This one is based on Della; our kickass, sarcastic vamp! If you haven't read the Shadow Falls series ( starting with - Born at Midnight), i strongly advice you to read it before staring Della's books! Della Tsang and her two roommates, Kylie and Miranda, are still at Shadow Falls - a camp/boarding school for supernatural teens who are taught about their powers, and how to survive in the human world without causing catastrophe. All Della needs to focus on, is proving herself so she'll be able to join the FRU and become a paranormal investigator. She doesn't have the time for romance with Steve - a hot shapeshifter whose kisses melt her heart. But when a new vampire, Chase, shows up at Shadow Falls, Della can't help but be suspicious, as he is a mystery...one she cannot solve. But with ghosts, vampire gangs, dangerous missions and family problems, can Della prove herself as an investigator and keep her heart, and her life, intact? Reborn is in Della's (our protagonist) POV. I would say the main focus of the story is the mystery murder/ghost thing that's going on - i don't want to spoil anything. Della has to figure it out, and we go on a journey with her as a result, picking up clues here and there on the way on what we think happened. There IS a love triangle, and a glimpse of a diamond, as there was a noticeable 3rd guy interested in Della; though he only appeared once or twice, and did not have an impact what so ever. The love triangle is between Steve and Chase, although both hot and i was mostly torn between them, i admit Chase was a better developed and interesting character to read about; more of a personality to him. (view spoiler)[http://img3.wikia.nocookie.net/__cb20... (hide spoiler)] Lastly, the other major things Reborn focused on, was the relationship between Della and her loved ones; parents, relatives, and her friends. It wouldn't be a novel off Shadow Falls if it didn't. My heart warmed every time the girls got Diet Cokes and gathered at their table to 'spill their guts out'. On the other hand, i felt sympathetic reading about Della's parents, who i shall say, are rather unloving. Unlike Kaylie's books (the Shadow Falls series), Reborn actaully had a specific message of the story; women/girls are just as good as men if given a choice to prove themselves. Our Della, unfortunately had to go through a lot of sexism that happens A LOT in reality. Negatives. 1) I felt like most of the twists were very predictable; at times i guessed them on the spot, whilst wondering how stupid the character/s can be for not figuring it out already. 2) Horrendous grammar - COMMAS MISSING EVERYWHERE! 3) Derek (team Derek here) was shown or intended as a little bit of a jerk, that's what I thought at least, which made me frustrated because i no he ain't like that at all. So what are you trying to do, C.C Hunter? But Overall, I loved it! Della is such a strong, stubborn, aspiring and badass protagonist whom i couldn't get enough of. The book was exceptionally entertaining and fun - a light, fluffy and a mysterious read! Pick it up! I didn't get into it as immediately as i originally expected, and when i did the book ended, which left me feeling angry. But oh well. I.WANT.AN.ARC.SO.BAD.OF.THE.NEXT.BOOK!!! PLEASE C.C HUNTER!!!!!! Sincerely - The Critic. ********************************************************************************************************************************************************************************************************************* Reborn has a cover! And what a cover it is!!! Hell yes! We get more of our sexy Steve! Della you better still show that epic bad attitude i absolutely adore. Sarcasm would be welcomed too. And if i hear anything about Lucas and Kylie i will go mad. That d**k should have died long ago. My beautiful Derek should be the one. Coming out April 15th?!! C.C. Hunter you better be writing and fast! Otherwise, you'll hear the fans roar in rage. And so the countdown begins....

