I will let you all in on a little secret, i used to be a computer geek and because of this i have a soft spot for nerds. I think this really helped me like Ivan as he did come across pretty odd at times (as the author meant him too) apart from that i did find him adorable in a lost puppy kind of way. The story was basically about Ivan teaching & introducing Camilla into BDSM, Ivan being the dom & Cam being the sub. The sex between them was hot & kinky, i enjoyed reading it. The story was ok, a bit artificial feeling at times but i did enjoy it & i was satisfied with the ending. I really liked Camilla & felt surprisingly connected to her within a short time. She had some amusing thoughts/dialog which made me laugh out loud. A Shot in the dark I liked this story even more than the first which is always a plus! I have read a book in this series already (which i really enjoyed). I would most certainly read more by this author. She managed to cram in a lot of emotion into this book. I liked Paige & I loved Carter. Carter was a hot firefighting dom, he has some pretty interesting ideas of what to do with peas... it seems this compilation book is going to really mess up my ideas of seemingly normal and not kinky things. I was happy with the way things worked out between them, Paige seemed to deserve a happy ending. Forbidden Fantasies This was both a sexy & a sweet book. It was written from a dual POV Jessica & Alex's. This really upped the steam factor for me. I loved reading what they both were feeling/thinking. I loved Jessica & Alex's marriage, it seemed really realistic. They were a lovely couple & i totally connected with them. The story was really interesting & I was glad they managed to work through their sexual issues. The sex scenes were plentiful & they were HOT. I would recommend this book as i did enjoy it. I would give a word of caution this book had a lot of anal sex & anal play, every book had scenes. Click here for my book review blog!

The Theory of Attraction is a perfect introduction into the world of BDSM and bonus: it's very well-written. This book right there is a set of three short stories. It's about being able to let go and leave the decision process to someone else in order not to limit yourself in pleasure because of morals, prejudices, fears... It's about exploring your boundaries and playing games; whether they are soft or hardcore. And even though you have this dom/sub dynamic, it doesn't mean there can't be love, romance and respect. Besides, there may be a "dom" and a "sub", but the relationship is fondamentally equal. The sub must trust its partner to leave them be in control and give them pleasure through a little bit of sweet torture and the dom must trust the sub to set the limits and say the safe word when enough is enough. The sub has the power to stop it all. It was definitely interesting. I also learned that BDSM was not my personal cup of tea.... ; )

Actual rating: 1.5 stars. Overall, this was a well put together anthology. Each story is different so it doesn't feel repetitive. I just had too many problems to give it a two star rating. The Theory of Attraction This story was the reason I read the anthology and I was disappointed. Mainly, it was because the author can't seem to settle on a characterization for Ivan. He goes back and forth between a dominant personality and an unsure one with no rhyme or reason. I did also bristle at the fact that the author seems to equate intelligence with stereotypical nerd behavior like watching Dr. Who and playing video games. I know this does happen, but Ivan as a character doesn't seem like a Dr. Who watching, video gaming kind of person. A Shot in the Dark So I haven't read a lot of BDSM because it's not my thing, but generally it's always one character introducing another to the life style. It's nice to see two characters who are already familiar with the lifestyle. However, one session and Carter gets super obsessive. It's a little unnerving. Forbidden Fantasies This story was also interesting in that it's the opposite of the previous one, a couple is introduced to the lifestyle together. However, there doesn't seem to be a learning curve for Alex and it's a little odd. Not to mention he and his wife have a perfect marriage. Which seems like an odd thing to complain about, but it feels like the author goes out of her way to describe how their marriage is perfect and the more she does, the more unbelievable and annoying it is.

