I love introductions to fiction where the author immediately builds momentum by beginning the story in the midst of a dramatic or tense moment, which is exactly the technique Olson uses in Too Sexy for His Stetson. You can read this novel’s opening scene in the excerpt following this review. The introduction had me hooked from the very first line by introducing the two main characters engaged in a potentially combative situation. Although inexperienced, Deputy Sheriff trainee Brandy Wilcox shows gumption in her attempt to apprehend a very sexy cowboy who appears to be breaking the law. Although she is off duty, I admired Brandy’s determination to bring the hunky stranger in, even though she is ill-equipped to do so. Her less than orthodox methods to prevent his escape are humorous and help to deescalate their tenuous situation. When they attacked by a group of Neo-Nazi Freedom Fighters, Brandy and Mr. Stetson-Wearing Cowboy join forces to make an escape. Once safe, the awkwardness of the situation only intensifies once Brandy learns her would- be criminal is actually her new field training supervisor, Lieutenant Deputy Sheriff Blade Beringer. Oops! Brandy’s life revolves around her career in law enforcement and in bringing to justice the real killer who framed her mother for a murder Brandy is certain she didn’t commit. Brandy strongly believes that her step-father, Skip Coogan, a highly-esteemed law officer, killed his mistress, even though all of the circumstantial evidence pointed to Brandy’s mother. After her mother was incarcerated and later killed in prison, Brandy ran away from home and eventually ended up in a state boarding school. Experience has taught her not to trust others; therefore, she remains a loner outside of her job. Now, she has changed her name and stayed under Skip’s radar so that she can continue to secretly investigate him. Blade is an extremely likeable hero who lives his life with integrity. He does his best to support and encourage Brandy’s success as an officer of the law. I really began to respect him when he could have easily embarrassed Brandy by telling officers about her amateurish attempt to arrest him. Instead, keeps her secret and admires her tenacity in the face of a difficult situation. Overall, Blade is a good man who tries to be fair and do what’s right, even though he harbors deep-rooted fears of the man he might become because of his lineage. Although Brandy and Blade work well together, their relationship becomes more complicated when Brandy learns that Blade is close friends with her step-father, Skip. Blade proudly acknowledges Skip as his mentor and the only father figure in his life. Knowing she can’t work behind her supervisor’s back in searching for evidence against Skip, she takes the risk to share with Blade her suspicions about Skip’s involvement in the murder that ended her family. As she expected, Blade balks at the idea that Skip has been involved in any illicit activity. I do have to give Blade credit for being willing to listen to Brandy’s theories, even though she lacks concrete evidence. I also loved watching the bond strengthen between Brandy and Blade as they begin to trust one another and reveal their most painful secrets. Various twists and turns fraught with danger and deception have both Brandy and Blade second guessing their suspicions at times as they deal with threats from a white supremacy group, a possible terrorist attack, and the endangerment of Brandy’s life as she searches for evidence to exonerate her mother. In the middle of all the turmoil, Brandy and Blade do their best to fight the mutual attraction and sexual tension zinging between them, especially since the force prohibits co-workers from dating. One of the central questions is whether they will give in to their passion and what the outcome of their relationship will be by the end of the story. Olson does a good job in smoothly interweaving the couple’s burgeoning relationship within the plot so that it ties in with the other major conflicts. This action packed romantic suspense filled with unexpected surprises kept me riveted until the end and was an enjoyable read. I received a copy of this book from the authorin exchange for an honest review.

