This book is very informative but very dense. I need to take it in bits. The holistic approach means mind, body and spirit.

3.5 stars The Whole Health system designed by Mark Mincolla is a modern adaptation of the ancient Chinese system of health. The concepts presented in this book were often fascinating, if cerebral. It is for the gems of info that I found that it gets the more positive rating it does. However, there were lots of problems with the book too. It sounded like he knew his quantum physics until he kept mixing mentions of accepted theories and facts in with unconventional interpretations and opinions. He wrote of those opinions and interpretations as if they were accepted facts. I have a physics degree, and am familiar with both the physics theories and the metaphysical theories, but even I had a hard time understanding and following his thoughts. The arrangement of the chapters and the information within each chapter also didn't seem to fall into an easily identified logical order. It felt like one long train-of-thought book. Because of this and because of the intellectual level the book is written at, it was a very hard read. Recommended for those dedicated to and experienced in alternative health. Not recommended for newcomers to the alternative health scene. Disclaimer: I received a free copy of this book through First Reads.

I have to agree with one reader/reviewer, who pointed out that this is probably not the best book to jump into if you are wanting to learn about the holistic lifestyle. I am not that big into the holistic approach but I have been slowly turning this way. I think that this more natural approach is a better way then just self medication that is currently happening. However back to the book. I found a lot of what the author was saying interesting but I had to re-read sections several times to make sense of it. The author used a lot of big words and lengthy descriptions. Even at times you could tell he was getting really into what he was talking about and would realize it and back off and quickly finish his thoughts. Still I could tell that the author was well versed in the subject matter and shared good insight. This is the type of book that you would use more as a study guide that you will reference to again and again versus one to just sit and read.

Not a fan. I agree with another reviewer that this isn't a great book if you are looking for an introduction to a holistic lifestyle (which is what I was looking for). I felt that the book was very disorganized and the author seemed to go off on tangents. I found the sections on nutrition to be most interesting while the rest of the book made me kind of roll my eyes. Sorry if that offends anyone, I just don't believe you can diagnose and treat ailments simply through energy testing. I like seein Not a fan. And maybe I'm all wrong and Dr. Mincolla is right, but I'll take my chances and continue taking my advice from the medical world.

I really liked this book! I'll be looking into alot that was written into this book and learning more about the whole health approach. It is a little hard to understand only because I'm not use to the different words and terms used, but well worth to pick it up and read it!! This book really hit on alot of spots in my life!! The author tries to cover too many disciplines and too much material in this book. As a result, I found the book to be confusing and disorganized.
