Technically Ultimate Comics X-Men volume 3, but named after the arc just to confuse back-volume readers - the crisis in the US sees the Ultimates reunite as well as in this volume Kitty Pryde and the X-Men rise against the Sentinel-controlled states! Started off really well, but went downhill from #15. Collects Ultimate Comics X-Men #13-18. 6 out of 12. I guess I'm surprised this isn't as bad as I expected. I Love love love Ultimate SPider-man but the rest of the ultimate universe was 50/50. I never even read any Ultimate title once I got to ultimatum. So no X-Men, Avengers, Ultimates, or any of them. So going back I was holding my breath on any of it being good. I never even heard much about these series after that terrible event. Who knew it can be pretty entertaining? So Kitty Pride has had enough of this shit. I never even heard much about these series after that terrible event. Who knew it can be pretty entertaining? So Kitty Pride has had enough of this shit. Stryker is basically in sentials now, like inside them, and they are hunting all mutants. On top of that Kitty heads down south with Bobby, Rogue, and Jimmy (Wolverine Jr.) and decides to begin a rebellion. With Kitty being in charge, she's scared, but she knows what must be done to take the war to them. Facing Racism and odds stacked against her she marches forward towards victory with some unlikely allies! What I liked: Loved Kitty in here. She's just so admirable. She has badass moments but she doesn't come across as "perfect superhero girl" she's just a scared teenager who's had enough of this shit and trying her best to survive. She's relatable and you instantly root for her. I also really loved the issue with the racist rednecks being pricks to mutants. Really does give the world a scary place to live for these guys. Also enjoyed the ending and it's set up for the future three volumes. What I didn't like: The art can be a bit iffy sometimes. Making some characters look to similar at parts. The action sometimes struggles to flow. I also thought the fight against the robots was the least interesting part and had me wanting to get back to the talking since the dialog was pretty solid. Overall I'm digging Brian's take on X-Men. I'm hoping the next 3 volumes build on this idea of going to a new world filled with a ton less mutants. Let's hope it keeps up!

The X-men raise up against their oppression and takes a stans against the sentinels.

I haven't read the rest of the Divided We Fall, United We Stand series but I felt that didn't hinder me too much (as I had read the rest of the ultimate comics x-men series). I love the x-men, they are my favourite superheroes. This book- like many of the x-men comics- deals with themes of prejudice, humanity (and lack thereof) and injustice. I enjoyed this story and I can't wait to continue the rest of the series. The only real problem I had with this was the artwork and I found that all of the I haven't read the rest of the Divided We Fall, United We Stand series but I felt that didn't hinder me too much (as I had read the rest of the ultimate comics x-men series). Ultimate X-Men. Wood faces the problem of taking over for a superior writer who was in the middle of a plot. Fortunately, he’s a strong writer. We still lose plots wholesale (among them the SEAR plot, the Ororo in prison plot, and the dead people in heads plot), but he pays a *little* bit of attention to them, which hopefully means he’ll return to them. (He doesn't, sadly.) In the meantime the story of Kitty becoming the leader of the X rebellion is good, if a bit big picture at times [7/10].

A good read with Kitty Pryde tackling the Sentinals in the South Eastern United States after the events in Divided We Fall United We Stand. There were a few jarring scenes where some of the X-men appeared without any earlier reference and disappeared just as quickly but all in all this is a good collection and should fit right in for any Ultimate Universe fan.

Only read the x-men books so pacing was weird. Probably would have enjoyed it more if I read tie in books.

Not bad. Without the other United We Stand cross-over issues, though, it feels incomplete. Very DMZ-like story, which isn't bad, seeing as Wood wrote that, too.

...not bad but artwork variable with very little aesthetic differentiation between characters, making the whole series somehow seem more like very good fanart rather than a professional job.