Tugging his hand, she brought his fingers to her cheek, her damp cheek. If that didn’t prick his heart, nothing ever would. Then she uncurled his fingers and placed the softest, most sensual kiss he could imagine against his palm. Part of him shouted, hurray for Tendre Amour. But, hell, this was exactly why he’d taken her to a public place for dinner. If they were anywhere more private, he would have been way too tempted to take things further, and the last thing he wanted was to make her feel like she owed him. But he could dream. If they lived in another world and his fantasies could come true, he’d want her to make love with him for one reason and one reason only—because she was as burning hot for him as he was for her, not because she felt like she owed him. He’d never felt more bonded with anyone. Dreams didn’t get any better. Oh, but they did when she arched her back and gave herself totally. So vulnerable. So trusting. Her surrender made his gut wrench. This emotionally fragile woman was giving herself to him. Completely. It touched a place inside he’d thought was a lonely deserted cavern. How could he let a woman who believed in him so unconditionally get away? A woman like her could convince a man he deserved her. DANGER **** “Secure that last guy. Then you and Christiansen get these bastards out of here.” Two minutes. Heart hammering, Brandy shook her head. “Go… please.” Blade hissed out a breath while the circle of blood saturating his pants spread wider. Brandy’s insides went numb. “Damned if I’m going anywhere without you, Beringer.” She leaned in and pressed her body against his heat and touched her mouth to his ear. “I love you, Blade.” Had she said it aloud or in her heart? Blade’s muscles tensed another notch, and he shot a quick glance her way. He nodded. “You’ve lost a lot of blood,” Brandy said, still trembling. “We’re getting you to the sheriff’s chopper and heading for Emergency.” Ignoring what she was saying at the moment, Blade dwelled on the fact that Brandy was safe, alive, fussing over him. And she’d said she loved him. His heart swelled. They’d beaten the odds. They had a chance to make a life together. But first, he had a job to do. He squared his shoulders. And then on to the finish!

Lieutenant Deputy, Blade Beringer, had left after his partner was shot and he was forced to retire, so they transferred to Little Chute Idaho where the pace was slower and his partner could further heal. It wasn't until as a teen he got so out of control that Skip Coogan came to his rescue and saved him or he'd be dead. He owed his mentor a great deal of thanks for leading him into law enforcement, but when Brandy accused Skip of murdering his mistress and framing his wife, Brandy's mother he had a hard time wrapping his mind on her theory. the white supremacy hate group had settled in the forest around the mountains and they vowed to rid all non whites from the land one way or another and he and Brandy were charge to see what they were up to! Mal Olson spins a riveting, suspense filled story that fairly leaped off the pages as you visualized the action and tried to keep up! Both Blade and Brandy had Skip in their lives, but where Blade idolized him, Brandy hated him for framing her mother when she was barely twelve years old and was sent to her grandparents but ran away and she lived on the streets.............. I can help but give this book FIVE stars and am eagerly to read to next book!!

Once they get away Brandy learns the guy she ordered to strip is her FTO Blade, the two of them start a working together. Trying to ignore their attraction to each other the two of them have to figure out a way to bring down a racist group, but Brandy and Blade both have secrets. Brandy is trying to prove her mother is innocent in the process she will take down Skip Coogan, Blades hero and Blade he still lives with the guilt of what his biological father did. Too Sexy For His Stetson had me hooked from the very beginning; I loved the sexual tension/frustration between Brandy and Blade it made for some uncomfortable and at times funny moments. There was a lot of action, a little bit of suspense and some mystery throw in just to keep you guessing a little. Brandy was a great female main character, she was strong, but had some insecurities that balance things out. Blade was sexy as hell, he worked hard to get away from his "father" and make something of himself. Every time I thought I had things figured out, there was something little that would happen and I would start having doubts. This book was a great read, something every romance reader should pick up when their looking for something a little bit different.

Brandy is being taught more than the police ropes by Blade and their search to flush out the extremist groups threatening the quiet of this little town is proving to be a huge undertaking. The bad guys have come to this fight with an attitude, a lot of firepower, and a determination to bring Brandy down. Neither Blade nor Brandy know what the larger picture will reveal but this snapshot of destruction is chilling both of them. The closer they get to figuring things out the more roaches crawl out from under rocks. There are many paths to take in order to get the answers and revealing their individual history to one another is turning out to be a bit of a problem. Both Blade and Brandy bring baggage to this rodeo but several pieces of what they are carrying may turn out to be a powerful deterrent to any relationship they may have between them. Buckle up and be prepared for a great read with enough twists and turns to make you unable to stop and do the dishes.

