But seriously, the journals are a totally different side story to the Inside Out Trilogy BUT a huge spoiler is in Being Me so read your nouvellas! Love love love Rebecca's story. She's a natural submissive but intensely afraid of losing total control to a man who can't give her what she wants most......LOVE. Why can't he be both? Master and lover? This book has the fidgety angst I CRAVE in books. Even though I know how it ends, I cannot wait to move on!

Ummm , tell me why did I read this ?! Okay , so my first thoughts about why these novella's were important was that they'll help us understand more about Rebecca . In reality , they do help us that way . And to put it simply she kinda pissed me off with her diddle daddle . She wants it and then she doesn't want it ! But what made up for her unsure state of mind was her 'MASTER' ... Damn , I think I know who he is ... She didn't ! And if it turns out to be who I think it is , then I must admit Rebecca or should I say the author has adopted a very intelligent way of reading the journal . I think I'll just leave it to that . Lets just hope that some of the answer that I've locked up in my head since are answered in !

So these are last two installments of Rebecca’s journals. All four journals should be read in between If I Were You and Being Me. All four journals are really short, but very well written. There’s no doubting the talent of this Author. The tone of the journals is definitely getting darker and dare I say it downright scary. It’s as if we are just waiting for those dreams to bleed into reality for Rebecca. Still so many secrets and so many questions to be answered. However, we feel the real struggle that Rebecca goes through. Saving her independence and her free will, save herself, as opposed to signing it all away by becoming her Master’s submissive. A Master we do not at this point know the identity of. We learn more about who the Master is, by descriptive traits and clues woven through Rebecca’s diary entries. In my opinion Volume 4 is the best one. On one hand we see a side of the Master that humanises him. He cares, he wants to protect, and he wants Rebecca to be fully aware of what her actions mean and not to go lightly. The way he speaks to her at times like after one of her nightmares, you really feel the connection. Oh and those nightmares….premonition of what will happen? Then on the other hand his actions and intentions become darker and more intense. Scenes of utter detachment and dis-regard as if he’s trying to push away any feelings he may be developing. As a reader we get the full hit of emotion and feel Rebecca’s fear, anxiety, lust and passion. Her dilemma is clear as we play detective trying to find out who the elusive Master is whilst agonising with Rebecca over that important decision. Does she sign or not and what really happened? The end made me feel really morose and I think I know who the Master is so I’m straight onto Being Me now to see if I’m proven right!! Nothing is actually revealed – not the identity of her Master or where she has disappeared to or why. I don’t feel that I’ve gained any real insights into the greater story and I’m just as in the dark as I was when I started. I guess I should have expected this – Sara has read these journals and she doesn’t know anything either and we only got as much knowledge as she has. I guess I understand the need not to spoil the plot before the release of Being Me but I feel a little disappointed, it’s all a little anti-climactic. I guess I thought, that after reading all four, I would have learned a little more. Ack well, I’m still very much looking forward to Being Me but not reading these novellas, won’t impact on your enjoyment of that trilogy. That's something I have been questioning myself but more so the answer to who "master" really is is killing me and it keeps me reading and wanting more of this story. I can also tell by the way that Rebecca writes her journals that their scenes have grown much darker and more intense than the sessions in the previous journals and the darker they get the more confused and lost she seems to become. As I read this I could feel my heart breaking for Rebecca she just seems to want so much more than she is getting out of her master and I wonder if she will. This volume was by far the best out of the four volumes and I now look forward to reading Being Me the next installment in the Inside Out trilogy.

Ok by this time, even if you havent read all the journals. (Which are short so you have no excuse. :) ) You know from the titles along that Rebecca has signed the contract with the Master. We have watched her though her journal entries come to see what this world she is being led into is and have watched her try to figure out if she belongs there. She loves her Master, but does he love her, and we still dont know who "he" is. The author has done a great job keeping his identity a secret. We really get to watch her struggle to find herself and what she wants in this journal and its just as much of a roller coaster ride as the previous journals.

These freaking entries are so damn intense! Can't wait until the release of book two next week! Now I'm almost convinced that Mark is Rebecca's Master. I wonder how many more journal entries are going to be released and how long until my suspicions over "his" identity are confirmed or denied. Hmmm and I wonder who can he be then if not Mark. I like that Rebecca showed a little spunk in this one, I did wonder that she was beginning to totally lose herself because her master was suppressing her so much. I wish we could find out who her master is already. I guess that will happen in the main books though.

