Wolves are born to breed. And Mila's blood was some of the rarest and most coveted, the most arousing, regal…powerful. Yet, she lives alone; hiding in America since childhood as a refugee of a great den war, having already watched everyone she's ever cared about die around her. She refuses to give into the urges of her wolf blood and allow herself to change, especially as Wolves are born to breed. And Mila's blood was some of the rarest and most coveted, the most arousing, regal…powerful. Yet, she lives alone; hiding in America since childhood as a refugee of a great den war, having already watched everyone she's ever cared about die around her. She refuses to give into the urges of her wolf blood and allow herself to change, especially as she would then become a beacon to the wolf that, years ago as a child, marked her against her will. And worse, she would want to be found. Becoming the wolf could mean losing the will of her own heart. Still, she is done running and ready to take a stand. When Landon wanders onto her property hunting the wolves responsible for his parents' death, she allows the wounded human to recover in her home against her better judgment. They soon discover they share a common enemy, and an attraction unlike anything the strong, stubborn and powerful young blueblood has ever experienced. But when the looming battle descends upon them, they must both learn to trust each other if they want to survive. This is an adult book, not recommended for young readers.

I received this book free in exchange for an honest review. (Lovers of Paranormal, r2r) Let me tell you, after the first chapter I was hooked. Action right from the get go, and it didn't stop. Amy Bol's writing is so vivid, so easy to take in, that it evokes imagery effortlessly...and the characters? How can you not fall in love with them. Mila is such a strong lead, it's refreshing and welcome. I read the blurb at the end for the next book, and I'm basically dancing on the spot in anticipation!   I received this book free in exchange for an honest review. I mean, how hard did I hit my head?' Favourite quote 'Some family members are chosen for us and others we choose ourselves, but they are all still family.' Awesome! Absolutely awesome. Recommend to everyone.

Talk about secrets kept! If you haven’t heard of Draw of the Bane by Amy Bol, listen up, I was blown away with this storyline, the characters, the writing style, pretty much all of it! My least favorite part? It ended and I wasn’t ready to stop reading! Okay my very least favorite part was what happened to Bartok. Mila lives alone, off the grid, because she hides a secret, a huge secret, a secret that others have died to protect, for her. With only Bartok by her side, she lives a solitude existence until Landon shows up, and tries to save her from a wolf attack. Now battered, bruised, and near death, Landon becomes Mila’s unwelcome guest. Landon is on a mission to discover what REALLY happened to his mother. He does not believe she was killed, he believes in the things that go bump in the night, he believes in the myths of werewolves. And he wants answers and payback. What these two find is a love/hate relationship that that is almost scalds your brain! Mila hides her true nature well, but there are those who want her, need her for the power she would provide and they are closing in. How does she protect herself and Landon, who has fallen into the middle of this drama without revealing herself and becoming an object of Landon’s hate? When the final showdown comes, who will be left standing, will they be alone, who will perish and who will walk away? No one will be left untouched… Amy Bol can write! The romance sizzles, the plot is always in motion, there is mystery, tension, and great background was fed with perfect timing! Add a dark, broody feel and two very strong main characters who have the banter/dialogue down pat and the requisite villains and Draw of the Bane hits the top of my hidden gem pile! 4.5 STARS!!!! HOLY Shit!! What. The. Fuck.Did.I.Just.Read???? This book was sooooo damn good!! It was so original, not your typical paranormal and it had such an intriguing concept... This book starts off with Mila wandering through the woods where she happens upon a group of wolves.. Apparently these wolves are not just any wolves, they have their own humanity, well sort of. As she is about to take flight to get away from them, Landon steps up to try and protect her but in the end it is Mila who 4.5 STARS!!!! HOLY Shit!! What. As she is about to take flight to get away from them, Landon steps up to try and protect her but in the end it is Mila who saves his life... The action does not stop there though.. even after Mila helps Landon he wants to repay her in some way... (I was all for him helping her vagina, I mean that girl needed to get laid and quick)... She reluctantly agrees but wants Landon out of there as soon as possible. It isn't until an unexpected visitor comes knocking on Mila's door that Landon decides she needs him more than she is letting on.... This time Landon puts his foot down.. Mila knows she is in trouble.. I know I am being kind of vague but I can't ruin the magic of this story... The author does such an amazing job with taking you on a journey with the characters, feeding you little pieces of information but not giving away the important stuff until later on in the book. It isn't drawn out either, she gives you the right amount to keep you invested and not frustrated from the unanswered questions.. I was eager and ready to get to the end of this story, not because I wanted it to end, but I needed to know what was going to happen. There was so much action, swoon, an ancient story, that leaves your mind enriched in information. Plus, even though it is paranormal (because people cannot become wolves-duh) the author makes it seem real, as if it could really happen. She gives you history and intertwines it in the story with legends and family trees that has your mind reeling with "what ifs" and possibilities.. There was also steam.. Oh MY Gosh was there steam between Landon and Mila! I swooned, I got teary eyed, laughed, and some parts had me panting in anticipation with what was about to happen. There was also so much build up, no quick jump in the sac, the author teases you and lets you build enough sexual tension within yourself before she lets you release it.. I was seriously on edge, waiting, anticipating, I may or may not have tried to hump the husband's leg, just salivating until I hit the good shit.. You know the good shit... Where you want to imagine yourself in that situation.. Yeah that good shit.. and it was GOOOODDD.. The legends, myths, families... everything was so well put together and no stone was left unturned.. I knew everything and then when it wrapped up I was craving more..BUT the best part was; it did not leave off on a cliffhanger, you get a complete story and get everything answered!! I can't wait to see what happens with Landon and Mila next I give this book between 4-5 so 4.5 and if you want a to read a different paranormal story with a very intriguing concept then YOU NEED TO READ THIS BOOK!!! HELL, even if you do not care for paranormal books, this is still so GREAT that you will LOVE it anyway!! Lucky for you, there is a giveaway I am having and the author gave us a copy of this magnificent book.