Author Mal Olson has perfectly balanced action, suspense, and sexual tension in a roller coaster ride of a story full of likable characters and numerous twists and turns that keep you on the edge of your seat. This story proves that small town living doesn't equal peace and quiet. Brandy Wilcox is new to the job of police officer and wants to make a good impression. When she sees a sexy man next to a broken window on her front porch she employs rather unexpected techniques to apprehend him....namely having him strip out of his clothes. Unbeknownst to her this "criminal" is her new training officer, Blade Beringer. Before he can enlighten her of her mistake, gunfire erupts and these two join forces to escape. Once they reach safety the danger's just begun as they must now work together to bring down a terrorist group and help Brandy avenge the wrongs done to her dead mother by a man who Brandy and Blade see in very different lights. Brandy's had a harsh life growing up as her mother was sent to jail where she subsequently died. Brandy was left on her own which has made her a strong and independant woman, but also one very untrusting of others. She knows her mother didn't committ the crime she was accused of and has made it her all-consuming life mission to clear her mother's name by apprehending the man she thinks is guilty....her step-father Skip who's an esteemed officer of the law and a mentor to Blade. She wants to trust Blade but because of his his connection to Skip she's wary. Ultimately she takes a chance on their burgeoning relationship and asks for his help. This leads her further into danger and brings her even closer to Blade in a relationship that work deems inappropriate. As they continue to dodge bullets and threats of death they must now too weigh the importance of their attraction in regards to keeping their jobs which isn't an issue easily solved. Blade too had a rough time growing up. His father was a truly awful man and Blade worries that he'll turn out the same, but Blade is portrayed as loyal, supportive, and the epitome of heroic. He took Brandy under his wing and never belittled any of her thoughts or deeds, he truly listened to her even when she told him her thoughts about Skip. He credits Skip with making him the man he is today and it's difficult to see him any other way, but it's a credit to their deepening connection that he does help her search for evidence. I liked him from the very start and enjoyed the witty banter between him and Brandy which nicely progressed into some hot and heavy sexual chemistry. Their bond was intense in and out of the bedroom and they made for a formidable team. Ms. Olson nicely balanced the action and romance, presenting the issues of their romance in a believable way that is both heartbreaking and heartwarming. These two characters have been damaged by their pasts and the longer they're together the more the healing can be seen. These quiet moments are interspersed among scenes of bullets flying and keep the reader constantly off guard as you never know what will happen next. From its likable characters and twisty and turny mystery to its action-packed scenes and satisfying romance, Ms. Olson keeps this roller coaster ride moving along at a brisk pace and has me excited for what she plans next.

