Unnatural Coalition This is the sixth and final book in the Knights of the Darkness Chronicle. This is a book where everything is thrown in to make sure all bases are covered and all questions are answered. I'm glad to be finished with this series and probably won't read anything else by this author. I was aware that there would be M/M pairings, MFM threesomes and erotic sex in the series. All the books in the series had good plots, interesting characters, intrigue, drama and lots of over the top action. They went from some M/M erotic sex to a book almost dominated by M/M descriptive, graphic erotic sex, rape scenes with no trigger warnings and unnecessary, cruel actions against children. There also an unexpected cliffhanger. This book was almost entirely M/M descriptive, graphic sex that amounted to pure porn. If the vampires are mostly bisexual beings, why was there almost nothing but M/M sex? Even when it was forced, it was apparently overwhelmingly sensual. You have Immortal Vampires (Founts) and ancient vampires and shapesifter who form an unholy alliance to help stop a virus started by other Founts that only killed humans. The book was overly long with non-stop action in the middle that gradually diminished to an ending. The battle between the Ancients and their Chosen Ones with other ancient shapesifters and vampires was just too much. The Counts couldn't or wouldn't kill each other and they fought to keep their Chosen Ones alive. Everyone else was just collateral damage. Why would Founts have to ask human for treaties that would make sure the humans treated supernaturals fairly? At least all loose ends were tied up and all questions were answered. Still the ending left you feeling unfulfilled.

Picking up right where we left off in THE LION'S DEN, I think that this was the most emotionally charged book of the series. It's the final chapter, it's a culmination of all of our favorite characters. It's about protecting those you love. We meet the most powerful vampires in existence, the Founts, the original seven and hear their origination story as they are gathering to fight against one another to save the human race. Natasha is kidnapped again, infected with the virus killing off the human race, molested, and then returned ill. Xavier will do anything to save Darian. Darian will do anything to save Xavier, his Chosen One. Kysen will do anything to protect the heart of his Chosen One, Darian, and so forth as we meet stronger and stronger vampires. The Founts, with the exception of one, are annoying, arrogant, and everything you expect from a being as old as they each are. I suppose after so many millenia of watching petty human jealousies work their way out, you, too, would be selfish, jaded, and cynical. And then to be the ONLY female Fount? Yeah, Irikara is a bitch alright! I like the wake up call for humans, especially as their general attitudes are ones that we would encounter on a day to day basis in our own lives: arrogant, asinine, petty, and disingenuous. That is our reality, unfortunately, and only a handful are like Natasha: genuine, cares for fellow man, demonstrates integrity, etc. There are only a few glitches throughout the series that readers may "trip" over: a handful of spelling/grammar errors (wretched vs retched, son vs sun, etc). and then colloquallisms and speech patterns that are regional based. Natasha and Devin's "voices" and slang made me stumble a few times. These errors over the course of six books can be counted on your hands without using all of your fingers, so they are easily overlooked. This was a very satisfying series, focusing on different players while keeping a central theme. I really loved it and totally loved having all the books at once to read consecutively. Fight sequences as well as every conversation are written so vividly without bogging you down with minutia that it was like watching a movie play in my head. In fact, this would make a brilliant television drama series, appealing to vampire junkies and shifter junkies alike. If this isn't on your TBR yet, it should be!

The Wrap-up book in the Knights of Darkness Chronicles brings to head the issues and injustices the supernaturals face by humans all throughout the world. A rebel group of very powerful vampires are tired of the negotiations between the UN and supernatural council that just never get anywhere. They take action to force changes in the laws. A worldwide virus is created and they aren't going to share the antidote until their demands are met. Many of the vampires and shapeshifters agree with the end result, but not the means. When one of their own is infected as retaliation for action taken--all supernaturals had been warned not to help the humans--the group from Chicago won't sit still and work to stop the madness. We meet the seven original vampires created ten thousand years ago and the Chicago vampires are nothing but babies compared to the abilities of these seven. Arrogant is such an inadequate word for six of these seven who are too old to care much about any but their own pleasures. The concept of the story itself is interesting and there is plenty of emotion and some action. Sex--at least the talk or desire of it--plays a rather large role among the vampires, especially the older ones. There are perhaps 3 onscreen sex scenes containing homosexual or heterosexual couplings. Overall I thought the book was okay, not especially either good or bad. But I was happy to have read the final installment after following this series since the first book, Desires Unleashed, made its debut. Book was read for free through Amazon Prime.