Other times again i found myself really wondering what in the name of god was happening. i really got bumped Bartok died. this book left me confused and with lots of questions and though the end was not abrupt or anything it kind of let me frustrating over all the things i want to learn still it was one of those books that you definetely want to read the next one cause you have to know what is going on. I am giving this book 3 stars only cause of the confusion it caused me...but its definetely a book to read!

There was not much romance in their relationship. When the villain was revealed, it did not thrill me. I actually thought it was going to be another character from the heroine's past. The villain basically just wants power and to break away from the established order of things. One scene that just did not make sense to me was: They are waiting for the werewolves to attack and have sex. Totally not the time or place for that. The Story: Mila and her wolf Bartok are out checking their traps. As they are doing this, they encounter three wolves devouring a rabbit. As the wolves start to take a threatening stance, a man with a gun comes out of nowhere and fights them off. Landon, the hero, is injured so Mila takes him back to her cabin to recuperate. After a couple of days, he recovers and begins to help her around her property. One day, a stranger appears and asks for directions. He says his name is John and he is with a hunting party. Mila gives him directions and he leaves. After the stranger leaves, Landon decides to come clean with Mila as to his real reason for hunting in her woods. He is after the stranger who asked directions. He is the one who kidnapped his mother. After his mother went missing, he tracked her down and she told him she had no choice but to leave. She was taken to breed with the Alpha of the pack. She tells him she is a werewolf and tells him when she changes to kill her. He kills her, but continues to live with the guilt. Landon tells Mila she should leave for her safety. She tells him she will not leave. Mila tells him she knows about the werewolves and have fought them before. Her uncle taught her everything she knows. She proceeds to show him the weapons stash she has hidden beneath her barn. It is then that they both realize that the werewolves will be back. So, they devise a plan to battle against them. The rest of the book deals with Mila and Landon's relationship and the plan to defeat the werewolves. Overall, a disappointing read for me.

