Dear friends. I am admitting myself to the 'Ward of Broken Hearts'. Of 'Lost OTP Dreams'. Of 'Cliffhanger Casualties'. Why? BECAUSE EVERYTHING HURTS TOO GODDAMN MUCH!! I NEED Eli and Ruby to just get together and STAY together. Is that too much to ask? For a couple that manage to survive vampire attacks, impending doom and the hormonal horrors of a paranormal academy, they can't even manage to forgo the whole 'I'm not gonna be with you 'cause you might die' scenario. What...what if they don't end up together?! But I must admit, I loved this book to shreds. Not literally, of course. Gees, people! Though I do have one word of advice for Ruby. And it is as follows: Honey. If you don't want people to know you have a thing for your guardian angel PLEASE REFRAIN FROM OGLING HIS SIX-PACK EVERYTIME YOU SEE HIM. 'Cause it ain't subtle, and everyone around you is all: So yeah. I'm emotionally drained and craving double chocolate walnut brownies. What's new?! Full review up soon, ladies and gents. :D _________________ IT'S FINALLY HERE!!

This book was gifted and sent to me at 2pm this after noon, 9 hours later I had it finished and left hanging for more. Like the first book, I could not stop reading! I really love how I can make such a strong connection with Ruby and how she is feeling. You really do get swept up into her world and feel like you are right there. (would be good to be right there, I'd love to get myself a bit of Eli ;) hehe) This book was gifted and sent to me at 2pm this after noon, 9 hours later I had it finished and left hanging for more. This book was just as good as the first! I couldn't wait to read it since I was left wondering what happened to Eli? There are more twists and turns I did not see coming, and now I'm anxiously waiting on book three! Skyla's definitely got a way to keep you hanging on and wanting more! these books are so underdeveloped. there is no character development for any of the characters and the author just jumps around assuming we can understand the leap of faith that these characters haev relationships with each other. The Guardian Angel series is my favorite series to date. It is easy to read, simple, engrossing and fast paced-just the way I like it. I don't usually do reviews, mostly because I can't be bothered recapping the WHOLE story, but with this book I want to recap the whole thing but choose not to because I don't want to give much away and I always give away the plot. Anyway, this book is better than the first and I LOVED them both. Well done Miss Madi. The Guardian Angel series is my favorite series to date. Much more excitement in this book. I feel like I got to know the characters a little better and saw some more depth to them. Hunter was a shock. I'm not sure how I feel about him just yet. The ending was sad but I understand the reasons Ruby made this decision. she's lost too much and she's not willing to risk another person she cares about dying. She is a strong character, she's a fast learner and I'm sure in the next book she'll be ready to kick more butts and take names. After all, I don't think she and Eli can stay apart forever. they seem to have a deep connection. Change is coming...

I think because I've never read the first book. I also didn't know what this book was based on, i just started reading it) In the beginning of the book, the characters were introduced. Ruby is one of the main characters in the book. She is a goddess & half vampire because of her dad. Ruby also has the power to control the elements, which means - she can control fire. (She uses it often, but every time she uses it, she gets weaker. ) Ruby also gets her energy from the sun. She goes to Sage Sanctum, which is a school for gods, goddesses, and guardian angels. (No vampires) In this school, the guardians protects the goddesses and both cant fall in love with each other. If a guardian angel and a goddess decided to break the higher powers rule (the higher power controls Sage Samctum, he's the most powerful in all their kind- nobody knows who he is), they will be banished and live with the humans. However, Ruby is in love with her guardian angel, Eli. He also liked her back. Conflict: The higher power knew about Eli and Ruby's feelings towards each other & he didn't like it. (In the middle-end of the book, he told Ruby why he banned goddesses & guardian angels to be with each other. When he was younger, he fell for a goddess. And the goddess left him for a guardian angel. From then on, he decided that guardian angels and goddesses can never be together. This is also the part where they found out that he's a vampire. A vampire, an enemy, is controlling Sage Sanctum. Climax: The higher power wanted Ruby and Eli to work for him. If they refused or failed the task, he will kill all the people Ruby cares about & love. That is when Eli decided that she will come with her, since he's her guardian angel. Eli wanted to be there to protect Ruby. Eli also called Mr Aleksandrov who is their teacher in Sage. They had a plan to rescue Eli and Ruby & attack the rest of the vampires. Ruby told Hunter about their plan, but Hunter decided to tell the higher power. (Hunter was Ruby's close friend in Sage. He used to be a god, but the higher power turned him into a vampire after chasing Ruby to the woods. He used to be in love with Ruby) Resolution: Eli and Ruby continued their journey to kill other vampires. The guardian angels also came , even if they knew that Luciia (the higher power) knew they were coming. During the fight, Eli was bitten and Hunter came to save his life. Ruby was also close into killing Luciia but she decided to just use her stake - she missed and Luciia had the chance to escape and fled. He warned Ruby that he's coming back for her and the people she loved. The only choice Ruby had was to leave Sage and everyone else. (Only way to keep all of them safe) Eli wasn't happy about it, as a matter of fact, he was heart broken. Ruby had a necklace that can make her look like someone else if she had in on. (Only works for vampires) She'll use the necklace to start all over again. Theme: I think the theme for this book is betrayal. I learned that no matter how close and strong your relationship is to a certain person, if they decided to choose someone else over you; you can't do anything else other than the fact that you're now alone. In the book, Ruby and Hunter had this strong bond that connected them. Ruby liked Hunter more than she should, and Hunter felt the same way. But by the time Hunter turned into a vampire, he chose to follow Luciia (the vampire who turned him) over Ruby. I can compare and contrast this book to Romeo and Juliet. (FORBIDDEN LOVE) Ruby and Eli had a love affair that they weren't suppose to have in the first place, because the higher power banned all Guardian Angels and Goddesses to fall in love. Only Gods were the ones allowed to be with Goddesses. For Romeo and Juliet, these two young lovers kept their relationship a secret. If their family knew about their relationship, there's a chance that both house will disown their children. The difference between them is that in Sun Kissed, everyone in Sage Sanctum were used to following the policy about Guardian Angels and Goddesses, but in Romeo and Juliet, they only kept their marriage because of their parents . (Capulets and Montagues never got along)

