What a completely riveting opening scene in this great romantic suspense! I nearly turned blue from holding my breath. And what a fabulous reacquainting of lost loves! The tension between Gina and Derrick is palpable throughout but there is also some great comedic relief in the bantering of the Justice siblings. This is the last book in the series so readers get to play a little bit of catch up with old friends but Dark Tide easily reads well as a standalone too. And there is something so alluring about a big tough guy who turns into a marshmallow over a baby. There's lots to recommend this book -- taut suspense, even tauter romance and a group of characters you'll come to care about. Great read

The Justice Agency: Family and law enforcement go hand in hand. DARK TIDE is the fifth book in Ms. Sleeman’s The Justice Agency series. It does stand-alone, but readers (and fans) of Ms. Sleeman’s books will want to read the entire series. I enjoyed getting to know Derrick better. He is a sweetheart, kind and considerate, and quick to think on his feet. I didn’t like Gina at first, but as she shared more information about herself and her past I started to like her more. I decided that heroine’s in these books have to be a special breed because I would be dead the first time the bad guy tries to kill me. But they seem to survive multiple attacks. Really impressive. I enjoyed reading DARK TIDE and finding out more about Derrick and what information Gina’s deceased brother was hiding. I especially wondered how they’d solve it and prove the guy guilty—especially since she gave him everything he asked for in the first attack. A must-keep-reading book that kept me on the edge of my seat. $5.99. 224 pages. I hate for this series to end because I have enjoyed each book. Derrick Justice gets his story told in this one. Can they work together while Derrick and his family seek to protect her and her orphaned niece as they seek to learn who killed her brother and why the murderer is now trying to get her? Will the past constantly threaten to control the future? How can Derrick keep her safe while protecting his own heart? The one thing none of them anticipated his how quick and hard Derrick falls for Gina’s baby niece, whom he affectionately calls Bug. I enjoyed the scenes when he was taking care of Bug. But, all is not well with the rest of the Justice family. They remember how much he was hurt when Gina left him before and fear she will do the same thing again. If I was ever in a life-threatening situation, I would want a group like the Justice Agency on my side. Each one seems to have a special set of skills that complements those of everyone else. The life lessons about who and what we allow to control our lives are lessons worth learning.

Gina Evans had no where else to turn, she doe not really want to rely on Derrick but feels she has no other option. This novel is full of suspense, mystery, family and of course romance. Once again if you like FBI/PI type romance books you will love this one.

I've said it before and I'll say it again, Susan Sleeman is the queen of inspirational suspense. She always hits the ground running and continually ratchets up the suspense and intrigue with each chapter. I love her books. I discovered her after she'd already had many books out, so I'm backtracking. This one is the last in her 5 books Justice Agency series. The last Justice sibling, Derrick, gets his turn with this one. We see all the others again, too, which is awesome. I love this family! Wow the last book in the series This series is so good that I am going to put it on my must keep books. You know the book that you read that was so good that you keep with your special books to read again. The characters in this series seem so real. It is like sitting in their living room and watching their lives take place. If you haven’t read any of Ms Sleeman, give them a try. They will have you hooked.

I just finished the last book in the Justice Agency series, Dark Tide, by Susan Sleeman. Each book got better and better in the series because I was able to learn more about the family, the siblings, and their lives. Therefore, even though I felt like I fit in with them right from the start, with Book #1, Double Exposure, each book brought me closer and closer to the heart of each sibling and therefore, closer to the family as a whole. Therefore, even though I felt like I fit in with them right from the start, with Book #1, Double Exposure, each book brought me closer and closer to the heart of each sibling and therefore, closer to the family as a whole. Ms. Sleeman has a way with words. She writes in such a way that I’m sitting on the couch next to Gina or rubbing Sophia’s back while she closes her eyes and sucks her thumb, content on Derrick’s shoulder. I can see the protectiveness in Kat’s eyes and feel the humorous banter back and forth between Dani and Derrick. I can see the love pass between Luke and Dani and Kat and Mitch across the computer screen. And I can taste the coffee that they consume pot after pot. The spiritual element isn’t lost in the depths of the suspense and great story either. I love how Ms. Sleeman uses events in the character’s past to help bring them to where God wants them today - a place of healing. However, it’s a process and even though they make progress, they aren’t necessarily “cured” by the end of the book - just like in real life. Layers are peeled away to expose new layers that require less healing, but healing nonetheless. I’m sad to see this series wrap up; yet I didn’t feel like it was “over” when I turned the last page. It was satisfying and written in such a way that I still felt connected, as though I would see them again someday. I probably won’t but they have a way of staying with me, like friends from high school that you don’t see for years but you know are still around and you treasure the memories you have of them. In the meantime, I can’t wait to be introduced to a new set of characters from Ms. Sleeman in another series or book. She is an author I truly love to read.