I am totally sucked into this new series. I am a big paranormal romance fan and I have been looking for a new one to fall in love with. Well this is it!!!!! The storyline was truly a unique and interesting take on the oh so boring and played out vampire love story. I like how the author does a complete story on wolves. Typically it's always vampire and wolves, rarely do you find a story that the wolves are the main focus. I was hoping that they would get together the entire story. The characters are strong and likable. Amy does a fantastic job with getting you to completely understand their background so the story is easy to follow. Mila is a true loner and lives completely self sufficently after her Aunt and Uncle pass away. She knows that deep within her there is a wolf that she has managed to contain and not let out. Landon witnessed his mother being killed and knew that something was not quite right about her disappearance and death. He is trying to get answers about his mother and father's death when he gets too close to the wolves he is tracking. Mila rescues him and lets him recover in her home against her better judgement. From here these two develope a love hate relationship. You are kept wondering if these two will ever get past their differences long enough to fall in love. There is so much more to this story besides the developing love story. There is an epic battle that will get you so sucked in you will not be able to put the book down until you find out what the out come is. Will Mila and Landon get together and survive the battle that is looming? You must read to find out. There is also a sneak peak of the second book at the end which I did not read. I reluctantly refrained from reading it so that I can anxsiously await the next installment.

I have seen this author mentioned before so when the opportunity came for a chance to read her novel jumped on board. During the aide he himself gets bit and she comes to him and instead of thanking her for being there to help him he tells he to kill him. Odd thing to say when this person is there to help eh? Landon is the man who will become no more a stranger to her in her journey which until this time had become her own after deaths of loved ones, little does he realize just how the course of his journey is no longer alone either. One of the intriguing things I realize right away that makes this novel alittle different than most is it has a hearty story withing the pages with a romance that blossoms. You learn exactly who she is and how different she is from most. You learn what the journey is he is on and what started it. When these two paths cross it becomes a journey done together reading themselves for a battle that will be fought to the death because there will be no more running from the truth. Hard truths uncovered but love has a way with using it for good especially when it will mean alot to who will stand by whom and for how long. A interesting legacy presented and told that is the heart of this path that corralled these two who also will be used to right some wrongs. It also tells how love can see no matter the mask or circumstances it has the ability to reveal what no physical eye can see most times. Anticipation is indeed in this novel that keeps you riveted to keep reading till the final outcome. Received a arc for a honest review (LOP-Lovers of the Paranormal).

She has this instant attraction to him and it makes her uncomfortable. After he saved her life, he was injured, so she brought him back to her place so she could tend to him. She only expected for him to stay for a few days, but after hearing his story he ends up staying longer and they decide to help each other. Now here's where I was a little surprised. This started out not like all the other paranormal books I've read. Normally it starts off where you know at least one of the main characters is a paranormal, but not here. Mila definitely surprised me, she wasn't what I expected at all. And hearing about her past, I can totally understand why she wants to help Landon so much. After the shock of what Mila really is, Landon soon realizes she is completely different from what he is hunting. They start to come up with a plan to get rid of the threat, and that's when things start to get interesting. The pull between Landon and Mila becomes so strong, something that they aren't able to fight against. At the end, Mila has to make a important choice. What will she decide to do? Will she stay with Landon, someone she obviously really cares about. Or will she go with her nature and go to the one who claimed her against her will long ago? I thoroughly enjoyed this book! It wasn't your typical paranormal story and I really liked that. Amy does a great job of connecting you to the characters (be they animal or human). I really can't wait to read more from Amy!

Can Mila and Landon work together to defeat a foe that threatens them both and still maintain the feelings growing between them or will things fall apart and Mila’s greatest fear become reality? I really enjoyed this first book in Amy Bol’s The Blueblood Legacies series. I really enjoyed Mila and Landon’s characters. At the beginning they both felt wooden but as the novel goes they really become real. Both characters grow as the story progresses. I loved their little love story but I wonder how their love will continue into the next book. With things we learn in the first book it makes it almost feel like their love story maybe a bit fatalistic though I personally am rooting for them. The story itself is quite unique and a different take on the werewolf mythology. I like a lot of paranormal romance and this is definitely one I can’t wait to continue. I am eagerly waiting for the next book. If you like a good werewolf story and want to start an intriguing new series then definitely get your hands on Draw of the Bane.