Amy: The transition between books was very smooth, picking up right where things left off in book 1. Part of the reason I love this series so much is because of how great the story development and pacing is.. The authors growth as a writer is very noticeable in this book as well! Skyla rocks! The MCs Celeste: They definitely grew, especially Ruby. I think she was so sheltered growing up that she didn’t know what or who she was up against. She is ready to grow into her role as a goddess, and she is embracing her powers. Eli also seems to grow up in the way that he is made to sort out his priorities and realizes that he does care so deeply for Ruby even if it’s not allowed. Amy: Oh how I LOVE these two! Individually, Ruby and Eli are remarkable characters and together, they have a strong connection to one another and the potential for an amazing romance is palpable! I loved seeing them grow more secure both in themselves, and in their roles in the story. Romance /Chemistry Celeste: I am biting my nails, ready for Eli to just lose control and ravish Ruby. Come on!!! lol. Amy: Zomg. I NEED them to get together! Like yesterday. Lol Title/Cover Celeste: The title makes sense, especially because of who Ruby is. Well done! The cover is super pretty and has so much going on….and I love all of it! Amy: The cover is beautiful and perfectly introduces some of the important elements of the story.. I really love that. The title is perfect too! Twists and Turns Celeste: There was a character change *ahem* that surprised me. And the double crossing, well, I didn’t see that coming, but in the end I realized it couldn’t have happened any other way. There weren’t any that blew my socks off though. Ending Celeste: I’m so frustrated!! Hopefully it will be a short lived situation. I don’t want to say anymore, but I need to read the next book Right. This. Second. Amy: Thank the book tour gods that I have book 3 ready to go! Otherwise, I’d probably be crying.. Must.Read.Now! Gripes/suggestions Celeste: I’m out of control with my love of kissy time. I know that Ruby and Eli are not allowed to be together, but eeeeek, they had THAT WHOLE CRAZY LONG CAR RIDE. There were zero kisses. I know, I know, they were tired and the mission was serious. Also, besides love triangles my 2nd least favorite scenario is when one character leaves town for the sake of the protecting the other one. UGH. That is all. Amy: Alright.. Eli is starting to make me crazy now! For some reason, I just don’t fully believe his feelings for Ruby! *sadface* Yes, I know the feelings are there. And yes, I know love and intimacy are forbidden between Guardians and Goddesses, but that doesn’t mean he can be so dang difficult! I want to feel what he feels for her. I really want to feel that frustration because he can’t have her. These are two great characters that I LOVE and I want to be overwhelmed by the love they feel for each other, even if it is something that they must keep secret. Final Thoughts/Rec It? Celeste: YES. The scene is more than set and now that Ruby has better control of her powers I can’t wait to see what happens. Amy: Definitely. This is a great series so far.. I’m really enjoying it!

I actually like Madi's tendency to end things a little sadly and a whole lot unresolved. I think it works for the series. This book was chock-full of surprises. I think I may have a permanent crease between my eyebrows because my face did a workout in Sun Kissed. I was like WHAAT??? NOO??? THIS CAN'T BE HAPPENING!!!! the whole time. Nothing like a punch in the gut to keep you on your toes. We see people die, realities turned upside-down, and so much heartbreak. I really liked Hunter in this book. I was sad to see Ruby so easily reject him when he seems like a stand up guy. But it made for some great drama. Hunter has so much more personality compared to Eli. I have to say, I'm rooting for Hunter. So yeah, nothing will ever be the same after this book. Which is a good thing, change is good, even if it's hard to take. Be prepared to be scared. I was chilled to the bone quite often. Freakin' creepy vamps! The Bad Ruby is still kind of stupid. Bad, bad decisions. I wouldn't trust her to watch over my goldfish for two hours. She just doesn't have the logic side of her brain working. She straight up believes her enemies before she believes her friends. Why!!?? Though there were many exciting parts in Sun Kissed, there was also a lot of waiting around time, where the characters wait for the badies to come for them. The Snuggly Ruby really should have given Hunter a chance. I am still upset by how she treated him. I kind of lost faith in Eli after seeing how cute and fun Hunter could be. Kissing and touching in the snuggly meter. Final Thoughts If you read Sun Kissed have Salvation, book three, ready. Believe me, you won't want to be left hanging like that. This book was a thrill ride that kept me entertained for most of the time. Very recommended. Quotes “Knowing that someone here cared about me was like being given a box of matches when you’re stranded on a cold, deserted island.” “You know, at least Gabriel showed up announced like a gentleman. He even told Mila that she looked beautiful. You and your toothpick just show up, scaring me half to death.”

