4.5 stars I really, really enjoyed this. Rochon has a great voice, and I love smart, capable MCs who are good at their jobs, so Asia and Dex were easy to like. The pacing got a bit rushed at the end, I felt, but I will definitely be reading more Farrah Rochon in the future!

"Trying to get over a bad breakup?" "Need help making your ex jealous? The Rebound Guy may be just what you're looking for." "Do you find yourself single after years of loving a man you only thought you knew? Are you unsure why your man left in the first place? The Rebound Guy can help you figure it out" This is what Asia Carpenter is told by her younger sister, India when her fiance of two years and lover of four suddenly leaves her with a note that says "Look me up when you have more time fo "Trying to get over a bad breakup?" "Need help making your ex jealous? The Rebound Guy may be just what you're looking for." "Do you find yourself single after years of loving a man you only thought you knew? Are you unsure why your man left in the first place? The Rebound Guy can help you figure it out" This is what Asia Carpenter is told by her younger sister, India when her fiance of two years and lover of four suddenly leaves her with a note that says "Look me up when you have more time for me." and the bill of the engagement ring! But does Asia heed her sister's advice? Does she need this "Rebound Guy" to help her get over Cortland, her now ex-fiance? Is this "knight in shining armor" answer to all her problems? Asia Carpenter is a career minded PR Crisis Manager who, though surprised by her fiance suddenly leaving her, is still confident that she can remedy the problem and is unable to accept that Cortland has left her for good. So when her sister mentions "The Rebound Guy" to her, she rebuffs her only to call him after a particularly heart ripping and humiliating meeting with Cortland where she learns that he has been unfaithful and been seeing another woman behind her back!! Hoping to make him jealous and dreading the pitying look of people, she hires Dexter Bryant aka "The Rebound Guy" to be her "stud-for-hire". Dexter Bryant abhors the tag people give him of "stud-for-hire" because for him, he is much more than just a toy. He considers himself a "healer" and a relationship adviser who is very successful at making women deal with the grief of their broken relationships! 'Rebounding was a part of the healing process after a tough breakup. He helped women get through that process. He was a healer.' So when Asia asks him to be her bought escort, he is skeptical but agrees eventually. The tables turn for Asia when she begins to fall for her hired lover. 'Apparently, she was ten kinds of a fool, because Asia couldn't deny the inevitable. She was falling hard for her rebound guy.' What happens next leaves the reader with a warm and happy feeling in their hearts and a smile on their faces.. :) "The Rebound Guy" by Farrah Rochon is a quick, breezy read with a very innovative concept of the "Rebound" man. Farrah has given some thought to the concept and succeeded in making the reader accept and eventually warm up to it.The cover is also very appealing and instantly holds the attention of a reader. I loved the names she gave to her heroines "Asia" and "India". Very unusual names indeed. :) The characterization is good, though I felt Cortland's character is a bit confusing. His motivations for leaving Asia and his behavioral aspects sometimes make him the victim and sometimes the "bad guy". Dexter is hot and totally a character one can fall in love with. A man of endearing habits, he is considerate, a very passionate lover and his God like body is also a plus. I totally loved him. :) Asia symbolizes the modern, career oriented woman who is independent and fiercely protects her freedom. She is sensitive but has perfected her power woman facade and doesn't allow anyone to know her true feelings. I specially loved her small sacrifices that she made for Cortland just out of love for him like foregoing baseball games which she loved watching just because Cortland had no interest in them. Her chemistry with Dexter is intense and the dialogues between these two characters are both memorable and touching. I was so touched by the efforts they make to be together and the final proposal to Asia by Dexter. "You're it for me. The Rebound Guy is officially off the market for all other women. There's only one woman whom I want. I just need to know whether she wants me, too." I loved the vivacious and carefree, India who is always eager to give her advise to her elder sister and support her and even though Asia doesn't want her help, she hires Dexter and arranges a meeting just to help her get over Cortland, whom she has always known was wrong for Asia. All in all, a very sweet love story with a very unusual concept of the "The Rebound Guy" and some very beautiful characters. It is a quick read and a perfect refreshment after a hectic day at work. I give it a 3.7 out of 5 with a smile and love in my heart. :) PS: This review is also available on my blog http://njkinny.blogspot.in/

Have you ever watched a movie and wondered what would happen if a certain hero of one movie crossed paths with a beauty from your favorite tv show? Would they work out or would they become a cautionary love tale? Well if you want to discover what would happen if a character like Alex Hitchens (from Hitch), before he got his `love advisor' business off the ground, came across a character like Olivia Price (from Scandal: The Complete First Season), before she let her workaholic tendencies lock her in a doomed relationship, then this novel is for you! Author Farrah Rochon presents Dexter Bryant, a man determined to get his unconventional business venture off the ground while vowing to never compromise his heart again, and Asia Carpenter, a workaholic PR crisis-management boss that lost her fiancé because of her career responsibilities. The story has a strong plot and riveting characters that will make you root for the Dexter and Asia to realize the magic occurring between them. Ms. Rochon reveals the depths of Asia's psyche and reluctance to put complete trust in men, while illustrating why Dexter's past business mistakes propel him to redeem himself. I enjoyed the dialogue, passion, and realism of the characters and the fact that the novel is set in New York and New Jersey area was a bonus. (As a Jersey girl, I can appreciate anyone that can have their character navigate the NJ Turnpike between Camden and Manhattan with ease.) Farrah Rochon shines a light on the essence of her characters and gets them to value love in its purest form...self-acceptance. Once Dexter and Asia face the inner demons that drive them in their professional lives, they're able to face the unresolved passion brewing between them. I highly recommend Ms. Rochon's novel 'The Rebound Man' for her superb writing style, her strong heroine, her smolderingly handsome hero, and her flair for endearing, secondary characters. Wow! At first I wasn't sure if I was going to like the story. I like this author so I pushed forward. And this was a good decision. The story is about an Olivia Pope fixer who was dumped by her fiancé for another one of their co- workers. The former couple was slated to attend a wedding together. Additionally, the female lead did not want to go alone. So her sister hired a man to escort her. He was know as the Rebound Man. I liked this book, a lot. Light-hearted and loved Dex and Asia. They complement each other well and are good for each other, but tons of cute moments. I think that with a character or person who is as busy as Asia, they will make time when the right person comes along - which is the case here as well. Definitely a "Hitch" feel to it - HEA. The book was an enjoyable read for the most part except I had some issues with Dexter. Sorry Dex, but a guy who charges extra for sex with his "clients" is an escort or a male prostitute. You can wrap it up in pretty words all you want but the result is the same. The book was an enjoyable read for the most part except I had some issues with Dexter. Emotional healing is important to move on As someone who is not a fan of rebound relationships, I could appreciate recognizing the importance of self evaluation. I also felt the story was straight out of a movie. Nevertheless, it was sweet coming to age story on life after heartbreak.