Working together with the rest of Derrick's family, they just need to solve the mystery of who killed Gina's brother, why they did it, and why they're now coming after Gina. If anyone can solve this, it's the Justice Agency. Unlike most oft he other readers, I came in to Dark Tide without reading any of the other books in the Justice Agency series. Dark Tide is the fifth, and last, book. While Dark Tide does stand alone, I do wish I had read the previous four books, so that I could have fallen in love with the Justice family, like everyone else has, while I did not need to read the rest of the series first, I feel like I would have enjoyed Dark Tide more if I had. The story was suspenseful, with a nice dash of romance. The spiritual aspects of the story were well done and not overly preachy. My favorite part of the story was the close-knit Justice family. I did like the bantering between siblings and how they all pulled together. I liked how loyal they were to one another, even though I do think they were a little too hard on Gina at first. I recommend this for fans of Christian suspense, especially if you've been following the series. Disclosure: I received a copy of this book from the publisher, in exchange for an honest review.

Sophia is a scene stealer. She is only 7 months old and has already lost her parents in two separate car accidents. Gina is scared and turns to her former boyfriend to ask for help finding her brothers killer and keeping her niece safe. I like her she is smart, changed her life when her sister-in-law died to help her brother. Derrick has issues in his past and he is afraid to commit to a relationship. They had a tough break up. The setting is California modern day This is full of mystery, action and drama. It is also a clean romance book. I smiled a lot to the different characters who were having fun with the baby. It is also a Christian romance not afraid to bring up a scripture or a prayer when needed. Not preaching just something the character would do and say naturally. I am sad to see this series ends and hopes Susan keeps writing. I will continue to look for her books in the future. Once again Susan Sleeman has done a great job of developing wonderful characters that are carrying very heavy emotional baggage from their pasts. They are very likeable and easy to connect with. I found myself encouraging them (sometimes audibly) to just let go of the past and move on. Both Derrick and Gina had to travel down their own path to work out their stuff while at the same trying to catch the killer before anyone else lost their life. The plot for the mystery was great. I love the way there is a great balance between adrenaline rush inducing action/danger sections and incredible character building times. I received a free copy of this book from the author in order to read and write an honest review for it.

This is the 5th book in The Justice Agency series and my first read of Susan Sleeman's work. I had not read the previous books about the Justice siblings but this book was not difficult to follow as a stand-alone read. Gina calls her ex-boyfriend Derrick when she is almost killed by an unknown assailant. I love second-chance-at-romance stories so I really enjoyed their story. Both of them had serious issues with trust and commitment due to wounds/past events. They kept fighting their attraction for so long but the danger, a cute baby, and their relationship with God kept drawing them closer together. I enjoyed the suspense part of the story, trying to figure out who was after Gina and why kept me turning the pages. Even though this book can be read on its own, I think I would have enjoyed reading the previous books about the Justice siblings. I enjoyed their bantering/teasing together and the last scene with all the Justice siblings and their spouses/kids seemed like a great way to end this series. Enjoyable romantic suspense!

Derrick and Gina's story touched my heart -- making it beat faster during those inevitable scary times and making it slow in awe as they worked out their feelings for one another. I love happily-ever-afters, and this is one series I will miss. I have come to "know" the Justice brothers and sisters, and each story has touched me in a unique way. ***I received the above book from the pu I've read every single one of The Justice Agency Series books and have loved every one. Dark Tide By Susan Sleeman This is the latest in the series The Justice Agency. The others are 1. Double Exposure 2. Dead Wrong 3. No Way Out 4. Thread of Suspicion I have not read the first 4, but I do have them, and why I read Dark Tide first I have no idea. Its a series about a family called Justice. Its a great read, full of action and suspense, great characters.

Dark Tide is the last book in the Justice Agency series. I enjoyed meeting this family and will miss reading about their experiences. In this book, Derrick Justice is asked to help his ex-girlfriend Gina and his baby niece who is an orphan. Derrick is still in love with Gina. Derrick gets help from the rest of the Justice family and Author Susan Sleeman wraps up all the stories in this last book.
