I got my hands on it quite randomly! And i am really extatic.. This one of a kind book is full of clever games inspired from our favorite new cult movies.. I can hear you all ladies scream and do shots everytime Channing Tatum shows off his dancing skills on Magic Mike.. Or laughing so hard everytime Alyson Hannigan in American Pie says "This one time, at band camp.." Favorite scenes or quotes from iconic movies are the main subject.. And after you are wasted from the movie three to four other games I got my hands on it quite randomly! And i am really extatic.. One more gif of Channing dancing just because..

Review originally appeared on The Magical Buffet website on 11/22/13. I’ve always had a soft spot for the movie “The Princess Bride”. Then when my husband and I got married we made reference to the book at our ceremony so we never officially declared it, but the movie sort of became “our” film. So obviously we did what any reasonable married couple would do with such a special film, we invited our friends over for “The Princess Bride”: The Drinking Game. So obviously we did what any reasonable married couple would do with such a special film, we invited our friends over for “The Princess Bride”: The Drinking Game. Yes my friends, you read that correctly. I received a review copy of “Lights, Camera, Booze: Drinking Games for Your Favorite Movies” by Kourtney Jason and Lauren Metz and illustrated by Amanda Lanzone, and you can’t get a book like that and not take it for a test drive. There were tons of tempting options: “The Goonies”, “Back to the Future”, “The Rocky Horror Picture Show”, “Clerks”, “Fight Club”, “Monty Python & the Holy Grail”, and so many more! Yet when everything was said and done my husband and I picked “our” movie, “The Princess Bride”. With the difficult decision of film picked out, we all gathered and prepared for the fun. “Lights, Camera, Booze” tells you when to drink. In this case, drink when… 1. “Farmboy” 2. As you wish 3. Mawwiage 4. Anyone mentions Andre the Giant’s size 5. Inconceivable 6. “My name is Inigo Montoya. You killed my father. Prepare to die.” 7. True love 8. The grandson interrupts 9. Sword fight 10. The Machine 11. Horse Rides 12. Dread Pirate Roberts 13. Rodents of Unusual Size 14. Man in Black 15. Westley defeats a foe. 16. 6-fingered man. 17. Prince Humperdinck 18. Buttercup is referred to as Highness or Princess Each movie, along with the “drink when”, has a cocktail paired up with it. For “The Princess Bride” the drink is the True Love Cocktail. A mix of coconut rum (RUM!), peach schnapps, and cranberry juice. The first few to try it proclaimed that it “tasted like college” and others agreed. It was pretty sweet and needless to say, tasted better the more you had. Being the super hostess, I had provided potato chips. I refer to them as fried sliced potato tapas. Fortunately a few of our friends had other things in mind. One friend brought roasted in the shell peanuts (“Anybody want a peanut?”), and snack size Snickers (to emulate the oversized chocolate Miracle Max pill). A different pair brought beer bread (Yum!) and M.L.T.s, yep, mutton, lettuce, and tomato sandwiches (Miracle Max’s favorite!). They were DELICIOUS! The book stresses that when you “drink”, it’s a sip, not a pounding back the whole glass. Although even with that rule in place most of us thought we were in trouble with just the plot background at the start of the film. We were like, Buttercup, quit saying Farmboy and for the love of God Westley, shut up on the “As you wish”! Depending on the size of the glass, some folks were refilling by the time Buttercup was vowing she would never love again. It was ugly and it was HILARIOUS! We all had a great time and when it was over I shared the trivia that “Lights, Camera, Booze” provides. They also have a game, which for The Princess Bride was a toy sword fight. Being adults, full of True Love Cocktails, in our crowded apartment; we opted to pass on the game. There’s also a Hot Topics section with some conversational questions which I totally forgot about and by this point my friends wanted to go through and look at other movies. By the end of the evening people were talking about what the next movie/drinking game night should be and what other movies should have been in the book. With that in mind, I would give Jason & Metz’s “Lights, Camera, Booze” two thumbs up, way up.