Rebounded so very well Asia was dumped in the worst way, but she rebounded so very well. Dexter took her out of her comfort zone and helped her to find herself again. Instead, they both rebounded and found so much more.

After the book about Russia, I needed a light, fluffy palate cleanser. I picked this up as I enjoyed Rochon's The Boyfriend Project last year. While the premise was a bit reductive (Hitch meets classic overworked women type), the characters were relatable, and the story was fun. This review has been hidden because it contains spoilers. To view it, click here. I’ve done it yet again. I’ve judged a book by its cover and received the true kick on my ass that I deserved. Ah, just kidding! It wasn’t that bad? Or was it? I still can’t say. Asia Carpenter is an uptight, stick-up-her-workoholic-ass type lady. It’s true. Apparently, the woman has stopped in the middle of sex to answer a work call. I mean, who does that? Apparently, this lady does. Or so her ex-fiance says. Said ex-fiance, Cortland Stewart, is actually the main character the entire story seems I’ve done it yet again. I’ve judged a book by its cover and received the true kick on my ass that I deserved. Said ex-fiance, Cortland Stewart, is actually the main character the entire story seems to revolve around. Like it or not, Cortland Stewart is the person you’re going to be reading most about. On the other hand, the new guy and Asia hardly have any chemistry that’s been written about. The Rebound Guy – Dexter Bryant – is stupid. That’s the first thing that comes to mind. I mean, who works in a hot-shot Wall Street firm, fucks up and then walks dogs, dreaming of running a business to save guys all around the city from being potential Rebound Men, offering to make the noble sacrifice himself? Like I said, stupid. And the best is yet to come…when Asia and Dexter finally realize their love for each other, he actually thinks of getting into financial consulting and letting go of this Rebound Guy business. He says so himself, I swear! The book has its own pros. Apart from being a rip off of Hitch (one of my favorites, mind you) I really liked Roxie, the dog, and India Carpenter, Asia’s sister. The author could have used a lot more of these two fun characters. The flow was good, and though the plot could have been developed some more, you can’t actually think of any mistakes in the story unless you actually sit down and well, think about it. The Rebound Guy is a fun read. If you look past some minor avoidable errors that I pointed out and then some, it’s actually a good, Sunday afternoon type book :)

This one ended so abruptly I'm still not sure what happened or how. My biggest problem with this book was that the author spent a good 20 - 30% of it having the 'hero' justify his 'relationship advising' business. He was adamant that it was not a male escort service. Repeatedly defended it and spent a good 20 pages explaining to the heroine why it wasn't a male escort service. The gentleman doth protest too much. Here's the deal Dex...you date women for a month charging them $1500 a week for your services. You make them feel better about themselves and more confident and help them get their exes jealous. You sleep with them if they call for it - that costs extra of course. Sorry to tell you honey, no matter how you wrap that package you're a male escort. You're also a criminal because you sleep with women for money - deny it all you want. Because his myriad justifications were such a huge part of the story arc I just couldn't get into it. Every time he tried to claim his 'business' was a legitimate consulting opportunity I rolled my eyes. So I could never really connect with Dex. Then there's Asia. An uptight workaholic who cancels dinners, vacations, life in general for her job and then is offended and surprised when her fiancé cheats on her because he's tired of waiting around for her. Don't get me wrong, Cortland was a straight up douche bag. No question about it. But really, no one wants to be in a relationship by themselves. I mean the day the guy left she only called him once and then spent a whole week working before she had time to call him again. She obviously didn't put much importance in her relationship. I couldn't really get on board with her either. She was stiff, formal, and cold most of the time. So yeah, I skimmed a good part of this and only finished it cause it was short and I was curious. But really it was a waste of my time.

Dexter used to work on Wall Street but after making a mistake, he was given the axe and he was forced to move on and venture into the exciting world of dog walking. After he has a bad break up with a girl who was on the rebound, Dexter vows not to go through that again. He also wants to help other men not find themselves in the same position. He comes up with the idea of becoming a relationship advisor to help women move past the hurt of breaking up with a long time love, and move on. He'll help build their confidence and of course, stud himself out in the process all in the effort to help these poor broken hearted women and save himself from having to fall in love. The whole story seemed very contrived, which I know is ironic considering that I'm reading a piece of fiction, but I'm just used to immersing myself into these worlds where the situation seems a bit more believable.