Ever since I started reading the Shadow Falls books years ago, the camp has felt like home to me and reading this series is extremely comforting and always manages to put a smile on my face with it's clever snarky humor and surprising drama. Kylie, Miranda and Della feel like old friends and I was so happy to finally read from Della's point-of-view. Della is back at Shadow Falls and she's trying to come to terms with her own family history and her father. Della learns that her father has a brother that he never talks about and to make things worse, her father is convinced that she's doing drugs. Della's life gets even more complicated when she gets caught between Perry, her old crush, and Steve, the shapeshifter who is unreasonably cocky. The Shadow Falls books are extremely addicting and Reborn is no exception; the fast-paced nature of the plot coupled with the superb humor make this book a fun, enjoyable read. The humor has never been better and C.C. Hunter's latest just might be her best YA book yet. Forget all of the other paranormal books on the market, once you start the Shadow Falls series there's no stopping until you have read them all. Forget your work, your life obligations because it's impossible to wrench your attention from C.C. Hunter's books. Reborn is similar to the other Shadow Falls books in terms of plot structure, which means that there's never a dull moment. The plot is rich in romance, drama, mystery and hilarious banter that keeps readers hooked from start to finish. I've never been so addicted to a series like I am with the Shadow Falls books because there's always something to enjoy in them. There's just something so special about Hunter's novels and I truly hope that this series gets adapted into a TV series. Reborn is full of memorable Della quotes and scenes that fans of Shadow Falls will absolutely love. This is a perfect addition to the world of Shadow Falls and it was interesting to see the camp from a whole new perspective. This book was well-worth the wait and it managed to make my bleak week a thousand times better.

I don't want another love triangle. I really don't. I understand that this is a YA book and romantic conflict is a given, but I see way too many similarities with Kylie's story already and it's becoming a re-run and a love triangle would become the center of this series AGAIN. Della is kick-ass. She has goals to accomplish, organizations to join, missions to lead, shit to figure out, family to find, people she wants to prove herself to. She realizes all this and she's been strictly "Yes I see the I don't want another love triangle. I really don't. She realizes all this and she's been strictly "Yes I see the physical attraction and yes boys are an issue, but I have bigger and more important issues to deal with right now." I like that. I have a feeling, however, that her romantic relationships will be at the forefront in the next books. When she does choose someone I want her to choose Chase. Chase challenges her, calls her on her bullshit, cares for her, and he's the type of boy that would let Della handle her own problems and wait to see if she needs help before butting in. He wouldn't stifle her growth, and I think he's the type of person who would her move into her powers and advance in the ranks of the FRU without standing in her way. He and Della have this natural chemistry and the main thing is, they are GOOD for each other. Right now, Della needs someone who can be there for her without being overwhelming. I don't think Steve can be that person, and they're slowing drifting apart. I'm curious about how this will pan out, but mostly, I'm curious about Della's journey into the world of FRU missions and how she's going to take to being a reborn. Sign me up for the next book.

No, we're vampires. And we're no more monstrous than any other species. Humans included. Good, bad, and evil isn't species-specific. Don't you ever question that.... Temporarily, I felt so annoyed by Burnett, Steve and co. for their manly behaviour. However, Della, together with Kylie and Miranda showed them that girls can fight, too! Nevertheless, the book is like the SF books - it's about friendship, love, family. Again, there is a love triangle and honestly .. I don't like Steve that much to my mind ^^' Overall, I did enjoy this book a lot, although there were some very predictable moments. 4.5 stars

Ugh, where to start.... I was just frustrated from start to finish basically. Why do Della, Miranda and Kylie insist on talking like preteens! And now that I know there will be more of him in the next book, I don't think I can read on. I was hoping for a bit more development in the characters but it was like reading a little girls diary. I rolled my eyes so effing much! Extra points for parts with Kylie

2nd time reading I like this sequel series focused on Della more than the first series about Kylie. She's a cute character, but she can be so self sacrificing and is like this perfect person who never does the wrong thing and it's hard to relate to her. Della is more realistic and gets mad, sometimes hurts others feelings. and has flaws. That makes her more likeable, seeing her mature and let people in to see her true feelings. Della Tsang is the main character of this book. She's a vampire, but her family doesn't know it yet. And she's afraid to tell them because relations between them are already strained. And this book wouldn't be as great if there wasn't a love triangle to deal with. Della has a super crush on Steve, but she's also attracted to Chase. Though she also kinda hates him, too. Della has all this to deal with plus she's training to be an investigator. However she has her two besties, Kylie and Miranda to help her through any and all problems. The dynamics between all the characters work so well together. I really like this book. So much so that I'm going to have to read the other books sooner than later. I will definitely be continuing with this series. I can't wait to read more by C.C. Hunter! Read more at http://www.toreadornottoread.net/2014...