Glad i read it!!" So this story is about Mila who is alone. She lives by on her farm with her wolf and they basically exist. There isn't anything fancy or exciting. They just live off the grid kinda thing. Well Mila is out hunting when she runs into Landon and saves him. He was bitten trying to hunt some wolves . He begs her to kill him but she wont. She takes him to her house (against her wolfs better judgement) and he gets better. The two begin to do the "love dance" while trying to fight off some bad people. The story is written so amazingly. The writing is done so well I was stunned at how fast I was flying through the pages. I couldn't put it down and when I finished I was sad. i wanted more and am glad there will be more to this great start to the series.

I'm not usually drawn to wolf books when I read paranormal-I'm more of a vampire and witch kind of reader. I won a copy of Draw of the Bane in a giveaway, and even though I have a ton of other books sitting in my Kindle app unread and on my TBR list, when the author sent this to me I decided to immediately start reading...and I'm glad I did. I really like Mila's character, she's strong, smart and sassy. I hadn't read the synopsis before starting the book, I'd just heard a little about it from others, so I was unaware of Mila's true nature...so I was pleasantly surprised when I discovered it as I read since the way she was written in the beginning of the book doesn't reveal it. And Landon...I've already added him to my BBF list. The only issue I have with the book is the one thing I see a lot of with indie authors-grammar and editing errors. It was present enough for me to take a full star away from my rating since almost every page had something that should have been fixed during the editing process (missing/wrong words--it's a vial not a "vile"; homophone mix-ups, etc). I almost took off another half star for the story being a bit on the wordy side, but decided I wouldn't have known the world the author created as well as I did if it wasn't like that. Definitely looking forward to the next book in the series.

He walks into a clearing when Mila is surrounded by three wolves. He shoots one and tells her to go back to her cabin. She doesn't listen and it was great thing she did because she saved Landon's life. It seems that they both have secrets that they are keeping from each other. I really hope that Landon turns out to be the person I think he is. Maybe that is just wishful thinking on my part. This book is very exciting and I couldn't have asked for a better book if I had the chance to. I know that there are several secrets that are left to unveil. I can't wait until the next book comes out. There is a magic between Mila and Landon and you can feel it as you read the book. The scene that made Mila change the future that she wanted was so exciting. It did have some sad parts in it that I wished hadn't happened. The little look that you get at the next book makes you want to read it now. The author made a great book and one that seemed like it could really happen.

You not only fall in love with Mila and Landon, but also with Bartok. I was glad that at the end it was not her mate that was looking for her but a minor Sub. Although I’m terrified when her mate comes and finds them. I do have a few questions but I hope that they are answer in the next books. If Landon mom was a pure bread then he must also be a wolf, right? Is Emile, really cruel and evil? Is Landon, Mila’s true love?

I received a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review I do love a good shifter story, you know the type hunky Alpha men and smexy but usually submissive women, who just happen to be able to turn themselves into wolves, big cats, bears etc at the drop of the hat whilst indulging in all kinds of naughty "adult" action and the odd ripping a rival's throat out for good measure. Know the kind of story I mean? OK so if that's what you are looking for then maybe this isn't the book for you. Amy Bol's story is a darker, violent, very powerfully written journey into the paranormal world of werewolves where good needs to conquer evil and one bite can change your life forever. Into this she builds a very interesting interpretation of world history based on the battles to divide up land by four separate werewolf clans and the knock-on effect that this has on the lives of Mila (the female lead character) and Landon (the male lead). At times I thought I could guess what was going to happen next, who the baddy was, that kind of thing but this story has more twists than a piglet's tail although it does end on an HEA. This is the first book in her new series (The Blueblood Legacies) and if the short excerpt from Book 2 that appears at the end of the book proves to be as good a story then I can't wait :)