Adorable. Awww. Sweet. Just some of the one word phrases that come to mind reading this book. Tension, suspense and action in the middle of a budding romance is now what I call a great read. With enough testosterone and hormones flowing, a sexy Deputy Sheriff and a gorgeous rookie and you have a winner. The plot was exciting, and kept you guessing till the end. The villain was deceitful and treacherous. His scheming and murderous attitude always a thorn on our sexy deputy sheriff's side. Feisty women, Brandy and Tonya, will keep you at the edge of your seat. Brandy our gorgeous rookie clashed with Blake Beringer from the moment they met, in a somewhat peculiar situation that set the tone of the book throughout. Seeking justice for her deceased mother, convicted murderer, and the real killer of Marilyn Abbott. The minute Lieutenant Blake Beringer set his eyes on Brandy, his new rookie he knew he had problems. Electricity flowed between them, filling the pages with sexual tension. Struggling with his identity as a man and loyalty towards the man who saved him, Brandy became the balm to his aching heart. Doubt always between them because of Skip Coogan, and his part in both their lives. One knew him as a monster, the other as a hero, which almost destroyed the budding attraction. And I can not do a good book review if I do not refer to the K9 friend, Rambo. Ex-partner and retired Blake took him with him when he relocated to Idaho. The strong bond between Rambo and Blake unmistakable, and the true hero in this story. The phrase "a man's best friend" wonderfully illustrated within the book. He won Brandy's heart, giving her love and acceptance she needed which open her heart for so much more than just K9 love. As they plough through the country in search for the terrorists and killer, they became a unique team. Both Blake and Brandy were confronted with their own issues, set it aside to have the one thing they both want. Home. The story was set against the Shoshone River, with its rapids, down pours and beauty giving you a feel of a believable story and trusted characters. The romance was building steadily, giving the reader just enough to make this a wonderful suspense filled read. Fast paced but not rushed, you were pulled into the lives of the sheriff's and the problems they faced. The Neo Nazi Freedom Fighters tested all their abilities and knowledge, their self-righteous acts demeaning and barbaric. Causing more action and adventure between the pages. Spellbound till the end. A story I enjoyed.

Since she was off duty (no handcuffs) and she didn’t want him to get away, she held him at gunpoint and made him strip (almost completely). This was my favorite scene (too cute). I won’t give too much away, but it turned out that Blade was actually a lieutenant who was new to the area and her department. He was also her new boss – making the scene even funnier. Their attraction to each other was immediately and throughout the first half of the story, they tried to fight their attraction – mainly because there was a no fraternizing policy. At first I enjoyed the cat and mouse game, but then it went a little too long in my opinion. It helped that there was a nice suspenseful plot woven into the story at this point, with nice twist and turns that kept me reading. The author also did a good job with describing the setting/surroundings and I could easily visualize the scenes. Oh, and Rambo, Blade’s trusted K-9 – was a wonderful touch! Though there was entertainment and suspense to the story – like my second favorite scene when they were chased down by a huge truck that sent them over a cliff (great scene), thereafter, the story was just okay. The action that came after Brandy was hospitalized (for a brief period) after the cliff incident, was okay – but at times not believable. The day after the hospitalization (where she had a sprained ankle, bruised shoulder and damaged ribs) she was lured away and kidnapped. She went through a lot including being knocked out, physically attacked by a guy who was high, sent down stream in a boat (no paddles and her hands were tied) – after a major storm w/ high tides – the list goes on (mind you, this was the day after she was released from the hospital). Some parts I could go with (and they were thrilling), but the scenes thereafter were too over the top for someone in her physical condition (in my opinion). Overall, this was a cute story with some nice suspense and great creativity. I would consider reading something else by this author. Blade and Brandy come together, each with their own dark past and offer each other the chance at a better future. BUT, their romance is against the rules; and let’s face it, challenging the rules only makes things HOTTER. I truly enjoyed both of these main characters. Blade is the perfect combination of dangerously sexy but honest, trustworthy, Levi and Stetson wearing western hero. I love a man who protects his woman at all costs. Especially when the woman is like Brandy: strong and independent enough not to need his protection, but feminine and vulnerable enough to need HIM. This action-packed thrill ride kept me glued to the pages, through all of the twists and turns and up until the unexpected conclusion. Add compelling and relatable characters, a touch of humor, plenty of danger and intrigue, and throw in sexual tension and heartfelt romance, and the result is this fantastic read. “He groaned, clutching her tightly to his body, as she slid down onto his heat. Her chest still ached, but no pain pills could stop the kind of hurt burrowing into her core. She wanted something she couldn’t have. She wanted to trust someone other than herself. She wanted that elusive thing called love.“ *I received a complimentary of the book in exchange for a fair and honest review.