(Source: I own a copy of this book.) This was another interesting short, and I liked this one because Rebecca finally got tough, and really stuck up for her own ideas and values, and refused to let her ‘Master’ control her any more. She’s been fairly willing to go along with anything up ‘til now, so it was nice to see her trying to take back a bit of that control. It did feel like this wasn’t the end of Rebecca’s story though, which is obviously a bit frustrating! Overall; Rebecca takes back some (Source: I own a copy of this book.) After the last contract renewal she has moved in with her Master and the time for the next renewal negotiations is fast approaching. Rebecca is having serious second thoughts though. As much as she has fallen in love with her Master, she is convinced that his feelings for her are nowhere near as deep. “I know he cares about me in the way he believes is the ultimate showing of affection and commitment.” And what is more, with each subsequent negotiation He draws her deeper into the BDSM world, pushing her limits well beyond that with which she is comfortable. “He’s pulling me inside that dark hole that is his escape. Only there is no escape for me.” More worryingly, He doesn’t seem to be aware that he is pushing her too hard and too fast. “Not when every scene pushes me beyond the limits that mean pleasure for me. He doesn’t see that, either. And as my Master, he should.” Rebecca’s nightmares have returned and she can’t help feeling that something horrible is waiting for her, just out of sight, ready to pounce. With her Master away Rebecca decides to spend the weekend in her own flat, a decision He isn’t happy about. It is the right decision for her though because on her own, in her familiar surroundings she starts writing in her journal again and in doing so manages to process her feelings. “I’m on an emotional rollercoaster ride and he’s not. That bothers me. It’s telling. But what is it telling me?” Rebecca is willing to accept that she is very special to her Master: “You’re the only sub I’ve ever asked to do this.” But she doesn’t want to be just his best sub. Rebecca wants and needs a proper relationship. “These are the moments that I revel in, when he doesn’t hold back, when he doesn’t restrain me or himself. We are just... us.” But a proper relationship is not what her Master is looking for and probably not something he is capable of either. And though it would break her heart, Rebecca is getting ready to walk away. Because staying would break her completely. What I really love about this book is that it shows us another side to a BDSM relationship. In most books in this genre we encounter an experienced Master who connects with a girl who has never even thought about the power-exchange dynamic, only to discover that she has a submissive nature and revels in such a relationship. Rebecca’s journals show us what happens when the girl in question, while enjoying some aspects of the dynamic, isn’t looking for anything beyond a “standard” relationship even if it does include a few kinky aspects. Looking at a relationship in which things don’t just come together perfectly makes this a fascinating and realistic story. Combined with the beautiful writing and the ongoing mystery as to who exactly the Master is, these short novellas are an absolute delight to read. And, now that I’ve finished the fourth in this series I’m more than ready for Being Me. Which is just as well since it will be released in just a few days time.

If I Were You is the first book in a erotic romantic suspense trilogy. The Inside Out trilogy begins with the heroine, Sara, gaining possession of Rebecca’s journal. This journal was discovered by a friend who won Rebecca’s unpaid storage locker. The journal is filled with some very disturbing, yet erotic pages and it prompts Sara to find Rebecca and return to her the items of her storage unit, journal and to make sure she is okay. The journal is an integral part of the trilogy and leaves the reader wanting to know more about Rebecca and what she wrote. Finally, we are getting what we've craved. Ms. Jones has released 5 volumes of Rebecca’s Journals. Supposedly, these 5 volumes Sara didn’t even get to see. I will review each volume individually even though they are only about 40 pages each. Rebecca’s Lost Journals, Volume 4: My Master is definitely the most disturbing of the volumes and that’s really saying something. This volume highlights the soon to be end of the contract. In the beginning Rebecca and Mark agreed to a specific amount of time for the Dom/Sub relationship. Now, the time is coming to a close and Rebecca is panicking. We really get a good picture of her addiction to Mark and how afraid she is of going on with things as they are, yet not wanting things to go on as they are. Rebecca’s thoughts and emotions are truly out of control in this volume. She tries to demand or force her independence, yet seems to sabotage it at the same time. We see how Mark wants a future with Rebecca, but not really the same future that Rebecca sees. We are left with Rebecca truly falling apart this time. I feel like this book really gives us a peak into the state of mind that Rebecca was in when she put her things in storage and disappeared, if that’s what really happened. The scenes we enact together take me deeper and deeper into the places I know represent his internal hell, and yet I can’t pull him back. Instead, he’s pulling me inside that dark hole that is his escape. Only there is no escape for me anymore: not when every scene pushes me beyond the limits that mean pleasure for me. He doesn't see that, either. And as my Master, he should. Oddly, as I’m beginning to find me again, I think he’s completely lost me. Or maybe I've lost him. Thank you to Simon and Schuster publishing for the loan of this book in exchange for my honest review. This installment also had a sad, yet hopeful feeling to it throughout the whole read. Volume 4: My Master, takes place about a year after His Submissive ended. They have renewed the contract several times, and are getting ready to renew again. Rebecca has fallen deeper and deeper in love with her Master, but is now realizing he will never feel the same. "...he says love is a facade that twists people in knots, and yes, he's gone so far as to say that it destroys." Rebecca is starting to become a little more self-aware and is beginning to find herself again. “He’s an addiction, and addictions are never good for you.” Her nightmares are coming more often now, and she knows this relationship is getting the better of her. "The scenes we enact together take me deeper and deeper into the places I know represent his internal hell, and yet I can’t pull him back. But we also see that Master is getting a little more desperate to keep her, and Rebecca is getting strong enough to stand up for herself and her needs. While there are no new answers given, there are a lot more clues. Clues that make it seem as though Rebecca may have just taken off for her own sanity. But we still just don't know. Rating: 4 stars 4 Heat While I have really enjoyed these little novellas, I am just getting antsy to read Being Me, the next full-length novel, where Sara gets caught in seemingly the same web that Rebecca did. Hopefully there will be some more answers! Please visit my blog Ana's Attic Book Blog and like me on Facebook