REBORN is an absolute must-read addition to C.C. Hunter’s world of Shadow Falls, one that doesn’t require a read of the earlier books. This first novel in the new spin-off series, told from Della Tsang’s point of view, is a captivating, fun and exciting read with a number of puzzles to solve, a snarky, stubborn, fierce but very likable heroine, two swoon-worthy paranormal boys, and an ending that is a game-changer for one of its characters. Things for Della Tsang were bad enough without having abilities that seem to be on the fritz, a ghost that may or may not have attached itself to her, a cold that won’t go away, a super hot vampire that won’t leave her alone, a sexy shape-shifter that wants more than she is willing to give, a cousin that is MIA, and a camp leader that seems dead set on stopping her from working as an agent with the Fallen Research Unit. But of course that’s not all that’s going wrong. Her father has been keeping secrets that could change everything for her. She may have competition for the boy she is trying desperately not to fall for. She can’t stop being drawn toward the boy she doesn’t even like. Oh, and someone may be out to get her, for what reason she has no idea. She just hopes things can’t get any worse. C.C. Hunter delivers a story that will keep readers hooked. The writing has an easy flow that makes the pages fly. The story has all the characters that readers have come to know and love and introduces new ones that are sure to be favorites in books to come. The narrator is flawed but relatable, grumpy and yet still adorable. The plot is engaging, and with a number of questions that need answers it will be a story readers won’t want to put down until they have them. Readers looking for a story that will keep them entertained from start to finish, with characters they will easily connect with, a storyline that offers mystery, humor, and a touch of romance, will thoroughly enjoy REBORN. It’s an immensely appealing read, whether new to the series and its characters or an existing fan, and the perfect start to the Shadow Falls: After Dark series. Original GR comments: Loved Della's story. Every bit as engaging a read as Kylie's series. Could not put this book down and am so glad I have the sequel so I don't have to wait. Review TK

My only problem with this book was that Kylie wasn't the narrator. As much as I love Della, Kylie is Kylie. I don't know if it's that I relate to her better or that I'm simply more used to her character. Who names their kid Steve? I was thinking of Blues Clues every time his name popped up. That said, Della is pretty kick butt. She rocks her roll, but at the same time, has insecurities like everyone else. Della really starts to realize that her friends really do have her back. She starts to finally trust people and let them in during Reborn. Shocking secrets are revealed, about both Della's family and something... else. Meanwhile, Della has to deal with one of her greatest fears, ghosts. It's really cool seeing Della slowly overcome that fear and face it head on. A side note, Burnett, one of the lead characters who serves as guardian of the camp, can be a real poo poo head. I mean, I like him, most of the time, but I wanted to smack him in the face multiple times in this book. Also, Holiday, the faery who runs Shadow Falls, continues to be awesome. Kylie is all kinds of kick butt, and Miranda's pinkie finger does the talking for her. I always get worried about spin-off books, but Reborn did not disappoint. Whatever expectations you have, unless that Della will suddenly turn into Kylie, will be met. There is action, major romance, and lots of fun times, mixed in with regular teen issues, such as classes, friendship, family, and boys. Reborn, like C.C.'s other books, really shows friendship and how wonderful it can be. The novel is really fun and I finished it in record time. If you have not already, read the Shadow Falls series, and read Reborn when it comes out in May! 4.5 stars