Just so you know, I'm STILL trying to calm down after reading this book!! Let me start this review by saying that I haven't read a LOT of Erotica. The few I've read have ranged from Awesomely Hot to Unbelievably Creepy. But I want to get outside of my comfort zone in the types of books I read so I'm going to go on this journey, and if you like, feel free to join me, ok? This book was an anthology; three stories by three authors. I read somewhere that these three authors were at the top of the Erotica genre. I figured that I should start with the best and go from there. The Theory of Attraction by Delphine Dryden starts the book off with a bang! We meet Camilla (not sure she ever gets a last name). Camilla has a sexy neighbor who happens to be a rocket scientist. No, really! And his name is Dr. Ivan Reynolds. Camilla can set her watch by the schedule that Ivan keeps. She's good friends with all the guys in her building, including Ivan. One day, after some of the guys had been over to hang out and have dinner, Ivan asks Camilla if she would help him out. He has a fundraiser to go to and to say that he's not so great with people is a massive understatement. He wants Camilla to kind of educate him on how to talk to people in a social setting. Camilla agrees but she gets her own education as well. See, she knows far less about Ivan than she thinks she does. Ivan is into being a Domme and he decides to introduce Camilla to what it's like to be his Sub. I love Camilla and Ivan together! He is so stiff and nerdy and you have no idea that all of this naughty stuff is under the surface. And Camilla is great. She's so normal and unsuspecting and when she finds out what Ivan is really like, she's just blown away! There is nothing lacking in character development and I was laughing out loud several times while reading this book. And it should go without saying that the sex was hot! A Shot in the Dark by Christine d'Abo was the second story and revolved around Paige Long. Paige used to be active in the Domme/Sub scene but she had a bad experience with a former boyfriend. But then she meets Carter, a fireman. He's active in "the scene" and re-introduces her to the delights of being a Sub who is treated properly. Umm, that's about it. I'm sure this is some kind of prequel to a larger series. Paige has a sister and a brother who have GOT to have their own stories. It was pretty short but it was a great little story. Paige and Carter have great chemistry. This story was more technical in nature, I think. It got into the rules of Domme/Sub culture more than I've seen before but I didn't mind it at all. It was really educational!! Forbidden Fantasies by Jodie Griffin rounds out the book and I think this might have been my favorite of the three. Jessica Meyers is married to Maryland State Trooper Alex Meyers. They have a happy and normal marriage and have been married for something like 10 years. Recently, Jess secretly picked up a couple of Erotic novels. She's started fantasizing about trying out some of the things she read about in the books but she's hesitant to talk to her husband about it. She's afraid to admit what she wants and she's afraid that he'll be disgusted by the things she wants. But Alex has noticed a change in her demeanor and things are about to come to a head. Jess and Alex are the married couple that all married couples wish they were. They are happy and in love and still have a fairly active sex life. After Jess reads these books, their sex life gets even more active, even if Alex doesn't know why! This story really seemed completely realistic. Like Jess and Alex could be a real couple; they're thoughts and reactions are absolutely rational. This would definitely be a good story for someone just getting into Erotica. It was pretty light and slow and got into how someone new to this lifestyle might feel hesitant or guilty or dirty. I would absolutely recommend this mini story to someone who wasn't sure if they would like racier or kinkier sex scenes. Overall, The Theory of Attraction was a great read. Without exception, the sex scenes were REALLY hot and REALLY racy!! I didn't feel skeevy or creeped out after reading it so automatically, it gets a thumbs up from me! I will say that it was very intense though. I usually read normal romance novels and reading this one was, at times, a little overwhelming. I'm not saying that's a bad thing. Its just something to consider when deciding whether or not to tackle Erotica. Having said all that, I would certainly recommend this book to anyone with an interest in taking up this genre of novel.

