threaten her life? so on and so forth. This sense of mystery and the touch of romance in the novella keeps you reading. And when the author ended the book with this HUGE cliffhanger I wanted to scream! I loved this first installment in the Moments of Time Novellas from Dori Lavelle. I can’t wait to read more from her.

The story was a quick read for me and was really heart-warming. Nick and Carlene have an intense connection, and their story really clicked for me. When the novella ended, I found myself thinking “Nooo….I have to know what happens next!!” I don’t know how I’ll ever make it until the next installment in February.

It was a pleasure to receive a free copy, for my honest review, as I really enjoyed reading this novella! For me, the sign of a good book is similar to that of a good film: it leaves you wanting more. And that’s exactly what Entangled Moments did! I quickly took to and empathized with the main character Carlene and was rooting for her and Nick from the outset. I love that Carlene made such a brave move and step out of her familiar surroundings to start life completely afresh. And completely differently. At times I kind of wished I was in her shoes, (especially when she meets Nick). There is a *twist* at the end which made my mind hyperactive, with what happens next, and I just cannot wait to read the next book in this series!

Carlene is the main character who meets a dashing man by chance as they are both lighting candles for someone they loved and lost. Carlene doesn't know who Nick is or that he is a well known celebrity. She only knows that she shared a kiss with a complete stranger that completely rocked her world. So now what does she do? I enjoyed watching as Carlene's life unfolds with some unexpected turns a long the way. I really enjoyed this story and I'm anxiously awaiting to see what happens next! An accident disrupted the future she’d hoped for by taking the life of the man she’d planned to spend forever with. *The reviewer obtained a free e-copy of Entangled Moments from the author, Dori Lavelle, in exchange for an honest review.*

Carlene was part of a tragic accident that killed her fiance. She left everything she knew behind and has been hiding out helping others in need. It's been four years since the accident and she meets Nick. They talk and share a kiss that gives her the desire to start her life over. She doesn't know if she will ever see him again. She gets a wonderful job and her life starts to improve greatly. Another chance encounter has her meeting Nick again and she finds he has a few secrets she didn't know. Her past may just come between them before they have a chance at love as well. They have more in common than they know but it may be to much for them to handle. This is a short quick read but you really want more after you finish it. Carlene has let her past keep her from living a normal life and it takes meeting Nick to get her to see she needs to live again. She s a good person and you keep wanting her to succeed in her goals. You really don't get the details on how the accident happened with her fiance and it does leave you wanting to know what happened. She seems like such a good person you have to know. Nick at first to me seemed like a nice guy. In the middle of the story I kinda didn't like him for his secret and the ending I didn't care much for him. At times he can seem like a super great, sweet guy and others times you want to knock some sense into him. Carlene and Nick both have a lot of chemistry between them which you get to see when they get together. The ending left me wanting the next story now as I have to know how things are going to turn out. This book will only wet your appetite as you wait to see what the future holds for these two.

She has committed to spend every remaining moment trying to make up for that one instance when everything changed. Then she gets a second chance. When Carlene meets Nick Johnson, the single kiss they share awakens the desires she shoved aside for so long. Suddenly she wants more than what she believe she deserves. Will she ever see him again? A thing of fate. Carlene lives her life trying to pay for her past mistake thinking that she is undeserving of a happy future. That is until she meets Nick and starts to rethink her plan of a solitary life. Nick is immediately entranced and after just one kiss he can't get Carlene off of his mind. He doesn't know if he will ever see her again but fate is kind when their paths cross unexpectedly cross. This is a quick, fast-paced book with lots of twists and turns along the way. You will be pulled into Carlene's story from the beginning. The emotions are strong and the attraction sizzles off of the pages between Nick and Carlene. The author does a good job of telling this story and bringing the characters to life. This is the first book in the Moments in Time Series. I would recommend this book.

In Entangled Moments, Lavella packs a lot of tension, suspense, secrets, romance, sex and lies into a few pages. The journey of Carlene’s rags to riches story may have an air of fairytale to it, but it is fascinating. The story begins with a chance encounter and a dramatic kiss. From that moment on, you don’t see how they can, but you root for Carlene and Nick to get together. It’s the unlikely and frustrating encounters throughout the book that kept me reading. Once they were together, you knew it was only a matter of time before their secrets would tear them apart. It’s like watching the NASCAR race only for the train wreck. Without giving away to much, I will let you know the ending will not disappoint. It left me with my mouth wide open and I wasn’t expected it at all. My one issue that added to the fairytale feel of the book (fairytale as in unbelievable) is the setting. The book is set in some small town called Serendipity (ironic name) frequented by celebrities and wealthy people, but the book never goes into where or why. I can’t image a city like that anywhere in the world and it left me annoyed, but not enough to put the book down. If you enjoy a little mystery with your romance, check this book out. Lavelle does exactly what she needs to do, which is get you hooked enough to make you want to see what happens next.

I was given this book by the author for an honest review. Cliffhanger grrrrrrrrrrrrrr I hate cliffhangers and usually I would give nothing higher then a 4 due to that but dangin it this book was good. It was way to short but I LOVED IT. I can't wait to find out how Carlene truly lost her exboyfriend. Now I have to wait a month to find out if Nick and her break up or get together, if they can work through all the issues. Is this quits or will they find their way back. I just know in book two Carlen I was given this book by the author for an honest review. Going through life is never easy, when one looses it all and hits rock bottom there is only one way to go up but how many times must you hit and rehit those rocks before you can finally come out ahead not only in life but love. Carlene just came out of rock bottom to go right back down. She went from having a life to loosing it all and then to having a life. Will she loose it all again? She will have a choice to move on or stay with those rocks. This books said so much but leaves so much out there is so many ways this next book can go which leaves your mind spinning and you just have to know. Right now Ms. Lavelle I am not liking you to much but at the same time I adore you style in writing. I am almost postive that I would enjoy reading any book you write.

I really enjoyed the characters in this one. We start off with Carlene and Melisa 2 good friends that meet at their lowest points. I enjoyed the relationships and found it well written. I was definitely left with curiosity to know more about her past and was left needing more at the end being left with a HUGE cliff-hanger. The story-line moved at a good pace and I cannot wait to read the next!!!

My thoughts… “There’s nothing wrong with admiring something you love. Or owning it. In fact, if you wish for something hard enough, it might just come to you.” This was a really sweet novella. It was love at first sight with a twist. Carlene has not had an easy life, but she has worked hard and she is now somewhat happy. She moved out of the shelter she was staying in, she has a good job, a great apartment, and she has found someone new she wants to spend her life with. Until everything comes crashing down. I thought this story was really interesting. We know that he fiancé has died and she blamed herself but we are not sure exactly how it happened and if she was really to blame for it. Her character was one that was learning how to be happy again. She wasn’t entirely sure she ever would be again but she was doing it. Nick is a hotshot millionaire that kisses random women in diners..lol not really. (You’ll get it when you read it.) Anyway he has lost a brother that he had just found after being separated. He is engaged to someone else but can not get Carlene out of his head. We don’t really know much about him in this book. He actually isn’t in much of it. I enjoyed the book but I felt that the love story was a little rushed. They had one night together and a couple meetings. I am as much a hopeless romantic as the next person but I felt this was a little too fast for me. They were mentioning love already, I mean really? Anyway the pace of the book was really good for the novella and other than the romance the flow worked really well. I really enjoyed this book and I can’t wait to see what is in store for this couple in the next novellas!!!