I really loved the "Knights of the Darkness Chronicles & hate to see the series end. A must read for fans of this genre. In this, the last book, D.N. gives us great closure & ties up some loose ends just as a great writer would. The action is bloody, the characters lovable & the sex is HOT! Ladies beware, these vampire lords are total alphas and will leave you swooning and panting for more. D.N. Simmons is a great writer. If you have not read any of the Knights of Darkness series, you are truly missing out on great books. Once you've read one you'll have to read them all. You'll fall in love with the characters, just as I did & you'll mourn the when one dies.(Yes D.N. makes them just that believable) Very interesting book to top off a great series. If you love Vampires, Shifters & WerePeople you'll love this book, just as you will the whole series.

This review has been hidden because it contains spoilers. To view it, click here. I was sorry to see this series end. I was hoping for one more book. Darian, Natasha, and Xavier's storylines do come to a close. I was not satisfied with the tidbits that we got on Adan and his lion pride nor how she ended Gabe and Barry's stories. We also never heard anything more on Brian from Cali. Very disappointed there wasn't another book in this series. I had alot of ?'s arise out the Adan's storyline with Kysen and his lionesses. Why did Adan have sleeping pills on him to give to Natasha on the airplane, why would Adan need sleeping pills? She never did anything with Adan in the battle with the founts so why take him along for the ride? Why did Adan allow Kysen to tap his lionesses? He is pissed that he allowed it but not why he was pissed, we're not given any more explanation than this on Adan's pov. We also never got much info on Amanda and Adan's son. Just a mention and that was that. I rated it a 4 because I did enjoy the series and world state which I thought was unique. Simmons could have done so much more with this world state, to bad she ended it.

Unholy Alliance, book 6, is the final chapter in the Knights of the Darkness Chronicles. As with all of the books Unholy Alliance is a mix of suspense, romance, and hot steamy sex. As with book 3 this book has a lot more action than romance with a clash between the original vampires over the fate of the human race. We have a lot more vampires in this book and less shifters, we meet Kysen's maker as well as other fonts(the original 6 vampires are known as fonts). Natasha's life is in great danger and Darian and Xaver what ever they have to in order to save her and in the processes help the human race. Unholy Alliance takes up at the moment the cliffhanger at the end of book 5, The Lion's Den, stops off. It is a roller coaster ride of meetings with more and more powerful beings looking for a way to save Natashia. With the occasional homage being required we also get some heavy duty vampire on vampire action going on. Ms. Simmons wraps up the Knights of the Darkness Chronicles with a bang and a whole new world. The entire series has been a fantastic read and I have enjoyed the opportunity to review each book. I received this book in exchange for my honest review.

Book 6, the final book in this vampire soap opera. I have to say, that overall, I've liked this series. The characters, the action, the dramatic tension mixed with the comedy...it's been a good run. That being said, I'm glad this is over. Each book in this series brought you a little bit more than the last. In the beginning Darian is the big bad master vamp. In the end, he's just a baby compared to what we've been introduced to. I read another series that tried for something in this vein, but by Book 6, the final book in this vampire soap opera. I have to say, that overall, I've liked this series. It totally ruined the entire series for me (and made me so glad I got it in KU instead of paying outright for it). This one ended nicely and gives me a nice closure.

This was a great series. I enjoyed all of the different characters and the depth that the author put into each one, my favs being Warren, Devin, Adrian, & Xavier. I do have to admit that toward the end the female lead Natasha was getting on my nerves a bit. I would recommend this series to anyone who has a love for paranormal romance and can handle inter-species and gay love scenes as they can be intense (super HOT)! I will definitely keep an eye out for any more D.N.Simmons works.
