Just as Fiona was beginning to drown in the tiny sea that she called her world, though, lymphatic lymphoma whisked Tommy away, shoving her parents into a sheer panic and leaving Logan to lose himself in a deep depression. Shocked by her little brother’s quick and unexpected passing, Fiona suddenly feels grateful for the tall walls that separate her and her little town from the rest of the world and embraces what little innocence and naivety she has left… Three years pass and only one photograph of Tommy can be found in Fiona Kent’s house. Though their small-minded neighbors had eventually stopped gossiping about her brother’s death, Fiona was well aware that the rest of her family had made little progress. Logan was still caught up in the dark, deathly winds of his depression and her parents acted as if Tommy had never been born at all. All of that changes, though, when Fiona discovers a black, blank-covered book in the dark, unexplored realms of her basement. Searching through the book’s yellow-tinged pages, Fiona discovers jaw-dropping letters written to Tommy by an ancient, nineteenth century prodigy known by the name of Sophia Grant. Determined to prove Sophia’s wild and accusatory predictions about her precious, deceased brother wrong, Fiona snaps Logan out of his depression, brings the mysterious book to the attention of her two best friends, and begins the unforgettable journey of a lifetime.

The first you gotta know about this book is it's apart of a series :) So this is the first book xD That's it ;) Before reading this book, I was wondering why wouldn't anyone write a book that seperated perspectives of a boy and a girl xD 'cause mostly people just write about boy and boy or girl and girl :\ TADAAAAAA x] Found that in this book :P At the begining, I can tell the author had stunningly beautiful pictures in her head. When she transform those pictures into words, I'm glad that she described every detail, maybe she thought that would be helpful for the readers to illustrate the scenes in their heads. However, too much sometimes can become a confusion. In addition, some okay-ideas overwhelmed the very -powerful-ideas, I think it will be better if the author choose the certain greatest ones and focus on them instead of many ideas at a time :\ On the other hands, eventhough the beginning struggle a little bit, I found myself hooked in the book lately *and once you're hooked, you can't stop ;)* . It has growth to become a very attractive and spectacular book! At the intesive parts, whether it's romantic type of intesity or evently intesity, I didn't even dare to look at anything else. I DON'T WANT TO MISS ANY SINGLE DETAIL! There were some parts really creepy, the mood and the setting absolutely was chosen with high consideration or at least they are all very suitable and helpful!* I got chill across my backbone* .___. In contrast, the little romance moment, well I mean moments between a boy and a girl *you figure the rest* were very cute and very teeny. They were lovely and cute! :3 *awww :") asdfghjkl; ♥* While reading, I was stopping and admiring the diversity of words .The book contained the world's word treasure! It's intelligent, interesting, brilliant comparations and very well sense of valuation coupled with emotion. The author can find beautiful ways to describe a color, an object, or anything. Like she knows exactly which word should go with which to make an incredible pair :) The emotions of different characters were indicated smoothly. I can feel the happiness of reunion as well as little drops of bitterness, that they shattered my heart, like how they broke Fiona's, Logan's, Kyle's and Taylor's hearts. I don't know why, with other books, I usually picture other people as the characters; maybe famous actors, singers, or my friends. But with this particular book, I felt myself, and all my imagination dreams were in it. I don't know did you - the author - do it, but your book made me feel very special , like I was apart of it and it was apart of me, and how I wished I was in it. About the characters, the author has built a male character succesfully. It was a surprise since I usually think female author can't never extract the raw feelings, thoughts and everything in between of a male character. Vice versa. Yet I admit that I love Kyle and Logan, and somehow it was a big win for this book because both of them were very full and completely insightful. When it was overed, I was whyyyyyyy whyyyyyyyy whyyyyyy? OMG NOOOOOO! Anyway, I'm really looking forward to read the second book :) P/S: The decription of food made me hungry T T