DS stands for dominance and submission and SM stands for sadism and masochism. These stories where based mainly on BD and DS relationships and also an added kink :) The Theory of Attraction by Delphine Dryden is my least favourite book in this trio set. I did enjoy it but not as much as the others. In this story we meet Camilla – who has a sexy nerdy neighbour. He certainly is not at all what we expect and gave me the reader a wonderful surprise at his Dominance and smexiness in this story. It is a short, but - hot read. The characters and storyline were both likeable but found it didn’t keep my interest as much as the others. But none the less is a sweet surprise to not only Camilla but the reader. A rocket scientist with brains and brawn - WOZZA .. 3/5 A great short erotica for all. A Shot in the Dark by Christine d'Abo was the second story and revolved around Paige Long. Paige used to be active in the BDSM scene but she had a very bad experience with a former boyfriend. He didn’t understand the concept of a safe word what so ever. Carter – the smoking hot fireman soon teaches Paige that the lifestyle can be enjoyed with the right person. He is protective and takes good care of her both during play and also outside. He is active in the lifestyle but is A Dom that can be trusted to not overstep his position or trust. The author put forth many aspects into the lifestyle to give us a better understanding into what Dom’s in a relationship of trust can give the sub. (Paige and Carter practiced a D/s relationship ) I enjoyed his endearing, dominant character, the chemistry I found volcanic and I really enjoyed these two characters together is this short but erotic tale. Christine touches more on the BDSM lifestyle in this read which I also found informative for those whom have not read a BDSM based novel before. 4/5 Forbidden Fantasies by Jodie Griffin is the last book and I think this might have been my favourite of the three. Jessica Meyers is married to Maryland State Trooper Alex Meyers. They have had a normal marriage for a long time and Jess has been reading some erotica novels in secret. ((Snickers) She starts to get curious – and fantasizes about what she wants and what she would like. The books have given her a little insight into something she wants to explore but finds it hard to approach her husband. It’s not that Alex and Jess don’t have an active sex life – but reading the books she wants to approach him and finds herself in the mood more often. Of course Alex being male notices the difference and takes it to his full advantage not realizing these erotic novels are behind it all. Bed and Breakfast ;) what a treat indeed. This is somewhat realistic and true to life, how many woman out there are interested in approaching Kinkier side of sex but find it hard to approach there partners. This is a great story of discovery, of sex rather than just vanilla and something to add a little extra spark and hooo har into a already happy marriage. This set of stories gives a great introduction into the BDSM lifestyle. It leaves open a choice for the reader to make, as to whether this type of Genre is for them. All the authors touched base with the lifestyle well, adding heat in the read and a lot of excitement as well. Overall Rated 4/5 *Thank you to Harlequin Spice for supplying this book for my honest review. *

Let's start with what I liked best: Forbidden Fantasies by Jodie Griffin. The premise here is all about a married woman's secret fantasies, which after reading erotic romance are moving from the deepest recesses of her mind into her consciousness. She wants to be dominated, but believes her husband would be horrified by her fantasies. Unfortunately, by keeping her desires under wraps, she's become terribly unhappy, and her loving husband fears for their marriage. Although Griffin overshoots the shame aspect, this is a storyline I really like, and I thought the husband's handling of things post-revelation was delightful. That's why I just downloaded Forbidden Desires (on sale later in November) from Netgalley. Look for my review soon. Next up; Christine d'Abo's A Shot in the Dark. The premise here is all about a Dom re-awakening the submissive in a woman who had forsworn the life after severe abuse at the hands of the man who once dominated her. Particularly appealing about this story was the hero's occupation: firefighter. How utterly delicious that a man who rescues people likes to dominate women in his spare time. What also worked was the heroine: She's difficult, and I can relate to that. Their sex play is really intense, though, so be forewarned. That's not the case in either of the other two stories. Finally, The Theory of Attraction, by Delphine Dryden. This is the story that headlines the anthology, and yet it's the one I liked least. The premise here involves a woman asked by her brilliant but Sheldon Cooper-like neighbor, a scientist at the university employing them both, to teach him social skills so he can successfully schmooze donors and keep his job safe. She doesn't know it, but the surely-he's-got-Aspergers scientist dominates women at a sex club twice a month, and when the attraction between the twosome flares, her heretofore unknown submissive side comes out to play. Unfortunately, I just didn't buy somebody so apparently on the spectrum being able to pick up the cues Dominants need to pick up on if they are to drive their submissives crazy with desire. Look for The Theory of Attraction on November 1st from Carina Press (digital only). My digital copy came via Netgalley.

This is a nice compilation of three short stories in one book that Carina Press has put together and released. Theory of Attraction: Cami knows her hunk of neighbor, Ivan. I liked the geeky nerd persona that Dryden used in the story. Yes, some of them are clueless on what relationships should consist of and meanings of them. What I really dislike was the ex-college roommate sections but hey some college kids … Shot in the Dark: Carter comes to the coffee house one night with some friends before they go to Maverick's. Carter meets Paige and starts up a conversation with her. They are mutually attracted to each other but she quickly "blows" him off. Carter isn't one to be easily persuaded of his intentions and he has his eyes set on Paige. He comes back the next morning and tries again to get to know her. Paige is leery about getting involved with another Dom because the cruel behavior her ex exhibited in the relationship. Will Carter help Paige battle her preverbal skeletons? Is Paige ready to begin a new chapter in her life by submitting herself to trust another? Forbidden Fantasies: Alex and Jess have been married for fifteen years. Alex knows something has been happening for the last three month but he just can’t figure out what or why there are changes with Jess. Alex, being a state trooper, has had enough and he confronts Jess. What happens when Alex finds out that it is erotica romance novels are the reasons for the changes? Will Alex indulge some of those forbidden desires and fantasies that Jess has read in those books? I liked the concept and ideas of the story, as well as the developments between the characters.