Actual Rating: 4.5 I feel like I just gobbled up this book and never stopped to breath! It was so good! I've never read anything by CC Hunter before but she was recommended to me by a friend. I'm not familiar with Shadow Falls which is probably a series that came before this one. Regardless, it all made sense, there was nothing confusing about this book it was straight forward and to the point. It told a story, portrayed emotions, showed character growth and had dimensional characters to boot. I Actual Rating: 4.5 I feel like I just gobbled up this book and never stopped to breath! The main character already knew she was a vampire so we didn't have to go through the discovery and info-dump phase. I thought there was just the right amount of love triangle in this book to make it believable. It wasn't over the top and the guys didn't act buddy buddy with each other. It was obvious that they didn't like one another and were in some soft of competition for Della's attention but when it came down to keeping her safe they were on the same page. I didn't think there was anything special about Steve and wish she would drop him. I feel like he's just "comfortable" for her but she needs to break out of her shell and explore those feelings for Chase. He seems like a better fit to me. That scene where she (view spoiler)[ delivered the baby in the car was out of control... She cut the umbilical cord with a piece of floss?!? I was gagging when I read that. (hide spoiler)] I definitely saw Della grow from the beginning of this book, both in her vampire skills and her life skills as a person. I loved all the characters! Her best friends were exactly what she needed and kept her grounded. Their tendency to discuss drama while drinking diet coke was funny. I wonder if she will ever tell her family and if her dad already knows about the Vampire world. I will definitely be reading the next one!

I received an ARC of this book to read and give an honest review. Reborn was my first taste of C.C Hunters writing. I was definitely drawn in from the first page and could read this book for hours. I fell in love with all of the characters right off the bat and the way the book was written allowed me to put myself in Della’s shoes. This book is a great representation of a young adult novel because of the teenage side of Della that was brought into play on this story without being overly cheesy. This book is a great representation of a young adult novel because of the teenage side of Della that was brought into play on this story without being overly cheesy. In addition, there was a great voice in this story, it made for such a fun read to be able to hear all of Della’s snarky thoughts and really experience the book as if you were her. The only major problem I have with this book was the absence of some details that you would probably find in previous books from the Shadow Falls series that are necessary to fill in some gaps in the storyline. That way, if this is your introduction to the Shadow Falls world (like it was for me), the book would make more sense. That being said, I loved the progression of the book and I didn’t feel like there were any filler parts to this novel. Everything that was in the book was there for a purpose. From the first page you knew something was up with Della and you just felt a climax building up throughout the book. And let me tell you C.C. Hunter did not disappoint! This book was tied together flawlessly with no major holes being left open. There is minor cliff hanger that the end that definitely leaves the reader craving more! This was a great introduction the series and I’m excited to see where these books go! http://fandomsaddict.wordpress.com/20...

I was so annoyed while reading this story that I almost gave up and didn't finish. I felt like I was dropped into the middle of a story without explanation as to what was happening. The premise of this paranormal world is great. The characters are interesting, and the author's writing is excellent. The best shadowfalls book so far. I love Della and her stubborn attitude. All of Hunter's characters are wonderful and this book had all of them. Kylie sometimes infuriated me with her complaining, Della has a take charge attitude that gets her into more trouble then she intends. Burnett and Della's fight's are so funny and the love triangle in this story I liked better than Kylie's love interests. Throughout this book we see Della Tsang's struggle to be thought of as equal to the male agents. As a woman, we have many struggles in life to be seen as equal to guys, so the plot was very realistic. This plot wasn't missing anything but I thought the book overall was missing some action, which brought the book in my eyes down to four star. I feel the setting helps reiterate the plot, since it's taken at the FRI headquarters. I feel the setting helps reiterate the plot, since it's taken at the FRI headquarters. From the characters standpoint, each of the characters had their own individual issues going on in their lives, which made them a lot more relatable to everyday people, even if we are talking about of supernaturals. Each of the characters had their own quirks which makes them super likeable, and in the book the author goes more into depth about Della's parents which makes the readers understand why Della makes some of the decisions she does. The author takes a serious tone towards the inequalities between women and men. On a lighter note, she outlines the struggles in relationships between teens. I would recommend this book to anyone who is fascinated by paranormal and supernatural abilities. It keeps the reader interested, and makes you look forward to the next book in the series. Compared to the Shadow Falls series, though, I was a little disappointed because Shadow Falls is probably my favorite series I've read in a while, and was really looking forward to the spinoff series, but it didn't have quite the action that Shadow Falls had. It still had enough to make me want to know what happened after this book ended, though. So if you're like me and loved the Shadow Falls series, you may be a little disappointed, but otherwise I feel anyone would really enjoy the book.

