Another great book by Rachel Hanna. Carly sees her husband kill someone, she goes to the police, finds her husband has put a hit out on her. The FBI puts her in protective custody to keep her safe until she can testify against her husband and in the hopes of protecting her from the hit man and to add to the excitement the FBI agent in charge of her safety is a former friend. That's all I'm gonna say about the storyline so as not to ruin the story for anyone else. An exciting mystery/love story. Another great book by Rachel Hanna. SAFE by Rachel Hanna Carly Davenport-Caine is sitting in a chair nobody ever wants to be sitting in. She is sitting in the chair of the questioning room of the Atlanta Police Department. She’s just witnessed a murder. The murderer…her husband. And that’s not even the worst part. Her husband has issued a hit on her! Her husband has issued a hit on her! So to ensure her protection the Atlanta Police insist she go into hiding until they find the hitman and then Carly can be safe, testify, send her husband to jail (hopefully forever), and then life can go back to normal. Right? Wrong. When she arrives to the safehouse, a cabin in the mountains, who does she find will be her guard to protect her? The one and only Aiden Harrison. Her childhood best friend and the boy who’s heart she broke. Well, this is….awkward, to say the least. Safe is a novella, only 138 pages long, and is a very quick read. The author did well with writing this story. All the elements of a good story are there. The characters are realistic, nothing too over the top or unbelievable. The plot is solid and it moves pretty fast with a good strong ending. There is nothing left wanting. I can’t say the story made my heart leap or my breath get taken away but I didn’t put the book down either. It held my attention, so I wasn’t bored in the least. I didn’t find myself skimming over or skipping anything. There weren’t any dramatic typos that I could find which says a lot these days. The author claims this is the first in a Stand-Alone Book Series, (which I’ve never understood) but I wouldn’t have a problem picking up something by Hanna again if I came across it. My Verdict: 4 out of 5

138 pages A boy she hurt ten years ago, now an FBI agent and every inch a man is assigned to protect Carly from someone who is trying to kill her. After the shock of identifying her protector wears off, being holed up together in an isolated safe house gives them the opportunity to set past wrongs right. The romance seemed to jump from wo to go in record time, one minute they're discussing what went wrong ten years ago, all Carly's doing of course, then they're in bed (closed bedroom by the way). 138 pages A boy she hurt ten years ago, now an FBI agent and every inch a man is assigned to protect Carly from someone who is trying to kill her. I'm still not sure Carly is worthy of the long suffering Aidan. It was when she heard the gun shots and decided to leave the security of the cabin I completely lost interest. No one could be that incredibly dumb no matter how stressed they are. It's one of those reads where paragraphs in you deliberately set aside niggling doubts about the writing style, the lead female character and the occasional stilted dialogue but you keep reading anyway because who doesn't like a second chance story. A clean romance that someone else might enjoy, just not for me. Did I say I didn't finish it? Loved the cover though.

This book is one of the prefect books for me. It has mystery suspense and lots of heat. I liked the flow of the book. We got to see the past and the present and of course at the end what will most likely happen for Aidan and Carly in the future. Carly witnesses a murder and finds her way to the police. She gets placed in a safe house until the time is deemed she is longer a threat of being murdered. A long time ago in her high school days she had a friend who moved away and she remained pen pals. Guess who her guard is............ This book for me has the perfect blend of everything. Heat, mystery, long lost love that might or might not renew. Grab it and read it. I highly recommend Rachel Hanna's books.

I really enjoyed this book, but it was just one of those easy read type books that really didn't make a lasting impression. It was easy to get into, and kept me turning the pages. I was kind of wondering why at times it felt a little juvenile (which I like young adult fiction as well so that didn't bother me) but I think it was because as others have said, the characters and plot were not well developed because the book is rather short. 3.5 stars. A quick little read with an interesting premise. I understand this was a short story so character development will be limited, but I still wanted just a bit more.

This started out interesting, but the ending seemed too simple. It had no detail and the love scene seems forced. Will continue with the boxed series.
