I love short stories but am just a bit wary of love stories. However I end up reading most of the anthologies published in India, whatever the genre. This is by far the BEST love story collection I have read till date. The stories are crisp, well written and edited and most leave a warm afterglow in your heart. Go for it if you like short stories/ love stories.

It is a collection of good and average love stories shortlisted in a nation wide contest by Penguin India which is the best part about the book. They had organised a nation wide competition and finally the top 25 where selected which got published here. Ravinder did his part too by editing and making it better. It definitely has some moving, inspirational, heartwarming and heartbreaking stories which makes you believe that some of these authors will go and become big names in future for sure. 3 stars are for the books I 'just' like. In a way, it was a nice read and a worthy concept by the writer. Since its a compilation of love stories submitted by different people, one might conclude with different opinions for each one. Some are peppy, some heart-touching and some average (strictly according to me). All in all, its a good one for a quick read. :) 3 stars are for the books I 'just' like. This is a collection of 25 stories with the theme "Love" based on a contest. Edited by Ravindra Singh with an introduction. Easy and quick read. I find few stories interesting as well as touching. This is a collection of 25 stories with the theme "Love" based on a contest. Edited by Ravindra Singh with an introduction. Easy and quick read. Ravinder earlier two books- ‘I too have a love story’ and ‘Can Love happen Twice’ were really nothing much to talk about. They were simple- quite honest but lacked twist and the power to keep you glued on. So picking up ‘Love Stories That Touched My Heart‘ was definitely risky. Being an anthology with a spread of short love stories by diverse set of young authors was the bait and yours truly fell for it. Contest was organised by PENGUIN- so I trust this publisher to do a great job. Quality lies in quantity- so whatever maybe the process and the selector- the contest with more than 2000 entries would throw up a spectrum of stories. The romantic in me was willing to give it a try. rest of the review at http://creative.sulekha.com/love-stor...

After two super hit novels from the author a lot was expected in this collection of stories but it fails to generate any spark and doesnt lives upto the expectations. Very boring stories and very much similar to each other doesnt seems to justify the author's potential. Not up to the mark. The editorial note spoke high about the writers whose works have been compiled which compelled me to buy the book.Unfortunately the stories lacked class, depth and are very childish. It might have touched the editor's heart but it certainly fails to touch a reader's heart. I am amazed how the Penguin metro reads chose to publish such average material. It is just not impressive. Love stories.....the word has beauty...inexpressable and pure....and through out the book most stories maintained that pure feeling..."Heartstrings","flirting","a pair of shoes","the last note" and many more stories were beautifully written and seriously 'touched my heart'. "Just because I made love to u..." wasn't worth being a part of the book because it wasn't at all a love story. But for I love Ravinder Singh I would say this was a nyc book. Good to see this anthology from Ravin has covered the precious feeling of Love from almost all age groups. Right from the school going boy in "The Girl behind the counter" to the old aged peoples in "Love is also a Compromise" & "A pair of shoes". Truly said that Love has no age and it can blossom in your heart at any moment of your life. Only thing you need to keep the doors wide open to welcome it wholeheartedly. Really enjoyed reading.. The best short stories collection I have read till date ! If the stories are from same author, there will be some similarities among them.. At some point, there will be thought of monotony.. But, since this one is a compilation from different authors, there is lot of variety to enjoy ... ! Though all stories are based on love, they displayed variety in love.. There are few stories which are not up to the mark.. But there are many that will touch our heart <3

Synopsis – The book describes all emotions connected with love – anger, frustration, anxiety, eagerness, delicateness and nervous energy. While routing through these emotions, plenty of writers in this treasury takes you through first infatuation, first breakup, love- marriage, love in the second innings, love across decades, love across genders and sexual orientations and love across generations. This anthology is made up of heart touching stories that will make you feel that love is the most spiritual emotion. So if you are romantic enough and love to read tales of romances that yield from the real life, then the book is ideal bet for you. . My Review – This anthology is the best one I have ever read. Being a die-hard reader of romantic novels, I was, at first, not sure of how the stories will turn out. But, when I began reading the book, my apprehensions were cleared as the stories turned out to be heart touching. Some of the stories turned out to be emotional, some were straightforward in nature. I immensely loved this book. The writers of the stories showcased every aspect of love – fear, pain, excitement – with aplomb. ❤ Some stories deeply moved me. ❤ These stories are – The Girl Behind the Counter – Omkar Khandekar (Special ❤ to this story !) A Train to My Marriage – Vandana Sharma Flirting – Vinayak Nandkarni May God Bless You, Dear – Yamini Vijendran (Special ❤ to this story too !) Cheers To Love – Renu Bhutoria Sethi A Village Love Story – Haseeb Peer Never Forget Me – Renuka Vishwanathan A Tale of Two Strangers – Swagata Pradhan Bittersweet Symphony – Jennifer Ashraf Kashmi (Special ❤ to this story too !) Heartstrings – Dr Roshan Radhakrishnan (Special ❤ to this story too !) A Pair of Shoes – Manaswita Ghosh The Smiling Stranger – Lalit Kundalia The Last Note – Amrit Sinha The Uncertainties of Life – Arpita Ghosh Here’s How It Goes – Arka Datta The remaining 10 were also liked by me, but these 15 had something special in them, so they got the special mention. ❤ . Overall, the anthology is an excellent read for the reader. You will enjoy this love book! ❤ . P.S. – I am a die-hard reader of romantic novels, that’s 100% true !

This collection consists of different types of stories. I mean they all of course are love stories but what distinguishes them apart is the quality. On the whole, the entire collection is a little better than sheer average, just that some stories are better than the rest. I could not help but notice a touch of bollywood in some of them.I mean I have heard of crappy hindi films based on crappy Indian novels, but as if that was not enough, now we have books based on bollywood!! But some stories really felt straight from the heart and genuine. Although I cant ignore writers attempting to write bollywood scripts, yet I am happy that Indians are still reading and writing. And given that this book was published around 7 to eight years back, and being the pure optimist that I am, I really hope things have only changed for the better for the Indian literary scene, since then. As for this book, I have already said, it is quite average, but keeps you entertained. If you want to go for a light, breezy book you can pick this one up. And in case you turn out to be a bollywood lover, this book would be like the proverbial cherry on cake for you! Happy reading1!!!
