Almost great, but the embers burnt out quickly This Book had the potential to be great. It quickly went downhill about halfway through the book . There was a great start and a great promise for a new apocalyptic world, and the characters seemed to be really really well formed. However, after the first half of the book everything was just a jumbled hot mess. The characters quickly became one-dimensional and the story moved such a fast pace that it seemed forced and flat . I received Corded in return for an honest review from the author. Kayla lives in a world where women are few and far between and they are used as breeders or in clubs. While Kayla stays at home she's protected by her baby brother and rather hidden from the traders who hope to find girls to sell. While Kayla stays at home she's protected by her baby brother and rather hidden from the traders who hope to find girls to sell. When the life she knows is threatened she finds herself taken from the only home she's know and her sister headed for Center a breeding facility. Determined to get her sister back she escapes from her captors, and flee's to the city in hopes of finding Ethan a boy she grew up with. Kayla's only chance to get her sister back is by making a deal with Mason the leader of one of the clubs where Ethan is. Little did she know at the time that she would find more than she bargained for and Mason might just be what she needs. Will Kayla get her sister back? What about her growing connection to Mason? I like Kayla she's a good person who's had a rough life but doesn't want to give up on finding her sister yet. I like that she's willing to risk her life to do what is right and isn't afraid to fight for what she wants. I wasn't sure about Mason at first but as the book progresses I knew he was the one. The chemistry between the two just works so well and they found what they are missing in life. The characters are great I found Kayla easy to connect with really liking her and even Mason found a place in my heart. We also have a few supporting characters I'm looking forward to seeing again. I've had my eye on Corded for years anxiously waiting for it to come out and at last the moment has come. I love the author's books but this is outside her normal genre so I was a little unsure what to expect. Corded is an emotional rollercoaster, it pulled me out of my comfort zone as Kayla makes a deal to join the other girls if Mason can get her sister. The way that women are treated is awful but in all honestly it makes sense that this is how it would happen in a dystopia world. Corded is a beautifully written story it sparked all kinds of emotions as the book progressed. It was hard to put down I had to know what was going to happen to Kayla and Mason next. I can't wait to get my hands on the next one.

Now, it's no secret that I am a huge fan of Alyssa Rose Ivy's paranormal romances, so when I found out that she was writing a dystopian novel, I just knew I had to read it! And boy, does she not disappoint!! Corded is the first book in an exciting new series from Alyssa Rose Ivy. Corded is unlike anything that we've ever seen from this author before. Told from dual points of view, Corded follows the story of Kayla and Mason. Kayla has lived her entire life in hiding. She lives in a society where being a woman is a not only rare, but also a crime. People will stop at nothing to get their hands on a woman. Everyday that Kayla is alive, is a dangerous one. If Kayla thought being hidden from society was tough, she was in for a tough surprise. When Kayla and her sister are kidnapped, her entire world will be turned upside down. Kayla will stop at nothing to save and free her sister. There is no price too high. Kayla will go and do things that she never expected to save her family, even seeking help from a dangerous club and its leader, Mason. Just how far will Kayla go to save her sister??? There is only one way to find out... Corded was a thrilling and entertaining read. I was pulled in from the very first page and easily got lost in this dystopian world that Alyssa Rose Ivy created. It was so unique and so refreshing. Mason was a really special treat. I'm not gonna lie, I was totally on the fence about him in the beginning and I totally questioned his intentions over the course of the story. But, in the end, he totally won me over. So, when you meet Mason, don't discount him. There is so much more to Corded than meets the eye. The setting and story-line are amazing. I loved the theme of family, of how important it was and just how rare and special women were. I loved seeing some light and sweet moments in a dark and harsh world. This story is definitely darker than what we normally see from this author and while the world she created may have been a harsh one, it is definitely one that will keep you on your toes and quickly turning the pages. Corded is a fast paced and exciting read. This story is incredibly well written and thrilling. I think that the author was incredibly brave taking on the dystopian genre. It is something totally different from her and I am so excited to see where she is going to take our characters and their story next. And I promise you, after Corded, you are going to be begging the author to get Book 2 in your hands, asap! *I was provided an ARC copy of this book, in exchange for an honest review*

I'm thinking Mason enjoys his woman in a swimsuit, "he picked me up and set me down on the edge of the pool. I shivered from the cold. “You look dangerous in that thing.” He put a finger underneath one of the string ties of my swimsuit." I really enjoyed this book, I loved Mason. Kayla was a spitfire, the girl was brave and strong. This book did end on a cliffhanger, but I didn't mind as the two characters I wanted togethet were together. Sometimes it can be in issue due to instalove but this didn't feel too instalove. Sometimes it's an issue because authors choose to drag it out for five books but it happens and I feel it is well paced. Bad Thing: One major bad thing is the freaking cliff hanger! I REALLY HATE CLIFF HANGERS! The way this book is paced is such that by the time you get to the ending while it could be seen as a satisfactory ending- it feels more like the record just got scratched and the music got shut off. BOOOO. I guess I'll wait for Part 2 of this book that the post note announces will arrive in later in 2017. If that book 2 ends in another cliff hanger I'm going to strike this author off for consideration in the future.