Lieutenant Deputy Sheriff Blade Beringer is a very likable character who is extremely good at his job, considerate of his deputies and, oh yeah, sexy. Brandy Wilcox is a Trainee Deputy Sheriff whose goal for the past 10 years has been to clear her mother’s name after being charged and imprisoned for murder. She is very serious about her job and will not take any crap from anyone. I loved the first meeting between the main characters. It was funny but so well written that you knew how serious Brandy was throughout the ordeal. Although Brandy and Blade work well together, their relationship becomes difficult when Brandy finds out that Blade is a close friend to her step-father, Skip. Blade is proud of Skip since Skip was his mentor and a father figure to him. She knows she can't go behind her boss's back and search for evidence against Skip so she talked to Blade about her suspicions about Skip being involved in the murder charge against her mother. Blade doesn't believe that Skip was involved in any crime but did listen to Brandy's thoughts on Skip's involvement. As soon as they met, Brandy and Blade were immediately attracted to each other. They fought the sexual tension between them, because the force has a no fraternizing policy. Olson is a very illustrative writer who creates an entire world for her audience to get lost in. Every aspect of this novel is fully developed in a manner that you can’t help but picture. She presents her readers with a novel that is simultaneously exciting, suspenseful, and emotional. This was a great book with lots of twists and turns in the story. Olson took the reader through several dangerous scenes with threats from a white supremacy groups as well as many close calls for Brandy's life. This novel was action packed and wonderfully romantic. I really liked this book and will absolutely be reading more from this author.

This is the first book that I have read by Mal Olson and let me tell you… She is awesome!!! I started this book after being woken up in the middle of the night for a puppy nature calling. The story opens up with Brandy trying to detain a potential B and E suspect not knowing that it’s really her FTO Blade Beringer. Her method of detaining him maybe just a bit unorthodox but until suddenly being fired upon it did the trick. When the shots start raining down on the pair things get a bit uneasy for Brandy who is stressing because she almost had her FTO stripped to his short but she follows his lead and gets out of the line of fire with the only thing damaged is her truck. While trying to keep a level head and solve a cold case from ten years back Brandy tries to deny her attraction to Blade. Blade Beringer has a questionable background and faces many different challenges in life, one of them being the beautiful blond that he has to train into a first rate office of the law. He was spared by Brandy’s step-father, Skip who sees something in Blade that is worth saving. Not knowing who is father is and trying to prove that he isn’t like the demon that spawned him Blade tries to deny his attraction to Brandy while dealing with white extremists who want to kill anyone who isn’t like them. If you are looking for a great romance novel that will keep you turning the pages this one of the books for you. I personally can’t wait to read more from Mal Olson.

Brandy is equally determined to establish her career in law enforcement and resist her undeniable attraction to her Field Training Officer, Lieutenant Blade Beringer. The two investigate a local white supremacist group engaged in terrorist activities that may include a plot to blow up the dam that provides electricity to much of the state. A series of threats to the sheriff's department and attempts on Brandy's life escalate, and it is unclear whether the violence is related to the white supremacists or to her murder investigation. When Brandy reveals that the person of interest in her murder investigation is Blade's most trusted mentor, both Blade and Brandy question loyalties and trust while continuing to back one another up on dangerous assignments. Author Mal Olson brings the action and tension to a crescendo that will have you on the edge of your seat and unable to put the book down. I recommend Too Sexy for His Stetson and am eager to read more from this author...

I fell in love with our heroine at beginning of the book. Brandy’s gumption (for lack of a better word), need to not be seen as weak by the opposite sex and complete belief that she is going to be everything she ever wanted to be is written so well it screams off the page. When she is confronted with who she believes to a burglar on her day off her in the middle of the woods, her unorthodox arrest procedures lead to a whole lot of angst that continues through the book. Blade, Mr. Too Sexy For His Stetson, is definitely more than meets the eyes and shoots all of Brandy’s well laid plans down the white water rapids. Not only is he her training officer but he sets her libido on fire. Blade is not immune to Brandy either and has their undeniable attraction takes them on a suspense filled investigation to uncover deceptions from the past it will take the one thing they both find it difficult to give…trust. I enjoyed the mystery and suspense although it was a little predictable in a few spots, Mal Olsen definitely earned the “Hold the phone” moment with a completely unforeseeable twist near the end. Definitely a worthwhile read, grab it and get ready to take a trip to Idaho you will never forget. *** ARC provided free for an honest review** for more reviews visit welovekink (dot) com