I had previously read Theory of Attraction and really enjoyed it, so when I saw it was being re-released along with two other similar stories, I just had to check it out. I really felt like I was reading fully flushed out romance novels that just happened to have that touch of BDSM-style sex in all of them. Super solid anthology. (Favorite line: "I hoped he didn't forget what he was doing and really organize a threesome.") The second one wasn't quite as much my style - Paige dealing with the demons that got her out of the scene years earlier - and I liked Paige more than Carter, but I liked it enough to want to read the other books set in the club. I didn't think I'd like the third one on skim through, but I was totally engaged and rooting for Jess and Alex to communicate and have fun, and it didn't disappoint. I'd totally read any of these authors again.

This is a collection of BDSM short stories. The market for these books is truly ramping up after the huge success of 50 Shades. I can say that the first story in this book is definitely the best. I love the characters, the plot (yes, there is actually a plot - that even makes sense! - a novelty, I know), and the steamy scenes are most awesome. I waited awhile to write the review because I wanted to see if I thought about any of the stories a month or so after I had read them. Truth is, only the This is a collection of BDSM short stories. The other two just didn't seem as believable nor did they have the steaminess of the first. But, because the first story is so strong, I would definitely recommend this book to my adult friends who are looking for more along the lines of 50 Shades.

Overall, I would give this anthology 4 stars. I could never really connect with the characters in the Theory of Attraction and I found the author's voice to be too cold and technical. It was my least favorite story. A Shot in the Dark was my favorite story. I especially enjoyed Paige and the strength she showed in leaving an abusive relationship. I thought Carter was the perfect dom to match her submissive side and his dealings with her showed his true nature as a protector. Forbidden Fantasies w Overall, I would give this anthology 4 stars. Forbidden Fantasies was a nice addition with a story of a married couple going through a rough patch. My only complaint is that I wished Jessica would have come clean about her fantasies sooner to Alex. I was impressed the author was able to do so much with such a short word count.

Mini Review: The Theory of Attraction was my favourite of the three stories. I really loved Ivan, he has to be one of my favourite Doms ever! The BDSM seemed more realistic than that of other books I've read (as it's not just about kinky fu*kery, its about giving and taking trust and pleasure). I loved how nerdy the two were and the romance was very steamy. *Caution* I am not skittish while reading but if you are not completely open to every aspect of BDSM and complete submission this is probably Mini Review: The Theory of Attraction was my favourite of the three stories. The other two stories were okay, but I truly would've liked NEED more Ivan and Cami!

I think this anthology ruined me for BBT and any "very special episodes of (insert tv show here). Good lord, Im in a mood. FWIW, I only read the 1st and the 3rd story because I'd already read and reviewed the 2nd in a previous ARC. I'll elaborate more when I can put some coherent thoughts together. Not doing the usual analysis for this one. The character development in Dryden's nerdy (yay!) erotic romance is awesome. One thing that I liked about this set of stories is that there isn't what I think of as the usual socioeconomic imbalance between the characters. I will absolutely read the other stories by these authors. Not doing the usual analysis for this one. The character development in Dryden's nerdy (yay!) erotic romance is awesome. First story was like a hot dominant Sheldon, which was pretty awesome. Second was ok, not as spicy as I would have liked. Also little more character development of Carter would have been appreciated. Without it the story seemed one sided and kind of dull.

4.5 Three great stories! Enjoyed them all! Loved the internal and external monologues in The Theory of Attraction. Dryden did a great job of introducing Camilla to the world of BDSM. Ivan was the hottest nerd I've ever read. This stays on my keeper shelf. 4.5 Three great stories! Enjoyed them all! Loved the internal and external monologues in The Theory of Attraction.