I procured my copy from the publisher through the First Reads program , in exchange for an honest review. I haven't read any of C.C. Certain words and phrases were used entirely too often. I also didn't connect or sympathize with any of the characters, save for Holiday. The love triangle also wasn't appreciated. The story its self wasn't awful, just incredibly cliche. (To the point that I was able to guess most of the plot developments a small way in) Favorite Scene: the bit with Della flirting with the bird pretty early in. Bottom Line: If you're a fan of C. C. Hunter's other books I think you'll like this more than I did.

Reborn has a very interesting plot. The storyline has potential, but I was distracted by copious repetitiveness, creating interruptions in the story's flow. I found the characters intriguing especially since it is a cross over series, bringing camp Shadow Falls back into play. The ending makes me look forward to seeing where we will be taken next. I received this ARC copy of Reborn from St. Martin's Press in exchange for a honest review. This book is set for publication May 20, 2014. Written by: Reborn has a very interesting plot. I love when I'm already enjoying a story, and it just keeps getting better and better. This was an impulse buy for me, so I didn't do any research on it. If I had, I would've known this was a spinoff series. I was a little confused in the beginning, but there were plenty of recaps of important events from the original series throughout the story. I'm totally girl crushing on Della. She's pretty damn badass. And snarky. We'd get along well. And omg: sex talk. Teenagers have sex (shocking, I know), but most of the YA I've read either stay away from it or paint it in a negative light. Della and her friends had an honest conversation about sex in this story. They talked about enjoying it, having some regrets or having no regrets as well. They didn't pressure another friend to go one way or the other and encouraged her to trust what feels right for her. The only idiots who slut shamed in the book got what was coming to them (all men, btw). I was happy to see book two is already out (I bought it today) and a third will be out soon. The only thing I didn't like was at the very end. I am so not down with the idea of being "bonded" with someone. Basically you develop an intense twin or soul mate like bond. Falling for someone against your will? No thanks. Guess I'll just have to see what happens in book two! I'm pretty sure I'll be checking out the original series as well.

Della Tsang is a vampire who attends Shadow Falls, a camp/school for young supernaturals to help them cope with the real world. I must mention that the rules are very relaxed at this school/camp, it doesn't really care about how many classes you skip or what you do at night after curfew. That is because the camp/school director Holiday is really more of a friend than an authority figure. She is caught between her attraction to the new vampire and the shapeshifter who has always liked her even at her lowest moments. Tough choice huh? Della lacks some serious brain cells. I put two and two together before I even read 50 percent of this book. If she didn't spend so much time wallowing in self pity and which boy to choose she and her friends Kylie and Miranda would have figured out a lot of stuff faster.

I'VE MISSED MY SHADOW FALLS CREW SOOOOOOO MUUUUCH!!!!!! Ugh Della Della Della! You kind of got me on my nerves sometimes but needless to say I think I would've done the same as you if I were in your shoes. Really loved this book and I can't wait to read more and see where C.C. Hunter takes this series. Definitely recommend this. But please read Shadow Falls series first in order to understand what's going on in this series. 4,5 stars This was waaaaaaaaaaay better than Kylie's story. And this is just the first book. The only reasons I'm not giving this full five stars is... 1. The conversation of Della and Burnett about him not letting her investigate because she's a girl. I thought it was great this was brought up, because I felt like that with Kylie, too, but she didn't seem to notice, so I'm glad Della did. But I was only glad the first time. Then they had the conversation again...and again...and again. I got it. Th 4,5 stars This was waaaaaaaaaaay better than Kylie's story. And this is just the first book. Thet damned love triangle. Can C.C. Hunter pleeeease write something without a love triangle. Shadow Falls would have been way better. This would have gotten 5 stars, because issue one and two weren't that big of a deal. If Miranda's book contains a love triangle, I'm gonna scream. And for the love of God. Stop. Making. One. Guy. An. Asshole. No wonder all guys seem to think women like that. But to be fair, at least Chase was interesting and I actually want to read more from him (yes, that was a nod a Lucas. I don't like that guy AND didn't like his story in Shadow Falls).