I can't wait for my first lights camera booze movie night! I read this book with my boyfriend they day it came in. He's even more excited for the next movie night then I am and if thats possible. My friends and I love making up drinking games for our movie nights, and this book has so many great movies we haven't used yet. I love the themed cocktail drinks and the open page layout for quick references to the rules. (We often forget some of ours and make up new ones throughout the movie). I love the variety of movies for different groups and the tips on ways to adapt the game for friends with a lower liquor tolerance. And for $14.95 US it'll make a great quick gift for birthdays ( especially 21st ), house warming gifts, and groups of friends who love to party together but may not be able to afford or like the bar scene everyweek. I would love to eventually see some more of these books, especially if they were themed (dorky as that sounds) like geeky - star wars, lord of the rings, ect. (These are some of our favorites). Cult classics, horror, chick flicks and the list goes on. I am highly recommend this book for some fun nights in.

I won this book through a first-reads giveaway. Every movie has a short paragraph, a signature drink, tons of drinking rules, trivia, and a final challenge. This is definitely a fun book if you and your friends would like some direction. Every movie also has certain rules that you should omit if you're a light drinker. Looking over some of the rules to movies I have seen, I would need to omit many more than they caution to not black out by the end of the movie. Hi there, hellooo! ^___^ I received this book a few months back through a First Reads giveaway, and it is an absolute treasure to own! The authors made amazing movie choices for their drinking game book: all are top-notch movies that are bound to get you a little tipsy or at least interested in a movie you haven't yet had the chance to see! It includes recent ones like 21st Jump Street, but it also contains old-time favorites such as The Breakfast Club and The Princess Bride. I won this on First Giveaways. 35 movies that we all love and can easily drink too. Anchorman, Big Lebowski, Clueless, Dirty Dancing, Flight Club, Goonies, The Hangover, Magic Mike ... You get the point. Each movie has a paragraph or two about the movie, a signature drink and rules: written or drawn. There is ALSO Hot Topic Dicussions Questions (not too deep), Trivia and a challenge to see who can hold their drinks. It is a great book. I haven't have people over yet to try it. Very fun and would be fantastically useful at a party. :) I appreciated that there were options for drinkers who wanted to make it (conscious) until the end of the movie. (I won this book through Goodreads and received it way before I marked it as received.)

Growing up, there were few things that were the perfect complements to an amazing movie. Close friends, Mountain Dew and enough popcorn to feed a third world country were usually enough to keep even the most attention deficit-riddled adolescent at bay. As people have gotten older, it isn't enough to enjoy a night in with one of your favorite cinematic adventures. With every one-liner said by your most loved character or every situational mishap, a swig of your alcoholic beverage of choice has become the new norm and I am completely okay with this. Unfortunately, due to extreme laziness and drunken misadventures, these occurrences are few and far between. However, much to my amazement, I got my copy on my hands of Lights Camera Booze, written by Kourtney Jason and Lauren Metz and illustrated by Amanda Lanzone. Now, instead of wandering the annals of the internet in a half-intoxicated stupor, I can conveniently refer to a plethora of drinking games based off of over thirty iconic and memorable movies scattered over a wide variety of genres. You can read John's full review at Horror DNA by clicking here.

Do you like to watch a good movie now and then? Would you rather be alone or with friends? Do you enjoy having a beer or perhaps several, maybe a little wine or something stronger? Better yet, be the life the party, invite your friends over and have a blast with this fantastic drinking game assistant. Pick your movie and grab your booze of choice ( preferably not something too strong or you'll end up under the table or sprawled out next to the golden throne, and you know what that is). Lights Camera Booze would make an excellent gift for the young at heart, but not too young, no teenagers ( just because they do in the movies doesn't make it right). The book is well thought out, nicely illustrated and informative, not to mention a hell of a lot of fun. Kourtney and Lauren have tried their best to make sure that you have a lot of fun but please be careful. Every movie Drink When section contains almost 20 instances wherein you must consume whatever it is you're drinking. May I suggest that you take small sips and watch your alcohol consumption... If you decide to bite the bullet and go for the gusto, you will not make it to the last half of the movie. If you enjoy watching movies like: Animal House, Ghostbusters, The Karate kid or even Sex and the City, you'll have double the fun when you include Lights Camera Action to round out your fun-filled experience.