Not a bad start. Of course the romance between Mila and Landon was predictable, that happens when you only have 2 characters for a majority of the story. I thought Draw of the Bane set the series up nicely for the next book. Nothing to exciting happen but it did keep my interest as it went at a nice steady pace. I understand uptight and secretive Mila but I really started to enjoy the story when she showed some of her personality and relaxed a bit with Landon. I did like however that if you say you are one of biggest, baddest bloodlines around be ready to prove it. Mila did not disappoint thank goodness. I hate when characters are hyped up to be so bad and then they give me nothing but getting their butts whipped. The book could have used one more look over with some fresh eyes also to catch some of the missed errors. I read the excerpt for the next book and I think that one will be where things get more interesting. (I was given this book to read in exchange for an honest review. It was a really lovely thing to read and see. I feel that this book is a great opener to a whole world of shape shifting storeys, stories from the packs, stories from the council and the old bloodline, as Mila said "there is also good werewolves that can control themselves," it would be interesting to see different stories from the different dens and how the different Alphas have to come together. I would love to hear the story about the mother and father prequel maybe. I felt the ending finished to soon, I hope we see more of Mila and Landon, as it was certainly left on a cliff-hanger. I would definitely recommend it as an opening book to what could be a great series, thank you. xxx

This book had such an intriguing concept and no insta-love but there is instant attraction. Mila is wandering through the woods and comes upon a group of wolves. There was plenty of steam between Landon and Mila! The hot stuff on the sofa leading to an explosive announcement by Mila was fabulous!!!! I got a lump in my throat, I laughed, and at some points I was fanning my face from the heat!!! There was so much build up to the sexual scenes, there no quick jump in the sack. There is also no cliff hanger to make you have to read the next instalment, it is a fully fledged book, HEA and all.

I have to admit I am not a huge fan of "wolf" books. However, I was looking for a change of pace and drawn to this one after a great blogger (Book Trollop) recommended it. I was pleasantly surprised how much I enjoyed this book! It flowed well and there was action from the first pages. Mila was a strong female lead character but possessed just enough vulnerability to make her interesting. Of course, Landon was hotness on a stick! The minute he named Mila "Smalls, I was hooked! The real question now is do you want to follow me back, have things changed?" "How could I tell you that the thing you hate so much lives inside me?"

I was given this book in exchange for an honest review, Lovers of Paranormal. This was slightly different to the expected wolf shifters type book. Mila had never changed into a wolf before. For some time we were unaware where the wolf story would be. The plot was good and flowed well, becoming more exciting as the tale unfolded. The characters were great and well written with the relationship between the two leads handled well and not overdone. Better editing would have made the book even better - I was given this book in exchange for an honest review, Lovers of Paranormal. Better editing would have made the book even better - 'vile' used instead of 'vial' was very irritating as it was used frequently. Just silly errors easily noticed that detracted from the story at times that could so easily have been fixed. I enjoyed the book and look forward to the next instalment. A great read for paranormal lovers!

***I received this book in exchange for an honest review, Lovers of Paranormal.*** I was pleasantly surprised, I really enjoyed it. Firstly, I just have to get this out of my system: BARTTTOKKK! I love when the romance is slow building and there's a bit of a chase, those feel like the most genuine. I'm interested to see how Emile will fit into the scene. I can't wait to see what will happen next! 4 stars.

I got this book for doing an honest review thanks to LOP. I found this book to be very interesting although it was a bit slow for my taste as their relationship and the action didnt happen till later on in the book. 4 out of 5 stars First of all this book is not the usual genre that I read but was quickly drawn into the relationship of Mila and Landon. In order to save himself and his mother he had to do the unthinkable and kill her. Both are marked for different reasons by the same wolves. Can they trust each other as they prepare for the attack as well as their growing attraction towards each other? Will they survive together or will they be torn apart? We can only speculate. It was a nice read.

A nice little paranormal romance novel. There were some editing issues, including a few instances of mistaking your and you're, but overall, a pretty well written book with a rewarding story and satisfying ending. Landon is certainly no slouch, but if I had to choose the alpha here, it's Mia.

I really enjoyed this book. Most books romanticize werewolves, and this story does not. However, it is a story with a strong love of family. I love Mila, she is a very strong woman. Landon is one of those characters that you just cannot help falling in love with him. He is sweet, caring and someone who true to himself. There are some unexpected twists and turns. Mila has some suprises that Landon never saw coming. This is a great book, I recommend it to anyone who enjoys a great paranormal story I really enjoyed this book.
