I cannot mention enough how much I liked watching the ups and downs in these women's lives. Each one of them has a unique personalities and approach to life. Chloe is just retired from military and coming back to a civilian's routine. It would not be simple for her to get used to a life she never dreamt herself living one. Mysterious and engaging, The Friends and Family Connections is an adventurous, audacious and exciting novel. I was surprised by the flow of events and its fast paced nature. I could see a movie out of it while reading K.E. Mullins superb work. I would recommend it to everyone who want to have a good time reading these women's stories. Powerful female characters and entertaining plot beckons the reader for an enjoyable time. I had a wonderfully delightful time reading this book and I would be focusing on what K. E. Mullins writes next.

I received this as a first read. This book was a good read. It was fast pace and I could not put it down. The mystery was very good. I also loved that all the women in this book are strong women. This one was just fun to read. This is the first book I have read of this author but I will read more.

If you decide to read this debut album by my friend, Gainesville mystery woman K.E. Mullins, be prepared for a rollicking good time. Featuring a host of interesting characters, the story moves from Atlanta to Bogota' to Washington with a quick stop in the Alachua County Jail. K.E. Mullins writes like she is directing a movie. She rapidly and effectively describes a setting in a way that makes you feel like a camera is panning across a scene before focusing in on what is important. ( It's as if you are watching a movie). Then she fills the page with smart, rapid-fire realistic dialogue, clearly the strong point of her writing. When her characters are not spying on, hiding from, comforting, shooting at, or having steamy sex with each other, they are sipping on Starbucks, munching on chicken wings, and devouring Whitman's Samplers (This is an element of Chick Lit here, but its Chick Lit with large caliber munitions). I am not going to get into the plot , as there is a synopsis on the web site, but I will say that while the plot twists and turns, it is the characters that change so that in chapter 17 you might find yourself rooting for the character you wanted dead in chapter 3. One of the characters even seems to morph into another. Mullins resists the urge to wrap everything up nice and tidy in the end. Instead she has chosen to drop a few hints and then leave the reader wondering what will happen next . She seems to be saying that real life does not come packaged in a box with a neat bow. Or perhaps she is planning a sequel. (Let's hope so!)

This is a good fast-paced mystery where the main characters are more intriguing than the mystery itself. The characters have real lives, with daily ups and downs, no one is all bad or all good, and they speak in down-to-earth dialog. It is a fun read. Jane
