5 stars Wow lots of action and drama from Idaho to Switerland. With Americans,Germans,Russians and Swiss as main characters. This book follows Einstein's Trunk. I have not read it but events from it are mentioned a few times and now I want to read it too. Rulon Hurt is a cowboy rancher in Idaho, his wife Yohaba is Swiss. Her grandfather was Einstein. Rulon used to be a agent from the State department in Switzerland in the OCD. Her grandfather was Einstein. Rulon used to be a agent from the State department in Switzerland in the OCD. Now because of events in Einstein's Trunk every six months the Russians send over thier best fighter from new agents to a bar in Idaho to fight Rulon. Rulon tries to talk the guy out of fighting through his wife translating. Yohaba instead of translating tries to egg on the Russian. Boris is the Russian who is sent to fight Rulon. The fight is over fast. Some skinheads want to beat up Boris and Rulon takes on all four of them. They take Boris out to thier ranch to stay. The skin heads are members of the Nazi group in Idaho and they don't take it easy that 4 of thier guys got beat up by one guy. They want revenge and start a chain of events. In Europe one main Nazi group has stolen two virus and one of them is the plague. They have to be stopped. Helmut finds out that Rulon Hurt is in Idaho so he leaves the case with the viruses in a train locker and flies to Idaho for revenge on Rulon. Thier is lots of action and everytime you think it will slow down something else happens. Boris and Yohaba get close and rely on each other as they try and find out what is in the locker. I did not want to put the book down till I had finshed reading it. If thier is a third book I will buy it and read it for sure. I like Rulon and would like to see more of him again some day. Boris has lots of surprises in him. Yohaba finds it is not so easy to solve problems with killing someone. I like it that everytime someone started to swear they got stopped. This is a clean read but a lot of fights in it. Spies in it. I never realized how much of what Hitler did was planned out to such a extent and groups are still doing that today. I was given this ebook to read and asked to give honest reviews from Netgalley. 03/12/2013 PUB Cedar Fort Inc Bonneville 320 pages ISBN-10: 1462111858

Oh man, this was an excellent read and I can't believe I didn't rate and review it 8 months ago when I read it….undoubtedly because I was in the process of moving (twice) to new homes and a new town. One does not often read a second book by a new author that is as good as the first book, but that is certainly the case here. In fact, this book was even better than Haberkorn's first book, which I also rated 5 stars. I'm hoping there will be a third novel! His characters are well drawn and believable, the settings varied and descriptive, the story exciting, and the writing is superb. I especially give it kudos for being a squeaky clean read, proof that such a thing is possible even in gritty modern spy novels. Yay!

In Jim Haberkorn’s A Thousand Suns, we pick up a few years after the end of Einstein’s trunk (the first book in the series—which I recommend reading first, of course) where Rulon and Yohaba are settled happily on a ranch in Idaho. Everything is perfect until a fight between Rulon and some Nazis turns the small group against him. All of a sudden, everyone’s after Rulon: Nazis, KGB, and even a few freelancers. Everything is perfect until a fight between Rulon and some Nazis turns the small group against him. All of a sudden, everyone’s after Rulon: Nazis, KGB, and even a few freelancers. When Rulon is put into the hospital, Yohaba decides it’s time to end this and off she goes back to her homeland (Switzerland) with Boris (a KGB agent) in tow. All the characters are full of life, whether they be good or evil. Yohaba always has a comeback, and Boris makes a great sidekick! Tracking through the ‘wilds’ with the two of them makes for a great time! In A Thousand Suns, we learn: • Idaho Cowboy lingo (Dang, heck, darlin’, babe) and all things Ranchers (moving pipe, driving tractors, re-shingling a shed) • Hitler Nazi philosophy • WWII History from both points of view (American and Eastern Europe) • Weaponry lingo! We read the names and descriptions of just about every legal (and illegal, for that matter) assault rifle, hunting rifle, pistol, handgun, etc., there is. Plus, we learn how to load, unload, clean, take apart, and pack in your suitcase to avoid security detection at the airport! • How to pick out the tell-tale signs of someone following you in a crowd • The 3 emotional/mental stages of tiger hunting At times gritty, always funny, and full of non-stop action, A Thousand Suns will keep you up late into the night, racing through the streets of Switzerland and wondering if there will ever be ‘happily ever after’ for Yohaba and Rulon. We don’t find out yet, by the way, so keep your eyes open for part three in the future! Review courtesy of Compass Book reviews. To see the full content review, visit www.compassbookratings.com!

I LOVED the suspense and the action and the love between a husband and a wife! Incredibly well written it keeps you turning the pages to find out what is going to happen next and how they are going to resolve the conflicts that just keep coming their way. What it doesn't tell you is all the other great parts! The way the wife translates for her husband...very fun! The multiple fist fights to defend one's honor. The gun-slinging to protect life. Hammer throwing (had to look this one up...very interesting) The possible bio-chemical warfare. The insatiable revenge of one man and his father. The love and honor of another man. The love of a wife who will go to any lengths to help her husband stop running or from even being killed. For as his enemies hate him with "the heat of a thousand suns"...she loves him with that same passion only her thousand suns "burn hotter." This book is SO GOOD! LOVED LOVED LOVED IT! A definite MUST READ!

OK, I have conflicted feelings about this book. First, the title felt "borrowed." I don't know what that means exactly but it isn't a compliment. Second, be warned that this is, evidently, a sequel or second book in a series after Einstein's Trunk. I had not read Einstein's Trunk first so perhaps I missed some stuff? Maybe, like the whole CERN stuff and Einstein's calculations. Say what? Third, I really did not enjoy all the cultural references...movies, quotes, the names, etc. Fourth, I did a l OK, I have conflicted feelings about this book. First, the title felt "borrowed." Third, I really did not enjoy all the cultural references...movies, quotes, the names, etc. Fourth, I did a lot of scan-reading (also not a compliment) but I did read it to the end to see how the story turned out. Fifth, I could not tell if it ended in a way that a third book would follow or not but I felt a bit up in the air at the end like, "OK, what now?" Sixth, I thought the cover of the book was beautiful. Seventh, I did like the main characters, particularly Boris. Eighth, I do not think the whole Mormon thing added anything to the story and I can only assume that it had something to do with book 1? So, in conclusion, how many stars? Probably 2.5--two stars for all the scan-reading/but finishing the book, and an extra .5 for the last half of the book that was more engaging than the first half. Then round up to three stars. I can live with that.