Blade is a hot and sexy man who sees the side of Brandy most don’t either see or want to see. Brandy easily gets under Blade’s skin. Blade is new to the area and has his own dark secrets he does not want anyone to know about. The chemistry between Blade and Brandy is scorching hot. The sex scenes were blistering. I loved watching both Blade and Brandy fight their attraction to each other before they both gave in. While it’s against the rules neither can keep fighting their attraction to each other for long. My favorite scene in the book is the one where Blade and Brandy meet. It’s a unique way to secure a suspect even when that suspect turns out to be your boss. It was a funny scene. This book was a great combination of funny, series, action, adventure and romance. I had a hard time putting the book down. While I have not read anything by this author before I will be keeping an eye out for more.

Actual rating was a 3 1/2, but .... Talk about a fast paced, fly by the seat of your pants, action packed book. Wow…. Too Sexy for His Stetson didn’t let up in the danger department. Not by a long shot. These characters barely had a chance to catch their breath, much less give into the growing attraction between the two of them. It seemed like as soon as one moment of danger passed another one took its place. Well, it was kind of the same threat of danger coming at them over and over again, but it was coming from so many different angles it was hard to keep up. I have to admit that even though I thought I knew who the bad guy was from the beginning there were enough twists and turns and seeds of doubt that I found myself second guessing my first hunch more than once. I like it when an author keeps me guessing. I just might have to check out some more of Mal Olson’s books. Beyond all the action and danger, Brandy and Blade did find time for romance – when they weren’t fighting their mutual attraction. Throw in a heroic dog and the adventure is complete. Too Sexy for His Stetson was a fast and furious read that kept the pages turning and was the perfect late night diversion.

In the spirit of full disclosure I received an ARC in exchange for an honest review. Too Sexy For His Stetson is aptly named. I've always adored a good cowboy romance, and this one is one of the best I've ever read. I've been reading western romances since I was twelve. The opening scene captured my attention from line one. When the hero and heroine can banter playfully it adds something special to me as a reader. The descriptions aren't overdone, though sometimes the words chosen are confusing. For instance "corkscrew curls" doesn't paint an attractive picture in my mind. Neither does "rioted and cascaded" Cascaded works for me. Each detail given enriches the story. I didn't feel like any of it was filler material. Rambo is adorable! From the descriptions and interactions I was able to picture the dog so easily. He's so cute and lifelike. The trials Blade and Brandy face are numerous and watching their journey is highly entertaining. Originally reviewed for Safari Heat.

I loved the start of it, it was seriously funny. And the overall plot was good. I just couldn't really connect with the characters very well. I didn't really like either of them very much at all so that just made me dislike the book some, but other than that everything else about the book was good.

To Sexy for his Stetson By Mal Olson 4/5 This book had me hooked from the start, with Brandy's way to preventing an offender from running off, and Blades reluctance to admit just who he was, I loved the way they tried to fight their mutual attraction for each other, forbidden fruit always tastes better. Too Sexy for his Stetson will set your heart on fire on Page One when Trainee Deputy Sheriff Brandy Wilcox had her Remington semiautomatic rifle sights locks on to Blade Beringer, and orders him to drop his Levis. That’s when the bullets start flying. The sexual tension alone is enough to burn the pages, but the read is too hot to put down. I just love the romantic suspense genre! It is one of my favorites to read. Thank you to Mal Olsen for providing me with everything I need in a RS book!