Detailed Review: ARC received by author My first impression of the book was that it was going to be a sad story about life and how unfair it was. But then I was thrown off track with the existence of the nameless black book that described Tommy's life so perfectly. The language used in the black book, in contrast with the author's narrative skills, was beautiful and convincing. It truly convinced me that another person had written about Tommy's life. One thing though that dissatisfied me were some of the errors in the book but I can understand because it's an ARC and there would be more edits before the book is published. But the errors did break the flow of the book and slightly affected my enjoyment level. The author's take on romance was quite good and showed the desires and hopes of both Kyle and Fiona and how the black book had altered their lives and their relationship. Felt has managed to describe the impact of an object on people's lives with perfection. This book was one of the few contemporaries I'd read so far and I envy how the author can mix in different genres so easily and without breaking a sweat- but you'll never know maybe she really did sweat over it. -wink- I'm sure you've noticed the lack of spoilers, but I've made a vow to never spoil a book for anyone ever again unless I'm asked to. Life's a mystery. Discover it yourself. Same goes with books. Brief Review: Original and emotional: this is possibly the best things to look for in a book. Heart-breaking, refreshing and thought-provoking, the book was a great read. The author is brave to consider weaving both the elements of contemporary and fantasy and mystery together but she really did a great job. I'm impressed. Final Rating: 4.5/5 'Really Liked It' QUOTE: To Logan, who couldn't accept his twin brother's death, here's some advice. In three words I can sum up everything I can I've learned about life; it goes on------Robert Frost

Big thank you to Kaitlyn for a copy for review This was such a fun read. It definitely had the mystery aspect, and kind of reminded me of the tv show Ghostwriter. I found myself guessing and wanting to help research right along side the characters. I loved that little group or as I came to call the "The Core Four", which consisted of Fiona and her brother Logan, and Kyle and his sister Taylor. It was enjoyable to see them all come together and become this little investigative team. While reading t Big thank you to Kaitlyn for a copy for review This was such a fun read. It was enjoyable to see them all come together and become this little investigative team. While reading this book I found my favorite characters to be Logan and Taylor. With Logan, he was so depressed, and unsure in the beginning, but by the end of the novel he really became stronger and more confident, plus he was just a cutie. Now Taylor was funny, and I loved her wit and sarcasm, especially when it came to her banters with her brother Kyle. Fiona, Fiona.. Where did that girl from the beginning of the book go? Towards the end I wanted to tell her to get her but out of that BED! She was really letting her fears get to her and that made me sad. Then there is Kyle, who was patient, caring, understanding, and just the right guy for Fiona. The ending has no cliffhanger thank-goodness, but definitely leaves me wanting more of their adventure. Felt is able to seamlessly flow the two POV's together without it becoming confusing. At times though I felt there was sometimes too much description of a character or details about how they did something. This could be a matter of personal preference though. While some will appreciate more detail in describing something or someone I myself prefer a little less. The author was very good though in expressing raw emotion with the characters and I enjoyed that. Also, I very much liked the mystery aspect the author created. I found myself continuously wanting to turn the page after each chapter to find out what would happen next. I love a good mystery and the author definitely has the knack for keeping you guessing. Overall I enjoyed this book. I recommend this book to anyone who enjoys a good YA mystery with a little romance sprinkled in. I look forward to reading the next book in the series.

Okay after that rant and the real reason that I gave the book 3 stars is because it ended when it peaked. I loved the book though the characters were amazing and I felt that I could feel the emotions of the characters. I enjoyed the dual POV's they really added feelings and mystery to the writing. I think the book was actually good and I liked it I just think I am still pretty upset that the book ended with a Cliffhanger when I am not sure it really needed to. The whole thing led up to this really important peak but, it ended much quicker. I will read the next book because I really really want to know what happened.

I downloaded this book on my kindle this morning. It was only $2.99, so I didn't have that high of expectations for it. Boy, was I wrong. This book is really good and I read it in one sitting! There's all sorts of genres intermixed: mystery, adventure, romance, and even a little fantasy. One would think that all of those genres mixed together would make for a messy combination, but the author did a good job of keeping the plot running smoothly. Throughout almost the whole book I desperately wanted to find out who Sophia Grant was! Taylor was one of my favorite characters because she provided a lot of comedy during all of the serious drama. Every character has a pretty distinct personality and is very relatable. I am really glad that this is the first book in a trilogy because that means I can hold onto this story for a while still. I can't wait to read the second book. If anybody knows when it comes out, let me know!

I received a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review. I really enjoyed this book. It was something new and completely different than I've read before. Ms. Kent did a wonderful job on her first novel. I wish the book was longer because I wanted to find out what happened! But I guess that's the good thing of having a sequel :) I also wish the book went into a little more detail with everything that was going on, but still really enjoyed it! Recieved through Goodreads First Reads! I enjoyed this book very much! I liked the element of mystery and I'm very excited to find out what will happen next in book two! The descriptions provided by the author were amazing and no detail was left undeveloped. I also really liked the way the story was told through two perspectives, it was really interesting and different. Recieved through Goodreads First Reads! I enjoyed this book very much!