This was pretty interesting read set in a dystopian world but I wish it was a bit long because I think 190 pages is too short for this story. Nonetheless, I enjoyed reading it. Although it wasn't a total perfection, I liked the unique concept, the setting and also the main characters. Kayla lives in a world where 99 percent of population is men. Being woman in her world is very rare and treated as precious commodities that is hard to find. They only have two fates - either get marked by a club or send to central, a breeding facility by the government. To avoid either of those cruel fates, kayla has lived her entire life in hiding in her rural village. When the traders finds her family, Kayla, her sister and her niece gets kidnapped by them. After somehow escaping from the traders, Kayla travels to city in search of a club where she could find her old friend Ethan who can maybe help her but instead she finds the club leader Mason, who is willing to help her but only if she becomes his. Kayla will do anything to save her sister and her niece from the central even if she has to sacrifice her freedom she'll not hesitate but she never expected to fall in love along the way though. I liked Kayla! She's a survivor and fighter who'll go to any length's to save her family. I admired her courage and also her love for her sister. Mason is quite an intriguing character. Honestly, I didn't like him at first but as the story progressed, I grew to love him as well. Kayla and Mason has a great chemistry. It was a slow burning romance but I do feel it was a bit rushed maybe it has to do with the short length of the story. Nonetheless, I loved their relationship and the hot romance. I quiet enjoyed how they grew to love each other. For the supporting characters, I liked Jarrett and Addison. I pretty much hated Greer, he is quite a loathsome guy who is totally cunning and a complete douchebag. The plot was unique, thrilling, and engaging. Being a fan of dystopian books, I've never read anything like this before so it was totally refreshing to read. It held my attention through out and It would be great if the ending wasn't too rushed. The story moved in fast pace and told in dual pov. I liked the writing and the world building. The world the author created is every women's worst nightmare because the women in this world have no freedom and treated like a thing that can be claimed or a slave that only exist for pleasuring men and also not to forget the breeder thing which definitely makes it a pretty fucked up world. I really don't want to imagine myself in this cruel world but I do want to know how Kayla's journey continues. Overall, I liked it! The only flaw it has was the fast pacing which made the story feel a bit rushed but apart from that, it was a good read and I'll definitely look forward to the next book.

I'm starting to feel their chemistry, and I'm already worried about them, and wondering what their futures will bring in this brutal world. This is a different kind of story than what I've read by Alyssa in the past. It's darker and more tragic, and it's the first of her worlds that I don't want to live in, but I'm loving it for all those reasons. The ARC of Corded by Alyssa Rose Ivy was kindly provided to me by the author for review. The opinions are my own.

I enjoyed reading this book - it's the first I've read from this author. Corded follows the story of our heroine, Kayla, and her journey into the city (Central) to rescue her sister and niece. The author doesn't go deep into the horrors that women in this world face, and focuses more solely on our lucky Kayla, which I appreciate. I think where I could have used just a little bit more meat is the ending. Pretty suddenly, disaster strikes and the club is in flames. The hero and heroine are on their own now? I need more! I'm also looking forward to hearing what happened to the other characters in the story - Taylor, Jarret, Addison, even Bolton. Will be waiting for Book 2...

Usually being a fan of the instant love path most writers of romance choose to go down, this one didn't live up to a believable standard. I just couldn't understand how suddenly talk of love was being shared between the two characters. Maybe the book was just to short and if it had been longer their relationship could have developed in a more believable way. That being said I did really enjoy the book, and will carry on reading the rest of the saga.

I almost put this book down about mid-way through, but I looooove Alyssa Rose Ivy, so I stuck it out & finished, and I'm beyond glad I did!! The treatment of women had me on edge, as I don't like violence towards women at all & I was so afraid I was going to read about something happening to a woman that I couldn't stomach. Thankfully, that never happened & I am now thoroughly enthralled with & mesmerized by this series. Once this story gets going, it doesn't stop & it leaves you wanting more. I liked the idea behind the story - The majority of the population is male, females are commodities who are brought and sold and forced to breed, there is a fertility problem so the human population is dying out. However in terms of the actual book, I felt that it was a bit lacking. The story seemed to move too quickly for my liking. I didn't like that it seemed as though i was breezing through the story and I would have preferred for it to have been 'padded out' more. Horrible writing, amateurish, very bland. Things happen to fast, not enough explained. Why would Colton do what he did - it was laughable. In fact I didn't read much pass that point, Mason the H was just introduced, and even that scene, and The Club was ridiculous. Good plotline, but needs to be fleshed out and written better. Hero has been with others but there is no real detail and he is 'corded' to the heroine quite early on in the story so there will be no others for him. Trilogy. Interesting story. Literally one of the worst books I've ever read. Premise was promising, but the execution just wasn't there. Steadily got worse - it was so, so disappointing.
