Holy 5-STAR Hotness!!! In this complete box set, you meet Renee, a woman who is desperate to win back her boyfriend by becoming a sexual submissive. She finds an add in the paper and enlists the aid of a professional Dom who trains women in the art of being submissives. Stefan is an enigmatic character. He is also a very troubled man, having lost his wife to cancer. This is what led him to becoming a Dom. He needed the power, to have control over something, and the BDSM lifestyle gave him what he needed…until Renee showed up. Her innocent eagerness to dive into a lifestyle she'd only ever read about sent warning bells off, but for his own reasons, Stefan agrees. Their professional relationship quickly turns personal, and neither is really prepared for the emotions running wild between them. Many adventures and misunderstandings await this couple, from devious ex-lovers, to abusive Doms, you won't want to put this one down! This was the first title by Vivien Sparx that I have had the pleasure of reading, but it certainly will not be the last.

A mixed review for what seemed in places to be a mixed-up and disjointed account of the mixed-up 'master' of the title, and the woman he takes on as a trainee submissive. This was in places very well written, with some steamy sex scenes and some taut, well-drawn moments of suspense. This was in places very well written, with some steamy sex scenes and some taut, well-drawn moments of suspense. However, these were interspersed with dramatic over-reactions, confused sentiments, and yawn-inducing repetition - all the journeying to and from their local town, along such treacherous roads, plagued by such inclement weather that I wondered why they didn't move house, especially as neither of them seemed to actually do anything for a living. In that sense, the characters, Renee in particular, lacked substance, making it hard to really become invested in her, although there were some genuinely heart-wrenching elements to the story, which the author conveyed well. Three stars because I didn't dislike it, except for balking at the apparently "professional and honourable" master slapping Renee across the face on several different occasions during the early chapters. There are a few minor proof-reading issues, and 'bare', as opposed to 'bear', misused more than once, as in; "the sensation was more than she could bare". That said, there was also a lot that was good and enjoyable, but this book is not the best it could be.

I had read each one of these stories as they were released and loved the building relationship between Renee and Stefan. When I came across this compilation, I decided to reread the stories as one complete novel. I'm so glad I did! I'm drawn to Vivien's writing style even though I'm not usually a fan of third person perspective writing. She gives her reader just the perfect amount of description to enhance the story but not overwhelm it. I felt I could connect to them and understand clearly why they struggled with meeting each other's needs despite the fact they loved each other deeply. Thank you, Vivien, for a fabulous story of lust, loss, loyalty, and true love!

This review has been hidden because it contains spoilers. To view it, click here. Hmmmm....this story could have been so much better! Where is the depth of the characters? We know nothing about Renee and her life except for the ex-boyfriend. Later when she talked about planning her wedding to Stefan, she mentioned that she had no family...where is her family, why doesn't she have family? Why didn't Stefan ask her about her family? She knew a lot about his past and his wife's illness and death. I felt the story moved too fast in the beginning from D/s to suddenly being in love Hmmmm....this story could have been so much better! The sex scenes were hot in the beginning though.
