I enjoyed this. Sometimes SP books can be more miss than hit and then suddenly you find one that just surprises you . This was a simple and straightforward story with no angst, just two well matched characters exploring their feelings and working towards completing their mate bond. It has a good but not too obvious way of revisiting old characters from the previous book and introducing the next set of characters, but it does this in a subtle way that doesn't spoil or detract from this story. As entertaining as the first book in the series, this volume picks up the story from Mackenzie's brother's point of view. Rylee is a hunter, tasked to keep humans safe from paranormals, and his issues with suddenly having some of those same paranormals as in-laws are significant. They pale in comparison to finding out he is attracted to a werewolf, though, and that is just the starting point for this book. Written with as much humor as the first book, this one made me laugh. They pale in comparison to finding out he is attracted to a werewolf, though, and that is just the starting point for this book. Written with as much humor as the first book, this one made me laugh. I was able to relate to Rylee's coffee addiction really well, and love the idea of a werewolf with a sweet tooth! Rylee may be a hunter of paranormals, and his parents may want him to continue the family traditions, but having grown up with Mackenzie, an adopted paranormal boy, has given Rylee a level of insight into them which other hunters don’t have. He is more lenient (at least toward the ones who don’t misbehave), so when he first meets Arden, a werewolf, he doesn't reject him outright. The closer they get though, the more conflicted Rylee becomes – he realizes his current way of life will end if they mate. Arden may be an alpha werewolf, but he is not one of those dominant-at-any-cost, macho types who think they can run their mate's life. He is a very modern-day alpha, which was fun to discover. Not only is he addicted to donuts (which fits well with Rylee's coffee dependency), he is very understanding and tolerant in his dealings with Rylee. His mating instincts and need to have Rylee close are as strong as the next werewolf's, but he is able to let his brain rule – most of the time. And when he loses control it Is only with Rylee's full agreement and participation. Very hot! If you like stories with lots of humor as well as internal and external conflict, if you enjoy watching a werewolf and a hunter come to terms with their attraction as they tear up the sheets, and if you're looking for a hot read with an entertaining plot, then you will probably like this book.

While not as good as book one, I found it to be a really good read. Werewolf Arden comes across as a good 'man' knowing that even though Ry is his mate, nothing is guaranteed. He still has to work at it, earn his mate's trust and commitment and not force the claiming even if Ry wouldn't have known what it meant at the beginning. Hunter Ry also a good character developed to me. Even knowing there is some kind of 'bond' between them he feels he can't just jump in. Hunter Ry also a good character developed to me. Even knowing there is some kind of 'bond' between them he feels he can't just jump in. Even though he's scared and been hurt in the past, he takes a chance and slowly lets Arden in and learns to trust. A werewolf claiming leads to the mate in question (if not already so) to turn into a werewolf. I half expected at the end by the time the claiming takes effect, that Rylee would somehow be even more special.. maybe a hunter/werewolf hybrid? I guess I expected something similar to Mackenzie's claiming at the end.. but still a fun and humorous book

All starts with a party. Julian and Mack are celebrating their marriage and have an important announcement to make. Rylee is talking with other guests, one of them is Brynn and the incubus is trying to make the hunter feel at ease, since he understands that the human isnt used to be around all this paranormals creatures. While the 2 are talking, Arden comes near them and Brynn understands from the wolf attitude that he wants to be left alone with Rylee. Brynn is really smart and realizes that Rylee and Arden are mates. They are finally alone and able to talk. There is lust btw them, and none of them is shy. They have had other experiences and know what they want. Sadly this is still not the time to act on their instincts. When Julian and Mack tell to their guests that they will soon become parents, Rylee is shocked and doesnt know what to do. He fears for his brother health, but at the same time he is happy to become an uncle. Rylee needs to think and he cant do it in the hall full of guests, he leaves the party and Arden follows him. They are in a room alone and the mate pull is strong, if not for a knock on the door they would have ended up having sex, but they have the time to only kiss. Julian and Mack come in the room and the 2 brothers are able to talk. Ry tells Mack that he is worried, but the younger man explains to him that he shouldnt be. Ry ends up staying for the night in one of the guests room and Arden does the same. Later that night, Arden and Rylee end up having sex, and we find out that Rylee left his boyfriend only few weeks ago, when he had found the man cheating on him. He cant easily trust other ppl and he doesnt want to suffer like he did for David. Arden makes love to him like he is preacious, understanding that the man needs to be loved. The next day when Arden asks him what he is gonna do, Rylee understands that he isnt only asking about his day, but about them. Ry tells him that his hunter nature makes him unable to be with a werewolf. He wants Arden to understand, but at the same time when he sees the pain on the werewolf's face,he is crushed. One week passes and they both miss the other,Arden cant work and isnt focusing on his pack, while Ry cant stop thinking about their night together. Finally Arden decides to go to Ry's apartment. There they have a little chat and end up having sex again. Arden tells him that they are mates, and that he wants to claim him, but that in doing so, Ry will become a werewolf. The hunter knows that he needs to make a decision, but he is still not ready. In this book there are a lot of sex scenes, and less plot. While we read about their growing relationship we also see another part of the plot. The one that sees David back. The author decides that we needed a little angst and puts David, Ry's ex, back in the story. The man wants Rylee, that also works as an architect to build his house. Is a big job, and Ry's boss wants him to do all he can to have it done. David is jerk and not only a cheater but also a lier. He made an accord with the leader of a vampire coven,Barnaby. They will give him immortality if he takes Rylee to them. We will only find out what the vampire want with Rylee in the 3rd book. Thanks to Arden and his friends Julian, and Orion the leader of another vampire coven, they are able to save Rylee from the vampires who wanted to kidnap him. Thanks also to the informations that Grier, an omega that Arden saved from the same fate only few weeks ago, provided them. We know that Grier and Orion will be the MCs of th 3rd book and since the first time they meet we see the attraction btw them. In the 3rd book we finally find out why the vampires wanted them. They think that the blood of an half breed and an hunter has huge powers. But it also seems a strange explanation. They wanted Grier bcs he could get pregnant, and they could mix more races with his help, but till this moment no one said that Rylee could get pregnant, so it doesnt make really sense for him. I also think that is a bit sad that all the other couples are able to have a child, while nothing about this is possible for Arden and Rylee, at least the author didnt write about the possibility of Ry becoming pregnant. To make this review shorter. Ry accepts to become a wolf and becomes Arden's mate. Before doing so, he calls his parents and explains to them all that happened. They are sad to lose him as heir in their hunter business, but at the same time they are happy for him. The books ends with Arden claiming Rylee and them being happy in their new life together.

This book isn't my cup of tea for many reasons : 1) wasn't original : the big strong wolf is the top, the human is the bottom....the human is insecure the wolf is assertive and knows everything. it's boring! always the same thing.... Too wordy for my taste. I find the internal monologues at the wrong moment sort of put me off. And there were so many internal monologues that it made me feels the books was mostly tell and enough show. Perhaps it was because of the purple proses that were used here and there that prevent me from enjoying the book... All in all, it was an Ok book. Although, I like how they tried to move the relationship at a normal speed and not just instant binding.

I am enjoying this series - I hope the author keeps them coming sooner rather than later as there is only one more at this time. They are sexy, entertaining and humorous. (I first read this in June 2013 and re-read it in December 2014 - I hope there are eventually more than the 3 books currently out as it is a fun series and I would re-read it again.)

I didn't like this one quite as much as the first book, but I still enjoyed it. I liked that there was plenty of action and am looking forward to the couple that is set up for the next book.