The thing is… Maybe is time to move on and give Hunter a chance, but just when she is starting to contemplate that possibility, Eli is back at Sage Sanctum and everything she feels for him resurface in full force. In this sequel to Guardian Angel, we have a lot more of action and we get to understand a little more how this whole supernatural world works. There are a lot of betrayals and confusions and massive revelations. We learn about Ruby’s father and about the High Power, Lucian, who we get to meet and realize he’s nothing like you would’ve expected. Ruby is supposed to be torn between Eli and Hunter, but I didn’t believe her when she talked about how much she cared about Hunter or how her feelings were torn between the two of them. From my perspective, there was never a doubt about Ruby being in love with Eli and Hunter was just added to create chaos. I liked this book a lot too. I think it was a great sequel to the first one. It was really fast-paced, full of emotions and adventures and really you don’t even get a single dull moment because there’s always something happening.

How anyone can rate this 5-stars is beyond me. I'm only a quarter through the book but I feel like I can't carry on. I'm pretty much sick of Ruby victimizing herself and always jumping to conclusions. Also, the whole thing about the higher ups being you-know-what is just ridiculous. So what, the guardian angels and gods are beneath that? Then, here comes the best part, Heelians which explode because they get overwhelmed by their emotions. However, it's just more prominent in the second book. Milan is just a dumb blond kind of character. True, she is kind, but my goodness! She's really an epitome of some ditsy dumb teenager who's just hung up on romance.

So this one really annoyed me. In the first one Ruby was more bad-A and she would stand up for herself and her friend, Mila. But in this one, Ruby is just so needy and depressive because her beloved Eli is not there for her. And then when the hott bad boy Hunter was hitting on her Ruby just denied him. In the first one Ruby was more bad-A and she would stand up for herself and her friend, Mila. But in this one, Ruby is just so needy and depressive because her beloved Eli is not there for her. this series gets better as it progresses.. As the main character grows and evolves, so does the story... the writing becomes more mature and complex.. it's written very well. In this book, Ruby learns the extent of her goddess powers... she is not only a goddess, but one of the last Heelian's in the world... she can harvest the power of the Sun within her, and she will need it more than ever now that she is working for the Higher Power this series gets better as it progresses.. It wasn't as gripping as the first one, I'm not sure why. I enjoyed it and didn't have to struggle to finish it or anything, but it just didn't grab me at all. I'm not even the least bit curious as to what happens next. I will say that I love that the author FINISHED each book but still brought something in to preview the next book. I've been reading so many books that just STOP and it was refreshing to read serial books that were ended correctly! It wasn't as gripping as the first one, I'm not sure why. So not even 1/2 as good as the first book. The story is still good & the relationship between Ruby & Eli is good. Here is my beef I didn't buy her & Hunter or even her "best" friendship with Mila. I hope book 3 makes more of those connections & I really feel like the main character is invested with ALL the other characters not just the love interest. So not even 1/2 as good as the first book. I read this book in one sitting again as I did the first book because I just really loved reading it. I laughed at times and thought some moments between Ruby and Eli were really sweet. If you didn't enjoy the first book so much but decided to give the series another chance with the second book, then you might enjoy it more now after this book. I'm looking forward to reading the third book next. I read this book in one sitting again as I did the first book because I just really loved reading it. This was another great read, it jumps straight in from the first book and keeps the reader turning the pages! Its such a great easy read I would recommend to others if looking for a book that you can snuggle up in front of the fire to when you have an hour or two to fill :) can't wait to start the next one to see what happens next! It's different The world the story is set in is definitely different, god's and goddesses, guardian angels and vampires.....and the higher power is a ??? That one kind of blew me away and because of ????? doesn't allow guardians and gods/goddesses to be together. This higher power strikes me as a jerk, and I am a for Ruby a d Eli to shake things up in the future. The only drawbacks I have with this story is Hunter becoming a vampire and Ruby could have killed Lucian with her sun power and saved everyone but instead she just had to stake him and did a poor job of it too!

This was a fantastic addition to book one- ends with a cliffhanger- but- not a bad one. Can't wait for book 3!!! Review to come!! This was a fantastic addition to book one- ends with a cliffhanger- but- not a bad one. Can't wait for book 3!!! Review to come!!
