Must read! I couldn't put this book down! The stories touched my heart as they will yours. Laughter, tears and smiles throughout. I'm thinking I was meant to read this book at this time when we are thinking of welcoming another dog into our lives. Must read! I couldn't put this book down! In this heartwarming collection of true stories you will meet many dogs~~some big, some small, some rambunctious, and some serene. Each of them has played an important part in the lives of their humans. You'll meet a three-legged survivor who helps heal a broken family a funny mutt who brings laughter to a house filled with anxiety, a local celebrity pup who bring smiles and customers to a couple's store, and many more ordinary and extraordinary canines. So share a treat with the special dog in your life, an dig in to these uplifting tales. My Thoughts... I realize this book is not for everyone, however being a pet lover I enjoyed reading the many stories about the owners and their pets. I had to chuckle at an experience about a mother and her young daughter, Mariah as they went shopping for a surprise gift for the oldest daughter Vanessa. They found the perfect dog for Vanessa. While they were waiting for her to get home from school Mariah wanted to name the dog, but the mother thought it best to leave Vanessa name it since it was to be her dog. Mariah asked: "Do you think Vanessa will let me help take care of her? After all, I loved her first." This book is a part of my Personal library, and I enjoyed it enough to award it 4 doggie star treats.

This feel-good collection of stories and essays is the perfect addition to any dog lover's collection. This book just didn't do it for me. There were a couple really good stories in here, but a lot left me disappointed. It seemed like a lot of the stories were written by people that weren't even "dog people" - the editor included. There was a large amount of stories that included unplanned litters of puppies, giving dogs away when they're no longer easy or convenient with one's lifestyle, or just poor pet practices, like feeding M&M's to a dog. What a lovely collection of stories about man's best friend, the dog. Sweet stories that will tug at your heartstrings, but in a good way. Read them one at a time, or just give in to the urge to keep reading until surprisingly you are finished. Suitable to be read at bedtime, to children, when feeling down, or just wanting a kind, relaxing read. What a lovely collection of stories about man's best friend, the dog. A charming read which brings the reader joy. It was great to read such lovely, heartwarming stories about man and man's best friend. Glad I picked this book up to read when I did. Just like dogs the book came to me when I needed it, helped me to smile. A charming read which brings the reader joy. I liked the book in that the short stories were able to fill little pockets of time. One big thing I didn't like is that little factoids and quotes were inserted into the stories---as if you were reading a newspaper or magazine and they needed to fill the columns. This proves to be extremely distracting when you are reading on an ereader as you lose spaces which makes you think they stopped the story, only to flip the page and find the filler, and then by the time you read that, you have to go pi I liked the book in that the short stories were able to fill little pockets of time. With electronic readers on the market and these books targeted for them, it would be a whole lot easier if these "fillers" were inserted between stories instead of in the middle of them.

Fun little book with lots of doggy stories. But I seriously hated the last one. It was going fine, about a not so wonderful dog whom the author wanted to get rid of daily, but learned to love, faults and all. Then, the family moved across the country. They did not take the dog with them. No explanation given, so maybe they had a better excuse than it would be too inconvenient to move the dog with them, but since she didn't say, I am left with the feeling that this was simply a good excuse to get Fun little book with lots of doggy stories. I wasn't really all that impressed. I am a huge fan of feel dog animal stories, but this just didn't really feel the same as a normal book. Perhaps it was because we only experience each story for a few pages and I didn't have time to form a connection, or maybe it just didn't feel as well written. In any case, it was a free book, and for something that costs nothing, I'd say this was fine. And the stories were cute. I wasn't really all that impressed. A book that is exactly what the title is...a compilation of short reflections from individuals regarding their dogs. The book has a nice balance between humorous, sad, and touching stories. For anyone who has a dog, and considers the dog more than a pet, but a full member of the family, its a read that will make you appreciate your furry family member even more.

Pleasant, easy-reading book, good for times when you only have a few minutes to read (like a short break at work) and you need to be momentarily transported to a good place. Not the best of group of dog stories I've ever read ("Dog is My Co-Pilot" is still the best) but they are fun and/or interesting. This book was OK. Was not what I had expected. It had different authors writing the stories in each chapter. Some of the stories were good and others were so-so. Not a book that I would read again like Marley and me. But, it's a good afternoon read to pass time. Left me feeling like I was missing something. This book was OK. Was not what I had expected. For The Love of dogs. Loved the stories, yet realized as I was reading, how sad many of them were. So it made me sad. Don't get me wrong, I too love a couple of dogs, who let me think I am in charge. Instead they are in charge of my heart. What can anyone say about the unconditional love of a dog! I was a little leary of a book that by desscription, would probably make me cry. I had a dog (sometimes two) all my life until I got married. My husband is allergic. But, all of these stories will touch your heart. Especially if you have ever had a dog, loved a dog, or have been loved by a dog.

Nice Nice I have had dogs most of my life and they are truly great companions. They can be a lot of work, but this book points out how rewarded you may be if you let them into your life.

I love dogs just as much as the next guy. They can be cute cuddly and adorable. But too much of any thing can be more than enough to take. And that was the case with this collection of stories. They were way over the top, on the sweet side. So much so, that some of them almost made me gag.

I read this because I wanted a "feel good", "feel inspired" kind of read. It was that, but it was kind of in-your-face too much. I was hoping for an experience like The Art of Racing in the Rain was and this fell far short. I should have just re-read The Art of Racing in the Rain! They were just little short stories about dogs, but a lot had Christian overtones. Like how God brought the dog to them at just the right time in there lives. They were wonderful little stories. Most were no longer than 5 pages.

Heartwarming stories about dogs. Some stories will have you laughing while others will bring to mind antics of your own dog(s). Written in a conversational style that provides a quick read. The author(s) appear to approach it from a Christian perspective.

Who doesn't love a good, heartwarming dog story! This is an anthology of short, true tales of the furry babies and older four-legged friends. I laughed and I cried. Great read.
